The food, the ambiance and the service is absolutely amazing. Came here for a business lunch and they did not disappoint. This will be my go to place when I’m in Laguna Beach. The views of the beach are breathtaking and there’s nothing like it anywhere in this area!

My wife and I had the pleasure of dining at The Loft for our anniversary and, by the time we left, we agreed it was one of our top 3 favorite meals we've ever had. We made a reservation for a little later in the evening so we could walk around the resort and beach area for sunset and would highly recommend it as the surrounding beaches are beautiful and picturesque. After, we sat down for dinner on the patio, and enjoyed the gorgeous view overlooking the Pacific. Robert was our waiter and was an expert at his craft. He was extremely kind, helpful, knowledgeable and couldn't have made our experience better. The food was stellar - we had the stone fruit salad, coffee crusted NY Strip and roasted carrots. They also brought us a chocolate surprise for our anniversary and we still ended up ordering another dessert because of how good everything was. We ended with the mille-feuille, which was exceptional. We both left the meal with big smiles on our faces and have been talking about it every day since. The Loft is a true accomplishment in a culinary and service experience. Thank you, Montage and Robert, for an unforgettable evening!

I’ve been to The Loft at Montage Hotel twice now — once for lunch with my husband and once solo for dinner — and overall, it’s a beautiful spot with great food. During our first visit for lunch, we had fresh juices, the grain bowl, and a Caesar salad. Everything was delicious and well-prepared. Unfortunately, the terrace was not an option due to ongoing construction as it was very loud, which definitely took away from the experience. We were really hoping to enjoy the outdoor seating and the views. For my second visit, I came alone for dinner. Even though there were plenty of empty tables, they made me wait about 10 minutes to be seated, which felt a bit unnecessary. But once I was seated, the rest of the experience was enjoyable. I ordered the scallops — there were only three on the plate, but they were actually quite satisfying and tasted great. Definitely more on the light and elegant side. Overall, I do like this place and would come back — especially once the construction is finished. Sitting on the terrace seems like a big part of the full experience, and I’d love to enjoy it properly next time.

We had an amazing breakfast experience at Loft. Me and my friend ordered omelets, egg Benedict and latte. The food was delicious and the view breathtaking! Our server was professional and at the sametime hospitable.

Google
Wonderful evening to start our Vacation! We came right at the start of Dinner.. no reservation, no wait & the hosts were able to accommodate at the beautiful tables along the ledge! Food was excellent, service was exceptional especially Emerson (he was extremely kind). View is breathtaking.. I look forward to dining again. I recommend all dishes pictured.

The loft is easily one of my favorite restaurants in SoCal. On my last trip warmly greeted and seated overlooking the pool and the ocean, the Sommelier Gary helped me and my date pick out a bottle of a fantastic Riesling and spoke with us a while about chartreuse varieties. The waiter made some recommendations including an off menu parmesan risotto which ended up ordering with a lobster tail. The foot was exceptional and the lobster Tail served over the parmesan Risotto currently lives rent free in my mind. Great experience and I found it to be great value for the service, setting and food quality they provide.

The food was nothing short of magnificent. And the Service from Milad was super attentive and well informed.

My hubs and I frequent The Loft often and always have great service and food. Unfortunately, their reservation policies are so rigidly enforced. They require a card and 48 hours notice to cancel (not uncommon). I called the morning of my reservation when I realized there was a chance of rain, and explained my elderly mother is ill and sensitive to the cold so I didn't want to take her to the beach. It is not a holiday, and the restaurant is not at capacity. There are plenty of tables for new reservations. At first, the receptionist said no worries to canceling. When I asked to confirm I wouldn't be charged, she checked and said, "oh no, you will be." $40 per guest (three of us), no exceptions unless "someone is in the hospital." Montage is not hurting for money or business. I was respectful and am a frequent guest with no history of no-showing. I'm very disheartened that they treat their patrons this way.

Yelp
Bella & Mikey have served us multiple times here and they have been so so good with myself and my friend Brenda whom I always come here to have business meetings with. (We live for the coffee steak) but everything is great! From the appetizers, drinks and the dessert! On top of a beautiful view. Thank you Bella & Mikey for being great servers and so kind! Always a pleasure to see you both.

