I have lived at the Logan for 2 years it is a great location, safe and has a beautiful rooftop. The management team is dedicated to the residents and handle concerns in a timely fashion. The event spaces are also ideal for hosting.

3/25 late post, i moved out 3/16 and still ants everywhere. 3/6/25 Here’s another update of my apartment, moving out process. 2/18/25 I wanted to provide an update regarding the ongoing situation. While the issue persists, I've learned that Alameda County Vector Control offers free inspection services for residents experiencing similar concerns. I encourage any neighbors facing these challenges to contact them for a professional assessment of their units. These conditions warrant prompt attention to ensure our living spaces meet proper health and safety standards. 2/13/25 What began as a beautiful living experience at The Logan has sadly deteriorated into a nightmare. While minor ant issues were manageable last year, the current infestation has made my apartment unlivable. Despite numerous pest control treatments, the problem only worsened each time. Management's inadequate response forced me to file a city violation notice. I cannot recommend The Logan unless you're prepared for an ongoing battle with pest problems. What breaks my heart most is seeing a once-lovely home become completely uninhabitable.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

A Year Later – Still No Security Deposit & Ongoing Mismanagement I lived at The Logan for two years, and while the property has changed ownership multiple times, Erika has remained the property manager for the majority of my residency—and unfortunately, so has the poor management. Throughout my time there, the building cycled through three different ownership/management groups, and a constant stream of leasing agents, front office staff, and maintenance workers. That kind of turnover led to frequent miscommunication and slow support. But the most unacceptable part came after I moved out in July 2024. Despite providing a forwarding address, I have still not received my security deposit—nearly a year later. Erika initially said she would follow up but has not responded to a single email, phone call, or even a certified demand letter. She has been consistently absent and unavailable to residents, a recurring issue I experienced firsthand and heard echoed by other reviews. I escalated the issue to the Regional Director at Brookfield Properties, the current owner. She informed me that a check had been issued in December 2024, and was sent to my old address at The Logan—months after I had moved out and provided new contact information. When I requested to be connected with someone at Sentral, the previous management group, the Regional Director stopped responding to my emails. There’s been zero accountability, zero urgency, and zero respect for tenants' time or money. Do not move here.

*Updated Review of The Logan In March 2025 - We moved out after living here a year and a half due to The Logan’s unacceptable management practices, persistent rent overcharges, and an unresolved flea infestation. Despite numerous formal complaints via email and in-person meetings, management failed to take appropriate action. Erika Bernal Barragan repeatedly assured us she would follow up, yet left our concerns unacknowledged for weeks at a time. As of March 31, it has been over 14 days with no response to our formal move-out notice and request for compensation. The Logan is misrepresented as a luxury residence but is plagued by mismanagement and disregard for tenant rights. Future renters should be aware of the ongoing issues before committing to a lease. February 2025 I would highly advise against renting at The Logan. We have been dealing with a flea infestation for over a week now, and the building management has done absolutely nothing to address it. Despite repeated inquiries, they have failed to take any meaningful action. To make matters worse, we were overcharged rent by $5099, and they have refused to correct the issue. The lack of communication and responsiveness from management is horrendous. We have had a completely unacceptable experience here, and I cannot recommend this building to anyone.

Ky Thompson was absolutely amazing during my tour at The Logan! From the moment I arrived, she was welcoming, knowledgeable, and genuinely enthusiastic about helping me find the perfect home. She took the time to answer all my questions, provided detailed insights about the property, and made the whole experience enjoyable and stress-free. Her professionalism and friendly demeanor truly set her apart. If you’re looking for a top-notch leasing experience, I highly recommend working with Ky.

