"There are three great breweries in San Marcos - Lost Abbey, Port Brewing, and The Hop Concept - and they’re all housed in the same warehouse. Lost Abbey is probably our favorite. It’s a Belgian-style spot that makes a few beers you can find in most bars in LA. But at the taproom you’ll find some of their strangest (and best) stuff, like Duck Duck Gooze, a blend of barrel-aged sours, and Bat Out Of Hell, a bourbon barrel-aged stout with tons of cacao and coffee flavor. Don’t leave without getting some Dank & Sticky, a Hop Concept IPA that’s, well… dank and sticky. Before you drink, though, get a hike in at Double Peak Trail, a 4.25-mile hike that starts in a residential neighborhood, and has lake views along the way to the summit." - brett keating

Their new tasting room is awesome! Located in the back of a different brewery, getting here gives some speakeasy vibes. But walk through the back door with the Lost Abbey sign, and you're right in a fully functional and operational brewery. Smell the yeast, taste the deliciously fresh beer. I recommend the various methods, one of the best IPA's I've ever tasted. Great sours too, with ghost in the forest on tap. They just opened their new spot here too, definitely worth checking them out!!

This was a fun stop while Family was visiting in town. It had a great selection. We were able to sit at the indoor/outdoor table, which was perfect to enjoy the weather. Half of our group ended up choosing a flight, which was a perfect way for them to find their new favorite Lost Abbey brew!

Great to have a Lost Abbey off the 78 again! Always a treat to have their top tier Belgians on tap. Even saw Cuvee de Tomme and Duck Duck Gose there. They also have newer IPA options. Shared space with the original building owners, Mother Earth with their classic and experimental American styles. Beers average $8. NA drinks in cans. Minimal snacks. No frills, one stop brewery.

Definitely worth a visit. Great beers and even a food truck nearby if you’re feeling hungry.
