The Local Kitchen & Drinks

In all my visits to the Local the food has always been great. Can't say that during the last visit on Father's Day. We both had the Farmers breakfast. For $25, you get a Mimosa or a Bloody Mary. They must be the bulk of the cost. The food portions were on the small side. One slice of toast and what was barely 2 eggs. I believe there were two pieces of bacon. We've had this breakfast before and it was much better. I hope it's better the next time we come for brunch

The service here is friendly and the atmosphere is pleasant, making for a nice dining experience overall. However, the food didn’t quite meet expectations. I ordered the **pepperoni pizza**, which was decent but nothing special—fairly average in taste and quality. The **meatballs**, unfortunately, were disappointing. They had too much bread filler and barely any meat, making them taste more like breadballs than actual meatballs. While the staff and vibe are great, the food could use some improvement, especially when it comes to flavor and ingredient quality.

My brother & his fiancée got engaged over the weekend! Both our families were at The Local waiting for them to celebrate post engagement. The location in Wayland is where they had their first date! The staff was super accommodating in all aspects. They let us put out decorations & were even accommodating when a large group of additional family members in the area stopped in for a celebratory drink. The future bride & groom even got complimentary flutes of champagne! Most importantly, the food was delicious. All of us would go back in a heartbeat. I would highly recommend all to check this place out - you won't be disappointed with the level of kindness, attentiveness & yummy food! Thank you again to the staff of The Local in Wayland for making the night so special!

This place offers a welcoming atmosphere, even during the quieter hours between lunch and dinner. The central bar, surrounded by high-top tables, booths, and window seating, is designed to encourage social interaction, making it an ideal spot to meet new people. As a modern American sports bar, it features contemporary American cuisine with generous, feel-good portions. While the food is excellent, the establishment stands out as a great place for late dinners and drinks at the bar. I’m looking forward to returning for the laid-back evening experience.

Update: Came back again and the food has improved. Definitely recommend the honey chicken wrap and chicken tenders. They were really well made and seasoned. The kids portion was large enough for an adult. The five hour short rib and beet salad were great. The margherita pizza was disappointing: it was basically a cheese flatbread pizza with some herbs. Service was fast and friendly.

Originally, my friend had left a negative review about this restaurant about messing up my order and charging my card twice. However, I must take it back after the excellent way the Local staff, specifically Lauren, helped me. After speaking with Lauren on the phone, she cleared up my issues with the double charge (an honest mistake) and sent a very nice apology note with a gift card. We love the food and drinks at the Local and I have not had any other negative experiences prior to this one. The food is great, the servers are always friendly, and the restaurant is comfortable to enjoy your food in. As someone with a gluten allergy, I recommend the fried pickles they are some of the best I’ve ever had! Definitely worth the visit if you are in the area and a big thank you to Lauren for fixing my predicament in such an efficient and timely manner!

Arrived at 7:00 reservation, seated promptly. Was about 50% full. Service was fine, drinks were fine as was the food. End of service we asked for coffee, they had already cleaned the coffee station, 30 minutes before close. That put a downer on the dinner. Was much better my last time there, likely my last visit, many other options out there.

Came for lunch with a friend after a full day of kayak fishing. Realize I wasn’t the best dressed but this isn’t Capital Grille or Ruth Chris. That being said I wasn’t completely disheveled just not dressed like I normally would when I come here. Which USED to be somewhat frequently as I live 2 minutes from here on post. Host asked us if it’s ok to seat us at a high table near the bar and away from the main dining area. I immediately said it’s fine. After getting seated my buddy told me he’s had bad experiences in this particular location sitting. Didn’t think much of it. Our waiter, Brian, came relatively quick. Not a problem. First thing he says is do you know what you want? We both replied yes. Before we even had a chance to breath, he replies, “well you gonna let me know anytime soon?” Was thinking in my head, bro give us a millisecond to respond. Put in our order and he just disappears into thin air. Doesn’t tell any servers around him nor does he inform us. Aside from a different server or might have been a busgirl bringing out our app, we had zero service for about 30minutes. We finally got fed up and said something to a passing waitress. Heavy set brunette who wasn’t all that pleasant to deal with either. Didn’t seem happy we were displeased with not getting any service for extended periods of time. The only saving grace was believe her name was Caroline. During Brian’s disappearing act she took over all his duties and helped us as best she could and she was fantastic. Never coming back here again. Brian left a real sour taste in my mouth and my buddy said he’s had several bad experiences with him before as well. We were not rude to you in any shape or form Brian. You earned this scathing review and I’m sure you don’t think it’s a big deal losing 2 occasional customers but maybe your fellow servers and managers do. Hope you do well and learn from experiences like this. I have and won’t be returning.
