"Long Play Lounge’s East Cesar Chavez location is the second in this popular vinyl-centric Austin franchise. Glitzy gold-curtained stage? Check. Disco ball? Check. Full wall of LPs ready for the DJ to spin your favorite tune? You’ll find it all here, plus a spacious outdoor courtyard and some great happy hour drink specials, like $5 Bulleit Bourbon Old Fashioneds on weeknights. Or try the MIA with Bulleit Bourbon, Aperol, Amaro Nonino, and lemon for a new spin. Pair with records, live music, or bring your own instrument and join the weekly jazz jam." - Vox Creative

Really cool spot with outdoor and indoor seating. Daily happy hour 4-7 with $5 Old fashioned, $5 ranch water, $5 still austin bourbon and $1 off drafts. Taco truck next door, Barrett’s coffee (verified good) across the street. Will be back to hangout for sure! I am sure the night time vibe is great with the lights.

Long Play is a nice little bar off St. John’s. It’s actually pretty cool and I like how they converted a house into a bar and put a bunch of picnic tables and lights out front. The place looks really nice and has a lot of outdoor and some seating. The staff is really nice and helpful in the places pretty clean. The drinks are reasonably priced and they have a wide selection. The cocktails are interesting concoctions, and although I tried a few like Luna Rosa, Fernette Lynn and Fancy Margarita Rita I can’t say any of them were amazing. The old-fashioned on tap was actually our favorite. Overall, this would be a great place to grab a beer or drink and hang out with some friends.

Long Play is a the perfect neighborhood bar. In additional to the awesome bartenders and staff, local eateries can pop up with their amazing food, the drink specials always hit the spot, and the music feels like it came from my own mixtape. Patio area is great for a nice night, they have heaters for the winter (and if it is cold enough they inclose it). Inside is cozy and you’d be surprised how many people can get in there. Dog friendly outside (has water bowls). Near train station and bus stops.

I've only ever come at night, and only sat outside. The mix of music that they play is usually great, the bartenders have always been really nice, and the atmosphere outside on the picnic benches is really good. It's a quiet chilled out neighborhood bar where you can easily talk to the people you are with. I can't comment at all on any of the food places as they've never been open when I've been here. I wish they used a different cleaner/disinfectant inside as the smell of it is the reason we don't ever visit on a day you'd need to sit inside. Not the biggest issue though when the outside is so nice and Texas weather is generally reliable for sitting outside!

This place used to be cool. Used to be. But last night customer service was farthest from their mind. It’s clear the bartenders are tired, overworked, or just downright cranky. I walked in wearing a guitar on my back and, as a joke said “I’d like a Negroni and a song”. And immediately was met with “NO PLAYING MUSIC, we play our own music”. The bartender clearly didn’t get that I was just asking for inspiration and it was lighthearted conversation. I wasn’t going to do anything against their rules — and it was clearly too loud to play in there. What’s the deal? At 12:00 they asked us to leave, so we were went to finish our drink outside, but the cashier proceeded to continue to crankily tell us to leave. I don’t understand why sitting outside for another 10 minutes past closing is such a big deal. She even tried to recover from her faux pax by saying she appreciates our business, But the mood had turned sour at this point. Will not be coming back if this kind of customer service constitutes. The whole point is that it’s a place to relax, not to be bullied. Here’s a simple way to fix this — set your closing time to 11:30 PM and then give people a chance to wrap up.

One of my fav small quiet bars. Makes me happy to be moving back to the north side. DJ spins vinyl. Really goooooood vinyl. Met a friend there a couple weeks ago. Sat inside and closed them down. Bartenders were cool when they asked us to leave (we were lost in conversation). Gotta love! First time there, saw my 'safe' musician crush. You should go too, maybe you'll see him! (Hi Michael! Love it when you yell, "I love you". That's why I yell it back. Real sorry about that first time!)

Google
The $5 old fashioned is definitely a $5 old fashioned but they have other amazing cocktails. Paprika has a taco widow there - you can go wrong ordering a quesitaco!

Google
We used to come here before Covid and it was awesome, came back after and today it was a total disappointment. When we asked the bartender to play the Eagles she said they didn’t have it. They were playing White Stripes so we asked for Cage the Elephant and then she said they didn’t take requests….i thought the thing about this place was about that, at least it was. Ordered the Old Fashioned on draft….DO MOT ORDER IT..it’s nasty, all I tasted was BITTERS. We were highly disappointed, used to love coming here, but now they seem to cater to younger regulars. UPDATE: Great response! Shows exactly what I was expecting from this place.

