"The long-lived and relocated Loon looks like a nondescript Uptown bar: It’s in an old house (trendy) with an expansive patio (naturally). But then order a drink — one good-God-this-is-strong drink — and take a bite of a burger that’s better than it has any right to be and, ah yes, it’s obvious why this has been an Uptown standby for more decades than most of its patrons have been on earth." - Alaena Hostetter

Great place... They made me feel very welcomed even though I was from Houston .. I will differently return one day... Well until next time signing off Two Peas

I’ve been coming to this establishment for years. The owner was very unprofessional and needed validation from a Caucasian couple to determine if we was telling the truth or not. I will never be a good citizen again for picking up an empty liquor bottle off the ground just to make your establishment look better. The way you handled the situation was totally unacceptable. The whole African American table you kicked out has degree’s. It’s not over have blessed day

Google
Good customer service. And good atmosphere. We sat outside and enjoyed cigars and libations. I didn't get any food but was told by others around me that food is good.

Toyia

Google
The GM was very rude the fact that he told us if he remakes our pizza that we had to pay for two pizzas even though the original one was not touched ( due to the crust being burnt black as tar) because it was burnt was crazy to me and the owner didn’t help with the situation. I am in management and wouldn’t talk to my customers to a point were other customers could hear what was going on, So I wonder do other races get treated that way or just black people smh 😡🤬

Levi Nichols

Google
I sat at the bar and was taken care of immediately, the bartender recommended the spicy lemon pepper wings and they were delicious! The vibe in here is great, not your typical uptown vibe which was nice, they had the game playing on multiple TV’s so it was nice to enjoy some wings and watch the game!

Google
I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! experience some unusual behavior with the owner and the owners friend, the manager allowed her to disrespect customers for fun very aggressive behavior. I've been a customer of this establishment for years I reside in a 5mile radius. Sadly I will not be returning..!!

Google
Local neighborhood pub that has weekly specials from food to games. Trivia night is a must if you and your friend want to go out and have a little fun.

Don Green

Google
The owner and especially the general manager were very rude when it came to us explaining how our pizza was burnt!!!! The GM told us if he remakes it that we have to still pay for that pizza and the new one lol that's some 🤬 The monday special is not worth it. Our sever Asha was awesome she always have a great attitude 😍

Brad G.

Yelp
Welcoming place, diverse crowd and lots of interesting and friendly people. The pizzas are very good and lots of neighborhood people that can walk home.

Allison McMaster ..

Yelp
We love coming here! Great sports bar to catch a local game at. Super casual with lots of regulars. Would highly recommend checking out their pizza deals on Mondays.

Maggie L.

Yelp
haven't been here in quite a while. Was not really all that satisfied with our meal. OK burger, onion rings that were underdone and tasted like raw flour. Bologna sandwich was ordered with lettuce tomato and mayonnaise. Nothing else. A bologna sandwich with tomato and mustard, no lettuce and cheese glued to the bun. I do applaud management for removing the bologna sandwich from our tab. very nice attentive server.

Caroline Z.

Yelp
They make really yummy cosmos here! We accidentally came on a night when the game was on, so it was crazy crowded and loud, but we were able to still get a table right away and get our drinks! Cute place, would definitely want to try this again when it's less crazy!

Chuck H.

Yelp
At first glance, it looks like a decent dive bar, but after seating ourselves as the sign suggested. We waited for 10 minutes before I had to get my own menu. Then ordered a Kentucky mule and they had never heard of it. So I ordered a bourbon neat. Once we got the waitress's we ordered nachos. They took 25 mins to bring them out and as you can see from the photo, it was store bought tortilla chips, store bought shredded cheese, diced tomatoes, and pickled jalapeño. We haven't seen our waitress since she sat down the underwhelming nachos. DON'T waste your time here.

Clarie C.

Yelp
I wanted to go to a sports bar to watch the basketball game between Iowa and South Carolina! Booom off the chain. I got the feeling we were having too much fun. Kinda loudly, I would say! The bartender was a complainer! Not friendly at all. We ordered food! I had a rueben sandwich and onion rings, and my friends had burgers! The food was OK. The onion rings was not all that. The batter fell off the big, thick slice of onions. The burgers looked good. I didn't pick up on any friendly vibes. It's like I was outta place. I may go back, but it will be a while.

James S.

Yelp
A great neighborhood vibe with a "Cheers" type of where everyone there knows your name. Most of the customers are regulars and the bartenders make sure to let you know who they are and where they work! I went on a Tuesday! I highly recommend! $2.50 tacos that are huge and tasty and $5 tequila shots. I will be back!

Tiffany T.