We lived here for nearly 3 years, and really enjoyed the unit and the front desk staff. However, the property manager (Erika Barragan) failed to send us our renewal on time twice, and never responded to a single email enquiry. She was constantly unavailable the second year, and just treated tenants with contempt. Maintenance towards the end of our 3 years really took a dive, and we had ant problems numerous times throughout the year (we lived on the 5th floor, and they would in from the corridor and the window). The new owners seem unwilling to hire new staff to assist the already overworked leasing office. We moved out at the start of March 2025, and have not recieved any word regarding our security deposit which will need to escalate. I'd highly recommend new renters skip the logan til they resolve these issues.

We scheduled a tour for 1:30pm today and no one showed up — security was not at the front desk and the leasing office appeared closed despite business hours. We left at 2:15pm (after texting and calling several times). Lobby smelled great. Many neighbors shared parking floods after the rain and the property management is extremely unresponsive so appears we didn’t miss much.

I've got a few more weeks left here at Logan, and I must say that my initial intention was to give this place a three-star rating. However, I'm now pleased to admit that my satisfaction level has surged to 100%, all thanks to the new staff this year. During the time when Yessenia and Cassandra were managers, I never felt at ease due to the lack of privacy and a sense of welcome. But the current team, both in the office and at the front lobby, has gone above and beyond to create an atmosphere that truly feels like home - it's comfortable, respectful, and secure. Furthermore, their attention to maintaining the building has been impressive. They've promptly addressed issues like the wear and tear in the elevator, which I personally never struggled with despite the complaints from others. The cleaning staff also deserves commendation for consistently keeping the hallways and lobby impeccably clean and pleasantly scented. One aspect I appreciate is the round-the-clock security, along with the convenient access to amenities like the rooftop, gym, and lobby area. Of course, the apartment unit itself is exceptionally modern, attractive, and spotless. I happen to reside in a unit that faces Telegraph Ave, and I find it quite appealing. In terms of potential improvements, I believe there's an opportunity to enhance the lobby area by maintaining a more serene ambiance. While I enjoy upbeat and pop music, I feel that a calmer atmosphere in the lobby would be more conducive to conversations, studying, and work. Overall, my experience with this apartment has been highly satisfying, largely due to the exceptional efforts of the current staff.

Update: over a month and a half after moved out (the law provides 21 days to provide your security deposit), and lots of emails demanding I get my deposit as lawfully owed to me, they send me a check for $233.24 and absolutely no explanation of any deductions whatsoever. THIS PLACE STOLE MY DEPOSIT. But maybe the same won't happen to you?

I can't say enough good things about The Logan. From the moment I stepped into the lobby, I knew this was the place I wanted to call home. The attention to detail is amazing - from the sleek finishes in my apartment to the cozy and stylish common areas. Maithy, Ky, Kevin, and Jamar are fantastic and always friendly and responsive. Maintenance requests are handled quickly, and the staff is always going the extra mile to make residents feel welcome. I especially love the rooftop lounge - the view is breathtaking. Highly recommend The Logan.

We are so excited to sign our lease and move into The Logan! We've been visiting several apartment complexes and The Logan is by far the best! Maithy, the Sales Specialist, who helped us choose the perfect apartment, is amazing. She is responsive, super helpful, and so kind. She's gone above and beyond to walk us through the building and amenities multiple times. And she quickly responds to our emails and voicemails. The building is immaculate and we love the outdoor space...especially the rooftop gardens. Thank you, Maithy, for making us feel at home and very welcome!

That maintenance team is top notch! They have always been quick to tackle whatever issue we may have, and are courteous & helpful through the entire process.

Gosh! Not sure how I would have done it without Maithy's help. it was my first time renting an apartment and I had some issues with the online application process. Maithy helped me resolved the issue and even helped me set up my PGE account. The Logan is a beautiful building with high quality appliances, amazing rooftop view, and the location of convenience is top notch. The only thing I wish they would consider doing is adding some fireplaces to the rooftop.

Maithy was so incredibly kind and helpful over the phone. She answered all my questions promptly and was very patient with me during the entire process. I've struggled many times dealing with leasing managers but Maithy made everything so easy for me, I'm beyond pleased with the service she provided me. That woman deserves a raise!

