The Lobby At The Nomad Hotel Review - Downtown LA - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"Very few bars will stop you in your tracks the way that Nomad does. When you step into the building - a massive, converted bank downtown - you’ll feel like you’re in a 1940s movie where you’re the star and that handsome guy in the newsboy cap at the bar might propose you train with him across Northern Africa. In reality, that guy lives in Silver Lake and is just grabbing a drink before his shift, but the point is this bar/restaurant/hotel makes you feel special. And so will that group cocktail served out of golden metallic rooster. It’s definitely a post-work spot during the week, but Fridays and Saturdays come alive with a bit rowdier crowd. No reservations needed." - Brant Cox

The Lobby @ Manila Peninsula Hotel

The lobby is truly beautiful and luxurious. The space is airy and very spacious, with elegant architecture that has a touch of classic charm. It’s a perfect place for a relaxing afternoon tea and to chill while enjoying piano music. However, the food is not particularly outstanding.

We had an amazing time having dinner here! We had the "Your Birthday On Us!" course menu and the portions were incredibly huge for a course meal. Our server was also so sweet, she kept taking our photos for each course and was just the best!

The place has a fantastic ambiance and great vibes—easily one of the best in Manila. We ordered the following dishes: • Potato Leek Soup – The soup was good, though slightly overpriced at ₱1,090. • Grilled Scallops and Calamari – Unfortunately, this dish was disappointing. The squid was tough, and for the price (₱1,790), I expected large U.S. scallops, but they used local ones instead. Not recommended. • Peninsula Club Sandwich – The sandwich was good, and the fries were nicely crispy. Overall, I have mixed feelings. While I loved the ambiance and service, the food was just average for the price—not quite up to the standards of a five-star hotel.

We dined here last March. Food was delicious but not remarkable— considering the very high price. Service is just fair too, gets very busy and it is difficult to request from the servers. It gets noisy too around lunch time. I think it’s okay to try once, and mostly for the location and ambiance.

Google
The best classic afternoon tea in Manila. The Lobby boasts a timeless elegance, every spot is picturesque and well-lit. Staffs were warm, welcoming, helpful as you would expect from The Peninsula. They have the best afternoon tea that I have tried in Manila. Unbeatable deal for the price of around ₱3,000+ for 1 set for 2. The food included were tasty and the tea was sufficient. However, other items in their menu are just ok yet are priced exhorbitantly so I suggest going here for their tea set. Vallet service of The Peninsula was super kind and helpful, parking can also be waived.

🥪 Clubhouse Sandwich A classic take done Peninsula-style—layered with turkey, ham, bacon, egg, lettuce, and tomato, served with a side of crisp fries. Bread is lightly toasted and holds together well. The meats are fresh and balanced, though it leans more on subtle, clean flavors than bold or indulgent. Generous portion, enough to share or fill one hungry diner. It’s satisfying, but not standout—more of a reliable, polished version of the familiar. 🍧 Halo-Halo Harana Signature dessert and a true showstopper. Presented in a tall glass with fine shaved ice, rich leche flan, creamy ube halaya, sweetened beans, nata, and jackfruit—all topped with velvety ube ice cream. The balance of textures is excellent; everything tastes premium, with nothing too sweet or artificial. It’s indulgent without being overwhelming. Easily one of the best halo-halo presentations in the city—but with a hefty price tag to match. The ambience is nice. It is elegant, spacious, and timeless. High ceilings, chandeliers, and live piano set a refined, relaxed mood. Perfect for afternoon conversations, upscale dining, or a classy mid-day break. Classic hotel charm done right. 4 stars since it’s expensive ngl

Google
It has quite a gaudy vibe that many might enjoy but for me, it felt too ostentatious. They're known for their halo-halo, which costs PHP 1000, and while it's served in a large goblet, it doesn't have the best taste. Service here is also quite slow, as it took us a long time to receive our food and the bill. At least the food came with some snacks consisting of olives, peanuts, and plantains.

Google
The Lobby at The Manila Peninsula offers a charming atmosphere with impeccable service. The live piano music adds a wonderful touch, making it an ideal spot for both casual and business meetings. We tried the high tea set, and while the macarons and orange cake were delightful, along with some of the sandwiches. The scones were disappointingly dry and not as buttery as one might expect. Overall, it's a lovely experience, though there is room for improvement in the food offerings.

Yelp
The Lobby is a wonderful place to meet the family and friends. It is a very relaxed atmosphere, and at specific times there is a pianist that is accompanied by string instrument players. On the evening that we came here, Benedicto Cabrera (BenCab), a national artist was being featured. I was amazed to see his numerous paintings. It brought back Baguio memories with the artists. Back to The Lobby, it is known for their halo halo and their afternoon tea. I usually share my halo halo with someone else, but my husband enjoys having one for himself. If you're in the mood to just relax and have a cup of coffee or tea with a friend, I would recommend The Lobby's Afternoon Tea.

