The Love Apple

My partner and I recently celebrated our anniversary and went to Taos, New Mexico to check it out as we had never been. This was a must stop recommended by many people so we were happy to secure a reservation and dine there. Ambiance was nice, we enjoyed the warm lighting and how it was inside an old historic catholic church. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable as well. I will say- the food was decent but it was nothing extravagant or to write home about like others have mentioned in the past. A lot of items on the menu have like one or two ingredients that I feel throw the dish off, so it was difficult deciding what to get there. We ordered the cornbread, mussels, the trout and the bison when we went for dinner. By far my biggest complaint with the whole experience was the fact that it is a cash only establishment, with no ATM even available on the property. You have to drive beforehand to the closest Allsups and withdraw whatever you feel will be the most for the check plus gratuity. This really limits what you can/can't get on the menu depending on how much cash you bring. I personally do not enjoy feeling limited by that or having to do math at the table in my head to make sure I got enough to cover it all. This also makes people look at the menu beforehand maybe online to get a good idea before driving to said gas station. They say on the website it's because "By forgoing transaction fees, we can better support our employees, serve organic food, and boost our local economy." but in reality I believe it's because they do not want to pay credit card fees and whatnot. Their sister restaurant Manzanita (which we also dined at) was not cash only though which was odd if they are related, so something isn't lining up at The Love Apple. We still had the best time with each others company which matters the most celebrating a special occasion, but I'm not sure I'd go out of my way to tell everyone that they gotta go there when they are in Taos.

The Love Apple was such a warm, intimate, cozy experience overall. It felt like we were dining inside someone’s home, and we were instantly transported into a mellow and inviting space. Candlelit dinner and only warm lights. Food was incredible - we started with the endives/leeks and seasonal special mussels. The mussels were amongst the best we’ve had - juicy, plump, smooth. Now, let me get to the main course - the bison steak with red chile au gratin poh-tay-toes was something truly extraordinary. These potatoes were noteworthy, nay - shout from the heavens-above good! The bison steak - perfectly cooked. The lamb chops, succulently tender and exquisite - atop a cool light cheese and caramelized cabbage. Not to mention the dessert - we had the special NY cherry cheesecake and the raspberry tart. We did not speak to one another for several minutes. Chef Jenny is. a. goddess. We will be back.

What a gem! We were visiting Taos and decided to try this restaurant for dinner. Luckily we were able to get a reservation. In the dark, very hard to find. But once you find it, the ambience of the restaurant is beautiful and inviting. Service is attentive and prompt. Food was out standing, especially sea bass. A must try. For appetizers, We had the corn bread, which the restaurant is known for, and grilled mushroom - savory and well flavored. Our second entree was the duck dish with mole. The duck was well cooked and prepared. Overall, we were very pleased with our experience and time at the Love Apple.

If you're visiting from out of town, do yourself a favor and have dinner here. Warm atmosphere with friendly staff. The cocktails were excellent and tasted so incredibly fresh. I had the bacon-wrapped dates, quinoa-stuffed quail, and dessert, I wanted to eat every bite despite being absolutely stuffed. One of the best meals I've had while traveling. Cash only, I had an appetizer, two cocktails, entree, and a dessert for around $100. Would recommend and definitely go back.

Love the ambience of this re-purposed old church! Each dish is thoughtfully crafted, though the excellent starter of grilled endives and leeks with a caper vinaigrette, bacon, parmesan, and a fried egg was the best for me. Have to have the super soft corn muffins as well, and the delicious pinon tart.

I'll keep it simple. If you're in the area, go to the Love Apple. The food and atmosphere is amazing. I've taken people who described their food as some of the best they've even had and their not exaggerating. It's a smaller restaurant, so get a reservation early. Everything on the menu is good, but I would recommend the cornbread, gnocchi, and spaghetti squash in particular.

What a charming, lovely, fine dining experience! This restaurant has taken the fine dining to a different level with their unique combination of fresh and locally sourced ingredients. So satisfying! The decor, the mood, the lighting, and the music made this a perfect location to celebrate a special night. Our waiter patiently assisted us choosing the meals that suits our appetite being vegetarian. We shared Seasonal fruit, local greens, pecans and warm goat cheese salad followed by Love Apple Tacos (vegetarian) and a tasty dessert. I'd LOVE to be back here again one day.

