Lost Camel Hotel | Best places to stay in the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park

"This modern, ochre-coloured hotel makes an convenient base from which to explore the Park. The hotel’s 99 rooms are bright and lively, with an eclectic mix of Indigenous and European décor. The property offers an outdoor swimming pool and small bar, but guests have access to the dining and touring options at Ayers Rock Resort. The Lost Camel will appeal to families, singles and couples alike – indeed, anyone looking for clean, affordable accommodation. " - Mark Chipperfield

had a fantastic stay at The Lost Camel Hotel. The atmosphere was quiet and cozy, making it the perfect place to relax after a day of exploring. The location is excellent, close to everything you need around Yulara. The service was outstanding, with staff who were always friendly, welcoming, and happy to help. Dining was also a highlight—Geckos and Ayers Wok both offered delicious food that really made the stay even more enjoyable. Overall, The Lost Camel Hotel exceeded my expectations. A comfortable stay, great service, and an ideal location—I’d definitely recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

Spent 3 nights here. The room was compact but functional with space for 2 large suitcases. The bed was in the centre of the room with spacious shower and separate toilet behind. The bed was comfortable and the shower was very good with stable water temperature. There is also a small sofa, a fridge and tea and coffee making facilities. Decor in need of a refresh. The lack of a window wasn’t a problem for us as no insects can fly in. However, moths can crawl under the door and enter the room as they did during our stay. These creatures are harmless and tend to remain still in the same place for a long time. The swimming pool looked clean but we didn’t use it. Overall we were satisfied with our accommodation.

We do enjoyed the big room, super bedankt and pillows and convenience to centre of town. The pool facilities are also great. Yulara itself is a quaint little resort town. So sorry we only had two nights.

We were originally placed in a dark room, only windows frosted, in the toilet/shower area. ||We asked if it were possible to move us to a different room, and they obliged: Moving us to a comfortable room on the second floor with a balcony. Much, much nicer, and greatly appreciated. ||Not sure why people complain about no restaurant. Sails in the Desert is a five minute walk with nice buffets and sandwiches.

Had a great time staying at the Lost Camel. Well located near the town the square of the resort. Clean and comfortable. Only minor things that prevented a 5 star review and that is that our room didn't have a window as such because the windows were in the bathroom, just seems like odd design more than anything but made the room less pleasant to spend time in. And the other minor issue was that our room service was missed one day. All that said the resort as a whole is well run, albeit showing its age a little here and there, and of course the surrounding attractions are second to none!

Hotel is centrally located and staff was friendly and helpful, however the rooms are dated. Our room did not have and windows you could look out of. The only windows were in the bathrooms and were frosted. Room was dark and hotel was noisy. You could hear doors open and close and people walking down the halls. Rooms can use an overhaul. Old carpet and tile.

Overall we were okay with the room. It is not a five star hotel by any means, but it comfortable enough for a night or two. If you are planning a longer visit, I might consider staying elsewhere. For us, it fit into our budget so we could splurge on eating at some of the nicer restaurants in the resort and enjoying a couple of expensive excursions. We also purchased the option of breakfast next door at Sails in the Desert which we thought was good value for money. However there are other places in the resort where you could go and have breakfast on your own. The air-conditioner in the room seemed a bit temperamental and would turn on and off based on some random thermostat setting. ||Note: We particularly enjoyed the free resort activities that were provided such as the Bush Yarns, The Guided Garden Walk, the Didgeridoo workshop and the Gallery Tour.

We stayed here for 3 nights on a trip to visit Uluru and Kata Tjuta. Our room was comfortable and clean, great to relax after a day out visiting the nearby park. |As the hotel itself mentions, there are no direct windows - however, our room was not dark as other reviews mention and it was definitly good enough. |To those reviewers complaining about the fact the rooms may not be ideal to spend time in: you are not supposed to spend a lot of time in a hotel room when you're visiting Uluru, so what is your point? go and stay in a resort in Florida or something or maybe stay at the Sails in the Desert if you can afford it :-). |There are several food options within the Ayers Rock resort, which we found adequate overall. |Staff were very friendly and helpful, which made our arrival and checkout pleasant.
