We enjoyed our stay during the off season. Great location! All staff was very nice; especially Millie at the restaurant. Great breakfast on outdoor patio. Very dog friendly property. Easily walkable to everything. Rooms are a bit dated, but quiet. Fan is quite loud. Beds comfortable. Nice to have balcony with views.

Bryan Finocchiaro went above and beyond to make my stay excellent! We were treated with so much kindness and support! My mom is disabled so they picked us up and took us wherever we needed to go. I also have a large dog that they welcomed and went above and beyond for. Truly exceptional service! Highly recommend!

Rooms very dated. A/C not able to cool room down and was checked out to be running properly. Sink not clean. Iron not working, fixed shades, tv box hangs exposed below tv..Place just seems tired and needs a major renovation. Maid service every other day; not accustomed to this in a hotel. Staff nice and location very good.

Rooms can wonderful depending on your specific room and the vibe is definitely a ski lodge feel. The overall ambiance is classy however there needs to be way better water pressure in the showers and the front desk associates could be more buttoned up. Location is absolutely prime for access to the gondola and village.

We stayed at the 2-bedroom residence at the village center. The residence was well equipped for long stays and within walking distance to restaurants and Vail village stores. The view from the balcony is breathtaking. The service at the front desk and valet are top notch. There were complimentary cookies and hot chocolate at the hotel lobby every afternoon. The gym was well equipped. There is also Vail bus stop very close to the hotel as well as complimentary hotel shuttle to nearby attractions. I hope to be back soon. Ideal hotel for families.

We got to the first room, there were a couple of minor issues, they took care of it, went downstairs, spoke to Katie, the manager, the next day, she upgraded us to a suite. It was unbelievable, the view was remarkable, the entire staff at the hotel, from the front desk, to the restaurant, everything was perfect, including the location. I can’t wait to go back next year. I would highly recommend The Lodge. Thank you, Dan and Dianna Provenzano

Google
The location, service, and people make this stay wonderful. You can literally walk outside of the lodge and be on the gondola within 2 minutes. The food is absolutely wonderful. The location in the village is perfect with tons of great restaurants, shops, and experiences very nearby.

Best place to stay in Vail! Feels like home. Every time I come here I feel like I am welcome and anything I need is promptly taken care of. The history of the lodge is also intriguing too me! Go stay here! I promise you will have the best time of your life and the convenience to gondola 1 is unmatched!

Yelp
A fantastic spot! The location can't be beat, yet it was very peaceful and quiet when I was there in October. The staff were so kind, warm, and helpful. The king suite was really incredible. So spacious and comfortable. The only downside is the bathroom and first floor smelled like gas during my stay! Those there said it always did.

Yelp
Management staff is beyond rude. They put me in a substandard room i did not reserve in the dungeon of the property. Housekeeping did not service room for 4 days. And finally i woke to the ceiling leaking in the room ruining a very expensive purse belonging to my wife amongst other personal items. Again - and i cannot state this strongly enough - when these issues were brought to management's attention, they were rude, dismissive, and condescending. DO NOT STAY HERE.

Zayden R.

Yelp
The man at the front desk was very sweet. Hotel room was very fancy. Bathroom was pretty and there was a hot tub. Pool was nice. We had our own padio. There was a fridge and microwave. The lobby was very well decorated.

Yelp
I have stayed at Lodge at Vail on approximately 5 different occasions. Each time, I say that I won't return but do because of the proximity to Gondola One. This trip is the absolute last time I will stay here given how tired and overpriced the property is. Everywhere we went on the property something was broken: outdoor hot tub, spa showers and spa hot tub, coffee maker in our room. Even the morning coffee they put out is gone within 30 minutes and never refilled. Given that there is no grab and go breakfast option at Cucina, it is a hassle before heading out for a day of skiing to find something quick to eat on property. Additionally, this is the second year in a row that we have struggled to have hot water in our room. And, our room was tiny, horribly appointed and directly under Elways where we listened to kitchen noise every night. Despite calling management, on several issues, no one ever responded. With so many good options in Vail Village, this hotel should be overlooked until Vail Resorts gives it much needed and overdo rehaul.

Yelp
Air conditioning did not work in my room. Great location but dates. Loved their flavored water machined. I was there for a meeting. However, very dated. Food was ok.

Yelp
My husband and I got married on Vail Mountain and stayed at the Lodge at Vail. I contacted Christoper McRoy, the hotel GM to let him know that we were coming back to celebrate our anniversary at the hotel. He was very responsive and to our surprise they went above and beyond to make our trip memorable!! We are already talking about our future anniversary trips and we are definitely returning! They listen to their guests and deliver. Customer service is not dead and knowing we had a lot of hotel choices, we made the right one! Thank you to the entire staff at the LAV!

Yelp
It's getting a little tired, but still a great establishment in a great downtown Vail location. The spa is wonderful -- couples massage was so relaxing. The pool needs an update of painting some stains. The staff is very helpful and courteous and the rooms are spacious. Did not eat here but I understand the food is good too.