Yelp
I'm sad to say that after many times coming here for special occasions we came today to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary and we did not have a great experience. The food was just ok. We got the pasta bolognese. It wasn't anything special, tasted like something we could make at home. The lobster tail we had to take it back was very over cooked and bouncy. It was nothing special as well. We ordered dessert and it was ok. Didn't say Happy Anniversary. Especially being 20th anniversary we thought at the very least write something that says happy anniversary. We have pictures in past of the service staff going out of their way. We have had such great experiences before with amazing service this was just a normal mediocre dinner. We also asked for a smoked old fashioned as we also have a video in the past of having one here and we were told they no longer do that. So disappointed. Service was just ok. Waiter never asked if i wanted something additional. Took forever for my husband to get his drink. We decided to go and get something at the lounge. The service at the Lounge was amazing! Super appreciate how attentive they were and made our anniversary special. Our server brought over Hayley the manager and they brought us an anniversary dessert. I highly recommend The Lounge ! It was amazing! Drinks were also on point! We probably won't be back again to eat at the Loft. There are other places with better service and food. Very disappointing celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary.

Yelp
Went here for a classy oceanside brunch What I tried: * Banana French Toast- This is what I ordered, and it was delicious It was fluffy and soft which I loved, and had caramel on top making it pretty sweet. The macadamia nuts weren't too overpowering or nutty which I liked, and the caramelized banana was a great topping. There was some whipped cream too that added to the sweetness * Caesar Salad- I shared this with one other friend as an appetizer. This was sooo good!!! There was a good amount of dressing, but not way too saucy- it was the perfect amount to bring the flavor. The shaved cheese, ricotta salata, was so light, airy and soft making the salad even more enjoyable. Thin crouton bits were on top, and these were also very light and satisfying to eat. * Raspberry Yuzu Mocktail- This was delicious and refreshing! It had raspberry and yuzu obviously, but also lychee, which definitely added to its amazing taste. I was worried the raspberry would make the drink feel medicinal, but that was not the case at all! It was fruity and sweet, and looked gorgeous. What my friends got: * Grains Bowl * Eggs Benedict They both liked their items! I had a bite of the grains bowl, and it was good for what it was. It's a great "healthier" option while still being flavorful and having variety on the plate. Located inside Montage Hotel & Resort in Laguna Beach, The Loft is a great restaurant for breakfast/lunch with a pleasant ambiance as it offers a gorgeous view of the ocean There's both indoor and outdoor seating- we waited a bit extra for the patio seating but it was worth it. The service was also great, the hostess and our server were so sweet and great to talk to.

Yelp
We have been at the Loft Breakfast three times over our stay and the view on the mosaic pool is magnificent. The service is very friendly with Madison doing a fantastic job. Their croissants are freshly made in house and delicious and I don't say that easily as a Frenchman. They start bringing you a banana bread sprinkles with white sugar. The omelette orders have been a hit and miss as they brought us a normal omelette when we ordered an egg white omelette. But they immediately addressed the situation. You can hear the wave of the ocean calmly hitting the beach. It is serendipitously beautiful!

Yelp
Holy cow, I think this is the first fine dining experience I've been to and I was not disappointed. The montage is a beautiful hotel and this restaurant was an amazing addition to it. First of all, the waitress that greeted us at the door was incredibly nice and complimented my friend and I and we got sat down immediately facing the beach and we were met with our server who was so patient with us and explained the menu throughly which was amazing! We ended up taking our server's recommendation and ordering the caviar, NYC steak and the bolognese. In my opinion I think the caviar was okay, it was also my first time having it so maybe I just wasn't a fan of it in general..? However, the steak was phenomenal. I wish I could have 30 if I could, the flavors of this steak just melt all together and I appreciate the addition of the coffee flavoring and the Brie that comes with the steak, everything was just curated so intentionally and you can taste it. The pasta was also so amazing the sauce was cooked perfectly and paired well with the noodles. They also gave me a complimentary dessert because it was my birthday as well! I was obsessed and I hope to come back again! Great views and great bites.