Yelp
Been here a handful of times for past 8 years. Came last night and it's still just as good as my first experience. Small dive bar with phenomenal drinks, service, atmosphere, and prices. Drinks: Old fashion on tap: 7.5/10 - seems this batch was stronger than the past. It had me tipsy off of just one. For $8 can't complain Hot toddy: 10/10 - the flavor, the cute cup and presentation, the temperate - all perfection. Hot cider: 9/10 - nearly perfect, it just needed a hair less cinnamon and it would have been a 10 Bad hatter specialty drink: 9/10 - flavors were unique. Very boozy but not taste wise. If you're a whiskey lover, try this! Inside was exceptionally warm on a cold night. Almost too hot, had to step outside to get some air. Our bartender was very polite. Glad to see this spot is still as good as I remember it to be.

Yelp
The drinks are unique. Great tasting. Atmosphere and vibe are...cool, but kinda of an expected trend here in Austin. At least to me visiting. Looks like a hole in a wall type, but, hipster...you will feel the trendy. Music and DJ aspect are cool. Service is good, fast, friendly. I just can't get past the 2 bar seats only. A bar should be social, and I didn't really have someone ask if I wanted another drink. Almost self service maybe? The regulars seem to get the attention they deserve. But I don't understand, when I have money to spend, no one wants to take it at times. Still a cool place. Just wish they'd want my business more than they put off as. I'll stick to my home base bar back home. Place is still worth a visit. Outdoor seating is cool. This is just my opinion btw.

Yelp
Lowkey and intimate spot with reasonable drink specials and chill bartenders. The sangria special was really yummy even if a bit small- probably the best $5 cocktail around. The DJ sets are fun and it's still mostly possible to carry on conversation during them. The concept of a tiny little bar spinning vinyl sounds like it could be overly precious but this was a very relaxed and inviting environment.

Yelp
This is truly a hidden gem bar. For chill and relaxing vibes, it's the spot to go. They play some great music that instantly boosts your mood too. It's all on vinyl! Service is pretty quick since this is a bar, but you can find Paprika in their parking lot serving fresh tacos. Not sure what else they had but everything was sizzling. It's a smaller bar but they do have a patio, and are dog-friendly. There's not much parking in their lot so you will probably have to circle around or find some at the apartment/food complex across the street.

Yelp
This place is a vibe. Great music, great cocktails, and super reasonable prices. We will be back soon!

Yelp
EXCELLENT FIND and one of our other favorite stops of our entire trip in Austin! We were just at the gaming bar nearby and it was a weeknight so they closed relatively early and we weren't ready to head back to our hotel yet. So thankful for my trusty Yelp app that helps in situations like this. Did a quick search and while the majority of other restaurants in the immediate area were also closing at the same time, the Long Play Lounge popped up around the corner. Dive bar? Music? Open late? Yes, yes, and yes! This spot was great! Cozy little inside bar but quite a few outside picnic tables which is where we set up shop. The bartenders were great and they had a nice drink list too. It was such a chill spot to hang at - dive bar without being grossly divey. Awesome neighborhood bar choice and I'm glad we ended up there for a few hours to close out our evening!

Yelp
Fantastic spot for a nice drink and a casual but elevated hang. They have a drink for everyone, cheap beers, a couple craft options, good cocktails and some solid wine selections. It's small inside, but cute and welcoming. Picnic tables outside under a beautiful tree with string lights complete the ambiance. We love stopping in for a nightcap.

Yelp
One of my favorite spots for casual hangouts. They now also have tacos served sometimes outside and that was awesome! Great happy hour 4-7 every day $3 lone stars and $5 old fashioneds! Highly recommend.

Yelp
Very cozy drinking spot if you want to hang out with a couple of friends or if you want read a book or work on your next exciting project. The lighting adds to the experience and there's even an outdoor area if you want to bring along your pooch.

Yelp
Cute lil spot! Has some small indoor bar area and seating and more outdoor seating as well! Got a mezcal grapefruit cocktail (can't remember the name) but was super tasty! Nice lil hang out spot to get a drink or two, cute neighborhood spot for us. We'll be back for sure

Yelp
My Husband and I were out for a date night. We had decided to stop at another bar off of St John Ave. We stopped in and realize they allowed smoking so we walked right out and came to Long Play. Best decision EVER. This place is so cozy and cute. We love going to dive bars and it had that feeling/vibe. We were stopping in just for a drink before heading to our dinner reservations 10 mins away. We ended up having more than 1 drink and never left to go to dinner lol. We loved the place and vibe so much. The live music, the awesome bartenders, the food. We ended up having amazing tacos from the taco truck at the back of the bar. Highly recommend both Long Play and Johnny's Taqueria out back. What a fun night for us. We will be back soon.

Yelp
Y'all, I think this place is delightful. Extremely chill vibe, great north-central location, and a big, beautiful patio. They have old fashions on tap for $5, which I think sets them apart - as well as assorted Korean food, including dumplings. This place reminds me of eclectic, old Austin, and I absolutely love it. I could see it being an institution in 20 years like Lala's is now. Can't wait to go back :)

Yelp
Awesome lowkey bar in North Austin; they specialize in whiskey cocktails so try their on tap Old Fashioned!