We had an excellent meal at the Love Apple, one of our favorites in town. The food is interesting and the setting is atmospheric and beautiful in an old Adobe church. We started with the blue cheese, caramelized onion and apple quesadilla and cornbread muffins - the blue corn was earthy and delicious, as was peach butter. In contrast, the raw beet salad was not a hit with the table - a bit too plain and earthy. We also thoroughly enjoyed the seed and nut encrusted seabass with bok choy and cherry compute, grilled ruby red trout with quinoa - piñon fritter, and Swiss cheese polenta with oyster mushrooms. All were excellent, very interesting and flavorful food. Drinks were also good and a good pairing - memorable ones were the take on a margarita and on a Negroni.

Nice ambiance, but the food fell short. We chose this place as it was recommended by NM locals. The patio was nice, with fresh flowers and even privacy screens between some of the tables. I would give 5 stars to the ambiance. The food was just okay. The mixed greens in the salad were not fresh. I had to separate a few stale leaves. We all know this is quite common in mixed greens from a grocery bag, but I didn't expect to see it at a fancy restaurant like them. The mushroom appetizer and the taco main dish were both too greasy; see the spicy oil dripping from the food and pooling in the plate. Their wine list was super expensive, and most notable of all, this place is ALL CASH. So, for a table of four who orders wine, you'll need $300-400 in your pocket.

Just loved this place. The food is excellent and a good value. The service unassuming and pitch perfect, and it was quietly romantic. Recommended

Great atmosphere and the food was artful. Staff is excellent. Many gluten-free choices. Overall, good for a night out.

More than fabulous - don't hesitate to go to this innovative spectacular restaurant. Don't forget cash only!

Amazing all around. Lovely restaurant fantastic host and server team. We split the corn bread muffins with the delicious butters and split the beet salad. I had the gnocchi and the pesto was so flavorful as were the perfectly cooked gnocchi. My husband has the trout and loved every bite. Great wine list. I had a sparkling rose from Spain. So good. What a gem not far from downtown Taos. Very casual vibe.

We sat outside and the ambience was wonderful, the service delightful and the food was very good. My friend had a salad and tortilla soup that she thought was very good...and I ate like a piggy w soup, salad and the buffalo special. It was flavorful but gristly and not what Id consider prime at all. . Apple crisp was too sweet to me. Id try it out another try some time but would probably ask the server their favorites.

Beautiful spot with friendly service. Very cool just to be in the restaurant. Food was good. We weren't blown away but we'd order differently next time. Definitely a spot to hit in Taos. (We liked their little sister, Manzanita Market even more! Perhaps better bang for your buck?)

Outstanding dinner food for the two of us. Worth reading and following the rules for getting a reservation. FOOD: 5.0. Every dish was outstanding and exceeded high expectations. - TROUT PATÉ with FENNEL appetizer. - SEA BASS. My food-fussy partner declared it the best Sea Bass she has ever had. - DUCK BREAST. Yum! - PINON dessert with créme. So good, including the crust. The créme was clearly housemade. SERVICE: 5.0. Rigo did an excellent job, providing spot-on advice and exhibiting good timing. AMBIANCE: 4.5. We sat inside. It was pleasant, with perfect-low-volume background music inside older building. DRINKS: 4.5. We enjoyed our drinks. Standouts were the Pinot Noir (from S. America) and Muscatel.

The Love Apple is the perfect place for a date or a girls night out. My best friend and I happened to find this place while planning our recent vacation to New Mexico and this place was a must try! By some miracle we got a table due to a last minute cancellation and took full advantage of this delightful experience. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by formal yet friendly staff. We enjoyed wine paired with a cheesy quesadilla to start. This quesadilla was filled with the finest cheeses and paired with an orange crème fraiche. For dinner we enjoyed seared duck breast and a fish. Everything was fresh and made with love. I highly recommend checking this place out while you're in town! Make sure to call ahead to book your reservation in advance!