Yelp
The Lodge needs a redo desperately. The spa and fitness center were great and the valets were very helpful. The property is so old and worn that it felt like staying in a motel, not a $600-800/night property. The proximity to ski lifts can't be beat and they are clearly capitalizing on this and not feeling the need to maintain their property. The furniture is chipped, the paint is peeling off the walls, the bathroom was tiny and ancient and had a pocket door instead of a real door and the pocket door was almost nonfunctional. It was hard to tell if the room was clean or dirty because everything was so old and worn I could not tell if it was dirty or just way beyond its days. The front desk staff acted like they were doing me a favor every time I asked them something and 4 different employees claimed to be unable to find a package I had delivered from Walmart, until I showed them a photo where the delivery driver was standing on a Lodge at Vail logo rug. Suddenly and almost immediately they could find it. It is a very expensive hotel due to the location which is excellent, but I could not bring myself to pay 600-800 per night to stay here again, even if it is close to the lifts, until they update it. Sad to see because it used to be so nice!

Phil G.

Yelp
I read several reviews before staying here. Most of the complaints were petty grievances about someone not being completely entitled during their stay. The location is excellent, the property is aging, service was excellent. Biggest complaint was the noise of the bed. Inconvenient for romance...the tv only played SiriusXM Top 40 which sucked.

Gunnar M.

Yelp
I stayed at this hotel over MLK weekend 2022. The checkin process, valet, and room service were all very quick & efficient. All the staff I interacted with were friendly & knowledgeable which made a first-time Vail visitor like me comfortable. The hotel offers valet service for both cars and ski/snowboard equipment. There is also a boot room to drop off & clean your ski/snowboard boots. While the rooms were rather small, the amenities are amazing. The heated outdoor pool & jacuzzis made for an incredible experience. We were swimming outside in the middle of snow-capped mountains - definitely an experience to remember! Location is also excellent as you're right in the middle of Vail Village with easy access to ski/snowboard rental shops, restaurants, and chair lifts. Highly recommend staying here!

Yelp
Lodge at Vail is a super cute hotel right in the heart of vail village. Staff was super friendly. Hotel was really clean and comfortable. Rooms were cozy with balcony's that overlook the mountains. We stayed for two nights and don't have any complaints. It's near all the restaurants and stores. Checking in and out was super quick. Would stay here again

Yelp
Let's start with the positive. This hotel is centrally located in Vail. Their morning lobby coffee was tasty. The pool was huge and there were plenty of chairs/loungers. The view from my room was beautiful. Everything was clean. The bathtub in my room was quite possibly the cleanest one I've ever seen in a hotel. Now for the critical. I was a little irked when my first experience here was taking my bags out of my car and beginning to place them on a luggage cart, when I was rudely stopped by a employee at the valet stand who curtly informed me that I wasn't allowed to use them. I asked why they were outside, right where guests enter. His response was that hotel employees can use them to move bags for people staying there but that we can't because it's a "liability." I can certainly see how it might be a liability if a four year old or disabled elderly person was trying to maneuver a baggage-laden luggage cart, but a healthy 25 year old woman? I'm still unclear. Sounds to me like it's a ploy made up by the hotel staff to get more tips. My room was also small. I was staying by myself for work, and thank dog, because I can't imagine staying there with even one friend or my boyfriend. It was that miniscule. I got excited when I looked out my window and saw a balcony, hoping I'd at least have more space. I quickly realized that even though my room faced a balcony, it did not have a door out to it - only the room next door to me did. This is an awkward setup to say the least, and I felt like I had to constantly keep my blinds closed so the people next to me who were lucky enough to be able to actually use it wouldn't be able to see me in my PJs/right after I got out of the shower/chowing down on leftovers from Elways. In an ideal world, the Lodge at Vail would do a little remodeling project, divide the balconies, and give each room a door by which to access their part of it. Yes, I do realize I was really lucky to stay in such a beautiful part of Colorado in a nice hotel. It was a good experience overall but I did want to point out the things that took away from it so you can judge for yourself whether you want to stay here.

Yelp
I stayed in the hotel rooms so I can't answer for the condos. Im a former NYC hotel owner and I was very impressed with the staff both at the front desk and in the restaurants and spa, especially the gentleman at the spa (can't remember his name -- ugh!) who went out of his way to please everyone and was as scrupulous and passionate about his work as anyone I have ever seen. The cleaning staff were equally efficient and pleasant. Breakfast in the morning was uneven depending on what you ordered but I recommend the $36 buffet which offers a variety of quality breakfast food (omelettes made to order) from oatmeal to pastries, to smoothies, to juices, fruit, yogurt etc. The massage I had at the spa was one of the finest I have ever had and the interiors/common areas including the rooms were lovely but I would not go as far as to say they are particularly 'special/unique.' The ski valet at Vail Sports forgot to return our skis to the lodge on the final day so we were left without our skis when it came to leaving first thing the next morning. The front desk person apologized profusely on their behalf and suggested that they FED-EX them as an alternative. Since I didn't need them right away I was happy with this option, and remarkably I received them in perfect condition (they packed my remaining ski clothes to pad out the bag as requested) 2 days later... The outdoor pool and two hot tubs (weak jets, alas) was a lovely way to end the day, but I preferred the jacuzzi and steam room at the spa. The convenience for the gondola never got old: Fantastic location and I'm sure that plays into the rate, but in the end it was money well spent.