Wow, so much to say! Where do I start... the Logan is such a nice place to stay. The staff from the maintenance team has been so dope and chill. Me and my girls don't want to leave our new apartments because it's so nice. My doggo loves the high windows and is always enjoying the view! Also Maithy has been so helpful with everything with my move in! Thank you so much for letting me be part of the community.

Living at the Logan has been an amazing experience! The staff are thoughtful and helpful, the gym and other amenities are always clean and well maintained, and everyone I've met has been so kind! They host fun events which are great opportunities to meet new people and sample some food and bevs. On the rare occasion maintenance is required, staff are always responsive and efficient in resolving the issue. If you're interested in a place full of friendly people, lovely staff, and near a ton of amazing restaurants, I highly recommend the Logan.

I've lived here for few years and I've experienced the change of the staffs of the apartment. The current team really makes the living experience different! Maithy, who is likely the first and main contact for all new and existing residents, is just AMAZING. She's alway responding our asks friendly, timely and effectively. She listens to your asks and figure out how to help (vs responding "professionally" with no action items). It's also a bless to have John and Kevin to take care our maintenance and packages. Also kudos to other day/night staffs, for keeping this big apartment up and running. You won't find a single apartment has zero negative review, for various reasons. But a good staff team can make most your days easier.

Modern Art Deco and arquitecture. Rooftop provides great views with a nice and refreshing garden. Can't say much about the experience of living here, but those looking for a classy modern environment in the middle of Oakland, could check out this place!

The building is nice and modern, and the units are beautiful. But that's it. Everything else is pretty disappointing. We've been here since July 2021 and wish we could break our lease and leave. Elevators and trash chute are constantly breaking, there's not a consistent way to enter the building and take the stairs, there is disgusting and smelly standing water in the garage, and the trash is constantly overflowing in the garage and on the street. Building utilities and trash monthly bills are over $100. Rent is expensive and the building is marketed as a luxury property, but with everything constantly breaking, it's not a luxury experience. Look elsewhere.

Live elsewhere or prepare to be annoyed on a weekly basis. We've been here 7 months. There are so many long standing problems that management/ownership refuses to solve. The elevators are constantly down. Trash chutes break every week and dumpsters overflow and stink up the parking garage where stagnant water has been lingering since the last big storm. (Rodent heaven!!) Fire alarms go off so often people have started ignoring them. People do not wear masks in any consistent fashion. Every week we get 2-6 alerts about something else that's broken. This is not a luxury building, though the prices are of that level. And if they offer you a deal get it in writing, they re-negged on what they verbally offered us. Also note that the one positive review from this year was posted by someone who lives in a different town and we saw them have a professional photographer follow them around. Never seen them before or since. One star because the staff is very friendly and seems to be doing their best under these terrible circumstances.

I've lived here for nearly 3 years now and the new staff is such an improvement. I now really enjoy the building and fully recommend it. Notably, Kevin and Maithy are fantastic. There were so many problems in the past with packages going missing, and then Kevin came in and made great practices to ensure reliability and accountability. Several times I've seen he stays late to ensure late deliveries are logged and secured, and when I recently took a trip he proactively ensured all my packages were safe and waiting for me which never would have been reliable before him. He has a great work ethic, is super nice, and is organized. Maithy is also fantastic. When you email she is responsive, helpful, and has great follow up, which is rare in these types of buildings. The two of them make a huge difference. Maintenance team is also stellar and have been here for a while, and our night staff are ledgends- they go the extra mile always. Overall staff is nice, knowledgeable and prompt. The people in the building have always been great. It's also very quiet, concrete building. Draw backs would be that there is no dog spaces so you have to take your dog out in the middle of the night and the area is not great for that. There's a huge open space on the 2nd floor that they should make into a dog run or more farm and put a dog run on the roof but dont. There's also nowhere to wash your dog, car, or bike so you have to track mud in during rainy months. The roof is gorgeous but only usable in summer. There is no covered space and no heaters. Some trade offs, but on the whole the management now matches the price tag.

