Phoenix’s Best Sports Bars - Eater Phoenix

"The Lodge is a one-of-a-kind gem in the heart of Tempe that offers the cozy feeling of being at your favorite hunting lodge while still being modern and hip with unforgettable food. Start with the cheese curds, bacon-wrapped jalapenos, or fried pickles before diving into one of the inventive burgers. And if you want to bring a group to celebrate a team win with you, you can opt for the party pitcher of margaritas that’s boozy enough for four." - Jamie Killin

Loved this place!!! Came here for lunch with my husband and the name speaks for itself when you enter. Beautiful wooden decor and cabin feel, great music, indoor and outdoor games, Flat-screen TVs showing football, Beautiful bar! Service was so quick and super friendly!!!! Ordered the pretzel appetizer which is two huge, soft pretzels with cheese and mustard dipping sauces (so good!) The iced tea is outstanding! I ordered the Buffalo wings, also outstanding, and husband ordered the Nashville hot chicken sandwich with a house salad and loved it!!! Our bill was $50 before tip, very reasonable for two lunch entrees, a beverage, and appetizer! Highly recommend!!!

Google
The food was really good. These were the best nachos I've had since I moved to Arizona 2 years ago. The triple D burger and side salad was a big hit for my son as well. Our waitress was very nice and did a great job. The atmosphere of the place was good, but it was a little darker than what I personally like. It made it a little hard for me to see the menu, but overall, it was really nice.

We had an amazing retirement party on the back patio! It was shaded, has a huge bar and Ross assisted us in putting together a hearty appetizer menu that everyone loved! Perfect place!

Google
Nice little place with really good food! Mountain nachos were decent w fresh jalapenos (not pickled) and a decent nacho cheese.. the club salad was well balanced (nothing over powered anything else) the Nashville hot chicken sandwich had a great sauce on it and it was spicy as expected.. the crispy chicken Cesar wrap and waffle fries were fresh and delicious too! We will be back!!

We went here while in town for the day. Originally from the Midwest, we were excited when saw cheese curds on the menu, which were really good! Our kids shared a Mac n cheese appetizer, which was interesting for sure, good but not great. I got the special, Lucy Juicy, and it was delicious! Highly recommend. I got the side of tots, which were cooked to perfection, but not much seasoning on them. My husband got just a regular burger and it was okay. However the sweet potato fries with the marshmallow cinnamon dipping sauce was to die for. The prices were pretty high with all of that costing about $58. They charge you a 4% fee for credit card so make sure you bring cash. Our service was decent, the waitress was pretty awkward, especially when we asked for our change and she said “oh, well it’s only $2”. We needed that in order to put together our full tip. The bathroom is clean, with limited parking outside. Overall I would recommend.

Google
We really enjoyed this place. Came with my son while visiting from Minnesota. Service was great, thank you Jaime, best wishes in grad school. Just a cool setup, inside or outside. Fully stocked bar and delicious craft beers on tap. Food was very good. Korean BBQ and carolina mustard wings stole the show, but the burger was very good too, tripleD. Thank you Jared for recognizing our military. Worth every penny in my opinion.

I had no idea Jared Allen of the KC Chiefs/Vikings was part of a sports bar until choosing this place to meet up with family for a dinner! It’s definitely got a lodge vibe with lots of wood. It’s out of the ordinary ~ in the middle of the Arizona desert ~ but it’s fun, for a change. We sat on the patio and our server was Dawnielle. She was very friendly and efficient! I had the Lodge Burger with tots, my husband had a Cobb salad, my brother-in-law had the Sun Devil Burger with a small salad and my sister-in-law had the Beef Dip with sweet potato fries. I had read reviews about the buns being dry so I ordered my burger medium with the bun toasted. The bun was perfect! The burger was good but not prepped to medium. It was definitely well done. In addition, I am a self proclaimed salt lover but as I chewed on my first bite I realized how salty the burger patty was. Overall, I liked my meal, though. My sister-in-law’s sweet potato fries came with a side of a marshmallow/cinnamon dip which was a fun surprise to sample! On a low note, she was less than excited about her Beef Dip. She said it was dry and not flavorful. Lots of TVs, near Tempe Town Lake and the ASU campus…I can see why it’s a popular place but don’t have too high of expectations. Added note: two relatively small parking lots and some street parking. The bathroom was relatively clean.

Google
I went with the Triple D based on appeal and hyped by the staff. It's a good burger it just didn't live up to the hype nor the cost at $18. Did the Apple Coleslaw as it was also recommended as Fire. It was good but not great. 4 stars because the staff, vibe and atmosphere make it a fun place. It's a great place to watch a game or pregame before ASU football for sure.