I still haven't been back to the Love Apple but I recommend it all the time because it's still in business - and since my review 12 years ago, the Love Apple outlasted that romance - and the next handful too, haha! So they're doing something right - here's to you Love Apple, keep that flame burning

The Love Apple is the perfect spot for a special night out. The restaurant is located in a former chapel known as La Capilla de Nuestra Senora de Dolores, Ranchos de Taos and as the Chapel at Placita de Taos. The structure was built in the 1800s and in operation for about 100 years. (Google "Church, Placita de Taos, New Mexico 1940" for a photo of the structure by Eliot Porter in the New Mexico Museum of Art.) Consistent with the restaurant's physical space's history, the courtyard and dining room have a lot of character and are beautifully decorated with unique touches and lots of attention to detail. During our visit on a weeknight in May, most of the indoor tables filled up shortly after opening. Service is friendly, professional and extremely efficient with multiple staff assisting each table. The dishes are creative and tasty. The seed- and nut-encrusted sea bass is my new favorite. Each course was prepared and delivered surprisingly quickly, yet without rushing the meal. A few tips to help your dinner go smoothly: The Love Apple's hours are Wednesday through Sunday, 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. The Love Apple accepts cash and checks only. If you are paying with a personal check, make sure that your phone number is included. Since The Love Apple is an intimate 13-table restaurant, reservations are recommended. To make a reservation, call the restaurant. Reservations are available in two-week blocks: the current Monday through Sunday week and the following Monday through Sunday week. If you leave a message, be sure to leave your name, the number of people in your party, the time(s) that you are interested in and a clear phone number. In a vacation week full of fun, memorable and new experiences, dinner at The Love Apple stands out as a highlight, a spot worth including in a visit if you are in northern New Mexico.

We went there a couple of years ago and raved about the meal and of course the ambiance., as it is such l a lovely and unique historical setting. Had reservations for last night after finding a spot over a week ago, so we looked forward to our celebration there. Unfortunately both entrees were least to say, disappointing. The sea bass was souped in sauce and not to the standard of a quality piece of fish and my husband's duck was how can I say horrible as it was souped in sauce to possibly cover up the quality of the duck. I am sad to say this is not a place I would recommend. I would love for the chefs to understand that meat and fish recipes should start with the quality of the product, no matter if it is considered "French". I do hope this lovely place survives but not up to the standards it sets. Raise to bar Love Apple!

The food here was great as was the atmosphere and the service! It came highly recommended and we agreed with the assessment. We went for a birthday celebration and were very happy with everything. It is cash only and you need to make reservations so be prepared.

My favorite restaurant in Taos! I love celebrating special occasions at this upscale restaurant! Make reservations in advance if you'd like to experience their culinary delights! In addition to the food, the service is also top notch! Lastly, their decor is so fabulous. Everything is decorated in white and cream . I love it so much that I've been renovating and decorating my home in the style of Love Apple!

We missed The Love Apple on our trip to Taos last year, so we're really glad that we were able to go with our friends this year for our sole meal out. It's fantastic. It's New Mexico, so, you know, everything is Land of Mañana style while you wait wait wait to make a reservation, be greeted, be seated, etc. It's a vibe, and once you're used to it, just enjoy the ride. You enter through a kitchen (yes) and a sheet/blanket (yes) and then it's all string lights and airiness and like you stepped into a Goop photoshoot. Charmed? Yes, we were. Love the two cocktails that we started with: riffs on a Negroni and a Manhattan. Simply wonderful. For starters, our table shared the corn bread, mushroom quesadilla, and warm spinach salad, all excellent. The blue corn bread basically tastes like a tortilla chip in muffin form--so good. The quesadilla was solid and we loved the dressing on the salad, which really hit the spot for greens. For dinner, we shared the tortilla soup and the polenta bolognese. The soup was out of this world--so packed with flavor--but the bolognese was disappointing. It did not taste like it had been simmering for long, and the meat was still in huge chunks, and overall, just not as high quality as everything else we had eaten. Our daughter got a very impressive kid's gnocchi that were borderline dumplings and she loved them. We would have likely landed on five stars had our dessert not been a disaster, which it unfortunately was. We got their special, the caramel mousse with a piñon brittle and everything about it was terrible. The mousse was barely cold and had almost no flavor--basically just whipped cream. The piñon brittle was overcooked and tasted like burnt nuts. Ugh, we were so upset because we had mostly loved everything else about the meal, and this was a huge final note to end on. We did try a taste of our pals' apple crisp, and that was great, as was our kiddo's pineapple sorbet, so we probably chose wrong, but still. Other that the bolognese and the caramel mousse, we did have such a positive experience here that we are landing on four stars. Most of the food was impressive, the service was friendly (expect that NM pace!), and the ambience was enchanting. Four stars, and hopefully one day we'll be back again to give it five.