Yelp
Birthdays are divine at the loft! Whether you are turning two or 88 like our dear Sir James. You want to celebrate on the patio . We did a little bit of both. We went downstairs and had a cocktail at the piano bar and then we had a wonderful midday lunch. They have some of the best burgers in all of Orange County. I of course, opted for my favorite Caesar salad with salmon .. always delicious. Very dog, friendly, very kid, friendly very people, friend, friendly. Incredible service as always.

Yelp
Ambiance - 5/5 This restaurant has one of the best beach views in Orange County. The vibe was very tranquil, relaxing, and quiet. The service - 5/5 I booked our reservation through OpenTable and had no issues. From the moment we were greeted from the host, and served by our waitress, the level of hospitality was worth eve try penny spent! The staff were very knowledgeable about each menu item and how they were to be prepared! The food - 4/5 Although the menu appeared to be simple, you can tell a lot of thought was put into each ingredient served. There was no lack of flavor or ingenuity in each dish, I just removed one star for the wait time. Overall, I would come back for a special celebration!

Yelp
What a great hidden gem!! We met some friends and sat at a table in the bar area. Service was friendly and quick. I ordered the ahi tuna salad - so good and fresh! Really spicy tho with the wasabi sauce! Highly recommend! It was one of the best lunches I had in Washington! My husband ordered the Rueben (I think). He ate it all! Everything loooked great and they serve local beer - plus!!

Yelp
How amazing! The food, staff, and view were all fantastic zero complaints. Everything went perfectly, and I had an incredible day with my mom. The team is so attentive and wonderful; make sure to tip them well, because they truly make the experience special. Highly recommend!

Yelp
This review is not about the food but about our waiter Fernando! He was not very professional and somewhat rude . My family and I have been twice to the loft for breakfast and BOTH times he skipped me when taking the orders and he would only ask my husband if he needed anything. It was really strange like he intentionally wanted to ignore me . We won't be coming back .

Yelp
Location is breath taking. Weather is amazing and food is so delicious. Sounds like heaven huh! Well it's a bit pricy but take the situation into account! ;-) For service, all I can say is to book in advance for sure and use valet parking. Otherwise, parking is a big mess. Note that there is $40 deposit needed per person when booking. Indoor and outdoor seating. Outdoor is balcony with pool / ocean view. Don't miss French Toast and Shakshoka!

Yelp
We came as a group of five for breakfast at the Montage hotel. Unfortunately, the experience was extremely disappointing: the food was not fresh and tasted poor, the coffee was charged higher than the menu price, and we were overbilled on the check. We did not leave a tip because the service was unsatisfactory. However, as we were leaving, the waitress ran after us and insisted that we pay a tip, which was completely inappropriate. For a hotel of this level, such service is unacceptable. The experience was very unpleasant, and we do not plan to return. Double-check your checks.

Yelp
Was turned away from a completely empty restaurant because they said they had to accommodate the hotel guests. I asked if we can be seated since we were planning to leave in 45mins but was told no. I returned in 15 mins to take the photo and their restaurant was still completely empty . Now I am sitting at Raya in Ritz Carlton which I would have not discovered if montage wasn't acting that way. Much better place, much better view. I was a regular at Montage. Will be coming here from now on instead.

Yelp
Nice place for a dating dinner with perfect view. Food is not bad but still has space to improve.

Jeanie C.

Yelp
They really need to update their breakfast options. The food just seems...uninspired. They need to find a new way to serve potatoes as they are often dry. Who wants whole roasted potatoes for breakfast? They just are not good. I've been coming to this hotel for years and I'm always disappointed in their options for breakfast. But I've had some fantastic salads there for lunch so three stars for that. And you can't beat sitting on their balcony overlooking the ocean.
google avatar

Ashif D.

Yelp
I've been here several times and must give them 5 stars for their service! The ambience is very nice because it's situated in the Montage hotel, the food tastes good, we love espresso martini and cocktails shrimp. Parking is easy, valet only. The overall experience is very good!