Yelp
Aesthetically the Kare-Kare dish looked yummy. However, I wouldn't recommend on ordering this dish. In terms of meat or "laman"- it was 90% blubber and 10% meat. :(. It was my first meal flying in from Hawaii and I did NOT get what I paid for. Check out pictures. People that worked there were amazing but The Lobby restaurant experience was one star.

Yelp
The Lobby at Manila Peninsula is still as classy and yet comfortable as it was 30 years ago. It used to be a frequent late night hangout for halo halo after going out at night. Now it's more of an afternoon or early evening get together before dinner place. Tonight there is beautiful piano musicfrom the 80s to add to the mood.

Yelp
The Halo Halo is very good and very popular. One order is huge enough dor 3 people. Cozy ambience and there is a live string quartet playing the classics.

Yelp
Really enjoyed our afternoon here when we stopped by just to wait for traffic to die down. I ordered the Edsa mocktail and my husband and I decided to share the wagyu burger just to try it. We really enjoyed the food, service, and ambiance. We plan to stay here for a couple nights next time we're in the Philippines and we will definitely eat at THE LOBBY again.

Yelp
Again. You get what you pay for (well most of the time lol) but this is no exception. The Lobby is located in The Peninsula Manila or Manila Pen. From the valet, the hostesses, the whole staff are very welcoming and courteous! Meeting friends for early dinner and drinks. I ordered my favorite, Bagnet (which is crispy roasted pork) with garlic fried rice. My friends ordered Pancit luglug (it's fat rice noodles with creamy shrimp sauce), the rest ordered chicken/pork adobo and chicken adobo. Everything was delicious! I almost didn't want to share my dish but ok why not, the portions were really generous anyway. I had 2 Martinis lol. If I'm going to have a cheat day, might as well make the best of it Yes, it's a little pricey than most restaurants serving Filipino food, but the beautiful Ambience, the exceptional and the total dining experience, it's well worth it. Would I go back? Can't wait!!!!!!

Yelp
Such a beautiful hotel. They definitely know how to treat their customers well and make them feel like they are the only ones there. Many amenities to make your stay enjoyable. Would definitely Lloyd to stay here again.

Yelp
Our very first review on Yelp! A grand entrance to Yelp! at the "grandest hotel lobby in the Philippines." So you're probably reading this in search for the perfect place to impress your client(s) or just treat yourself and/or party to a luxurious ambiance of the Lobby at Manila Peninsula Hotel. Classical piano played live throughout the afternoon and an orchestra during the evenings, you'll surely be impressed. A full meal is around 1.5K per person that's a main dish and a drink. They serve complimentary bread basket. KARE-KARE (750++ PHP) A decent portion of meat and thick sauce for a smooth texture. They didn't skimp on the shrimp paste, since they served it in a bowl. ABSOLUT PENNE (750 PHP) Penne pasta tossed in Absolut Vodka with young asparagus, chicken, shrimp, and shaved parmesan cheese. Delicious, but other items will offer better value than any pasta dish on their menu.

Yelp
great ambiance, tasty halo halo, & good quality tea. in case you've never been here before, you order food/drinks in the lobby & seat yourselves. there is also complimentary wifi for 24 hours if you're a customer ordering food/drinks; all you have to do is ask the concierge for the pass code. the halo halo was huge! we split it in two & were both content. ingredients were fresh. minus a star because it was pricey.

Yelp
Loved it here. Everyone has a ready smile for you, but for Pilipinos that's not too difficult to do. Friendly, accommodating, and always ready to provide assistance. The food was delicious, reasonably priced, and the service was impeccable. They have a great way to make their guests feel special. Thank you for showing your weary guests a great time. I must come back soon!

Yelp
I came here with my cousin, Angela M., for afternoon tea and absolutely loved the service! Wait staff was phenomenal and the food was delicious - afternoon tea with a Filipino twist! They offer an afternoon tea buffet and I thought it was worth it. You can make a late lunch or early dinner out of it so it wasn't just "merienda." They also offer a good variety of tea, courtesy of TWG Tea. I would love to come back.

