The Best Restaurants On Long Beach Island - Jersey Shore - The Infatuation

"You want to get breakfast, but don’t feel like waiting an hour to go to one of the diners and then getting knocked out by some cream cheese-stuffed french toast and chipped beef covered in gravy. Go to The Local, a casual market right by the foot of the bridge in Ship Bottom, where you can sit outside and read the paper while drinking coffee and eating a pork roll, egg, and cheese. They also serve really good sandwiches until 5pm Mondays-Saturdays and until 4pm on Sundays, so pick up a roast beef with horseradish cheddar on your way to the beach or as a snack for the road on your way off the island." - alison kessler, regan stephens, matt tervooren, tonya russell

Google
Always a great experience here. The staff are very helpful and the food is amazing. The shrimp roll is so good, and there is always such a nice variety of drinks. I like that it is in close proximity to the beach and they have a clean bathroom. Even when it is crowded, they keep the line moving and know how to manage everything. There is always a wide selection of baked goods and other snacks. All the food that you order from the counter is very good. The fries were a bit soggy once, but other than that, we have never had a bad experience.

We were visiting family and looking for a breakfast spot on the island, so we decided to give this place a try. Be prepared, it’s extremely busy and can feel a bit overwhelming. It wasn’t clear where lines started or which areas were for ordering vs. pickup, which made the experience a little stressful. Unfortunately, the person who took our order seemed visibly unhappy to be there and wasn’t particularly friendly. Seriously had way too much attitude. (We were there on 8/12 around 10:30 am.) As a mom of two young kids spending $50 on breakfast and lattes, a bit of courtesy would’ve gone a long way. The food and drinks were fine, but the service left a lot to be desired. Based on service alone I won't be back.

Google
There was just so much to take in here. There was a place to order fun or casual coffees, breakfast sandwiches, so many snacks (locally made or just fun brands), bakery items, and grocery staples like tomato sauce and box mac and cheese. If this place was closer to where I was staying on the island I'm sure I'd stop here all the time. I got their smores iced coffee and it was very fun and very yum. I wish I had gotten one of their pop tarts as well, they looked unreal.

Google
Amazing breakfast sandwiches, good coffee, very overpriced though for what it is sometimes, but the breakfast sandwiches are totally worth it. Some of the staff is really nice, but some of them are like so so the coffee is nice but the breakfast food is the way to go.

Google
The Local at LBI is awesome! Gives you a visiting your family home feel shop! Where you can purchase delicious breakfast sandwiches, baked goods, and delicious coffee. The owner greeted you at the door and ensured you knew where to go! Poptarts were delicious and the iced espresso Mexican churro id drink all day.

Google
Phenomenal coffee & food items. I got a turkey club in a gluten free wrap and was not disappointed. Thwy also have gluten free cookie and rice Krispy treats. The cinnamon bun latte was also delicious. Great seating area. I will definitely be back.

Dani

Google
The coffee and food here is so so good!! The line was fairly long, but moved pretty fast which was great and the food we ordered came out right on time. I got the salted caramel latte, and a turkey salad wrap. Amazing and worth the wait!

Katie Lillard

Google
very busy but the line went quick. the iced salted caramel cookie latte was very good and the brown sugar cinnamon poptart was amazing!

Yelp
The food, trinkets, and coffee here are really good, with cold coffee being a specialty in these beach towns. I had my usual cappuccino, which was good but not amazing. This place is extremely busy in the morning; it's chaotic, but it works. There's a line where you order and pay for items, while the deli operates separately where you order, pay, and wait for your name to be called. The prices are high, with a sandwich and a wrap costing $30. Although the food is excellent, it is expensive, likely due to the need to balance costs during the quieter, colder seasons. The place is very cute with awesome trinkets everywhere, including bread, desserts, turkey jerky, latte candles, and a bucket of chips with various flavors. Overall, it's a bit pricey, and seating is first-come, first-serve with no waiters. There was a live musician, adding a nice touch to the atmosphere. The workers seemed happy and worked well as a team. I recommend it for a quick breakfast sandwich or a bite to eat.