Yelp
Monae greeted and seated us on the patio with a smile. The view was amazing, but it was a bit chilly even with the outdoor heaters. Robert greeted us and kindly adjusted the heater in order to pump some heat closer to the table which I was so thankful for. He discussed cocktail options and then opened the bottle of wine we brought with us so it could decant before dinner. Robert delivered our drinks and graciously moved us inside to a different table, also on the window with an amazing view since I was still cold. Unfortunately with the table move we lost Robert, but we inherited Sean who was beyond fabulous! Sean had a great personality and was very passionate about the food. We learned that he'd been working at this location for five years. He is amazing and his knowledge of the menu was exquisite. After guiding us through our selections he brought out a basket of fresh warm wheat sour dough bread and butter. The bread was some of the best I've ever had. The inside was soft and fluffy and the crust was perfect with a nice crunch. The butter was decorated with lava salt from Hawaii that is flown over. So cool! After pacing myself on the bread which was hard, we enjoyed the pork meatballs, agnolotti, and the radicchio & castoefranco salad with a beet dressing that was delightful. They were all mouth wateringly delicious! For dinner I ordered the crispy fried sole and my husband enjoyed the flankers ranch 28 day dry-aged ribeye. We shared a side of beets with our entrees and devoured it all. Sean did a wonderful time pacing our meals and checking to ensure well loved everything. He truly went above and beyond and stands out as a waiter. We will absolutely return and ask to be seated with him again. The bidders were prompt, my water glass never reached 1/2 before being topped off which I graciously appreciated. After dinner we shared a seasonal desert of toffee butter cake with a side of gingerbread ice cream. It was perfection!!! Drinks: A moment in thyme Heir ap-pearant To know- corkage is $50.00 which is on the much higher end of fees compared to other fine dining establishments. Parking is valet but does get validated at the restaurant.

Yelp
Everything we ate was amazing but this dessert was over the top! We celebrated our anniversary and we were so surprised when this dessert arrived! The staff is so attentive and the evening could not have been more perfect! You can't beat the spectacular view of the ocean either.

Yelp
This was a dream to dine at The Loft at The Montage, Laguna Beach. I know that recently they have gained three new phenomenal chefs to their kitchen. I was honored to eat their food. Everything was just wonderful; we stuck with a seafood dinner, starting with King Prawns and finishing with a Branzino dish. The prawns were my absolute favorite dish- even all year for me. The cook, seasoning, and preparation was absolutely perfect. My waiter and the staff attending was outstanding and full of knowledge on their menu, quick with recommendations, and liberal with accommodating our every need for a fantastic experience. I couldn't be more thankful to all! I wish this could be a weekly event for me but it was such a special, birthday treat. Well done to everyone, and I highly recommend this experience.

Yelp
Had dinner at the Loft on a Saturday night. The atmosphere is absolutely amazing with beautiful sunset ocean views. The inside and outside of this property is stunning. As far as food goes, it was good but not great. For appetizers we had a dozen oysters, which were good. For entrees, we had the pasta bolognese and a roasted chicken dish. Neither one was memorable, just average. The service was excellent. We had a very personable waiter, I forgot his name, but we did enjoy talking to him. I would def go back, but mostly for the atmosphere.

Yelp
Came for brunch. Great views but make sure you have a reservation or there might be a wait! If you spend more than $125 you can get 1 car free valet parking. Otherwise they do validate, dropping the price to $30 valet. Or you can park on the city street meters, public parking by the hour, or drive up Wesley for neighborhood free parking (pay attention to signs). We were a two people so we only spend $110 for brunch so parking on the street it is! They brought banana bread while we wait for our food. Cocktails are a little small for the price (it is a nice hotel) but the food was delicious. They can do a bit better with plating as the eggs Benedict with potatoes didn't fill the large plate up. You're paying for the nice views, immaculate restrooms, and easy access to the beach!

Yelp
I and my family joined my 2 sisters, brother in law, nephew and mother for a family get together. The restaurant is very upscale and located within the Montage Hotel. The service was excellent. Everyone had a very memorable evening catching up with new life events, travels, plans for kids before / after college. The food was simply amazing. I really enjoyed my New York Strip steak that was perfectly cooked medium rare. The chocolate lava cake was also very good.

