"Long-time island favorite Lucky Rooster is a Southern-inspired American bistro with executive chef David Landrigan’s creative takes on standards, plus a lively bar scene where interesting cocktails and lots of locals are in the mix. Dinner dishes like the skillet-roasted chicken breast, venison meatloaf, and steak frites, featuring duck fat fries, remain menu favorites, as do the separate lunch and brunch offerings from Friday to Sunday, like grilled fresh fish banh mi and Buffalo chicken Benedict." - Lynn and Cele Seldon

My wife and I went for a nice dinner out for the Independence Holiday and we were floored by Lucky Rooster. The collard greens will live rent free in my head for the rest of my life. I talked to the chef a gentleman named “Mike” I believe and he walked us through the “pretty simple” process of how he makes them and proceeded to explain in detail the multi-step processes he uses to make them. The passion and pride in his voice when he talked about his food was inspiring and humbling. My wife’s drink was dangerously good. She ordered a cocktail - I don’t remember the name of it, but it was phenomenal. My only caveat to this remarkable evening was that the dessert could have been a little fresher. The dish was obviously premade and frozen on the plate, but nonetheless my dinner at Lucky Rooster was one of the best meals of my life. It was the only meal I’ve had that I ever felt the need to recommend a place to the Michelin Guide

Dining at Lucky Rooster on Hilton Head Island was an absolute delight! From start to finish, the experience was fabulous. The ambiance was charming, the service was impeccable, and the food was exquisite. Each dish was bursting with flavor, showcasing the chef's creativity and skill. The attention to detail was evident in every aspect of the meal. Whether you're a food enthusiast or simply looking for a memorable dining experience, Lucky Rooster is a must-visit spot on Hilton Head Island. Highly recommended for a truly unforgettable dinner.

Google
By far the best food on Hilton Head! The ambiance was great, and the restaurant was really clean and well-designed. The service was outstanding and the menu was fantastic! They were super-accommodating getting us in and out for the show next door.

Google
4.5⭐️ Great service and good food. Super knowledgeable and kind waiter, Oz. He even called to let us know we left our credit card. Had beet salad to start with and braised short rib. Husband had fried chicken. Options are a bit heavy overall but it is southern style cooking!

Ryan Miller

Google
Had raw chicken, got sick, showed the waitress and she said oh ok. Was excited to spend my birthday dinner there from other reviews and pictures. Was highly disappointed, no flavor, food was all dry, and they were out of a lot of food. If in Hilton Head, try a different place.

Google
Knowledgeable wait staff and nice atmosphere but the best item on the menu our table had was the Skillet Biscuits. That said the Steak Tartare was a disappointment. The description reads “Creekstone Farms steak, charred jalapeño, bread & butter pickle, red onion and cilantro, over avocado. Served with chargrilled baguettes”. In reality it looked and tasted like a hamburger with no jalapeños, pickles, red onion, or cilantro. The chargrilled baguettes are chips. The short rib entree and cocktails made up for the steak tartare.

Had the pleasure to make reservations and visit the lucky rooster and it was an absolute pleasure. This review is for our server OZ! Our server need a raise ASAP. He is the hidden treasure and need to be appreciated. He made this an uncomfortable experience. He not only remembered we were celebrating an anniversary per my RSVP note but also went above and beyond checking on us. Sitting outside in restaurants sometimes you feel a little bit abandoned from the rest of the dining experience but this was not the case. Oz started out with a great introduction and acknowledged that we were celebrating. He recommended some amazing items on the menu and explained any questions that we had. If he did not know he was honest about it and came right back with the details we needed. The first dish we tried was was the chicken liver. Hands down order this. It was spectacular. There was an apple garnish and apple jam that to my surprise was the perfect combination. I mean this thing was just unbelievable. We also shared oyster’s. They were fresh and good. We tried the stuffed salmon it was also good. The Banh mi sandwich with red snapper was also good. Chunk of fish inside this awesome Vietnamese sandwich was something I never thought would work well but it exceeded our expectations. Now for the most important part the cocktails! We had some sangria’s to battle the heat and it was just what we needed. Oz thank you so much for an understanding experience! Looking for a place to dine be sure to check them out and ask for OZ. They do accept reservations so skip the line.