Yelp
We have used the Local several times in the last two years for party platters and they are consistently great and the staff is helpful and goes out of their way to help. The meatballs are delish. Ziti is tasty. Chicken Marsala and the Kale/Brussels sprouts Caesar salad are both excellent. Highly recommend using them. It's a lovely spot on the island, too. Delicious cookies.

Yelp
This place is the BOMB for breakfast or brunch! It's such a cute little shop with delicious sandwiches, a certified BANGER of the Sweet Treat From The Store club, and thr friendliest staff around! The only thing I'm not the biggest fan of is their coffee but that's personal preference and their refreshers and selection more than make up for that! If you're on the island, this place is a MUST!

Yelp
When my bestie told me that she often frequently comes here prior to parking on the beach next to me, I knew I had to make my own personal visit. I didn't know what to expect, but she always recommended true gems in LBI. Breakfast is a great choice when coming here for the very first time. Massive food selection from custom made requests to ready made sandwiches to grab and go. The outside of this place is very welcoming and charming for those that want to savor the morning cool breeze off the ocean. The staff is very bubbly and friendly and ready to answer all of your questions. I personally thought their offering of whole coffee beans and other choice merchandise made this place all the more appealing. I made sure to grab myself a long sleeve shirt as a souvenir which had wonderful feel and comfort. I decided to get for the beach their smoked mozzarella, pesto and roasted peppers sandwich, their turkey coleslaw thousand island dressing sandwich, and sesame cream, cheese bagel. Their prices are more than fair, especially for the area and I look forward to further exploring their menu. The next time we come down for a weekend visit.

Yelp
My favorite place in LBI. It's so casual and cute. I love their specialty coffees. They have a wide array of items, sandwiches and bakery items. I can't wait to come back!
google avatar

Samantha A.

Yelp
I completely love this place. They have the best matcha that I have ever had. The crafted lattes are unique and the cold brew is always so fresh and match their flavor profile. We have also tried their breakfast sandwiches that are always fresh and good. The outdoor seating is convenient and the staff is always happy to serve you. This place is adorable both inside and out. Can't wait for my next trip!
google avatar

Nicole F.

Yelp
The vibes are definitely costal beachy and cute to see. I was very disappointed in the latte I got, unfortunately. It was very watered down and just overall was not what I was expecting. The strawberry pop-tart I will say was very good and worth the hype. All the other pastries unfortunately not. I got a blueberry scone that had no flavor and a cinnamon that just tasted blah. I was expecting more from this place and it was a little bit of a let down. I will try it again on my next visit to see if their other's sandwich's or specialty coffee are better!

Yelp
The layout of this location is poorly designed. I wanted to really like it and thought the issues I noticed on my first and second visits were just one-offs. However, the problems persist. The menus are not easily accessible, making it difficult to find information on food options, breakfast sandwiches, and the best ways to order coffee (and then pick it up) The owners seem to have focused heavily on the visual appeal of the place, which is charming, but they've neglected the practical aspects that make for a seamless customer experience. A few changes could make a big difference. For example, ensuring menus are prominently displayed and easy to read would save customers from unnecessary confusion and delays. Adding clear signage to indicate where different food items, like breakfast sandwiches, can be found, and how to best navigate the ordering process, would also be a huge improvement. It's clear that the staff is doing their best with what they have--they are efficient, friendly, and clearly well-trained. However, their efforts are undermined by the current layout and lack of information. By investing a bit of time and thought into making these changes, the owners could greatly enhance the customer experience, transforming this charming spot into a truly five star must try place...p

Yelp
We love the local! Their lattes and baked goods are all must try's. My one qualm is that the layout is a bit challenging as it can be hard to tell where lines start and end. Definitely try the churro latte!
google avatar

Kate Y.