Yelp
I've stayed at The Lodge at Vail many, many times over the years. Love the location. You can't beat it. Unfortunately, the experience for us is hit or miss and, on balance, seems to be getting marginally worse each time we stay here. The primary reason is that this place is old and falling apart and the so-called manager seems to be missing in action. It is really hit or miss as to what will be or won't be working when you stay here. If you do decided to stay here, don't stay in rooms 246 or 244. They neglected to inform us that there would be drilling, jackhammers and other noise above these units due to construction going on. When I asked about the noise, they rudely informed me that they have permission to work from 10 to 2. It would've been nice to know before we rented here that part of each day our unit might be uninhabitable. Speaking of uninhabitable, the first day we were here our water quit working in our unit, allegedly because of what the construction folks did in the unit above us. It took 6 hours to fix it. I asked that the manager contact me to discuss this inconvenience etc... I never heard from him. The next day the carbon monoxide detector kept going off. I had to have a maintenance person up twice to fix that. It wasn't fixed on the 1st attempt and it took hours for him to return. We have dishwasher in our unit, but you can't open the door all they way as it hits the fridge in front of it. I've been working in the business center since I got here. There is a printer that you can supposedly print to, but it does not work. Neither does the scanner. The front desk person told me that this is typical. Supposedly they called an IT person, but 2 days later and it still doesn't work. Yesterday they ran out of coffee in the lobby fairly early and never replaced it. Today they had coffee, but it was cold. Dirty dishes have been sitting in the stairway since we got here (3 days now). Pretty gross and hard to understand why someone here hasn't noticed this or taken action. This is really a great old hotel/condo complex and wonderful location. The guys that work the bell stand are awesome. This place simply needs to replace management immediately with people who know what they are doing and care.

Yelp
We paid $1,600 a night and we were put in a room the heat doesn't turn off, the window won't shut, we are outside the pool and hear a door slam every two minutes, the room has no Wi-Fi. We called the front desk 3 times where we were told there's nothing they can do. I went to speak with the manager and he states there at guests paying $20,000 a night so you're not on the top of our list.

Ashley G.

Yelp
Our experience here might have been different because it was before the season started and during covid, but it just seemed that you pay for way more than you get! The room was clean and tidy, it just looks like it could use some updating. The sink was missing the nozzle in the end so the water just came pouring out even when turned on the slightest bit!! Also, the toilet hardly flushed. The room next to us was empty and at 7am an extremely loud alarm went off. I had to call down The front desk to have someone turn off the alarm. I was sure hoping to sleep in!! When we arrived, they also whisked our car away to be valet parked and charged us $35 for the night! We found out the next day that we could park in the public lot for free so we did that the next day. I felt a little duped that the front desk staff didn't offer that information to us! The icing on the cake was when we checked out there was another $150 of resort fees!!! We felt nickeled and dimed for everything there and will not be returning!!

Mahi M.

Yelp
The heater stopped working, the water was cold, the manager was very rude about it. The eventually brought a heater to the room but didn't offer us a refund for that night

Jennifer O.

Yelp
We visited here in February 19'. It is the perfect location and just steps away from the main ski lift Vista Bahn. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. They have hot apple cider, water and coffee always in lobby. One of my favorites was the fresh baked chocolate chip cookies that keep appearing in the lobby also!! The bathroom has heated floors which is a very nice feature especially when coming in from skiing! The rooms were a little small but it is a bit older of a hotel. Nice fire going out by the hot tubs as well. Special shoutout to Ella at the front desk going above and beyond and helping with getting our skis to the correct lift area. Also Trish in the restaurant for being extra nice and taking the time to show us the best runs to ski on for our beginner abilities!!! The staff is just very friendly and go above and beyond.

J M.

Yelp
This lodge has seen its better days. It is old and dated. The AC makes a noise that makes a NYC subway seem quiet. The shower is falling apart The management says their sorry but the have no other rooms available. The bellmen took over an hour and 15 to bring up the luggage. Bulbs in the room are out and have requested 3x to have them changed but nobody seems to care The lodge is split into two halves and the other side has been renovated . This side needs to be shut down and gutted . Extremely disappointed . Unfortunately greed has taken over and they continue to rent this room which should be closed Many better choices in the Vail Village and avoid this one

A F.

Yelp
Lobby and halls smell like (cancer causing) chemical odor sprays (and not even pleasant). They do not use eco-friendly or human friendly cleaners. Some of the staff is very very helpful and kind (Nicki - Concierge) and go above and beyond. Some have attitude. Cleaning staff is very friendly. Hotel is loud with drunks around xmas & New Years. Not hotels fault, but not peaceful. They did offer to move my room. Would be better if they patrolled hallways during holidays and put up signs saying "this is shared space. Please, respect quiet space of others" or something like that. Heater was not working very well and made loud banging noises at times. They tried to fix it, but I guess it's just old. The filter was totally filthy when they took it out and had to replace it because I saw it. They had to modify a filter because it did not fit.