DJ D.

Yelp
Beautiful setting and the food - breakfast and dinner - is good. But something has gone awry with the service here that can only be attributed to the on-site leadership (or lack thereof). So so slow. And at time indifferent. Short staffed may be a reason but it's no excuse. Shake it up from the top - it's a great place otherwise.

Yelp
Beautiful restaurant inside of Montage. The service was excellent. Our waiter was very attentive and thoughtful. He brought all types of pastries because we were celebrating a birthday. The food tasted clean and the ingredients were fresh. Upon entering the restaurant, they asked if my son wanted a toy from the treasure box which was a really nice touch. My son was beyond excited. As we left the restaurant, they asked my son to grab another toy from the treasure box. So so sweet! The view was beautiful, the restaurant was spacious. I really dislike crowded restaurants. The service was amazing. We will be coming back! Hopefully get the same waiter!

Yelp
Such a wonderful experience here. Great view, service, and food. Located downstairs at the Montage. Our group went on a Friday afternoon on a beautiful day, and there weren't very many people there so there was no wait and choice of seating anywhere. We sat outside which is a really nice enclosed patio, so the wind is blocked and there is shade. The lunch menu is relatively limited, but everyone really enjoyed their meals. Our group ordered the chicken sandwich, swordfish sandwich, bisque, and burger. I had the burger, and it was cooked and flavored to perfection. Fries were nice and crispy. Loved my meal, I'd definitely go back for it. After your meal, you can take a nice little walk on the grounds and beach. Parking is valet, but there are a couple limited spots for self parking (Maybe 3 or 4).

Yelp
The loft is the main restaurant at the Montage. If you sit outside you have a great view of the pool and ocean. Although it was good, I prob wouldn't come back unless I was staying at the hotel because it wasn't anything memorable, but If you are staying at the hotel, it's convenient and tasty. Caesar was good, comes with two heads but small enough to cut and perfect amount of dressing and lots of thinly grated parm. Sourdough with ricotta- very good; olives piled on the ricotta makes it interesting; the ricotta is very light and fluffy with lemony flavors. Super light airy bread for dipping. Agnolotti- amazing , full of flavor, highly recommend. Filet - 8oz, hubs asked for medium plus and it was cooked correctly. Very good. Branzino- the fish was cooked perfectly; the vegetable tapenade on top was chunky and didn't have a ton of added flavor so I just pushed it off; I wish it was more finely minced and olive based. Didn't come with rice or any carby addition, just a very light carrot puree which was delish. Still would recommend. Whipped Potatoes and Potatoes au gratin - I would skip, the whipped potatoes were as expected, but the gratin was not my favorite- the potatoes were sliced a bit too thick for my preference and not enough saucy cheese to make it worth the caloric splurge :)

Yelp
Exceptional experience. Views of the Pacific Ocean, fantastic food and a server, Brandon, that only added to the experience--one of the best we've ever had (and we're not young!). I had the Branzino in a clam chowder and bacon sauce and it was indulgently good! Highly recommend and ask to sit in Brandon's section...you'll be in for a treat.

Yelp
| Awe-Struck Appearance | absolutely love the Montage Hotel Brands. This flagship location is no exception. The Loft is a great place for dinner. We always request the balcony (no guarantees), but if you do get the balcony seating you can see the lovely Laguna Beach surf view; the mosaic pool tiles; and even glimpse a wedding if one's going on in one of the Lawns. | Presentation Snaps! | The food is delicious as always. I really enjoyed the presentation of the sea bass with the prawns - head-on shrimp is juicy. Try out the appetizers here and don't skimp on dessert! | Perfection Service | Our family really liked our server! Montage is known for friendly service, and the Loft is no exception. I can't count how many times they've been so accommodating to our special meal requests (gluten free bread; lactose intolerance, etc). Park at the nearby Treasure Island lot or valet and enjoy!