Yelp
Came here 3 times during our stay: Tried two of the special iced lattes (keep in mind that these don't come with a lid due to the height of the whipped cream and any other toppings, so it could get messy for to-go): - s'mores (not my favorite) - coconut cream (this was a winner for me) Tried some sandwiches: - Italian hoagie (high quality deli meat) - philly (love the addition of broccoli rabe) - tuna melt - hamburger This reminds me of places you would find in NYC. It is a bit pricey, but the portions are big (in terms of the sandwiches).
google avatar

Yelp
Impressed with the quality of the fresh food. Everything in the deli case looked fresh! I ordered a chicken Parmesan sandwich with vodka sauce and ricotta. It was really good. The bread was excellent and the cutlet was really big. The sandwich is huge. I also got some rolls and Irish soda bread to go and a cappuccino. The Irish soda bread was excellent. The rolls were soft on the inside but the outside was a bit tough. Overall, I highly recommend this spot. They have an area outside to eat there that is enclosed and heated in the colder months.
google avatar

Matt D.

Yelp
Local Market is great! We were looking for a quick lunch (fresh food, counter service, with some outdoor tables), and Local was recommended to us. There is so much to choose from -- they have a deli with lots of prepared sides and pre-made options (wings, sandwiches, salads, etc.), as well as a to-order menu with even more options. This place is great if you're looking for a beach picnic or need to stock up the cooler with snacks and drinks for a day at the beach. They have a lot of vegetarian options as well as some seafood classics. There really is something on the menu for everyone.
google avatar

Sam M.

Yelp
Local is one of the best sandwich shops on the island! You can't go wrong when ordering from here. They tailor to those seeking breakfast or lunch, with choices ranging from breakfast sandwiches and pastries to coffees and speciality drinks to deli meat and hardy sandwiches. An inside look on my lunch: The caprese sandwich is a mouthwatering creation! The star ingredient is a crispy, golden-brown chicken cutlet. The tender and flavorful cutlet is placed on a fresh, toasted Italian roll. On top of the chicken cutlet, you'll find slices of ripe Jersey tomatoes, fresh mozzarella cheese, covered in a basil pesto and balsamic glaze. As a side I picked up a fruity pebbles marshmallow treat. The sweetness of the marshmallow dances across my tastebuds. However the crunchy texture of the fruity pebbles stole the shoe. To. Die. For!

Yelp
This place is absolutely incredible! From the fresh brewed coffee's to the fresh pastries they have daily you literally cannot go wrong with anything you order here! Be warned, there is always a long line, but totally worth it and some of the help is a little young but if you're patient, you'll get your order and then some! This is a Total jersey shore, hidden gem been coming here for years, you guys gotta check it out !
google avatar

Brynn P.

Yelp
SO GOOD! When I'm back on the East coast visiting family, I need to stop here. This is such a fun and eclectic market with so many good food and drink options. Will admit, this is a bit on the pricier side, so be prepared to dish out a few more dollars. Staff was nice and friendly and willing to help out where needed. Can't wait to go back!
google avatar

Sean C. B.

Yelp
First class in everything they serve! Quality items that are perfect for the Jersey Shore! Grab and go breakfast sandwiches with free coffee (macadamia coffee!) during the week! I definitely recommend the Local market & kitchen!
google avatar

Rachael W.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious and will definitely be back! While it was busy when we arrived, it didn't phase the amazing staff who were friendly and efficient. We stopped by to order sandwiches for lunch and every single one was delicious! We tried the walking taco, horseradish roast beef, local burger and the Italians--all of which we recommend. There are prepackaged foods to grab and go, as well as a little market to pick up items you may need to cook at home. While we didn't order any coffees, they looked amazing from the customers who had them while relaxing on the patio. The overall atmosphere was very cute, updated and most importantly clean.
google avatar

Carly R.

Yelp
If you are deterred by lines - please make this the spot you wait for! Line moves quick and it barely gives you enough to pick between all the amazing options. Specialty lattes are super sweet but a necessity. Also love the regular cold brew and have to get a coffee/crumb cake piece every time I come. Loved that they had baked in Brooklyn bread, which is a family owned bakery a block away from my home in Brooklyn that bakes fresh every single day. The local is the place to be in LBI.
google avatar

Cynthia A.