Cherie C.

Yelp
Heated bathroom floors. Do you need to know anything else? Love this place. I've stayed here twice for a work retreat and really enjoy it. Service is excellent. The food is good (we ate all meals here over the weekend). The area is nice, so I could take a little walk in the mornings so I didn't stay indoors all weekend. There are a couple of nice coffee shops nearby where I could relax in the morning, read the news, and feel like I'd left the work meeting for a bit. But being "stuck" in this place for 3 days is hardly inconvenient. Rooms are cozy, with pretty comfortable beds and nice toiletries. Oh, and the aforementioned heated floor. I have really enjoyed my stays here.

Alison D.

Yelp
Ugh. Just ugh. This was certainly not a $1,200/night hotel but they have the market cornered and can do as they please. As I'm typing I'm trying to find a word to replace "dingy"...but yeah, the rooms are just so and nothing to write home about. I also had a couple encounters with the staff where they were less than accommodating on the most simple of tasks. Is it really that tasking for you to provide my hotel confirmation number? Thanks but not thanks.

Vanessa L.

Yelp
I loved my stay at The Lodge at Vail! Granted I was there for a work trip and many of the added fees others mention, I didn't have to pay for; but the trip and one night stay was not disappointing. I scored a corner room with a full kitchen, huge beautiful bathroom, and a balcony looking out on the slopes. Some of the hallways may be a bit outdated but our room was everything but. It was so beautiful and comfortable. Likewise, their gym was top notch - one of the best I have seen in a hotel, which says a lot coming from someone who travels often and utilizes many hotel gyms. I had a great meal one evening at Elways upstairs at a reasonable cost when I hit their happy hour! And they have a great pool/hot tub area that I took advantage of as well. They don't have a continental breakfast; however they do set out coffee and tea in the am. Along with oatmeal packs so I threw some oatmeal in a cup with some hot water and called it my make shift continental before hitting the road. My only complaint is that it is the strangest lay out of a hotel and I was constantly lost. :) Good thing they have maps upon check in because I needed it!

C T.

Yelp
My advice: stay somewhere else. This place is outdated and way overpriced for what you get. Pros: Location (near the ski lift) Cons: * Small outdated rooms, way overpriced * Few electric outlets * No USB outlets * Bathroom electric outlet didn't work (how do you use the hairdryer?) * Our electricity went on and off at various times. Yes, we were in the dark without electricity. * Neighbors appeared in the middle of the night, and immediately went loudly onto the patio 5 feet from our bed. They tried to open door between our rooms, banging our door in the middle of the night. * The neighboring rooms on all sides were noisy * Building is dated, must be 1990 or older I doubt this place will ever improve. I doubt the competence of senior management, starting with the CEO. I will happily decline any future trips to Vail if it means I don't have to stay here again.

Yelp
We stayed in a hotel room at the Lodge At Vail over the weekend and absolutely loved it. The Lodge is conveniently located with a door leading out to Vail Village, Elway's Restaurant is nestled into the 3rd floor and the amenities were fantastic. One of the nicest hotel rooms that I have ever stayed in and I would stay with them again at any time. The Yelp reviews of this place are a bit bi-polar....either past guests have loved it or absolutely hate it. From what I can tell, the major complaints are: lack of air conditioning in hotel rooms and low, cabin-like ceilings. Let me just say - after staying in a non-A/C room in the middle of summer I was able to open a window, turn on the ceiling fan as needed and feel more than comfortable with the clean crisp Colorado Rockies mountain air circulating. A/C is somewhat of a crime in Vail. The low ceilings only felt that way because of the natural wood beams across the hotel room - it's called the Lodge after all, if you're looking for vaulted ceilings this is not your place. But it did give us a comfortable, cozy natural feel. The staff at the Lodge At Vail from the bartender at Elway's to the concierge to the valet parking attendant who shuttled us over to a bar Saturday night when we weren't sure how to get there on foot were wonderful and completely took care of us. Being that the Lodge is one of the original Vail hotels I very much appreciated the renovation work they were doing in their original rooms to give guests updated technology amenities, like the iPod dock-enabled alarm clock and flat screen tvs. Outside amenities like the fitness center, spa and pool/sauna/jacuzzi area were also completely updated. I appreciated the romantic old-school arches and architecture combined with the upgraded conveniences. My only "issue" with the Lodge is really my issue with Vail itself - frankly the pricing is a bit ridiculous. We were lucky enough to be part of a group that helped offset those costs last weekend but I'm not sure we'll be heading back there again without some significant incentives or a major event to celebrate. Bottom line: if the economics of Vail doesn't bother you, the Lodge at Vail is a wonderful place to call "home" for your stay.