Yelp
It's a very nice restaurant with a beautiful ocean view of Laguna Beach located in the Montage Resort. Food was delicious. We ordered appetizers from their raw bar- shrimp cocktails, oysters, and yellowtail. Seafood was very fresh and tasty. For entrees, I had salmon plate with kale and purée. It was flavorful but had a spicy kick to it. Not a dish for those who can't do spicy. Chocolate pistachio cake and cocktails were so yummy and refreshing. Service was good. Our waiter was attentive and professional. It's a pricey restaurant so expect to spend some money. Overall portion is pretty fair. Some dishes were a bit small for the cost though. I will come here again.

Yelp
I was walking on the beach of Treasure Island and decided to have a bite here. Since it was a bit windy, I sat at the bar and decided to order the soup of the day which was sweet potato. Well, it was a disappointment. No taste or texture. What was also disappointing was that I was entertained by the broadcast of the Golden Globes on the bar TV. Suddenly, a male customer sat at the bar and without any concern for me, the channel was changed to sports. I couldn't believe it. I spoke up in a playful tone, which I regret. I should have questioned that decision in a serious tone. It's exhausting to witness time and time again, the power of the patriarchal society we live in. But even when I joked about it, the channel stayed and I didn't hear any apologies. Lastly, it was my birthday, and while most places have special ways to make the occasion memorable, this place had none. On a positive note, the bartender, Smith, was very courteous up until the channel switch incident. I hope that more businesses realize that women are also sitting at the bars and spending money. Give them the voice they deserve. It's 2024 -equal rights is here.

Yelp
Millions of visitors from all over the world come to Laguna Beach each year and it's kind of crazy as a OC resident with 15 minutes away I don't come as often as I should. Beautiful Ocean View, amazing staff from everyone works at Montage and The Loft. It's been a while since last time I visited with friends. This time I ordered Salmon, Filet, Scallop, Pork dishes (sorry forgot the names ) and ended the meal with one of their signature dark chocolate cake dessert. Everything tastes great. Well done The Loft I will be back.

Yelp
A Special Place. That's what the Loft at Montage is. The gorgeous views over the Pacific, the sun going down into a sunset that only California can provide, provide the perfect backdrop to impeccable service and simply amazing food and drinks. Our group of 4 had a table outside which overlooks the pool area of the Montage and looks out at the Pacific over the cliffs of San Clemente with about a 180 degree view. Once seated, we were greeted quickly by our waiters, provided water and given a moment to look over the cocktail, wine and appetizer menus. We ordered a dozen oysters on the half shell and one of our party had the ceasar salad. The oysters were perfect and the accompaniments were great. I particularly loved the Apricot Habanero sauce which comes in a small vial. You don't need much, but it's a perfect blend of sweet and heat. The other toppings were also excellent. The Ceasar salad was reportedly excellent as well. These were all accompanied by a Chopin Martini (Up and Bone Dry of course!), a glass of the Russian River Pinot Noir, a Glass of Santa Barbara Chardonnay, and a SideCar. The drinks were perfect. Our waitstaff also brought delicious sourdough bread and butter. For our mains, we had two vegan diners so they each had the Cauliflower Steak and some mashed potatoes on the side. They reported the Cauliflower steak was well seasoned, nicely grilled and delicious, as were the mashed potatoes. The Cauliflower was accompanied by a sauce called Zugh, which was really very tasty with some heat on it. We also had the scallops which were cooked to perfection and melted in your mouth. I had the grilled Salmon which was perfect. Cooked Medium was the right call, very moist, but cooked through. The sauce on it is remarkable. We finished with some desserts that were awesome as well. Try the Affogato, Panna Cotta (Vegan Friendly!), and the Montage Sundaes! WOW! Don't miss the Loft. We'll be back!