Yelp
This place is so cute ! Perfect place to grab a quick bite Morning or night. I was in LBI for a quick staycation and grabbed a breakfast sandwich with a basil lemonade. Everything was yummy. There's also fresh coffee, desserts and an assortment of other items. I would definitely check this place out again next time I'm in LBI
google avatar

Yelp
I was really teetering on 3 or 4 stars here but I think the overall quality of everything was a 3. The Local is a super cute fun spot for a nice lunch or breakfast but it also has a whole market inside. They have a deli with a nice selection of sandwiches, a ton of pre made things all ready to grab, and a huge section of spices and dressings. I got two sandwiches, the chipotle turkey and the French ham. The chipotle turkey was great, packed with fresh ingredients and a great amount of meat. The French ham I truly wanted to love but the bread was so stale on it, it wasn't great. I also snagged a breakfast burrito which was truly just OK, nothing to write home about. I also wanted to get some coffee so I got a black iced and decided to get one of their refreshers. They have a ton of options which is really nice but the drink itself fell short. The desert pear was wayy too sweet. Really couldn't even drink it, it went down the drain. Next was the baked goods. Yummm, they have a great selection. The Italian rainbow crumb was just something I had to get and it was good, not great but enough to satisfy a sweet tooth. The cake pop could've been skipped - it was nothing special. The chocolate croissant however - to die for. So flaky and perfect, extra chocolatey and delectably crunchy. If nothing else - stop in for a croissant. They have a ton of Instagram worthy lattes and fun options but as other reviews mentioned, everything is on the sweeter side. Overall I think they're a little over priced for what they're selling but hey, they're busy and the hype is real so good for them. Just do some menu searching before ya go!

Jacey H.

Yelp
I am so glad we came back. The food was amazing, and I love how everything is made to order. The employees were super nice and their outdoor patio is great even in the cold/rain. It adds a nice bit of privacy and makes this spot so great. Hope you guys can come in and try it.
google avatar

Lyzeth S.

Yelp
Got the s'mores latte, bacon egg and cheese and strawberry pop tart. All were awesome!
google avatar

Julie S.

Yelp
I stopped in on my walk during a weekend stay for a wedding for a coffee and was amazed by the spread of goodies .... The day we checked out we had some time to kill so we stopped in to get a little snack and coffee. My husband got a bacon egg and cheese sandwich and he liked it . I got one of the quiches off of the pastry spread... it was just placed cold in the bag I asked if it could be heated and was told no. So I had to eat it cold .... Hence the three stars ... the line was long but it moved quickly ... I strongly suggest a small microwave in the coffee area for those of us that don't enjoy cold eggs
google avatar

Stephanie P.

Yelp
I have to beg my husband to stop off here at the start or end of our vacation coming from the bridge. It's always busy in season but sometimes you get lucky and can pop in after the lunch rush and it's empty for a nice selection of pastries or coffee drinks. We also order ahead for sandwiches to avoid the lines - their little coffee car outside is great for a quick coffee + breakfast sandwiches or muffins, and you can find a spot to sit outside. I adore this place but wish the lines/indoor traffic was better managed given how popular this place is. Often times there is only one register opened by the bakery - if they divided the coffee/pastry customers from the grill/grab & go customers with two distinct lines and utilized all their registries (esp during the peak busy hours) it would be SO MUCH better. Consider this you guys, it will help you out as much as the customers!!

Marian J B.

Yelp
One of the best places on the island, great food great, baked products, great coffees, love the music outside and the staff is always greeting you with a smile and happy attitude! You'll love it!

Sammy G.

Yelp
best coffee and pastries around!! my go to when I want coffee, tea, pastries... Their deli counter area always looks great! Will definitely have to try!
google avatar

Julian B.

Yelp
Great selection of products and quality is clear. Also super nice staff and efficient even when busy. Highly recommended. Had the Italian hoagie and pop tart. Rainbow cookies and pie to go...
google avatar

Denise Z.