Yelp
We recently spent 4 nights at this Resort. It was our first trip to Vail and I was told that this lodge was the first in the area and over time have built around it. The facility is horseshoe in area and it made up of multiple wings so it is a bit of a maze getting around. After a day or two we could navigate to the pool and to the Vail Village without much trouble. Our room was a Luxury Lodge Room which means we had two queens and plenty of space. The entry way into the room was coolest as it had the one cooling vent. The main area was cool enough as we could open a window in the evening for fresh air. Bathroom was warmest but not bad. Bathroom was also very nice with shower and tub as well as two sinks. It also contained a small refrigerator. The place is next to the Vail Village which was very nice so you could always find something to eat or drink or buy. I would recommend for room food that you drive (about 5-8 minutes) to Safeway or Country Market. There is a McDonald's down by the Safeway as well. A couple comments that caught our eye. Stain on rug, no batteries in remote control, crank on window was broken and small refrigerator was always too cold no matter what setting. Froze my beer. The TV in the room was on north wall and beds faced west so you need to turn the set to watch. Also the channels in our room were pretty standard, my daughter was in a real suite and they had about three times the number stations we had. However we didn't go there to watch TV The room had a balcony, but it was pretty close to the next room and frankly difficult to access so we didn't use it. This is a "Resort" so you can expect to pay between $250 and $350 for the room, not counting taxes and valet. The self park is further than you want so get the valet. Prices in the area are what you think, $12 hamburgers, etc. The gondola was $32 per for ride up and back. If you want to do the adventure park at the top a full pass will run you $82 per person.

Yelp
The location is the best! We didn't have to use our car once! They also have a shuttle that takes you around if needed. We ate breakfast every morning at Cucina because the food and service were both so good!!! The servers were amazing, I wish I could remember their names! All of the staff, from the bell guys, front desk to the servers were outstanding and made our stay special. This was our second time, and I don't think I'll try anywhere else!!!! Thank you!!!

Jeff P.

Yelp
Have traveled the world and never experienced such a poorly managed hotel. Reservations booked a room and a rental car, but cancelled my prepaid car without notice. There's no 24hr phone number if you have a problem, and after two weeks, still can't get reimbursed for replacement car rented. Other than location, there is nothing good about this hotel. Dont take a chance with your vacation. No reason to ever stay at this hotel.

Dawn L.

Yelp
What a nightmare of a hotel......I booked the hotel online weeks in advance and paid in full. I showed up and the Manager informed me that they gave my room away because they were overbooked??? He then found another room for me in the basement dungeon with 2 beds and and a hose window A/C unit that would not let you close the blinds!!! I had paid for a room with a sitting area, couch and kitchenette. I asked to be moved from the dungeon and got put in a better room, still inferior to what I paid for. The toilet constantly ran and gurgled had to get fixed and then the awesome maintenance guy cleaned the filters in the A/C so it actually would work. What a very poorly run hotel. We came in town for a wedding and my other 3 friends had similar experiences. Stay Elsewhere

Yelp
In and out breakfast, outstanding location, smoothies, buffets... just a great place all around

Yelp
We decided to go to The Lodge to celebrate (without kids) our 15th anniversary this past weekend. I have to say, we thought the service and accommodations were great. We were a bit worried when we read a few reviews indicating some of the rooms were out of date, that certainly wasn't the case with our room. Our room had a beautiful bathroom, comfortable bed with two sitting chairs, flat panel television and a small balcony with a table and chairs. When we checked in, we were warmly greeted by Amber at the front desk, she asked about our trip and we told her we were celebrating our anniversary. She congratulated us and we checked into our room. We left for dinner and upon our return we were wonderfully surprised to see a bottle of wine, chocolate covered pretzels, strawberries and a card from Amber congratulating us on our 15 year anniversary. It truly made our weekend even more special...thank you Amber! The only slight problem we had was when the air conditioning stopped blowing out cold air. However, one quick call to the front desk and a very nice gentleman came up and fixed the air conditioning while we were out at dinner. On top of that, he left us a nice note apologizing for the inconvenience and two chocolates in the form of little hammers. Thank you Amber and of The Lodge for making our 15th anniversary so special, we will definitely be back.

Yelp
I am very disappointed in the Lodge at Vail. I have had two poor experiences there. One as a local, invited to the hotel on a Sunday afternoon to use their pool in the late summer. I thought this was such a great program, a fantastic way to give back to our community and also to spread the word about the Hotel. When I got there, I parked my car myself in their parking lot and an attendant came over to me and asked me for my keys in case they needed to move the car. He never mentioned that there is a $20 fee to park there for a few hours. Had I known that, I would have parked in Vail's free parking structure (it is free in the summer). We spent a few hundred dollars at the pool bar on food and drinks and about four hours at the pool. It was a great day until I gave the attendant my valet card and they charged me $20. I paid them cash and sent an email via their website to let them know how I upset I was regarding this exchange. No response. Very disappointing. Prior to that experience, I stayed for one night at the hotel for a friend's wedding. I was quoted a local's discounted rate (In fact the woman who I booked with was very accommodating and went above and beyond to see if I could get this rate), however, in the end it was a mute point since I didn't get the rate at all. The room was nice, clean, comfortable, a little small, but fantastic location. I would recommend this hotel if you are not on a tight budget like me, but as a local, don't bother. They clearly don't really care about the little people.