Yelp
The Owner of this establishment and her customer/elderly friend are condescending and unprofessional. The Owner allowed her customer friend to walk up on us, to tell us what we are doing wrong. The owner came outside to our table with aggressive behaviors to the point her husband had to calm her down. I will not be going back

Meesha M.

Yelp
This is a great hidden gem near uptown, Heather and Hallie were awesome also was Felipe helping getting things done, checking on the food for sure, here is what you need to know, patience is key for great food service! Specially nowadays! Specials are delicious and drinks are awesome! We will return for more soon!

Brandon C.

Yelp
I was there for a cocktail. First time I've ever been there. The owner was intoxicated and started an issue with a table that just walked in. Stated some racial tones. Followed them to the parking lot. I will never be back. The disrespect towards paying customers was crazy. Bartenders quit that same night. I suggest finding somewhere else to go. They treat people very disrespectfully

Tiff R.

Yelp
Loved this bar. Kind of Divey. Not from Texas but the bartender was really nice. If I'm back in town i am considering coming back to this place!

Cash H.

Yelp
My favorite spot for all the puppy love. The loon is our local dive-bar that offers a great atmosphere (puppy love), access to water bowls on the patio, and did I mention our own Puppy menu (check out photos)! With the option of being open every day and late nights on Fridays and Saturdays; I'm able to come here when I want and just enjoy the patio with friends (humans and pups). For the mommies and daddies; there's a full bar and a great human menu from apps, sandwiches and entrees (mommies fav: chicken fried chicken)! Come play with me and don't forget to say hi to all my aunts and uncles (owners and employees)! Update: now open til 2am on Thursdays.....karaoke starting at 8pm

Matt T.

Yelp
The Loon continues to be a diamond in the rough in uptown. Largely Italian menu in a 'hole in the wall' atmosphere, reminds me of pubs in New England. I remember this place from two locations ago, from when I used to work in uptown. (The current location used to be Patrizio's pizza). It was a value leader then, and continues to be today. Staff is nice and friendly. Service was a little slow during the cowboys game on a Sunday, but I can excuse that, due to the game. Glad to see this place still thriving through the evolution of uptown.

Jinja M.

Yelp
Delicious spinach salad with strawberries, blueberries, candied pecans with just the right amount of goat cheese and balsamic dressing. Add the grilled salmon. Easily a $20 salad but @theloon, it was under $12. #neighborhoodbar #foodie

John H.

Yelp
Took us over 2 hours to get our food, waitresses were more worried about their friends and karaoke. An hour in they told my friend they didn't have pork chops, ridiculous. When we finally got our food half of the party didn't get theirs. The waitress tried blaming it on the kitchen but this was not the kitchens fault at all

Mark Q.

Yelp
An actual "Neighborhood Bar and Grill" whose owners are on-site, daily. Very attentive staff. And after your third visit, they know your preferences. Fun, diverse crowd. A sports bar, but it's easy to tune that out if you're not into it. The menu offers something for almost everyone. The salmon is incredible...the sandwiches are also a good choice. The restrooms could use some work, but are passable. Unless you're a hard-core karaoke fan, skip that night.

Karen W.

Yelp
We just found this place and WHAT a find!!!!! It looks like a bar ... it is a really fun and good bar. The drinks are the kind of drinks you would make at home. Definitely a bargain for what you get. But...THE FOOD...oh my, this is a hidden gem for dinner. Or lunch or brunch. I recommend the lasagna. And brunch breakfast tacos. A definite must if you are looking for a fun, delicious meal. I've told my friends...go for the food, stay for the fun.

Kierra K.

Yelp
This food amazing. Service is great. Feels like a community. Been coming for 2 years no complaints!!! I'm

Yelp
Fun and super casual sports bar in the Uptown area. Great place to sit inside or on the outdoor sidewalk patio to catch a game and enjoy brews or cocktails. They also serve food but I haven't tried their bites yet. We sat outside this past weekend and enjoyed fresh air and good cocktails to pass some time. It was fun people watching and a mixed crowd of young 20s something and older folks too. The drinks were pretty good and somewhat strong...we enjoyed Tito's soda with a splash of cranberry. The service was great and our server was super attentive!

Robert F.

Yelp
We love going to the Loon. Great neighborhood bar in Uptown with sneaky good food, stuff drinks, and great prices!

Frankie Katie H.

Yelp
Best in Dallas! The best drive bar in Dallas, where everybody knows your name! The best food, great service and Ernie the gm, will be your best friend! Ernie makes you feel like your VIP! My girlfriends come here because Ernie makes the experience!

Taylor L.