Yelp
This place is nice, really nice. Who'd a thunk there'd be a lodge in the middle of Phoenix. A faux lodge at least. Looks like one, feels like one and tastes like one! With its rustic fireplace, timber ceilings, a couple of country-style bars, Antlers, Antlers everywhere - not to mention the namesake Sasquatches abounding, and huge TVs aplenty - for the sports-oriented, Sasquatch has a lot to offer not just in atmosphere, but in great service and hospitality, not to mention some pretty darn good eats. We were pleasantly surprised during our first visit, which I must say will not be our last! Plus, as it may not be humongous, it is diverse and eclectic as can be. They offer both off the wall and standard eats as Fried Pickle Chips Chicken Wings, fried pickle chips to bacon wrapped jalapenos, sliders, mac and cheese, to tater tots and waffle fries and wraps. Not only that, but they have a great offering of brews and an extensive reserve of whiskeys! Our sampling included their Green Chile Pork Stew composed of a delicious and tender slow roasted pork, with New Mexico green chilies, pepperjack cheese, tasty and fresh serrano peppers served with flour tortillas - this is a must have, I highly recommend it! When in this neck of the woods, Sasquatch will be our go-to, it's well worth the visit in oh so many ways.

Yelp
We popped in here last night around 5:30 pm on our way to the airport. We thought we would grab a few appetizers to tide us over until we had our late dinner. The Lodge has a small parking lot, which I am sure gets busy later in the evening. The inside is as you would imagine, quite "woody", but not too dark at all. They also have a large outdoor seating area where most people seemed to be gravitating towards. We sat in the bar area at a booth and watched football on one of their many TVs. Samuel greeted us and served us in a friendly and timely manner. They have a good looking menu that made me wish we were staying for dinner! Next time I will order the Nashville Chicken Sandwich or maybe one of their amazing burgers. This time we ordered the Fried Chicken Wings with buffalo sauce and Southern Fried Chicken Tenders which were the perfect crunchy and tasty and served with a side of honey mustard sauce. I would get these again. We were in and out in about an hour and a half, but I could have stayed a lot longer.

Yelp
This place was great. Not only was it not crowded for 5pm on a Saturday in this location but the service was quick and friendly. The lodge fries were really good. Basically a take on carne asada fries but with ground beef instead of carne asada. Still delicious. The old fashioned with Eagle Rare was perfect and even made correctly! The bar itself was cool. The signage around was funny and entertaining. The games on tv were perfect if you are into college football! It is almost guaranteed I'll be back to this place!

Yelp
Very cool place. That rustic decor with a hip vibe. The staff was good and the food, although typical bar food, was really good. I mean, ANY PLACE that serves waffle fries goes to the head of the class in my book. But we had a large group and they were very much able to accommodate plus they had an outside area with corn hole and other activities. Parking is a challenge as the parking lots are small and the place is at the beginning of a dead end street. But it worked out and all was good. Give it a try if you want a bit of a secluded spot with some cool people hanging out AND working.
google avatar

Yelp
The theming and decor is great at this place. It was a very lodge-y feel, with wood everywhere, antler chandeliers, and life-sized (I assume--who really knows??) carved Sasquatches. Very cool. The food was fine. Not fantastic, and not bad. Our server was nice enough. I don't like the fact that there charge you 4% to use a credit or debit card. I'm this day and age, few people pay with cash, and charging for using a credit card is annoying. I know 4% doesn't amount to much. I think it's just the idea that bugs me.

Yelp
We only came here because parking at Culinary Dropout was insane. If you're looking for typical college town bar food, this is the spot. The service was lacking, our drinks were empty for half our meal.
google avatar

Deedee W.

Yelp
We have made this a bit of a regular stop on our Friday Happy Hours. They have a great patio, so when it is nice out it is a perfect place to sit and chat. The menu is a typical bar menu with nothing that jumps out but fine bar food. It is right there on Farmer so a great place to start if you want to bar hop the bars that are right there. Service is always nice and they have this crazy selection of Whiskey's! Stop into the Lodge and enjoy a drink and snacks!

Yelp
Bartender (ex football player) was great. Talked football for the broncos game. Bunch of apps Good time

Yelp
We drove 35 miles to try this place and we will make the trip again soon! We loved the rustic decor, the indoor and outdoor bars are both really cool. The staff was very friendly and attentive. And the food....OMG I will be craving the Nacho Mountain w/ green chili pork forever! The Smashed Squatch Burger was excellent also w/ great waffle fries. We were stuffed after the nachos, but had to try a burger and highly recommend both! Bloody Marys were tasty and the prices reasonable. Like I said, we will definitely be back!