Yelp
This establishment is either dealing with some serious logistical issues or they're just downright discriminatory. You be the judge, but either way, you've been warned. We booked some rooms at the Montage this past weekend to celebrate a family friend's 40th birthday. Aside from an odd flex we witnessed where some apparent VIP asked some children to be relocated away from their seats by the pool, everything was going well until day 2. Waking up and gathering our two families of four, we headed down to the hotel's only restaurant, The Loft. The couple in front of us apparently were upset about not being able to be seated on the balcony as they'd requested, but the hostess took their names and numbers and promised to make things right. Then, it was our turn: "Do you have reservations?" "No, sorry." "How many in your party?" "Eight." [Looking past the birthday girl and myself and realizing our spouses and children were part of the package.] "Sorry, we can't accommodate you." "Umm...what if we split into two groups of four or...?" "--Sorry, we can't accommodate you." There was no "It's looking like a wait of X minutes..." or "We're busy today, but you can always order room service or try _______ instead." Just a fancy *GTFO* a la that boutique scene from Pretty Woman. We politely took the L and embarked on an absolute odyssey to find some food for our kids and learned the following: -The bar by the pool apparently doesn't serve food until 11am. -A nearby place called "the Light House" that may be recommended to you by someone in the elevators either does not actually exist or is not within walking distance. -This hotel complex is secluded (maybe the draw for some)--it is built into the bluffs facing the ocean and away from the village where restaurants and cafes are located. -The coffee cart back in the hotel lobby can't feed you either. Sorry. It was only in inquiring with a member of the hotel staff about the coffee cart that this situation was fortuitously resolved. When they suggested that we try The Loft, we explained that they were full. The hotel's GM happened to be standing within earshot and upon hearing the exchange--to her credit--marched us all back to The Loft, where we were immediately seated. I tried to rationalize this off-putting encounter in multiple ways: a. Perhaps the guests from the wedding party the night before had swamped the restaurant? --Nope. My wife pointed out that the wedding party had a separate buffet set-up outside the restaurant. And we noted several open tables all around for the duration of our meal. b. Maybe they just didn't prefer seating a party with four kids ages 5 to 8, because they were worried that things could get noisy? --To the extent that that would be a valid reason to turn away hotel guests, there were plenty of other kids in the restaurant, including a toddler that was crying the entire time. (Maybe she had an issue with the lousy service?) c. Maybe a bunch of guests really had called in with reservations, but had just no-showed, unbeknownst to the hostess? --If this is the case, you have two serious logistical issues: (1) you operate a secluded resort hotel with only one restaurant serving breakfast, which does not have enough capacity to feed the hotel's own guests and/or (2) your reservation system is completely dysfunctional. d. Or perhaps...we were treated differently because we look different. I hate to go there and we literally marched four hungry children around in pointless circles like fools to avoid having to even think this terrible thought, but it became increasingly difficult to ignore this possibility as the saga wore on. I'd like to think that we and our friends represent, in our own little way, the best of what's possible in this melting pot of a country. But maybe two mixed (Chinese-Indian, Mexican-Greek) families choosing to further mix it up with each other in an old money hotel in a city that is a veritable time capsule was just a bridge too far for these guys. Maybe it wasn't even the fault of the hostess; maybe she's just trying her best to cater to the ridiculous demands of the hotel regulars, who themselves don't prefer having children and/or different-looking families sharing their air when they're just trying to soak up the last dying rays of some fading cultural sunset that I'm not capable of grasping. Who knows? All I know is that something is seriously wrong with this place, and unless you're a VIP/regular, there is a distinct likelihood that you're going to be made to feel like an outsider. I hate leaving negative reviews, but I have a sneaking suspicion that this will be one of the rare negative reviews that is embraced both by those outsiders who have now been warned and the insiders who are more than happy to keep this place exactly how it is. +1 star for the hotel GM and our server Fabiana, whose warmth and service were greatly appreciated.

Yelp
It is always beautiful there. The food and service? Not so much. Drinks were not refilled, and orders were either taken incorrectly or provided incorrectly. Overall service is not even the minimum, forget the Montage quality we expect. The items received are not what is printed on the menu. Caesar salad with zero romaine? No Caesar dressing. I ordered added chicken, but it was too salty to eat. My friend had no trouble with it so that it could have been me. We have bad luck. It is shame.