What a foodie gem amongst 100s of touristy restaurants in HHSC. We are so happy we experienced the elevated cuisine and mixology of Lucky Rooster.

Yelp
All I can say is Yum! Decor was nicely done. Inside and outside seating. Trout with capers and collard greens with fingerling potatoes. That trout was so perfectly buttered and salted and the capers were a nice touch. My family got the wagu burger and one other person got the trout with succotash. We all walked out happy! Prices are fair, little more than normal but so well done

Yelp
Having just gotten to our final destination, I fired up yelp to find a place that was open on a Sunday night nearby. I was really excited to see, what appeared to be, a trendier new restaurant serving up souther dishes in the vicinity. I must say the portions were huge (I had the braised short rib) and my wife had the seafood soup, but that was the only thing that really wowed us. The braised short rib was ok- it was a little tough and tasted more like a slow cooker pot roast, and the seafood soup entree was salted to infinity and beyond. I've never drank so much water in one sitting. Additionally, we had the biscuits and one of the three was ice cold on the inside (definitely reheated) and all were quite underwhelming. Our server apologized for the ice-biscuit and asked if we wanted another batch fired for us. Inside was very pleasant and trying to give a modern, low-country vibe. I was a nice option since everything else was closed, but probably will not return when visiting again.

Yelp
We had a less than stellar experience for my birthday dinner at Lucky Rooster. I was so excited to dine at Lucky Rooster because of their good reviews and wide menu! Our group has a few dietary restrictions and this seemed to fit what we needed. However, our party spent most of our dinner completely ignored. We waited 90 minutes for our entrees, the server forgot to take one of our party members drink orders, never came back to check on us and ask how we were doing unless it was time to order or pay and spent time with every other table on the patio never even looking our direction when we tried to get his attention. If you're visiting Hilton Head, I would not recommend a visit to Lucky Rooster.

Paolo C.

Yelp
Walked here at 8:20PM and they said they were closed. Drove here to be in before 9Pm closing. Least you can do is update the hours online and apologize. You can't be rude about the fact that you wanted to close early.

Yelp
Food was okay (nothing special), but the service was sadly kind of abysmal which put a damper on the experience. Our server seemed to be taking great care of all of his other tables so I'm not sure what was wrong with us. We were a party of 8 (a big party, but not even the biggest table on the patio, where we were sitting) and had a 7:15pm reservation for dinner. We only had one drink menu for our whole table so we asked for a second one, and made our drink orders--except our server walked away without asking the last person at the table what she wanted to order. He continued to attend to every other table on the patio, but never looked in our direction (we were trying to make eye contact). Eventually a different server brought us our drinks (after about 15 minutes), and I asked if the friend who hadn't been allowed to order could get a drink because she'd been skipped. Everyone finally had their drinks about 30 min in and the server finally came over to check on us, so we asked if we could put in our food order. We all ordered our food, and then waited. And waited. My wife and I ordered a salad and the mushroom pasta to share, which could have come out together (especially since no one else ordered two courses), but the salad was brought out first, causing us to have to awkwardly eat while everyone else watched. By this point we had probably already been waiting 45 minutes since ordering the food, so everyone was hungry. We're all wondering where the food is and are watching as our server spends about 10 minutes talking to the last other table left on the patio. I've never seen a server spend so long talking to one table. Finally he comes over and checks on us and we asked him if he can check on our food, which came out immediately after that. A couple orders weren't quite right, but no one wanted to say anything else at that point. The mushroom pasta ($28), was okay but absolutely not worth the price tag. If the price had been half it might have been appropriate. Hilton Head in general is not friendly to vegetarians, with most places only having one option, if they have any at all. If you're going to have just one vegetarian option, it should probably be a good one. If I had to go back, I would probably just get the Pear & Arugula Salad again and nothing else. But there are a lot of other restaurants in the area so I will not be back to this one.