Yelp
While my husband and I enjoyed our stay at The Lodge at Vail because of the perks of an upscale ski resort, it ended on a terrible note. On Sunday, February 25th, we left all of our luggage at the front desk from 9:30 am to 6:00 pm while we were skiing. I had placed my jewelry bag inside my makeup bag, inside my backpack, and unfortunately, IT WAS STOLEN FROM MY BAG WHILE IT WAS BEING KEPT IN STORAGE. My wedding band and engagement ring were in there along with a couple of other valuable pieces. We have done thorough searches of our bags, and I am 100% confident that it was stolen during this time frame while in the possession of The Lodge. The security manager did take steps to do an investigation including reviewing camera footage, but there is no camera facing where the bags are held. Employees were interviewed during the week, but nothing was found. The investigation ended with The Lodge telling me that there was nothing they could do further outside of me filing a police report, which I did. As you can imagine, disappointed is an understatement. I am posting to warn future guests that because the person who took my jewelry has not been identified, I have to assume this employee is still working at The Lodge at Vail and has access to stored luggage and possibly rooms for cleaning. PLEASE BE AWARE. We will not be staying here again because the experience was entirely overshadowed by this. At such a highly rated hotel, I would expect that all of my belongings would be safe and secure and that this should not have been an issue. Jaclyn

Yelp
This place was incredibly overpriced and outdated. I am all about paying top dollar for an excellent hotel experience, so it isn't about the price, but about the value. When I am paying this rate for a ratty old bed, tiny rooms, not well cleaned rooms and faded, tearing sheets and pillows, I take serious issue. The people who worked here were nice enough and it was nice that they kept hot chocolate and cookies out after the mountain closed, on the main floor, but it was really hard to get over paying what we paid for a room that seriously didn't match the pictures.

Yelp
I was so unhappy with our stay at The Lodge At Vail. My husband and I decided to get away for a night for our 2nd wedding anniversary, so we booked a one night stay through Priceline, and headed up from Denver. When we arrived, the hotel was a little sad. They definitely need to update this place to live up to the 4 star resort status, but I thought "no big deal, the rooms must look great!". Yikes, we were wrong! Upon arriving to our room, we discovered that not only was it so tiny and outdated, but it was also an adjoining room, and I could just barely see through the door crack into the next room (which had guests) and we could easily hear their conversation. Wow! We headed downstairs..asked for anything else with a king sized bed. We were given "the only other room available". The first room off the lobby on the first floor. It looked right into the parking lot. I told my husband I felt like I was staying at a Motel 6 (except for the price...). This is when we discovered the weirdest thing of all. These rooms have no air conditioning. And it was at least 85-90 degrees in the room. My husband felt bad. We usually don't make any fuss, let alone three requests like this, but we felt it was necessary. He went and asked why there was no air conditioning. The hotel said it was because they were an "older hotel" and only the deluxe suites have air conditioning. If we wanted air conditioning, it was going to be an additional $50. Weird. OK...so we opted to take a two queen room between two service rooms on the third floor so that we might get a breeze from the window, or at least a ceiling fan. That was fun! In the morning, we were woken up by housekeeping using both service rooms from 6-8 a.m. to get glasses, heavy machinery, who knows what, and slamming doors. It was a great way to start the day! :) I can't believe a 4-star resort doesn't have air conditioning in all of their rooms. Especially when it was that hot outside. Do you get heat in the winter? It could be optional if you stay here! Anyways, we had decided to opt for the free parking, instead of the hotel's $20/night parking (on top of the $20/night resort fee -- you might not be told about this upon check-in unless you ask, just an f.y.i!). The concierge gave us directions where to park in the parking garage, but I really wish she would have warned us that there are TWO parking garages next to each other. One is free and one will cost you $40/overnight to park. Guess which one we ended up parking in? It's a small oversight if you're not familiar with the area, and the front desk seemed to know that it happened more that enough that they could simply say 'watch out for the first parking garage you'll come to!' Just a tip for everyone visiting!!

Yelp
Ok. Beware if you purchase this through Priceline. We did a 4-star search and were initially pleased with the hotel. The hotel Is a lttle older and outdated, but there's a nice pool and Elways restaurant attached to the hotel. Keep in mind if you do purchase through Priceline, know that the hotel will stiff you an extra $20 a night for "amenities" because that's apparently not included in the price of the hotel. What? They also slapped on a mandatory donation for the Colorado wildfire. I'm all for donating to the wildfire cause, but don't make it mandatory on my bill and then call it a donation.