Nice building, cool location and all, but seriously not the place to live. Management personnel has been nice, but the building management itself has been far from an ideal situation. If it's not one thing it's another - constantly - from down elevators, to broken trash shoots, a flooding garage that smells like sewage, and loud Wholefoods neighbors.. Look elsewhere!! P.S.- Don't get me started on why the trash bill went from $30/month to over $100/month now.

Gorgeous brand new apartments. When I lived (2021-2022) here our unit had never been occupied which was great. The bathrooms were elevated and luxury in every sense of the word. The units definitely have the wow factor and details down. The rest of the building however... not so great. There's no dog run so you are forced to take your dog out near the lobby and it's not always safe. Little frog park is conveniently in the back of the building and an area I would frequent for short walks with my dog however it had its problems with crime. In fact, when I moved into the building the crime that year was up and down so you never knew what you would get. I think the final straw for me was the random shootout over the summer in the middle of the street near Curbside Creamery. The gym is a former yoga studio they converted to a gym and when I lived there they had way too much equipment lining the perimeter of the gym. The ventilation was so bad and I lived on the 5th floor, with the windows open 24/7, I never felt like it aired out 100%. The garage smelled like sewage and once Whole Foods was moved in they moonlighted the rooftop and communal spaces as Whole Foods corp event spaces. This became obnoxious it felt like Whole Foods owned the whole building once they started having events on the roof and in spaces that were for residents. One night I remember they had a guest list to get into some of these spaces and I'm thinking "uhh I live here". There were a few bike room break ins but I never felt unsafe in the building per se. Convenient to hop on the freeway and grab food in Temescal. This area is a bright spot for obvious reasons (nearby food, bars, community) but the prices were outrageous. Once our concession was up I was paying upwards of 5k for a 2 bedroom. We obviously gtfo when our lease was up because no way! The view of the city from the roof was gorgeous but there wasn't a lot to do up there besides stare out until it got cold/windy. They also had front desk concierge that would handle mail, questions, and if you had a guest they would show them to the elevator. I thought that was a nice touch. I miss living in Temescal but not the price tag.

the maintenance team at logan was very responsive when my fridge broke down. they come in and swapped the broken fridge with a brand new one. thank you.

I have lived at The Logan since January 2021 and I cannot recommend that anyone live here. The building is billed as "luxury" but that is a lie. My complaint with The Logan is not that it doesn't have a doorman (they rely on multiple apps instead) but rather that they cannot even get the basics right. The latest example is that they gave us less than 24 hours notice that they would be testing the fire system _all_ day on the Monday after Christmas. This means that the alarm was constantly going off from 10am to 6pm. I suffer from PTSD and not having sufficient notice to make sure that I was not in the building has been really bad. Spend your money elsewhere. The building is beautiful but you'll never actually enjoy living here. You have plenty of other options for the price they are charging.