We had reservations for 545 on the patio. Unfortunately we were in and rushed out in 50 minutes. After our appetizer, the waitress asked for our order. We said we would like to enjoy our drinks first.... And was told chef wanted all orders now. Our salad came before we were done with the muffins and our entree right after. We were not offered dessert. My husband asked for a light beer and got a dark, Guinness like stout. My service dog was questioned, which happens. The hostess explained that there was a strict "no dog" policy. And then sat a Puppy directly across from us ?!! Flies. Yes we're were on the patio, but the number of flies that we had to keep shooing off our food... was crazy. And our sea bass, which is usually a slightly sweet, buttery taste, tasted more like grouper. Just super disappointed.

True, there are very few decent choices for a "dining experience" in Taos. So this place is one of very few options. The food was reasonably good. The portions are small, the prices are enormous, for what they serve. It's a place with a false sense of casual because they are so full of themselves that it reeks of self-centered privilege. I'll stick to a good taco when I'm in Taos next time rather than putting up with such pretense and expense. They are a cash only restaurant stating that they're keeping the money local. Ok, lap that up if you need to convince yourself that you're doing the world a favor by eating there.

So glad this was a foodie recommendation to us for our recent visit to Taos. We enjoyed a lovely dinner at this magically decorated place. First off, the staff were amazing and very attentive. The food was fantastic from the cornbread to the salad to the Gnocchi and Sea bass ending with apple crisp. We had a couple cocktails as well that were very good. The whole experience was GREAT and I would recommend this gem to anyone visiting the area!

This was my second best restaurant while visiting my buddy in Taos over the weekend. Very nice place, simple but warm ambiance Service is perfect, food reassuredly modern American. Had the encrusted seabass and some greens - very good. I would definitely return to explore more dishes. Probably one of the most creative restaurants in the area.

The whole reservation process made our visit difficult. I called 10 days in advance and left a message. And waited. And waited. 6 days later, my husband called them and received a call back - stating they had "tried" to call me. Nope. And she had a real attitude. Bottom line: we had dinner there with friends and none of us thought it was anything special. The gnocchi was not light and the trout was overdone and dry. No one was friendly upon our arrival. Our waitperson was outstanding, however. She was friendly, and made great drink suggestions. She was a bright spot. This is not our first visit to Taos. We come to Taos about 2X a year. We look forward to the food. I don't know if Love Apple is struggling since Covid, but it certainly isn't worth the reviews I've read in the past. It didn't live up to anything we had heard.

Vegans: avoid. In 30 years of being plant based vegan, i have never had a waitress tell me they're too busy to accommodate me....until Love Apple. To say their menu options were limited is an understatement. The waitress recommended we eat radishes. She seemed fine with two people coming all the way to the restaurant and dining on just radishes. When asked if they cook make some of their entrees vegan (which should've been an easy ask), she told us no and that they ate too busy to accommodate us. I looked around at all the empty tables in astonishment. Needless to say, we promptly left and will never return. Before this, we had made reservations ahead of time to be seated at 7pm. Note: to make reservations one must leave a voicemail in hopes of having their call returned. They claim if the call isn't returned, it means they are too busy. No human being will speak with you- they're "too busy" apparently. When we arrived for our reservation, we had to wait well past the time of our reservation in a very tiny room that felt more like a closet, along with other very patient patrons awaiting their tables. I listened as each party was given a reason why their table wasn't ready on time. We eventually opted for indoor seating instead of the reserved outdoor table just because we didn't want to wait another hour. The entire restaurant staff seemed to believe they were extremely busy, yet we saw empty tables all over. I've waited tables in years past and I know what busy is- this was NOT busy. The ambience seemed forced and contrived. They played the typical music you'd expect in an establishment that wanted to appear stylish- nothing creative. The walls contained uninspiring framed copies of photos, such as a messy bed sheets (they liked it so much they had one large copy in the dining room and a smaller copy in the closet sized holding tank). The first time we attempted to visit this restaurant, we were staying across the alley from it in a bed & breakfast, just steps from it- yet they claimed they were too busy to accept a reservation or a walk in. We noticed the parking lot was not full and it did not seem busy. We ended up driving back another night from somewhere else, only to walk out disappointed and hungry. I'd recommend finding a more healthy and authentic place that doesn't try to present itself as hip or dynamic, which this place is neither.