Yelp
I noticed an earlier review that nicely summed up our experience in saying that The Lodge at Vail is getting "marginally worse" each time we stay there. I'll save the long explanation other than to say the lack of communication between departments resulted in The Lodge collecting payment for the deluxe condo we confirmed in writing only to switch us to a sub-standard room without the amenities (or the view) we paid for. They owned up to the bait and switch tactic and after 3 wasted days of our vacation they agreed to provide a credit. Extremely frustrating that they ever bothered to tell us in advance so we had no options to change accommodations before we arrived. Offering to do better and encouraging us to try them again, we attempted to book another stay and were quoted a rate but received an invoice for a rate that was 38% more than we were offered. They again acknowledged their error but my family decided that we just didn't want anymore post arrival surprises that would take days to sort out so we cancelled and have removed The Lodge at Vail from our places to stay when we are in the village. They don't pay attention and guests suffer for it.

Yelp
Excellent, friendly, informative and surprisingly unpretentious service all the way from the valets, and front desk to the room staff. Free fresh filtered water bottles everyday. (Although the tap water is super cold and awesome tasting anyway) Small fridge in the room to keep your things cold in. Heated towel rack in the bathroom. Great beds and bedding, maybe too nice I didn't want to get out of bed in the morning. The ULTRA FLUFFY and soft robes provided at this resort are unquestionably the most comfortable thing I've ever worn. SUPER Warm even after getting them wet from one of the best outdoor spa's I've ever been in. With a HUGE waterfall and grotto. A stones throw from Vista Bahn! I should also tell you about the chamomile turn down service with Italian chocolates as well as the awesome gym and spa that's here. Don't worry if you work out too hard they have a steam room, sauna and indoor spas as well that are top notch. Location is perfect, a very short walk to the Vista Bahn lift.

Yelp
We were hoping for the Marriott, but I must say I think we ended up with a better hotel after we crossed our fingers and bid on Priceline. We submitted a $100 bid (and it was $120 ish with taxes and surcharges). I agree with the others that there are a number of 'surprise' charges in store for you once you arrive. First, there is the $25 valet fee and the $20 resort fee (for nothing really). Those are some hefty fees. The rooms and restrooms are a bit tight, but very clean and comfy. They offer in-room humidifers, robes, slippers you can take home, among other things. Oh, yeh, and they filter their own water and replenish in the room often if you request for turndown service, in nice glass bottles. Since we had used priceline, I was surprised when our room was to be a studio with a murphy bed! Not good for two friends traveling together, but they quickly accommodated us with a standard room with 2 queens. Uggh, that would have been terrible. The location is fantastic. It's as close as you can get in Vail Village to the 'ski out the back'. Still a good value. Oh, and they have free wifi.

Yelp
So far it has not been a great experience. I totally understand that early check in is not guaranteed. But we checked in at 10:30, and at 2:30 we're still waiting. Intensely frustrating and next time we'll be going back to the four seasons where we had a delightful experience.

Yelp
I'm with most of the other reviewers that this place is really great. Friendly service, great room service food, clean, nice facilities (pools, hot tubs, exercise). Can't beat the location right in the heart of Vail. Didn't get to Elways Restaurant but hope to be back again in the future. The only downside that I could see is, in part, what makes it a great place to stay. It's the original Vail Lodge so it is a little old. I like older, charming places so I don't count them out on that. But, there are some definite maintenance issues you run into with older hotels and, as another reviewer mentioned, some of the rooms have low ceilings. I'm betting the 3,000 plus sq ft super-sized suite has higher ceilings than our little room did :-) Also, limited outlets in the rooms for those of you that travel with a charger for everything electronic. None of these things negate the positives too much though. An overall great experience and would def go back again. LOVE VAIL!

Yelp
Just spent two nights on a company-paid event. At check-in they wanted a credit card to cover "incidentals". Now I find out that since Friday I have had a hold on my personal card for almost $700 for the lodging in my "company-paid" room! I called the hotel for a resolution and they said they can't do anything to remove the hold and that I shouldn't worry because the hold will be removed in "four or five days". No sense of wanting to please the guest and no concern that I am short about $700 on my credit card for the last three days and for at least the next four days. STAY AWAY!

Yelp
Lesson learned - this property has a highly unreasonable cancellation policy and as a result we will never consider staying here again if we are in Vail. We had to cancel the reservation 3 weeks prior to arrival due to an unexpected change in our travel plans. This property charged our credit card for the entire stay 30 days prior to our arrival. Their policy is "Cancellation within 30 days of your arrival will result in a full forfeiture of the entire reservation value plus tax." Who does that!? They said it is because of the time of year during the holidays. Last I checked, Jan 8 (the night of the reservation) isn't a holiday. If this property is worth staying at, shouldn't they be able to book the room again in the winter 3 weeks out? Luckily, we were only staying one night but if we were staying longer, they would have charged us the full amount of the full stay! That's ridiculous!! This cancellation policy has alienated us from ever considering staying here again. If you don't want to get ripped off if your plans change, try a different hotel.