Yelp
I've found Long Play to be a good reliable hangout spot if I'm looking for a non-brewery casual environment in the neighborhood. They have a wide array of drink options that should keep any group satisfied. There's lots of sizable tables on their patio. Enough so that even though they allow smoking outside I've never had to sit close enough to a smoking table to be bothered by it. The bartenders are all really friendly and happy to make suggestions. If you're there on a less busy night the indoor seating has a nice intimate atmosphere, but can get crowded fast on the weekends if the weather isn't great outside. The Korean food was super unexpected the first time I visited, and while I haven't made it part of my experience most times I've come here, I can't remember myself or any friends having a bad experience with the food. Overall I'd highly recommend giving them a try if you're looking for a casual bar in the area!

Yelp
Came to see my bud DJ Bluelight Special spin some vinyl. . Place is super chill and has a good vibe. There is no food truck as previous reviews mentioned so make sure you eat something before coming over. Otherwise an awesome place to have some drinks.

Yelp
This is a cute, casual neighborhood bar. Great cocktail and whiskey prices and a chill vibe. We sat outside in the lovely, little courtyard, which was perfect for us. The whiskey cocktails are tasty and everything was well priced. Service was quick and polite.

Yelp
Cozy neighborhood bar with fantastic cocktails. Had the Old Fashioned and the high-end margarita. Both were really good. It's small inside but that is part of the charm. I hope no one reads this so I can get a seat at the next happy hour.

Yelp
Moving into the neighborhood and so happy to have this spot nearby! Awesome happy hour with $5 old fashioneds on tap. Cute patio picnic tables are frat for casual groups & our pup! Can't wait to come back to try some food.

Yelp
This spot has become our local neighborhood favorite. We love the proximity to our home. This place is the perfect relaxed atmosphere to enjoy a savory bite and a great drink. Great playlist, outdoor and indoor seating. Overall very friendly place.

Yelp
Long Play may be the best neighborhood bar in Austin. The cocktails are outstanding, especially the Pinkerton. They serve Korean food, which is out of sight. I had the fried chicken, which was crispy, juicy and just a little bit spicy. It was served with a radish salad, I think. My friend had the bibimbap, which was also excellent. It's kind of small inside, but the patio is pretty spacious and dog friendly. And the best part is they play full vinyl albums over the outdoor speakers. They've got great taste, and I would definitely be a regular if I lived closer.

Yelp
I loved this place in my new 'hood. Great, reasonably priced cocktails. Outdoor seating (a must during pandemic). Friendly, welcome service. Great food (new Korean menu-- try the Korean pizzza). And walking distance to my place. What's not to like?

Yelp
We found this place on google by chance and I am glad we did. Love the theme of the bar. Love the vinyl records that they were playing on the turntables . We discovered new music. We enjoyed a couple of Christmas cocktails. We enjoyed the vibe of the bar. We will be back!!

Ty G.

Yelp
Very cool place. Great staff, great drinks, great atmosphere. The vinyl is a perfect touch. The sound is great and their selection of albums is fantastic. Go there. You'll love it.

Joe M.

Yelp
Very chill vibe reminded me a lot of an NYC/Williamsburg bar. Inside is small but has an awesome decor setup. Very romantic good for a date night. Bartenders were very kind and helpful/funny as well. Had old fashions on tap which I've never seen before. Also has a big parking lot which was a nice touch

Yelp
First time here and truly truly enjoyed the experience. Super calm vibe. Great vinyl selection. Only had cocktails. No food. Cocktails were reasonable and crafted well. Overall very good first impression and we will be back.

Yelp
Cool bar with a nice dog friendly outdoor space. The hot dog place just outside was SO GOOD!! How Much?!
google avatar

Zach I.

Yelp
I loved this little bar! Great ambience with the classic music. They also have a fairly large patio outside with tables and chairs. Small on the inside; however, it's extremely cozy. Went here for happy hour and had a cocktail - strong and delicious at an excellent price. Will most definitely be back'

Yelp
I love this place, their happy hour is great and the pecans from their pecan tree are delicious

Yelp
Super smart liquor selection and quality choices on draft. Record selection is impressive as well.

Yelp
I liked the vibe of the old spot, Royal Jelly, so it was a relief to find Long Play is very much a worthy successor. Stopped by for a margarita and a bowl of meat chili while running from point A to B on Sat eve. The chili is indeed delicious - no beans, with a good amount of heat inherent - I'd place it as one of the best bowls I've had in all of Austin. Good liquor selection for cocktails, and a goodly amount of picnic tables out front to soak up the sun. They were spinning Herbie Hancock and Specials records, which hits some sweet spots for me. Added bonus that I easily nabbed one of their adjoining parking spots. Hoping this one sticks around - it definitely has the makings for a great neighborhood bar!

Yelp
Drinks are interesting, food could be a LOT better! I find the record/vinilo aspect of it endearing but not practical.

Michael T.

Yelp
This place is awesome!! I love the amazing record collection!! The patio is huge and pet friendly