The dining room is such a beautiful and peaceful room! Wine is stored everywhere which was fun as we could just look behind us to explore the wine list. Service was wonderful- quick and friendly. The food was outstanding. We had the trout pate, cornbread, citrus and greens salad, quail, branzino, and a side do the special mushrooms. Then the flan for dessert! If only we lived closer we would return very often as it was truly a wonderful experience all around!!

We have family visiting from out of town and they wanted to try The Love Apple because of the James Beard award nominations. Wow!! The food is amazing. I had the sea bass and it was delicious. Very light and flaky and the flavors were awesome. Family enjoyed the special Bison ribeye, the trout and the tamale. Absolutely amazing. We sat on the patio and it was great. A beautiful evening out with family in Taos. We couldn't have asked for a better place. The ladies serving us were very nice and helpful. We asked for water and they made sure we didn't run out. I had a wonderful time.

It's a pretty restaurant. Great lighting and ambiance in the main room. There's a certain amount of hipster arrogance that's annoying from the people that work there. Service is very slow and servers are indifferent and a little unfriendly or maybe just tired and wish they were at home thinking about butterflies and zebras and moonbeams. The duck was good, but I couldn't figure out the rest of the menu. Wine list was very expensive and ill suited for the menu. The worst, the absolute worst is NO CREDIT CARDS! Somehow in this day and age you're supposed to have over $300 cash in your pocket or else get in your car and drive and find a ATM. What a joy! What a buzz kill. The manager said the owner didn't like paying the 2% credit card fee, so she would rather see her patrons jump in their cars and run to the Allsups down the street with hopes of getting some cash so she can save her 2% fee. No Love from this Apple.

I recommend a reservation for this popular place. We've only been able to sit outside, so the ambiance inside is still an unknown to us. The seasoned butter and cornbread are excellent, a must item. Their carrots are some of the best I've ever eaten. Any restaurant that can prepare exceptional carrots and bread is one I hold close to my heart and stomach. We travel to Taos every year or two and always try to eat here.

I visited on the Saturday before Memorial Day (5/25/24) and had yet another incredible experience. This was my 4th time dining here and first time eating on the patio which is super cute and cozy (there are heat lamps you can control at each table and blankets available which are a nice touch). Once again, every dish we had was fantastic! First, let me say that you MUST try the posole - it's delicious and the escabeche and fresh tortilla it's served with put this dish over the top. If I had a private plane, I would travel here for the posole, lol! We also had chicken tortilla soup, polenta w/ local oyster mushrooms, nut & seed encrusted sea bass, and flan with almond brittle for dessert which was to die for. This continues to be one of my favorite restaurants in the U.S. thanks to delicious menu which incorporates local product when possible, quaint atmosphere and stellar service. People complaining about the cash only and telephone reservation system are silly. While it may not be the most convenient/modern, it's how they have chosen to do things and it clearly works for them given how busy they are and how many repeat customers they have. This is a must visit if you're in/near Taos!

Left Santa Fe for a road trip to Taos, New Mexico today. Dining and exploring a city we had not been to in 20+ years was the agenda. We searched for dining options and kept getting directed to Love Apple. It is located outside the city in a cute house with inside and outside dining in a beautiful setting. The setup here is stunning and very intimate while prices are reasonable. The decor and setup is great and very inviting. Giving their patrons an easy opportunity to get reservations was a nightmare. They don't answer their phone, you can't book on Open Table and they REFUSE CREDIT CARD PAYMENT. In today's economy, they only take cash and personal checks. NUTS! I guess it makes it easier to avoid taxes. The attitude here is summed up in one word: PRETENTIOUS. We arrived at 5:00, when they opened and was told that they were completely booked and would not be able to serve us. The hostess stated that if someone failed their reservation (how did they get reservations?), that she might be able to slide us in and they only accepted cash or checks. A gentleman behind us stated he had to come in person for a reservation two night ahead because no one answered the phone. At 5:15, 3 tables were seated with 20+ tables were completely vacant. We were finally seated. We ordered two cornbread muffins with flavored butter, roasted carrots with lavender honey, beet salad, and two tacos (chicken and pulled beef) with coconut creamed corn. The ambience was great, nice lighting and a pleasant setting. Presentation was spot on. The corn muffins lacked any real flavor. Our carrot presentation was beautiful. The carrots were not peeled and nicely roasted. It was not till we started eating them that we both noticed grains of dirt with each bite. The beet salad served on a beet puree with toasted bread was a home run. The beets contained a unique flavor and we could of ordered a second dish. The tacos were stuffed with chicken and beef and a orange slaw / crema fraiche topping. The chicken pieces were huge and again, lacked flavor. It was to much meat for the tortilla. The pulled braised beef had nice flavor and hit the spot. For the hype and reviews they have on the internet, I was not impressed and would not recommend. As we left, I glanced around the restaurant counting at least 15 empty tables. I understand it is a management issue to spread out patrons for the dinner service to work and not flood the kitchen. The attitude is what killed me and arrogance when serving the public. In today's economy, having patrons wanting to make reservations is a blessing. You need to be more accommodating and appreciative. I realize some organization make dining options difficult hoping to create exclusively with their business. You catch more bees with honey than vinegar.