Yelp
We had the cheese curds for an app and I'd say a 5 out of 5. I had the spicy chicken Sammie and waffle fries and would highly recommend. Flavor was a perfect amount of spice for my taste buds. Decent pours of wine too. Service was pretty good. Super cool outdoor space!

Yelp
A group of coworkers and I stopped in here for a quick lunch recently. Service was fast and friendly. I ordered the app chicken tenders with a side of tots. The portion size was generous on both, and the food was served piping hot. The chicken tenders were breaded well, and the tots had a great crunch to them.
google avatar

Yelp
My favorite spot to watch Vikings games. Staff is great, they've got a huge patio and the food is bomb. Oh, and they serve tots. Beer, tots and football. yes please.
google avatar

Natalia R.

Yelp
I ordered the chicken pot pie. The crust was limited to the top and was rough instead of flaky. The filling was lacking in flavor.

Yelp
We had a delicious meal!! Everything was great! Timed well and just what we wanted! The fried pickles were the best I've ever had!! The prickly pear margarita was yummy, too!! We also had the best server, Andres! He kept our drinks filled and was very attentive to detail!! Thanks for a great experience, Andres!!

Yelp
Listennnn...when the mosquitos are so bad that your citronella candles don't do anything to keep them at bay and I have to constantly swat at my legs to keep from getting eaten alive. Plus your own employees show me the massive bug bites they've received. It's time to shut down and hire a proper exterminator to come in and spray the place down asap. I'm fairly certain if a health inspector came in and saw this they would in fact force you to shut down. I'm pretty lenient as a longtime service industry employee but management needs to make better decisions. Food and drinks are always solid though!
google avatar

Yelp
Decent bar food. Decent service. Awesome ambiance. Love coming here during summer because I feel like I'm in a cabin in the mountains lol.
google avatar

Jamie R.

Yelp
Came here before an ASU game and they were slammed! Originally our wait was going to be well over an hour. As we were about to leave, they took us right then and there and sat us which was awesome! I love the ambience and environment, total cabin, wood feels. Some indoor seating but a lot of outdoor seating. Fun for watching Vikings games too! Food was great bar food. Nachos were great and came with a lot, burger was so good and the fries and tater tots were nice and crispy. The wings were great too! I feel this is a little hidden gem almost, away from the downtown strip. I'll be back, especially to support a fellow Minnesota Viking Player! SKOL!

Yelp
The triple D burger and sweet potato fries with marshmallow sauce were to die for. I even ordered a second serving for dessert, Yummy!!!

Anthony P.

Yelp
Place has great bar food and ambiance. The food is really good and well priced! The staff is attentive, helpful and fun to talk to. I really appreciate Justin making sure I had everything I need and that my experience was on point. Def recommend this to anyone wanting to hang out at a chill a chill place and get some good grub

Yelp
My wife and I have visited this spot for years! Love the location and staff! We visited this Saturday 04/22 and had some good beer and food on the patio but the fried pickles where WAY over priced $11 and burnt! We will come back since we had many great experiences prior.
google avatar

Skyler P.

Yelp
You have to try the sweet potato fries with the marshmallow sauce! Just happened to stumble onto this place when I was down in Tempe. A fun and busy spot with some good food. Sat up at the bar and had some great service. Grabbed a few drinks (which I forgot to take pictures of) and some bar food. I'm always a sucker for fried pickles and chicken tenders but the best thing by far are the sweet potato fries. The marshmallow sauce is a big winner and it was so good we ordered another round of fries with the tenders. If you're looking for a fun spot to grab a drink and a bite, I'd definitely recommend this place!

Yelp
Exactly as you would expect a sports bar and grill to be. I traveled down for the Vikings game (beating the Packers) and as there for quite a few hours. The staff is super friendly and helpful. The whiskey and bourbon menu is expansive and quality. I had a couple of long drink cans and a gin and tonic, all good. Ate the breakfast burger which is pictured. It was huge. The waffle fries were amazing. We ordered wings and cheese curds and both of those were superb. The wings were very meaty and with a jerk rub were great. Plenty of TV's indoor and outdoor. High top seating at the bar and outside as well as tables but all of them had good views of TV's. This is owned by former Viking Jared Allen, so Vikings games are always the preferred game for audio inside. Do yourself a favor and enjoy yourself here. A+++

Yelp
Food is solid, nice indoor outdoor spaces. Is a great neighborhood restaurant to watch a game or just hang out.