Yelp
I stayed at the Lodge this past weekend and definitely enjoyed my visit. I was a little skeptical when I was told our room was on the porch level (as in basically off the parking lot, motel style), but after opening the door and taking a quick peek around the room, it was a stylish and comfortable spot the spend the weekend. We even ended up enjoying our location as it allowed us more privacy since we weren't constantly walking through the hotel lobby. The location of the hotel is perfect and the different exits drop you out in different locations in Vail Village. While we happened to be visiting in the summer, the hotel is just steps away from the Vista Bahn, Vail's main lift, and would be the ideal spot for winter travel. The staff was super helpful and professional throughout our entire stay. One final piece of advice for those staying at the Lodge- use the pool/hot tubs closest to the spa. They are new and are far nicer than the pool/hot tubs closer to the garden.

Yelp
Came here for a wedding that was held in Vail. It was during the off-season (October) and they were doing construction on the whole place. Our room was fine, nice size, awesome bathroom. However, there was no easy way to get from one place to another in the hotel, we had to use back stairs and such. Also, the business center was closed so when we needed to print our boarding passes, we had to as the guy at the front desk to do it - I had to pay for a bag, so I had to give him the credit card for him to type in.. strange. The price for the room was fair, lower I think due to the off-season and the wedding party discount, however, the construction was too much. When its all finished, this place will probably be 4 or 5 stars, depending on the price.

Yelp
I loved this hotel but I'll try to keep this concise so you get the information that you need. STAFF - amazingly friendly, from the valet guys to the check-in ladies everyone was really pleasant, chatty, and helpful offering suggestions for places to check out and letting us park out front because we were driving cross-country and our luggage was not organized in ANY way and we were just staying the night. PETS - they do accept pets (although I don't know if there's any size restrictions) at a $50 surcharge but obviously you love your pet enough to bring them along on your adventure (roadtrip, vacation, whatever) so obviously that shouldn't be an issue. AND they have pet treats on their menu, I mean... that's CUTE. LOCATION - awesome. There's a door that leads directly into Vail Village. which also makes the walk from the free parking lot also very short should you choose to skip the $20 valet fee. AMBIENCE - beautiful, rustic, cozy... you name it. It's just what you picture when you think mountain lodge. Very nice furniture in an array of warm colors and 2 pools, a spa, 4 jacuzzi's... everything you'd want. ROOMS - LOVELY. Ours was a first floor room and no special view but I mean... go outside and turn any direction and you won't be missing anything. We had a room with 2 doubles so it was definitely cozy but it was just what we wanted. Intimate and warm. AMENITIES - what you'd expect from a 4-Diamond hotel. Filtered water (very green), postcards with free domestic mailing offered, wifi, really awesome soaps (one with an exfoliating texture which my boyfriend and I both LOVED), hair-dryer so you don't catch cold with wet hair, a sewing kit, safe, I mean what more do you need? * Meals are not included and we didn't end up eating there but the various menus looked delicious and they locally source.

Yelp
Very centrally located. Comfortable rooms with balconies, nice down comforters and pillows, complementary robes, nice bathroom products and a flat screen tv. The staff is very friendly and they even have a SUV that can drive you to places that are slighly out of walking distance. The pool and hot tubs are very nice as is the spa area. The fitness center is one of the best I have seen in a hotel. They have a nice bar as well. The one negative is that I found you could hear a lot of the hallway noise from the room, which is not so great when you are trying to sleep. The guests while I was here were pretty quiet, so it wasn't so bad, but I could see how it might get noise.

Yelp
Very disappointed in our experience this time. We stay at the hotel at least 5-6 times a season and also stay in off season- I called 3 days in advance and spoke with front desk about the fact that we were bringing our dog and would like suggestions / assistance figuring out what to do with him before check in time so we could ski - I was reassured we would be able to get in early however upon arrival we weren't able to check in and there was no assistance provided to help us figure out what to do with the dog - we lost a whole day skiing because of this situation - I understand the room not being ready but the lack of service and help was shocking for this seemingly high end hotel - there are many great places to stay in Vail which provide excellent customer service - unfortunately this place is not one of them

Yelp
Excellent service made a vacation here pure bliss. Everyone from the front desk to out front at the valet was attentive, helpful, and a lot of fun. You can tell they genuinely love being there. Rooms are well-appointed. Fresh water refilled every day, cleaning is done promptly and discreetly (we went out for dinner, and had our rooms cleaned a second time in the evening while we were away). Stay at the Lodge, and you won't need a rental car. Vail Village, and the vistabahn lift chair is right at its doorstep. The lift is at most a 4 minute walk away (in clunky ski boots). Walk out in cosy walking shoes and you'll get there in 2. Great selection of shops to get equipment from in the Village, and a lot of dining options too. Massage at the spa was pricey (as expected at Vail), but one of the best I'd ever had. And i'm a big fan of massages so I know what's good. The bigger rooms (or apartments) come with full kitchens, oven, stoves and microwaves included. Excellent furnishing. Beds are very comfy too! Can't stop raving about this place, cos it made for one of the best vacations I've ever had. Love it! Oh and free Wifi!