Yelp
Food got so much better than my past reviews. We ordered the tuna melt that's smothered in havarti cheese, lettuce and tomato. Delicious! I ordered the turkey Joe that's the same as a Reuben with turkey made as a panini! Excellent! We brought home Korean flank steak, chocolate coffee crumb cake, crab cakes, wild salmon, eggplant stacks, chicken Cesar salad, and a salmon Cesar salad always great to grab some stuff and just heat up. Everything is local and excellent. The Bread and some pastries are from NY. The coffee is the best my daughter loved her girl scout cookie latte and hubby loves the Jamaican coffee.

Lori B.

Yelp
We had been going there since they first opened but have been avoiding it because of the lack food freshness. In a rush today stopped for a caprese sandwich which probably was the worst sandwich I ever had. Couldn't finish it. Sour mozzarella, 2 skimpy slices of prosciutto and drenched in balsamic vinegar.
google avatar

George B.

Yelp
These sandwiches are great! I particularly recommend the Italian and buffalo chicken sandwiches. You better be hungry, they certainly are not small. A good spot for a quick bite on your way to or from the beach.

Danielle R.

Yelp
10/10 A staple every time we're on the island! The Turkey BLT is a favorite, but you can do no wrong with the menu! The workers are always friendly and the ordering + checkout is seamless.
google avatar

Raúl R.

Yelp
I was driving to Atlantic City and got hungry and found this place. They had so much stuff and it all looked delicious. I had the Clam Po Boy and the grill cheese. The Po Boy was so good. The clams were crunchy. The grill cheese was simple but it was perfect. The sourdough bread was toasted @raulvsfood on Instagram

Yelp
I came here this afternoon before I left to go home . I was always intrigued by their photos on IG/ Facebook . This little spot lives up to the hype . As they say , you really do eat with your eyes . This place really knows how to present their food / pastries ! The staff is extremely friendly and the service is fast . The atmosphere has a homey feel and they even have someone playing music outside where you can eat . I ordered a brownie, pop tart and cinnamon roll . The brownie reminded me of a little Debbie style brownie aka very fudgey! The cinnamon roll& pop tart were jam packed with brown sugar goodness . I tasted my husbands coffee it was full bodied and delicious !

Nancy D.

Yelp
Got couple of sandwiches with drinks, plus coffee, tab came out around $55. Fine. I'm pretty sure this place makes ton of money during the summer from unsuspecting tourists but this is not ok with me. First there's no price for the drinks, I only found out how much they were after I got rung up. There are extra fees for certain drinks where I thought it was all included. They also charge you extra for "seasonal" drinks whatever that means. This is not about the meager extra charges for my drinks but all about principle. I highly support local small businesses but when they nickel and dime you for every drip of syrup, it's a real turn off. Let's face it, the margins on tap water/half cup of ice drinks are very, high. Not to mention they're pricier than Starbucks. Either way, went down the street to How You Brewin', reasonable up front pricing with legit coffee, no hidden fees. Moral of the story, made extra dollar but lost a returning customer.
google avatar

Krisztina P.

Yelp
The best spot in lbi! They have everything you need and everything you want. From fun unique pastries, amazing sandwiches, salads, breakfast wraps, and random groceries, they are the 1 stop shop for all of your grocery needs. They also have an amazing coffee/tea menu. The macadamia nut cold brew is my fave, and all of their teas are also delicious.
google avatar

Cydney B.

Yelp
I love the local. Coffee is excellent, specials are always interesting, pastries are fantastic and the breakfast sammys are sooo good. Definitely going to have to wait in line on the weekends in the morning but they move fast and it's worth the wait. Favorites: bacon egg and cheese, Nutella poptart
google avatar

Rachel S.

Yelp
New favorite place on the island for a quick bite! Ordered a bean wrap and sushirito (ahi tuna sushi wrap) along with a Brussels salad and shared with my sister. All of it was delicious and fresh! Highly recommend and look forward to trying the other items on the menu in the future

Meghan H.

Yelp
I have been going here since they opened but today will be the last time. Things I used to buy regularly have literally tripled in price. I didn't realize until after I ordered. Unreal to go from 3.50 for an egg roll to 7.99. $11 for a below average iced coffee. They have nerve and inflation doesn't excuse those prices. Never going back.