Yelp
One of my favorite childhood memories is being treated to a Strawberry Milkshake in the Peninsula Lobby for no reason. I felt like it was such a treat and they always came as a surprise, I loved them! Growing older, I had less and less time to go treat myself to one! That was until January of this year when my friend and I were starving and was looking for something special after our play at CCP. The Pen Lobby was the perfect choice! We took our seats in the majestic lobby, all dolled up from a special night out (we watched Beauty and the Beast in CCP!), and got ready to order! The grandeur of the Peninsula hasn't faltered, it's still as beautiful as I remembered it and they still uphold that luxury and class! We ordered our dinner and enjoyed what was left of the night with the live music and the food and the fancy feeling. It's a great place for lunch and also good to note they are open 24 hours for drunken nights you feel mighty rich! Oh and I did get treated to a tall glass of strawberry milkshake :)

Yelp
My cousin Deana I. and I had an afternoon tea set here. The food they served as buffet is as good as having a late lunch already, especially for the savoury options. Plus, they were a mix of international and local delicacies that were delicious. The Lobby offers tea from TWG and I personally loved it. The location is great and there is a valet service that made it very convenient for us. The staff was very accommodating, and overall, the experience is worth the price!

Yelp
The Lobby Lounge at the Peninsula reminds me of that hotel in Assassins, that movie with Antonio Banderas and Sylvester Stallone from 20 years (!) ago. From the minute you walk in, you imagine it as a place where business deals are sealed, where contracts are negotiated, where people stare each other down and utter veiled threats (no, this is no place for yelling or theatrics!). I remember a stormy night sometime last year. My wife and I didn't have food ready at home, and we were anticipating that what would normally be a 10-minute drive home would take around an hour, and we'd get home grumpy and hungry. So we took a detour instead at parked at The Pen, ordered 2 cups of garlic rice and kare-kare, and waited for the traffic to get just a little less crazy. Carefully-curated music, great food, and just a completely different world from that of the street outside. Would I pay that amount again to escape into The Lobby? Heck yeah.

Yelp
Makati city is known to be one of the busiest cities in Manila as it is thr central business district. I work in Makati and my job requires me to meet with several clients and corporates often. It can get difficult to find a good meeting place as most restaurants are loud and busy. Thankfully, we have the lobby at the Peninsula Manila hotel! The lobby of Peninsula is my favorite because of its elegant feel and exquisite design. The lighting during the day just comes from the sun beaming through all their windows. It also has several tables and chairs for people to meet, eat, wait or just lounge around. This is always our go to place for meetings because even if there are so many people around you, you don't seem to be distracted or be drowned out by everything happening. It's designed in a way that is quiet enough for people to converse and meet despite the open space. My favorite time is also at night when the chandeliers and lights are all lit up with classical instrumental music playing in the background.

Yelp
Terrible service. First I order a salad with no dressing and it comes with dressing. No big deal, but then the server says the chef already mixed it in and looks at me like it's rude to send back. Not a problem after they correct my order. But I order dessert ice cream and it doesn't come for 20 min. There's maybe 3 tables with people. When my server sees me, she makes a call and the ice cream appears. It's more than half melted. I hate melted ice cream. Then I try to get anyone's attention and I get ignored because they're not my server. I wanted the check soon so I had to get up and actually just stand there by the register and ask for it. I'm staying long term at this hotel and it's a shame that I won't be going back during my stay.

Yelp
I've had several meetings here, both when I was some telecommuting entrepreneur, to now that I'm working for the government, and I have to say that this is one of my favorite hotel lobbies for business meetings. You just know that this is where things happen, which makes you all the more pumped to get YOUR meeting going, and for it to end at a successful note. Kudos to the staff too for always being nice even if I hog tables and seats for my meetings. They even give us water even though we haven't ordered anything in hours. Also, the aircon is always in full blast, which is refreshing, since most hotel lobbies are usually not that cold. Ah, the little things.

Yelp
We usually go to The Lobby at The Peninsula Manila for Halo Halo. They are touted as having the best Halo Halo in Metro Manila. Well I can't say that this isn't true. It's so very big and so very delicious with the best ingredients topped with ube ice cream. It's definitely a must try. More recently, I had a wedding reception to attend at The Pen. In between the reception and the church service, we decided to have dinner at The Lobby. It was my first time trying their actual meals and I was delighted with the food. We ordered the Pen Beef Burger, Beef Salpicao and the waffles were all quite excellent. Even the Carbonara was good. My sister gobbled it up. As expected, the bill was ridiculous but you get all kinds of perks - Ambience is of course unrivaled. You get to dine with orchestra music. Service is A ++. How can you beat that?

Yelp
The Manila Peninsula Hotel is a storied place. It was built in the 70s as one of the city's premier hotels, and it still has one of the most attractive fountains in the country. More recently, a tank busted down its front during a disorderly coup attempt in 2007. Many important politicians, delegates and celebrities have walked into its lobby, but the real star of the lobby is their halo halo. The dessert delicacy has many versions and can be found in many places, but the Manila Penn Lobby offers the best atmosphere and the largest bowl. It's good for 2 to 3 people--unless you really REALLY REALLY like halo-halo--so make sure to bring friends as its high ceilings and openness make for a great place to have a boisterous conversation. Just make sure not to drive a tank on your way there.