Yelp
I'm not really a dive bar kinda gal. However, for a casual neighborhood watering hole with excellent pizza, this place is amazing. The managers and staff are SO friendly, you can tell they care deeply about what they do. Even the cook who made my pizza one night was SO sweet I ended up tipping her too. I love bringing friends here or coming in by myself. A completely unexpected surprise. Highly recommend!

Dave M.

Yelp
The Loon is such a great place. Amazing food,STRONG drinks, cool people. Kia rox. Definitely put it on your list for Dallas.

Larry G.

Yelp
Omg, this is so much more than bar food! I am having the double bone pork chop with loaded baked potato. $18 You just can't find a value like that anywhere in uptown on a Friday night, Drinks are awesome and the staff is extremely friendly

Brian S.

Yelp
I planned a party for my buddy made a reservation for 8 next to a window. We used to love going to the loon. What a fun place it used to be. I always liked well Wednesdays. Ordered the pizza special took 2 hours. My friends were a mixed bag of fries and burgers. Fridge shut down and one guy was told the pork chops and tator tots were in the same fridge. Service was with a smile though.

Javi D.

Yelp
Fantastic neighborhood restaurant/bar which seems to mostly attract the immediate locals, most of which seemingly live walking distance away and seem to all know each other as greetings, hellos, and hugs are commonplace here amongst the clientele. The Food is outstanding and the drinks potent, and having had (almost) everything on their menu, you won't be disappointed!

Kirstie K.

Yelp
My favorite bar currently to go to. A bunch of regulars and great drinks and food. It is my favorite!

Bobby G.

Yelp
This is the best bar in Dallas Texas hands down. Offers the best customer service, high quality food. I tell my buddies all the time that the cliffs burger is the best burger I've had. The owners are super nice, they hire great staff and the chefs know how to cook everything on the menu

Rick B.

Yelp
Strong drinks, good food, and a relaxed atmosphere - awesome! This is the American version of an English pub, with colder beer! I loved the decor; dead animals wearing scarves, dark woods, with neighborhood regulars in comfy but cluttered seating! Parking is limited, but the first few peops get valet. Staff is friendly, informative, and fun. Did I say the drinks are STRONG? They won me over with my first Vodka & Red Bull! The menu is more expansive than a normal bar, hence the 'pub' reference. They have everything from tasty burgers to chicken-fried steak! The Beef Nachos and Chicken Quesadillas were just right! Did I mention the drinks? Can't wait to go back!!

Nick W.

Yelp
It's not as epic as the original loon was, but the food is really good and the heavy pour on the drinks is a great value this place is a legendary and you won't be disappointed.

Will S.

Yelp
Stumbled in here to watch some hockey on a karaoke night. It was a great atmosphere with wonderful people, sat and chatted with some regulars and listened to bad renditions of classics. The beer selection had local Texas draft and the club sandwich was very good. Will be back here it's a fun spot

Marcus C.

Yelp
This place is still wonderful despite the new location. The drinks are as you remember, just like the food menu. You can't go wrong. A great addition is the dog friendly patio.

Kris S.

Yelp
This is my 2nd visit to The Loon for the MSU Watch Party and both experiences have been stellar. The staff are friendly, helpful, and quick...Melinda anticipate my needs before I knew I had one! Holly went out of her way to address a number of people by their first names. The staff never stopped moving or lost their enthusiasm for the crowd. I will continue to return...even after the Spartan's season is over. Go Green!

Nessa Y.

Yelp
Had a delicious burger. The fries are great! The onion rings are a little salty. Overall good value and friendly, hospitable service. With a good amount of parking. Would definitely return.

David R.

Yelp
Wow! Had a chance to check this place out with old friends. Met the new owners Linda and Tim and they made it all the better. Had a great chicken sandwich, then drinks on patio with good music playing from jukebox. Great drink specials and the staff is top notch. Friendly (but with healthy attitude). Check this place out after work, on the weekend or whenever. It's in a great uptown location with a large patio, heaters and misters. I don't give many 5 stars but they earned it tonight!

Ernie O.

Yelp
Will never eat here again. Service was slow and there was only one waitress. Felt bad for her, she was struggling. However she didn't know anything about the menu and took 15 mins to get lemonade. I cook better at home! I asked for cracked pepper gravy and they brought milk with pepper!! I know it's a bar but seriously??

Larry G.

Yelp
I was so pleasantly surprised by the quality and friendliness of this neighborhood bar pub. I came in late and received the most awesome super thick pork chop and loaded baked potato with veggies! A total gem of a find

J.C. K.