Yelp
Lovely restaurant attached to the Montage. Made reservations for four at 6:30 in a Thursday and had our choice of inside or outside. We ate on the deck; although it was chilly outside an awning and ceiling-mounted heaters kept us comfortable. Our waiter was knowledgeable and did not rush us through the meal. We had plenty of time between courses and he made recommendations on popular dishes. His recommendations were especially valuable for dessert. I had a Peruvian Sour cocktail, which was a fairly basic but well-mixing bourbon-based sour. For my first course I had the butternut squash soup, which was a standout. The tagliatelle was good and plentiful, but not as good as the salmon my coworker chose. For dessert we had the Strawberry dessert and the molten chocolate cake. Both excellent, though very different, desserts. We all liked the strawberry more - it was a good light option after a large meal.

Yelp
Wonderful service with beautiful view! After spending time at the beach we decided to head over here at random. The interior was a lounge set up with large couches and some tables, we were seated right in front of the balcony window and got a perfect view. It was a beautiful way to end a perfect night. There's also two restaurants below as well. Great for dates or just to relax and grab some drinks

Yelp
Fantastic location for sunset dinner. Great staff, better food. Coffee encrusted sirloin might be the best steak ever. Will be back!

Yelp
Went for dinner with a group of 10. our waitress was amazing i didn't catch her name unfortunately. i shared the filet which came with potatoes and olives and it was fantastic. it did have a glump of butter on it which i would of don't without because the steak itself didn't need any. we also shared a chicken caesar salad which was good, chicken in my opinion was over seasoned but salad was good we got it with no egg yolk because personally i don't like that. they had a great selection of mock tails which was fun! very cute inside the restaurant would for sure go back!

Yelp
One of my favorite places to dine that I've visited a few times. Like other reviewers have said- amazing service, beautiful view and ambiance, and delicious food. To start, they serve complimentary sourdough bread with softened butter. We decided to share the coffee crusted steak with mac and cheese. Absolutely incredible, and it's one of their signature dishes. We shared the chocolate bomb dessert, which was a bit underwhelming. They used to have a chocolate dessert that was more of a show. It was a round shell and they poured hot chocolate over it. That's what we thought we ordered, but we were mistaken. Still, amazing meal and we'll be back for sure.

Yelp
Everything about the Loft and the Montage is phenomenal. This is our second visit and this time was solely for dinner. From the valet to guest service staff we encountered in passing, and of course the wait service staff who served us we were cared for. We were seated outside per our request with a beautiful ocean view. We started off with house water and house bread which comes with a homemade butter topped with black salt. Next we got the whipped ricotta which is a favorite and the oysters which were a treat. For dinner we ordered the coffee crusted New York strip which is hands down my favorite steak, seasoned perfectly and paired with an incredible glaze, plated with arugula and a slice of blue cheese. We also ordered the whipped potato's and carrots on the side, both were fantastic. For dessert we had a strawberry topped puff pastry that was filled with homemade lemon verbena ice cream, wow! Everything was an experience, so delicious, so perfect, from the service to the food, 10/10!!

Yelp
Had an unbelievable meal here last night. Octopus was some of the best I've had. The chicken rotisserie with the squash and brussels was to die for. I feel like if you can make chicken that exciting, you're doing something right. I loved the fig & flame drink, it was delicious. Service was great too. Thanks for taking care of us on our mom's birthday!

Yelp
My wife and I have been coming to this hotel/restaurant (LOFT) over the past 25 years and always had a great experience. We recently came to spend our 25th wedding anniversary and was shocked at how different it was. The food was great but it took 2 hours for dinner. The waiter was friendly but I could tell was frustrated with the delays. All the other tables were waiting for food. Our drinks were not refilled and nothing was offered as a remedy. I can only surmise that the reason was the kitchen/chef. The restaurant was not full so I don't know what the issues were. It was a disappointing night and I am not sure if I will return.

Yelp
This stunning restaurant is inside The Montage. My boyfriend brought me here to celebrate my birthday. Upon arrival, my table was ready. I was given a great table facing the ocean. My waiter was very attentive. My steak was cooked to perfection. My dessert was delicious. I left this place feeling so happy and special. The place is definitely not cheap, but for a special occasion. It is definitely worth every penny. I would definitely come back to this classic and romantic restaurant.

Yelp
Beautiful views. Great service. Enjoyed the 3 egg omelette and the eggs Benedict. Love the warm banana nut bread they greet you with!