Yelp
Incredible service! Great food and drinks! Supports veterans! My boyfriend brought in a military patch from the Air Force and received a free beer.

Louise B.

Yelp
Came here after researching a Vikings bar and were thrilled to find out it was also military friendly. They then said they don't provide a military discount, take off your site then. The service was terrible and rude. Food was subpar at best.

L R.

Yelp
WARNING: 1. No cash coins accepted. They will round to nearest dollar so if you are owed change in coins, you do not get it. That is illegal by the way. If they want to not use coins, they should round UP your change to nearest dollar. Reporting this to County Attorney. 2. ACH card transactions are 3%. This is standard NACHA charge. They add another 1% for...profit. Food is hit/miss. DJBingo is fun The utter lack of integrity here is why I will never return and btw, I work at a major business nearby so my colleagues won't be returning either.

Yelp
I love this place when I am visiting the Tempe area. The staff is always friendly and the food (especially the happy hour taco options) are absolutely amazing and very affordable. The Sasquatch ambiance is so fun. I always take picture with the fun Bigfoot carvings they have there. Very cool!
google avatar

Yelp
Food was very good service was not too good. I ordered the Lodge burger. The place wasn't too busy but waited about 25-30 minutes to get our food. I don't know if someone called in sick or what. But we hardly saw the waitress and we even waited a bit to get the check. The Burger was great though. The patty was thick and cooked perfectly and the bun was better than most places. Everyone in my party loved the food but the service was awful. The food gets a five and service gets a one.
google avatar

Sarah J.

Yelp
Nice patio with misters and lots of tvs with the games on. Service was good and the mule was fine, nothing super special. The burger was quite good and the tots were perfect. 100% recommend the tots and this would be a good spot to watch the game with a group.
google avatar

Tamara J.

Yelp
We were there for a conference and went to another restaurant first, but there was a long wait time, so we went to the Lodge. Great experience. No wait time to be seated. Indoor and outdoor seating options. Loved all the dishes we tried. Super large portion sizes. Good prices.
google avatar

Taylor W.

Yelp
We love this place! The vibe and the staff are amazing! Chris is awesome and really took great care of us! Beers are cold and cocktails are fabulous! Come here for a good time all the time!
google avatar

Lori G.

Yelp
Service by our waitress, Alyson, was EXCELLENT! Food was delicious, we had the chicken fingers and waffle fries, delicious hand breaded chicken with a pepper kick to it and flavorful sauces for dipping. Especially enjoyed the iced tea. We will definitely return.
google avatar

Joan A.

Yelp
Great service cool atmosphere and great food. Stopped in with my boyfriend after picking him up at the airport. Everyone working that morning was upbeat happy and quick to help out! Food was awesome!! Definitely will be back!

Christy K.

Yelp
The food was delicious. Excellent quality. We had the fried pickles. Green chili pork stew, Nashville hot chicken sandwich with waffle fries. So GOOD! All of it. The music is great, the service top notch. The strawberry jálelelo signature margarita was great. And the restaurant was clean and AC was perfect. We will be back A LOT.
google avatar

TU G.

Yelp
Great place. Love the wood lodge design with big logs, plus all the military patches and cool memorabilia. The food is always great. Their tots are the best. Service is friendly too and goes out of their way to provide an experience. Large patio with lots of TVs for those coming for the sports.
google avatar

Yelp
Great place in upper Tempe. Good beer selection, friendly service and a wide menu. This was my first visit, got the Cubano sandwich , would get again but will try something else next time because there's so many great looking selections to try next. Great atmosphere and a good size parking lot.

Yelp
NOT good for groups/Families. Really bummed to be writing this but just left the Lodge, in which I've frequented quite often as I work nearby. We were at Tempe Beach Park with a group and called ahead to The Lodge to double confirm they were ok with kids on a Saturday night and asked about their wait in which they said there was none. We hightailed it over with our group which was 6 adults, 3 toddlers and 3 babies. Upon arrival, the hostess Madison made quite the snarky comment regarding our party size as they had a sign on the door saying they couldn't accommodate over 10 inquiring about my ability to read the sign. (Mind you we'd order 9 meals likely and a baby may eat a French fry or two) Zeke came over to the hostess stand to tell "the party of 12" they couldn't accommodate us period even though we were OK waiting for a table as it seemed they got on a wait between our call and our arrival maybe 10 minutes after we called to ask. I used the restroom and went to leave and the manager Katelyn came over to talk to confirm again they couldn't accommodate. Ultimately I'm really bummed because I did like this place a lot but feel we got turned away because we had kids with us. If you are a large group or have children I'd steer clear! :(

Leslie T.

