The 37 Best Restaurants in St. Louis, Missouri | Eater

"At first the Lucky Accomplice felt like it was primarily going to be a platform for chef Logan Ely to stretch his wings a bit after his cerebral tasting menu spot, Shift. It turned out to be much more of a team effort. Partner Brian Schuman soon established Lucky’s reputation for smart and warm service, while beverage director Corey Moszer put together a creative, prolific cocktail program. Ely also teamed up with chef Justin Bell to craft a menu of bold dishes, including an oversized toasted raviolo, alongside brunch crumpet sandwiches and fun potato rosti." - Holly Fann

The 32 Essential St. Louis Restaurants

"Luckily for the rest of the city, residents of the Fox Park neighborhood could not keep one of their very best restaurants a secret to hoard for themselves. Shortly after business partners Brian Schuman and chef Logan Ely opened the Lucky Accomplice, word began to spread that diners should seek out the warehouse storefront with a neon sign of a bounding rabbit glowing in the front window. Ely’s first restaurant, Shift, established him as an adroit and sometimes cerebral chef. For his sophomore outing, he’s serving dishes that are beautiful, dynamic, and a bit sly. Take the everything tater tot, an aesthetic combination of cured salmon, cream cheese, fresh dill, and assorted seeds sitting on a little stage of shredded potatoes that’s tender on the inside and unduly crunchy on the outside. The playful feeling is echoed in the clever, eclectic space and the relaxed, gracious service. Lucky recently began offering a wildly popular weekend brunch which, like their dinner service, is not to be missed." - Holly Fann

The outside area might leave you questioning if you’re in the right place. But don’t let that deter you! The atmosphere, the food and service are all amazing! Their tasting menu was absolutely delicious and perfectly portioned for us. At first I thought the food wouldn’t be enough but by the 7th course, we were full. Highly recommend for a nice date night!

Incredible meal and amazing cocktails! The chef’s tasting menu was excellent, creative, and delicious. The cocktails were so good - don’t skip out on the espresso yourself cocktail. The staff were nice, knowledge, and attentive.

We did the 10 course tasting menu, and there were some really delicious, stand out plates, but overall we didn’t leave satisfied. The dishes were incredibly tiny, and since we were trying the vegetarian tasting menu, the 2 fish dishes were switched out for a sliced tomatoe in one dish and cauliflower in the other. By the end of the meal, we were so hungry we couldn’t wait for them to bring us our check so we could go get food someplace else. We don’t tend to eat huge meals so, this was unexpected! I felt that $100 was a bit overpriced for what we got… Especially when comparing to a similar meal at Vicia or Bulrush (RIP).

I did the tasting menu without the drinks and the pork that was served was the most tender I’ve ever eaten. Beautiful colors and vibrant flavors, some of the dishes had very small portion sizes even for a tasting, however a 7 course meal for around $100 after tip I found to be a bargain. Would easily pay an extra $20-$40 for bigger portions! The lights although dim seemed to be flashing/pulsing ever so slightly.

This spot had been on my husband’s and my list for a while, and with all the positive reviews, we decided to go for a date night. Unfortunately, we left really disappointed. I don’t usually write reviews, but I feel like I should help others avoid spending $95 only to end up grabbing a pizza on the way home because we were still hungry. The portions were tiny, and nearly everything had a strange, off-putting taste that made it hard to finish some of the dishes. It wasn’t just that the food wasn’t great—some of it was genuinely unappetizing. The one bright spot was dessert, which was actually good. But overall, everything else was either just okay or kind of bad. Definitely not the dining experience we were hoping for.

Had an amazing brunch, with top notch service and delicious bites at TLA. We enjoyed both pastries and each brunch entree. The creme brûlée waffle & kielbasa were a personal favorites. Cannot wait to return for dinner with a tasting menu experience.

We were recommended by a friend to come to The Lucky Accomplice & Shift, sadly Shift closed during the pandemic. Fun Fact: The owner name the new restaurant The Lucky Accomplice and use rabbit foot as symbol as good luck, hopefully The Lucky Accomplice will thrive and have many many sister restaurants. There are so many rabbit murals inside the restaurant. My friend is right, everything we ordered was delicious. Our server is amazing, she is so attentive. We figured we were given the best seat at the restaurant not sure if it's because we made a reservation, or because it's just 5 PM. The menu changes from time to time. The ingredients the chef uses are seasonal and very fresh. The cocktail is top-notch, can't believe my cocktail is only $13.00. (I live in San Francisco & just visited Chicago.) So the cocktail is San-Francisco level good, but does not break your bank. I also ordered 0 proof cocktails, to be honest with you, I just feel like I am drinking the real cocktail, it's just that good. The vibe is awesome. The decor is amazing. And can I emphasize again, we love our server. Perfect in every way.