Yelp
11-16-23 7:30 pm Reservation Open Table Located directly across from our hotel it was a long travel day so we actually drove across the road. Once inside we were greeted and lead to a nice booth along the wall. Have us a great view of the entire restaurant. We started with drinks myself a Sauvignon Blanc by the glass from New Zealand and hubby a Hendricks and tonic. Actually his first drink he didn't like as they forgot the tonic. But it was quickly corrected without any issues. Since I had a large lunch I went on the lighter side with a pear salad and mussels that was an appetizer. However the portion was so large I could not finish even with hubby's help. Hubby had the burger and fell in love. Said he was nervous when it said duck fat but it really made it flavorful. For such a small place the menu was extensive as well as the service was top notch. We skipped dessert but ai did get a Frangelico on the rocks. Great place for a nice relaxing and quiet dinner.

Yelp
Great food. Raised short ribs and pork chop was very tender. I grew up in NC and I've never eaten collards like this. They are great. I have to try and replicate it. Michael was our server and provided us a detailed description of the food prep and offered several similar choices. Romantic atmosphere and great for relaxing nights out.

Ashely S.

Yelp
The husband, 19 month old, and I had to stop in to eat here today. We've heard a lot about it. We weren't disappointed. We had reservations, were sat immediately and greeted with friendly staff. The inside is like a romantic feel with dope music playing. The food was so fresh and cooked to perfection. I ate the shrimp and scallops and loved it. My husband had the braised short rib which was so juicy. My daughter had chicken strips with fries and even that was phenomenal lol.

Yelp
**Time for an update. This isn't the same Lucky Rooster we visited multiple times in 2016. We came expecting down home southern cooking and what we got was an attempt at fine dining. Before you come for me, look at my reviews. We have eaten at some of the finest restaurants in the country. We didn't make a reservation - our bad. The old Lucky Rooster didn't require reservations. The hostess was lovely and sat us at a booth near the bar. The restaurant is beautiful with an upscale feel. The food.....they tried. We had: - Cheeseburger - very good - best item we had - Shrimp Louie Salad - bad, my daughter didn't like it - Low Country Charcuterie - interesting. The pimento cheese and whitefish dips were very good. The prosciutto was thick with minimal fat. It tasted ok but had a weird consistency. Their version of salami - tasty but the casing got stuck in your mouth. It was not edible and came apart in your mouth as one long strip. Yuck!! - Watermelon Salad - very average - Grilled Cheese - my son liked it The prices, almost Manhattan! Which is ridiculous. We will not be coming back. The server (who was lovely) said they changed ownership in 2021. Say no more.

Yelp
Dined here while in town visiting, so we made a reservation for dinner as we were a party of 8. We were seated instantly and were told ahead of time we'd be dining out on the patio (totally fine with us). Comparatively, it felt as though our party was getting overlooked in comparison to those around us. From the time we sat down to the time my dish was placed in front of me was 90 MINUTES. Yes, this was a Saturday evening, but a hour and a half wait is really unacceptable, especially with no attempt at remedying the issue. My Wagyu Mushroom Burger was just decent, one mushroom was a little too fungi tasting for me which normally doesn't happen as I love mushrooms. Overall, the menu seemed pricey for the very disappointing experience we had.

Yelp
LRK is part of a small strip mall of sorts, anchoring the left end. It was almost hard to see until we got into the parking lot. But, once inside, what a pleasant surprise! A beautiful bar and spacious, tastefully decorated dining room. The menu was not your average menu, with two items as apps that I haven't seen in a very long time on a menu: bone marrow and chicken livers. We ordered the chicken livers and what a portion! Be sure to ask for extra sauce, you'll need it! My friend had a salad as her meal and it was giant! My boneless short rib was the largest short rib I'd ever seen and it was perfectly cooked; fall apart tender and delicious with a fork full of whipped potato. The service was pleasant, helpful and attentive. I will definitely add LRK to my go to dining list when I return to HHI.

