The Lodge at Natchez Trace

My parents have been living at The Lodge for 6 months now. We have been very happy with the care and attention that they have received there. We especially love the balcony that looks out over the woods, it makes it feel like a home. The cat loves the balcony and the opportunity to do a little bird watching. The nursing staff is proactive about making sure that they are receiving the care they need. They communicate with the Blue Sky Housecalls who is onsite once a week and serves as their PCP to help get labs get taken and reported to the proper doctors. Med changes and med administration are handled efficiently. The onsite Physical Therapist is also super helpful and kind. The caregivers are compassionate and very helpful as we deal with daily changes of needs due to dementia. The facilities manager was very helpful when we moved in and has continued to be helpful when things need attention in the room. Food and activities are also worth writing about. Quality food is such an important aspect of quality of life, and they do a good job of providing tasty and healthy meals that are well prepared. The activities director has a great rapport with the residents and goes out of his way to make them feel comfortable and engaged with a variety of activities. This is not the only assisted living facility that they've lived in, so we have some other experiences for comparison. The Lodge provides equal (or better) care to what they received at more expensive facilities. I wanted to write this review to debunk some of the negative reviews that I've seen online. Of course, places like this are hard to staff, and there will be turnover and some disgruntled employees (and temps) who have bad days like everyone, but seems there was a change over in management right before we moved in and they've worked to address those issues. We've found the current staff and administration to be very responsive and helpful.

My mother was in the Lodge for 18 months. She was initially in assisted living and was moved to memory care as her dementia progressed. Russell and his staff did a phenomenal job caring for her and we are blessed and beyond grateful to have found such a loving, caring environment for both her and the family. Highly recommend!

My father lived at The Lodge for 2 1/2 years, and through three different administrators. There have been significant ups and downs with the changes in management over the years, but I can honestly say that the Lodge is at its best with the current team! The activities and outings offered have always been one of my dad's favorite aspects of the Lodge. He also loved the caregivers, the food, and the general homey feeling of this facility.

I have lived at The Lodge for 8 years. The rooms are large. I love my balcony. I don’t feel like I’m in a retirement home but like I’m in a vacation home. The food is great. The staff are sweet and kind. I love the trees and wildlife and the courtyard with the vegetables and the patio outside the dining room. We have a great nursing staff, caregivers, good food and service, therapy, prompt maintenance, great housekeepers and. Laundry staff.. We have music, exercise, and other activities and church services on Sunday. I love the family atmosphere.And our squirrel ( Little Buddy) loves sunflower seed..

The staff at the Lodge truly sees each resident as family. The staff and management make sure to get to know each resident on a personal level, which includes knowing the residents’ family, their likes/ dislikes, history and hobbies. They really work to engage each resident in the community to ensure their social, mental and emotional needs are met. You can see staff members giving residents hugs or holding their hands. There is a lot of love at The Lodge and the management has high expectations of the staff to deliver the highest quality of care. The staff works together as a team. It is a great place to be. I highly recommend it.

My mother was at another local facility in the same area as The Lodge. After having some issues with the management trying to bully me into putting my mother in their memory care, I decided that if I was going to move her it would be to another facility. I visited The Lodge, liked the smaller atmosphere, and moved her in October of 2022. The nurses and caregivers there have been so good to my mother since her move. They treat her like family and truly love her. They have recently had some management changes but the people that “touch” my mother on a regular basis are still the same. There were some serious issues that were being “swept under the rug” unnoticed by some residents but noticed by family members that visit often. They are doing their best to make positive changes. People don’t like change but in the long run some changes will turn out for the best. Everyone deserves a chance! I appreciate the new administration and their willingness to come into a horrible situation and listen to a lot of criticism for just trying to bring things up to CMS and the Tennessee Dept. of Health regulations. This will help all the residents stay safe in the long run. My mother has stroke related dementia but she loves her “faces” as she calls them, and I love them too!

The Lodge is clean and cozy community that truly feels like home. Residents and staff become an extended family. New leadership is very hands on and approachable. I would recommend for your loved one.

Reading the reviews lately is heartbreaking and I felt compelled to add my insight. My mother moved here a year ago and while we were very happy with the friendliness and accommodations, frequently errors were made in her care and miscommunications were very common. When new management came, some of the staff who we had grown to love were let go or left. However as new people are being placed in management, I am seeing big improvements in quality of care and safety. They are still working through the kinks, but the vision is there and I can say Valerie and Dana are eager to sit down and address any concerns and I have actually seen changes be implemented quickly when brought to their attention. They have our family members best interest in mind. They are fixing a very broken system that many of us were blinded to until new management uncovered the issues. The decision to make meals be strongly encouraged in the dining room has brought many residents out of the rooms and the energy in the dining room is increasing. While many were unhappy with the added room service charge, I can say it has helped encourage community meals which is good to prevent isolation and loneliness and I fully support that decision. There are still changes being made but I plan to stick around for the ride as things are definitely on the mend and I see the end game being much better than what we had last year.

They have a whole new management staff from Executive Director, Director of nursing and Marketing Director. The Lodge is a beautiful rustic ALF. Exceptional care and warm family feel. It's so worth a visit and tour.

do not put your loved one here. this is what happened to my mom today as she was released from the hospital to go to rehab but insurance turned it down . my sister tried 10 times to call the Lodge and no one answered until aworker passing in the hall picked up. then they refused to let her back into her room saying they didn't have enough nursing help to care for her. poor frail 94 year old mama who can hardly sit up she's so weak from lung and heart issues has been sitting for 2 hours in the lobby as my sister tries to work it out. she had to threatennthem that this shouldn't be happening as they didn't answer the phone all morning before she was discharged. just now they finally agreed to let her come in with someone working out home healthcare to come in. Is this how you want your loved one treated? The head nurse has just quit and she's not even been with them but a few months! Please be careful. There is some good things about the place but the bad things make it not worth your consideration

This is an assisted living facility. It is nice, however they are nothing more than way overpriced babysitters and watch the patients meds because they will come up missing. There isn't a whole lot of care, they'll send them out to a hospital of they need anything basically to get rid of them for the night or week. There is zero actual care even in special units. Pretty but not worth the cost. Giving 1 star because I have to at least have one for Yelp.

INCREDIBLE STAFF! They treated my grandmother like family for 3 years in memory care. They would call and update us. In the beginning when her mind was better, she had plenty of activities to do. They are great about taking them out different places to stay active. The food is great. The staff really takes care of their people.

The Lodge at Natchez Trace is the best thing that has happened to my mom in a long time. Living there has truly brought her back to life. They take great care of their residents. They always have new, original activities, and they have a lot of family events. They have better food than any other assisted living facility I have seen. The staff is incredibly friendly. I cannot say enough good things about this place. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for an assisted living facility or memory care facility for their family members!