Yelp
Was surprised to see this place so empty at 7pm, in a college town, on a Saturday evening. Culinary dropout was packed right across the street. The behavior of the wait service was that they couldn't be bothered, everything we asked annoyed the waitress. We tried to be as accommodating as possible, yet she continued with the poor attitude. We got a bunch of appetizers, all of which were lukewarm. The "mountain" of nachos was more like a sad hill that advertised as having guac but came with none. The bacon jalapeño were barely warm and it was more just a raw jalapeño with chewy bacon. The queso had no flavor. I was overall disappointed but guess I figured out why it wasn't at all busy!
google avatar

Bill M.

Yelp
This is one of my new "go to " places. We had been rotating through 3 places..... but have now added this to our list! It's in a quiet corner of Tempe, easy parking. Great selection of food, especially recommend the pretzel bun burger. Be sure to get the "best in town" sweet potato fries with the sweet dipping sauce! The only recommendation I would ask from the lodge is to make their draft beers discounted at happy hour..... just a thought .
google avatar

Mercede R.

Yelp
This is the place if you want good food but don't want the craziness of downtown Tempe. Pet friendly. out door sitting. Nice bar area. Shrimp Taco is 3 tasty tacos with plenty of shrimp. Kayle salad was very fresh, chicken wings were meaty and hot dog and tater tots to die for. Lots of parking.
google avatar

Heather M.

Yelp
Wow! The best Jalapeño margaritas! We had amazing chicken tenders and sweet potato fries. The managing partner, Ross and bartenders Steph and Keilani were so friendly and really great at making drinks. Our new favorite place in Tempe.
google avatar

Steve U.

Yelp
Very casual and cool atmosphere. Employees are very friendly and the food is excellent. Service for our food coming out was a little slow but not enough to complain.
google avatar

Ogre H.

Yelp
Nice outdoor atmosphere. Dog Friendly. Some great food. The Border Chicken sandwich is a polished option I could eat everyday. Spot-on flavors and great execution. Who thought up the PB&J Burger? I probably wasn't drunk enough but could have eaten this thing for breakfast. Sweet potato fries with cinnamon sauce? You're outta control now. The mixologist has clearly tried too hard though. The Sonoran Mule tastes like a cow pie, but the blonde ale was nice on a warm summer evening. It was a bit of teeth pulling to get a high chair from the waitress. What do they gotta do, sterilize those things after use? But we got it, and the dog got water. Overall, a nice meal at an accommodating venue with some worthwhile gimmicks.
google avatar

Doug C.

Yelp
Went here for a graduation party. Food was awesome and the ambience is welcoming with corn hole boards, games and drinks were flowing! Excellent service. Can't wait to go back.
google avatar

Paul A.

Yelp
Food very average, service was extremely slow and the area we sat was cold. Zero atmosphere.
google avatar

Alex W.

Yelp
The Lodge is yet another pretty decent bar restaurant in the Tempe scene. Maybe it's only downfall is the location since it's just outside the immediate Mill neighborhood, but they have an amazing indoor/outdoor space so you're not cramped like at one of the Mill bars. When you walk in, you're greeted by Sasquatch himself! As with typical outdoor Arizona bars, they have misters and bar games #JengaQueen. On the inside they have a few arcade games. They normally have daily drink and food specials, which during the COVID crisis they're steeper than usual (helloooo $7 loaded chicken nachos on Thursdays!!) When you can dine in, the weeknight beer specials are crazy good. The staff pour liquor drinks well... really really well. :)

Wendy W.

Yelp
This place was kitschy and cool. We wanted a laidback time and we got one. Server was great. Food was yummy. Burgers were awesome and the green hatch chile was nice and spicy. We were there on a Wednesday so they had DJBingo which was so much fun. Just scarn the QR code and play along. Such great nostalgia.

Yelp
Based on the service, I would give four stars. The ladies at the bar were really nice and asked me if everything was going ok. They checked in with me and they also cleared my plate before I left. The food was good, but nothing extraordinary. As for the setting of the restaurant, they had a parking area in the front and back of the restaurant. I say area instead of lot because the footprint of the parking area was small. There was, however, a dead end street nearby that added additional parking. I hope people find this information useful. I know understanding the parking situation at the restaurant I plan to go to is very important to me. The outdoor patio was hot. They had a huge fan to help people stay cool. I'll most likely make my next visit when it is cooler or if I sit inside rather than outside. I also really liked their Big Foot Dip, which is a cheese based herb dip.
