Best places in Singapore for a unique afternoon high tea experience - SilverKris

"A Peranakan-leaning afternoon tea curated by the executive pastry chef that showcases handcrafted Nonya treats and heritage flavours. Highlights include savouries such as jumbo lump crabmeat with grape jelly and crispy mantou, otah and prawn quiche, and sweets like beancurd with brown sugar syrup and a bubur hitam cheesecake, plus Tahitian vanilla buttermilk scones and unlimited ice cream on request. The set is served with fine loose-leaf tea or coffee and leans into nostalgic, homey flavours presented in a multi-tiered, refined format." - Joy Fang

Enjoyed the Golden Nectar high tea set with a friend yesterday and it was an amazing experience. Every treat was unique on it's own and complemented each other very well! The tea they offered was remarkable as well with interesting blends and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The service was very commendable! With one of the waiters offering to help us take a serving each of the free flow sorbet/ice cream as a palate cleanser. It shows their keen sense of attention to detail. The only caveat would be the atmosphere of the location but nonetheless, it didn't hinder the experience at all. Definitely bookmarking InterContinental for more high tea opportunities!

I visited The Lobby Lounge for birthday high tea with a friend. Despite having a reservation, we waited close to 10 minutes at the reception before being attended to. There was no one manning the counter, and my friend had to walk further into the restaurant to get someone to tend to us which was quite disappointing for a place of this calibre. On a brighter note, the ambience was lovely and we appreciated the complimentary slice of birthday cake. A special mention goes to the waiter who served us. Unfortunately, I didn’t get his name, but he was a Chinese staff in his 60s. He gave us a clear introduction to the high tea set and guided us on how to enjoy it in the right order, which was much appreciated. The high tea itself was decent, and we left feeling very full and satisfied. Overall, it was a pleasant afternoon though the lack of reception service at the start did set the tone back a little.

The Lobby Lounge at InterContinental Singapore is a sophisticated venue that beautifully reflects the hotel’s blend of heritage and modern elegance. With its soaring ceilings, natural light, and refined interiors inspired by Peranakan design, it offers a timeless space for both relaxation and social gatherings. The Lobby Lounge is well-known for its curated afternoon tea experiences, artisanal cocktails, and refined bar bites, making it a highlight of the hotel’s culinary offerings. During our visit, we tried two signature cocktails. The Reverie (SGD 26) was crafted with Nikka Coffey Grain Whisky, Fair Kumquat Liqueur, Hibiscus Bitters, Orange Bitters, and finished with a lemon twist. Inspired by the lush serenity of Sultan Gate Garden, it delivered smooth caramel notes with a bright citrusy lift, reflecting the tranquility of nature meeting refined elegance. The second cocktail, Nocturne Alley (SGD 26), was a deeper and more robust creation featuring Teeling Small Batch Whiskey, Longan, Mulassano Vermouth Rosso, PX Sherry, Angostura Bitters, and dried longan. Drawing inspiration from the nocturnal charm of Haji Lane, this drink offered layered complexity with hints of spice and fruit, perfectly suited for those who appreciate a more enigmatic profile. To pair with the drinks, we enjoyed flavorful chicken satay and fresh Vietnamese spring rolls, both executed with finesse and balance. Together with the cocktails, these light bites highlighted the Lounge’s thoughtful approach to classic Asian flavors reimagined for a refined setting. The Lobby Lounge stands as both a daytime retreat for tea and an evening destination for cocktails, embodying InterContinental Singapore’s dedication to elegance, heritage, and exceptional hospitality.

Came over for a private chat with a girlfriend. So glad i did. The tea set for 2 is beautiful and tasted so good. Includes champagne, a tea/coffee and nibbles that cover savoury through to sweets. I appreciate the stuff members who were so helpful and friendly from the time we stepped in. I came in with a crutch and they were thoughtful to offer help — thank you Danish. Isabelle greeted us with a wide smile and explained the menu’s selection politely. Cheryl patiently went through the sequence of consuming the savouries and pastries so we get the best palate experience in the right order. Hou Le and Joseph politely informed us that tea typical ends at 6.30pm. It’s all good really. Thank you for delivering the notice so politely. I completely loss track of time because i was busy pouring my heart out. Hayden graciously allowed me to stay on to finish up while his team turned over the space for a dinner jazz event. Noel at the bar got us covered for drinks. Oh there’s free flow ice cream ladies ;) Overall a nice afternoon tea for me to cry my eyes out to my girlfriend in a cosy and comfy tea setting with a pleasant crew. Thank you ;)

I visited the Lobby Lounge at InterContinental Singapore yesterday for a relaxing tea time, and I was truly impressed. The food was excellent; the coffee was beautifully presented, with charming heart-shaped sugar cubes in both brown and white sugar. The potato tater tots were topped with high-quality Parmesan cheese, which made them even more delicious. The hygiene standards stood out as well, with the chili and tomato sauces served in unopened glass jars resembling jam jars, ensuring cleanliness. The service was exceptional and consistently met the high standards expected of a 5-star international hotel. It’s not just about their attitude, but also their patience, knowledge, and genuine willingness to assist guests. As a member of the InterContinental hotel group, I always feel welcomed here and love coming back regularly to enjoy the food and atmosphere.

We enjoyed the timeless atmosphere. The lobby. The service was very friendly, beautifully dressed and helpful. We tried the Kaya Toast as we heard from a „insider“ that we should try it. I have to say that I prefer the regular street toast. This one was too sweet, did not have the cold butter in the center. The toast was toasted with butter but not to the same effect. Our favorite is Treasurer Toast just around the corner. Also the cappuccino was way to hot.3 Kaya and 3 drinks were 100 SGD.

We had such a delightful afternoon at the InterContinental Singapore’s Lobby Lounge for their high tea. The ambience is elegant and relaxing, with a timeless charm that makes it perfect for an indulgent afternoon. Their Limited Golden Nectar Afternoon Tea (until end of August 2025) was beautifully presented — a wonderful mix of savoury bites, delicate pastries, and freshly baked scones that were warm and fluffy. The tea selection was extensive, with knowledgeable staff recommending pairings that truly elevated the experience. What stood out most was the impeccable service from Hayden and Cheryl — they are attentive without being intrusive, always with a warm smile. It made the whole experience feel extra special. Whether for a special occasion or simply to treat yourself, I’d highly recommend the Lobby Lounge high tea. A perfect balance of sophistication and comfort!

Service is exceptionally disappointing. When I ordered, I specifically told the waitress that the food is to be shared among the five of us and had requested for some bowls for sharing. When the food arrived, there are still no bowls and I reminded the waitress again. After waiting for about 15 minutes, I couldn’t stand it and went to the counter to ask for the bowls for a 3rd time. I was told by the same waitress that only her Manager could give me the bowls and asked me to wait again! Why do I need to wait for more than 30 minutes just for some empty bowls?!?!?