The drinks and vibe were both great, and the service was excellent—friendly and attentive throughout the night. We tried the $95 tasting menu with 10 courses, and while it was a fun experience overall, the food didn’t quite hit the mark for us. A few dishes leaned too salty or lacked depth in flavor, and the fish was a bit more pungent than expected. We left feeling a bit hungry but definitely enjoyed the cocktails. With a few tweaks to the menu, this place could be a real gem.

Yelp
As someone who enjoys high-end dining (and the occasional splurge in the name of "culinary adventure"), I was genuinely excited to try Savage & The Accomplice. A tasting menu experience in St. Louis? Count me in. Unfortunately, while the concept had all the ingredients for a memorable night, the execution left me a bit... underfed and underwhelmed. Let's start with the positives: the plating was beautiful, the service was sharp (when you're serving 10 courses in 2 hours, efficiency is a must), and the ambiance almost worked. The lighting was moody, the space was stylish--but then came the music. Picture a $300 dining experience paired with a soundtrack that swung from classic rock to rap. Bold choice. Personally, I was hoping for something a little more cohesive. Speaking of the food, while I appreciated the creativity and there were certainly a few hits, not every dish landed for me. And yes, I know portion sizes are meant to be small at these kinds of places--but we left and immediately found ourselves stopping for food on the way home. My wife and I were seated along a bench next to other guests, which made for a "cozy" experience--if by cozy you mean brushing elbows with strangers and having our neighbors chime in mid-meal (thank you, cocktail courage). I was hoping for a more intimate setting, not dinner theater with surprise audience participation. I really wanted to love this place. I'm thrilled that St. Louis has restaurants like this pushing boundaries, but for $300+, I expected a bit more. Glad I tried it once. Probably won't be back.

Yelp
Savage and the Accomplice by Logan Ely is a gift to St. Louis. After its highly anticipated return, this restaurant has once again redefined the culinary scene with its impeccable 10-course tasting menu. Logan Ely's vision, talent and creativity are clear in every dish. The menu is an artful exploration of seasonal, local ingredients. Each course from the warm mushroom broth infused with armagnac and lapsang tea to the sweet finale of brown butter cake with hay-smoked oat milk was perfectly executed and a perfect amount of food. Highlights for me were the cod and the hamachi #stlouispescatarianapproved The pacing of the 10 courses was flawless, allowing each dish to stand out while maintaining a cohesive narrative throughout the meal. St. Louis is so lucky to have a place like this concept back on the scene.

Yelp
I'd give this a 4.5 if I could. I'm quite surprised as to why there aren't more reviews for this place, but it seems like it replaced The Lucky Accomplice recently so I assume people aren't super aware of it yet. We dined here for the 10 course tasting menu (which is about $100 per person), and one of us got a beverage pairing to go with it. The menu changes, and I don't want to give too much away, but I'll say that if you are considering coming here, you definitely should. For a 10 course meal, the price is EXTREMELY reasonable. Each plate was unique, fresh, and beautifully presented. We actually didn't end up having any meat besides fish, which was something I haven't had too often at a tasting menu. Some standout dishes were a rich yet fluffy and umami mushroom soup, an exquisitely cooked white fish with fresh accompaniments, and their delicious desserts. However, the dishes are VERY small, moreso than even many other tasting menus I've been to. Keep that in mind. You won't leave overly full, that's for sure. The beverage pairing, though, is actually on the opposite end of the spectrum: extremely generous. You might not want to drive after it, but you'll be getting your money's worth. I tried their beet cocktail which also had some sort of blue cheese addition in it, and I thought it was such a unique and fun spin on a cocktail. It was kind of bitter but the mousse on top and the tartness of the dill, beet, and blue cheese was exciting. Overall, I'd definitely suggest you come here and try it. Some of the best food I've had in St. Louis, for sure.