What a gem in Taos. This place is very quaint. The one thing I love is that you feel like you're tucked away in a private little space. The service is great. Pro-tip: cash only. you can park on site.

We love this place! Every time we visit Taos, we eat here at least once. The service is amazing and the food is great; very unique dishes with fresh ingredients. Oh yes, the cocktails are delicious! A must visit location.

A little disappointed in this restaurant as we'd seen it had great reviews. We came to Angel Fire last year and saw this place and wanted to eat dinner there but they would not take walking and said we'd have to make a reservation. They'd offered us a 10pm dinner time the next night...(way too late), so we ordered to go and went back to our condo to eat. Food was good! This year I made a reservation 3 weeks prior. 2 separate employees called me to "make the reservation", on separate dates as if I hadn't spoken to the previous employee... making me worry my reservation wouldn't even exist when we got in. We showed up to our reservation 6 minutes early... we were not seated until 26 minutes AFTER our reservation. No apologies either. We didn't get dinner until 8:35 when our reservation was at 7:45. Slightly disappointed in the seasonal menu as well; but my boyfriend got Bison and said it was good. The service was just meh, timeliness isn't their forte, and the options for food were limited and unlike their usual menu. Be sure to call and ask about what their menu will be ahead of time. Also; make sure you plan accordingly to not being sat promptly. Hoped for a great experience here and was let down. We drove 45 min to eat here as well. Probably won't revisit next year.

The food, service and ambiance exceeded expectations. Definitely worth checking out, you won't be disappointed.

Our second time coming. We got off the plane from Georgia and drove straight here so that should tell you how good. Delicious food. Great service and wonderful cocktails. A real treat!

It's good but the prices are a little outrageous. Fun experience but I'll choose other options in the future when dining out in Taos. Both my partner and I agreed that we don't regret this visit to Love Apple but there was nothing that made us think we'd go back in the future.

Had dinner here tonight and it was delish! We had tacos, salad, lamb chop meatballs, following it up with 3 desserts from peach cobbler to sorbet and chocolate challah and all were really, really good! We're so glad we made reservations a few days ahead of time because the place was packed and the only time they had available was a 6pm dinner, which is early for us but well worth it! The one very weird thing about this restaurant, which we found out ahead of time, is that they don't take credit cards, either cash or a check. Fortunately we found out ahead of time and came prepared, but well worth it. The only disappointment was that they don't serve alcohol except wine, so two of settled for an Arnold Palmer. The service was good, but it was obvious our server had too many tables, which is probably due to COVID. We recommend this restaurant, the best we've eaten at so far on our New Mexico vacation.

While traveling, I take high reviews with a grain of salt. But The Love Apple lived up to all expectations. There was a purposeful slow pace (but not too slow) to make you feel welcomed. While everything we ordered was delicious, the mushrooms were the surprising standout. I'll be thinking of that dish for awhile. The ambiance and music were A+. And our waiter was the perfect guide, leading us to all the right choices - down to the finale (flan). This will now forever be a must destination while in the area. Tips: As people have mentioned, make reservations two weeks ahead. If the phone is busy, don't worry, it will eventually free up and you can leave a message with your reservation request if no one picks up. Don't forget to bring cash $ or check!