Yelp
The wait staff is solid, prices decent, food is good and I met some cool people there, but the owner is straight up sorry. She owns The Uptown Pub too. I guess I'll have to find somewhere else to spend my money. Where will I go? No other bars in uptown.....oh wait

Alex F.

Yelp
The Loon is a great place in uptown. One of the few local spots with great food and well priced drinks. Bartenders and servers are always amazing. Shannon is always great!

Margaux H.

Yelp
I used to go to the Loon in its former spot on Lemon Ave, friends said it reopened on Mckinney Ave and let's meet there for dinner and watch the playoff games. First it was pretty loud in there yet we could still hear each other, which is a plus. The food same very good food as the original spot. We had the fried Jalapeños, which were very tasty jumbo size in fact and just the right amount of heat. The burger was cooked a perfect medium well and loaded, almost had to unhinge my jaw to eat it! The tator tots were hot and not greasy ( as they should be). Service was the same as before fast, friendly and made sure our drinks were cold and recommended some selections to try. If you haven't been to the new location go, it's worth the trip especially if you were a fan of the original Loon.

Pablo P.

Yelp
Do not trust the owner. And this place is a dumpster not trust this place. Linda takes advantage of her regulars by continuously over charging them after they are slightly drunk. DO NOT come here if you do not want to drink and be scammed

Suzanne C.

Yelp
Hallie is the best server/bartender! She always makes us feel welcome & even remembers what we like to eat & drink. The food here is always amazing!

Kelley M.

Yelp
taco tuesday's are my favorite ... fresh lettuce and tomatoes ... along with the chicken that is TO DIE FOR!!! not a fan of taco tuesday's? i also love the hangover burger and the capresr salad!!

Carol A.

Yelp
The best pizza in Dallas by far!! Fresh ingredients, cooked perfectly, great company and the bartenders are the best in town. I ordered the "Rustica" well done and it was BOMB! They just moved to a new location which is super spacious, clean and gives you a "hometown" feeling!

Eddy S.

Yelp
A classic neighborhood bar, with this new location they went to the next level, so friendly, professional, nice patio, great prices. Also they close early due to Rona!! I love it, sometime I hate it cause I wanna stay!! lol Very profesional team. Owner always on it! Hallie and Robin best bartenders!!!

Audrey H.

Yelp
The location of this place is great. BUT I got the half carafe mimosa (which was amazingly priced). It was the worst mimosa I've ever had... not cold, not bubbly, and came out of a dispenser that had probably been sitting there for hours. I also got the breakfast burrito which was below average and the look of it was even more below average. Not to mention I got food poisoning from it all!!!!

Gabriel T.

Yelp
This place is a cool place to hang out after a long stressful day at work(for me). That's why I come here. Plus, the management and staff are nice and accommodating. In addition to having great cocktails and a relaxing environment they also have some bomb @ss food(it's unexpected). I recommend it. Try this place out. You'll like it.

April C.

Yelp
They have the best nachos around and a beautiful patio to spend time at on nice days. They serve Dallas blonde who could ask for more?

Austin A.

Yelp
I'd like to begin with this... I have been a patron of the loon since the early 2000's. And regardless of the location changes, it has remained my all time favorite establishment in the entire dfw metroplex. With that being acknowledged, not only is it the premier watering hole in the uptown (and that's just being modest, because we all know Dallas is a huge city and there are numerous destinations to visit but I have been to them all) but... its hands down the absolute best restaurant/bar in Texas. Yea.. you read that correctly, I said TEXAS. But the entire operation is beyond amazing and to just add the sprinkles on the cake,(because there is already icing and cherries all over it) the staff is easily the significant aspect of it all. Starting from one end of the spectrum, Linda and Tim (Owners) have not only carried on the personality and essence of The Loon, they have elevated it! They are absolutely amazing and (honestly) wonderful people! And that's just the tip of the sword... Ernie, one of the most genuine and content individual that I have even come across, anywhere... Then you have Robyn...who not only is an amazing woman but a 'lights out' representation of what The Loon is and represents. Oh... you probably thought I was done... apologies but I'm not! Then you have Christine... now she has a gift with people and a gift with being a 'one of a kind' individual. The proof is in the details... Now there is Halle, and I'll apologize ahead of time if I may have spelled it incorrectly, but Halle is a rare breed of amazing that the majority just aren't fortunate enough to come across ‍. But it doesn't stop there! Do you think you are a lucky person? Well, you aren't if you haven't met Lucky! How dare me say that right?! I don't know whose reading this... how can I judge that... well... because I did meet her! And until you do, you have no credibility to disagree with that (and you won't)... If you have ever heard the reference of "a diamond in the rough" now you can go and experience exactly what the statement embodies with this establishment. HANDS DOWN ‍