This is not a luxury experience. I enjoy luxury and don't mind paying for it. The Logan, however is the pits! It's one of those places that tries to do too much and not enough at the same time. I lived there in 2022 and the beginning of 2023. The prices are high and the living experience is low. Although they tell you that all the apartments have their own ventilation, it isn't true. Whatever disgusting thing your neighbors are doing in their apartments you will smell it in yours and in the halls too. Not in the lobby and Mezzanine areas, where they have a cheap overcast fragrance to cover the other smells. In the evening, in the halls, you can smell the smells of other people's lingering greasy kitchens, their cigarette and weed smoke and their dogs' smells and these get into the apartments through the vents. It's difficult to get those smells out of one's clothes and upholstery, especially when they are constantly coming into your apartment. Additionally, the garage parking constantly smells of raw sewage. Sometimes, it smells like they pour Fabuloso down the drains and then it smells like a nauseating mixture of Fabuloso and raw sewage. I think that's why they didn't want to show me when I toured the building. In order to move in, there is a complicated, time-consuming process of reserving elevators, and using two elevators (going down in one and then traipsing in between or around cars through the parking lot and then going up another elevator) to move in or out. I had to pay my movers for an unnecessary hour because that system is so convoluted and flawed. We were stuck in the stinking parking garage for almost 40 minutes waiting for the elevator that had somehow been hijacked from the reservation. The garage parking fee is more than $300 and cars and bikes have been broken into and stolen since I've been a resident. There are many additional fees that one mightn't expect. Such as a package fee, which would be fine, except I had my Amazon packages stolen from the box itself! I stopped receiving packages and still had to pay the expense. Also, the trash fee is close to $100 but the chute never works and there are always large bins of overflowing and open dumpsters outside. Oh, and another thing they don't tell you up front, they have no plans and will not refund your deposit, even if you have your place professionally cleaned. They say every professional building takes your money. But, that is just a lie so you can feel better about being robbed by the Logan.

beware!!! do not apply here...your holding deposit is totally non refundable. no matter what. i applied, was approved, then i was informed that the infomation on the website was not fully represented. therefore i requested a refund within the legal timeframe. at that time, i was informed that the company align does not give refunds. however, the representative suggested that i speak with a corporate representative. the representative apologized and informed me that she would approve the refund. i never recieved the refund of $700 since then, i have dealt with 2 different onsite property managers, with the promise to resolve the issue. when i sent a demand letter, the manager made a false attempt to wire the funds directly into my account. it's been over a year and i still have not recieved my $700, nor has my emails been returned

The fire alarm goes off ALL the time here and expect the elevators to break consistently. Love our unit but these have been two ongoing problems since we've moved in months ago. We will not be living here again. Management is very nice though!

We are excited to sign a lease at The Logan. Looking for an apartment can be frustrating and Maithy Nguyen provides first-class service and lives on site. Maithy is knowledgeable about the apartments and building as well as the neighborhood which includes a Whole Foods and many restaurants in Temescal and also in Rockridge which is walking distance. The public spaces are spacious, full of light and greenery to enjoy outside the windows with spaces to exercise, meet with friends, work or just relax. The rooftop has incredible views of SF and the Bay, Berkeley Hills and Oakland with lots of places to sit, unwind, and cookout both covered and not. Maithy prides herself on knowing all the residents who walk in the secure lobby and organizes events for residents twice a month including meditation in January and outdoor yoga in the courtyard in the summer. The apartments are nicely laid-out with high quality kitchen appliances and high ceilings.

Maintenance takes forever to get to your request and it is hard to reach the leasing office. The water takes a while to get hot as the heater is shared with all units. The unit is very nice as it's brand new, we are the first occupants of our unit. The parking is manageable but at $250 a month for the first car and then to have some random car take your reserved spot is infuriating. I can't even find someone to reach out to when that happens so I end up parking in spots where I haven't seen a car parked in since I've lived here. One elevator is out of service pretty often or when it's reserved for people moving in, it takes forever to get everyone on and off. The mailroom is constantly loaded with everyone's packages and there aren't enough lockers to store all of it. The best things going for this place are that it's brand new, it's walking distance to restaurants and bars, and it's right by the interstate.

Just moved to the Logan! The staff is friendly/helpful, and the amenities are great. The neighborhood is nice, and the dog park is right behind the building!

We had an wonderful experience working with Ashley during our apartment hunt. She was very professional and supportive in answering our questions, making sure we had all the information we needed. She also gave us an amazing virtual tour, highlighting the major features of the apartment complex as well as the surrounding neighborhood. Although we ended up not signing a lease with The Logan, we would definitely recommend checking it out with Ashley as a guide.