George S.

Yelp
Everything is awesome, everything! Stopped by the end of summer party. Got the Philly cheesesteak egg roll, 6 shrimp cocktail, and 6 Oysters. Everything was delicious. BYOB wine and a quart from Ship Bottom Brewery. Dessert was a s'mores and was awesome. Please keep pets out of the store. The is no room for them and unsanitary. There are many spots outside to tie them up.

Mark V.

Yelp
Good, but expensive. Pastrami Joe sandwich and sushirito wrap was good, but Greek salad with 3 small pieces of feta, one grape leaf roll pretty skimpy.

Justin M.

Yelp
I look forward to this place every time I come to LBI. They got amazing food, I definitely recommend the Philly sandwich

Jenny T.

Yelp
Always great service and great coffee! Haven't tried a lot of the food there but the food I tried was good!
google avatar

Kelly M.

Yelp
#232 The Local is perfection! They have ever and anything you could want! As you walk in , make a left for the fresh made market ! They have a yummy menu made to order and then they have food that is cold that you can order to go. In the morning they have a big Taylor ham and egg sandwich. The Local also has a home like feel with there baristas making you speciality coffees and teas. There pastries are very tempting! They also have homemade bread and rolls ! You can't go wrong at the Local. COVID 19 : wear mask , social diStance, follow arrows on floors They have a fire pit and tables outside eating and they have an extension of the Local under a tent for warmer eating area ! Overall this place is perfect for a move day out for a coffee , tea , lunch, breakfast , dessert. Perfect for takeout meals to warm at home.
google avatar

Lillian W.

Yelp
Been here many times. Fantastic food, and nice staff behind the food counter. But the coffee bar counter cashier is consistently terrible thus minus one star. Regardless who's in that job, the person always has an attitude and is unpleasant, which always takes away a bit of joy I have walking into the otherwise wonderful place. If they can fix that personnel problem, this would be a five star place.
google avatar

Steve F.

Yelp
I don't generally review unless I really have something to say about an experience I have had with a specific business. In this case I have been going to and using 'The Local' for several years on the recommendation of a family member. It is a regular stop for my family and me every time we come on or go off of the island (LBI). Every food experience I have had here has been very good. They have something special. I have ordered (both pre and during COVID) catering, coffee, tea, desserts, deli counter, market, etc. They just have a great product and take pride in what they do. My favorites include: meatballs (wow), crab cakes (wow), sushirito (yum), homemade pop tarts (crazy but so good), Mac nut coffee ground... This place is very popular for a reason. They have found something they love to do and do it well. It is obvious. Keep up the good work!

Chris R.

Yelp
Long line, stale and dry donut and cinnamon bun. Worst Boston crème donut I've had and way overpriced. Very little cream, which was a little sour, and the donut was very dry. Cinnamon bun was also very dry.
google avatar

Rohit R.

Yelp
Great place to grab lunch and baked goods, among other things. You can tell from your first bite that the food made here is made with fresh and quality ingredients. Definitely give the Fried Green Tomato BLT when you go, the fried tomatoes and chipotle ranch adds a lot of flavor to this BLT. They also have several dairy-free dessert options that my wife loved.
google avatar

David S.

Yelp
Quality store with freshly made sandwiches or grab and go. The deli counter is very nice and really appetizing. I normally get the Italian hero it's my go to but there's some real nice choices as well, and the drinks are great
google avatar

Nicole N.

Yelp
If I can give the local 10 stars I would! This is the BEST coffee shop around. You need to order a Hawaiian Macadamia coffee. During the summer I get iced and then I'll get hot if it's that type of morning! The pumpkin spice is also delicious. The breakfast sandwiches are out of this world! They also have a whole counter of fresh made food to choose from and then they have sections with some grab and go things. Their pastries and baked goods are something that beats most bakeries! The ambiance is also so inviting. They have a great outdoor area. They also host special events like pop up shops and live music. If you are making a trip to LBI, make a stop here!