There is a reason you **need a reservation well in advance** for this restaurant. It is simply wonderful. In true (and bizarre, but it's why we love it?) Taos tradition, this is yet another local establishment that requires a trip to the ATM (Cash only). But this spot is worth the extra trouble and more. Bring enough cash to indulge in everything - a drink, an appetizer, an entrée, AND dessert. Don't skip a single course! At night, this restaurant was magical. A remodeled white adobe church, decked in twinkle lights and patio drapery is the atmosphere. Candle light and the perfect combination of refurbished and modern. The waitstaff is incredibly friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. The food is everything you are hoping it will be.

The Love Apple has become a staple for quality food and intimate ambiance in Taos, NM. The restaurant is inside of a small renovated church and has a warm and cozy vibe without being cramped. The food at Love Apple never disappoints. I had the gnocchi as my main dish and did manage to take a photo of the delicious cornbread with the medley of butters. Our servers were very attentive and kind. This kindness added to the positive experience, and gave my group the assurance we would gladly come back. I remember not having enough room for dessert this night, so I may have to go back in to update the post with a sweet item.

A very lackluster experience and probably our least favorite meal in Taos. Our waitress was perfectly kind and nice but there was a pretentious vibe in the restaurant. We had called to see if our table could be moved indoors since it was cold and were met with a very firm "no" but once we got there there were tables available indoors. Also, they're cash only which is incredibly limiting to the public, especially when you don't provide an ATM. The food was very mediocre and the menu was extremely limited. We were given an option of 4 entrees. The gnocchi was boring to me and my partners trout was just basic with no flavor or anything exciting. It is pretty affordable which is nice but I wish we went to medley or aji instead. We did love ACEQ and highly recommend that restaurant too.

Everything was great here, the food the service and the ambiance. We also had the best margarita in the rock that I ever tasted.

Another big hit! Hubby and I chose our restaurants on the fly while vacationing in Taos - and we were knocking it out of the park with our picks. The Love Apple is a fantastic restaurant with great ambiance, great service and ever greater food. We started with the blue and yellow corn muffins with plum butter and a lemon dill butter. These were very good! The butters may rotate, I don't know, but I enjoyed the flavors of both very much. Next up was the caramelized onion and apple quesadilla with blue cheese dip. I really liked this! No flavor was overpowering; it was nicely balanced and easy to eat. The cilantro crème fraiche accompaniment was very yum! For entrees, my husband chose the lamb meatballs, which were absolutely fabulous! Served with a tamarind sauce that was to die for. He ordered correctly, let's just say. A fantastic dish. I opted for the potato gnocchi with sweet carrot butter sauce and ricotta. This was a nice portion size - just right, not overboard. The whole dish had warm and cozy vibes. Really enjoyed it. And the gnocchi was homemade. Bonus! Overall, a wonderful experience. Would 100% recommend The Love Apple to anyone. The menu had lots of lovely sounding things. One of the best in Taos!

Heard about this place while on a different trip a few weeks ago. Said it was good years ago but we thought we'd give it a try. The place was cute inside with fresh cut flowers on the tables. We ordered a couple of manhattans and the oyster mushrooms/lions mane app and the cornbread to start. I wasn't a fan of my manhattan but my wife enjoyed hers. I think it was the homemade rosemary syrup that I didn't like. I'm not slamming the drink, just not my favorite. I had the warm spinach salad that was incredible. My wife's salad was equally impressive. For our main course, my wife ordered avacado tacos and I had the polenta bolognese. The polenta was served as a pie slice with the bolognese on top. Never seen polenta served this way but you better believe I will be trying to make this when I get home. The entire meal was excellent. Our waitress was excellent and knowledgeable on the menu. The only downside I can say is some waitstaff was slammed and you could feel their anxiety. Didn't affect my meal or service but noticeable even though we had a few cocktails. I would highly recommend this restaurant and if back in town, I would definitely come back

We were fortunate to get last minute reservations on a Sunday night at this restaurant that had received fantastic reviews. We were served a fabulous non alcohol apple cider drink spiked with cardamom and red chilli syrup. This was creativity with its existing bar resources. The drinks were fabulous and complemented the dinner. We started with the oyster mushroom with Beelers bacon and egg appetizer. All of the ingredients were perfectly done! For dinner, we had the polenta bolognese and the fresh trout. We appreciated the locally sourced ingredients, creativity of the chef and the skillful preparation. The service is superb. This says much when you consider the kitchen size. Bravo!

A little disappointed with the trout. Very little was done in preparation so it was not very exciting. Mushroom pate and butternut soup were very good but not quite on the mark. The ambience is beautiful but they need to step up the flavors.