Yelp
We so enjoyed Lucky Rooster Kitchen + Bar. On a recent vacation to Hilton Head, we stopped by for dinner and again for snacks and drinks. It's a wonderful spot for both. For our dinner, we started with their pimento cheese fries which were indulgent and delicious. Their fries are on the larger side (not quite steak fries, but definitely bigger than your average) and were fried nice and crispy so they didn't get soggy from the cheese. The pimento cheese was rich and plentiful and everything pimento cheese ought to be and the entire thing was topped with an easy egg--delish! For dinner, I got their halibut special, which came with a crab stuffed potato skin and garlic wilted spinach. The halibut was divine, the potato was a solid good with plenty of crab, and the garlic wilted spinach (which at first seemed like a side note) was flavorful and utterly delectable. The cocktails are wonderful (enjoyed their old fashioned cocktail as well as their sazerac). The service was beautifully attentive. In addition to their indoor dining area, they also have a lovely heated patio. When we came back for drinks and snacks, we sat on the patio. The bartender who works out there is a delight. We also were able to enjoy a local musician while we enjoyed our cocktails. Five stars all the way! Get to it!

Chelsea W.

Yelp
We dined at Lucky Rooster with a group of 8 on a Tuesday evening, and unfortunately, it was a disappointing experience, especially for a $500 meal. The food was bland, most of our orders were incorrect, and the dishes were generally unappetizing. The fried chicken was so dry that no one at the table could eat it, and the Bahn Mi barely had any fish on it. Overall, the meal was terrible. I do not recommend visiting this place.

Julia M.

Yelp
We had excellent service & love the vibe here. 5 stars on both points! The food was good, but unfortunately not quite to the level of great. My first issue is that the menu is not my favorite. They definitely have a "new south" cuisine vibe going on here. Which I get, and I respect, but it just falls a little short of my expectations. Also, I don't eat pork or beef, so my options were limited. So, we decided to skip the appetizers. Hubs started with a ceaser salad. It was a good sized salad and looked good but included onion & tomatoes. I personally would have not been happy with it since I am not a fan of red onion on salad, but he was happy with it For his entree, he ordered the shrimp & scallops which was served with red rice & andoiulle sausage and served with asparagus & mushrooms. The rice was too soupy for his liking, but the veggies looked good. The shrimp & scallops looked good but were a little sparse. Hubs likes bread with his meal, which they don't provide. However, when he asked, they jumped on it and brought him some bread & butter. Props to them for that! I decided to skip a salad & appetizer and since it was cold out, went with one of the specials, which was a seafood Bouilliabaisse. It was a tomato & saffron base and included a grilled lobster tail, mussels and grouper. It was good but not spectacular. For $48, I had hoped it would be a liitle tastier. I LOVE saffron & tomatoes but this broth just tasted a little off. The seafood was good though. The seafood sat on a bunch of fingerling potatoes & had a couple of toast points. Overall, for what we ordered: 1 beer, 1 glass of wine, 1 salad, and 2 entrees, it was pretty pricey. Our tab was $120 before tip. Our server and the management was awesome & very attentive. 5 stars for that! But not sure we will be rushing back anytime soon based on the menu & the food we had. I would rate food & menu as 3 stars. Again, nothing was bad but if we are going to spend $60 per person for dinner, we want to walk out raving about great it was - both for the food and the service.

Tj R.

Yelp
Excited to try from the menu. We were seated instantly Et offered water. Then not one employee made eye contact or acknowledged us for over 15 mins, so we left and walked down to the blue lagoon where the service is amazing. Seems like this is a common occurrence that needs fixing After reading actual full reviews.

Lauren K.

Yelp
Looking for a good meal in Hilton Head? Look no further than here. On the end of a strip mall north of Shelter Cove, you'll find this understated from the outside gem. They offer elegant indoor dining or you can enjoy the heated patio. It was beautifully decorated for the holidays when we visited. We opted for the patio and loved it. The staff were top notch from the seating host to the manager to waitstaff. Our server was delightful! She was high energy, attentive and just what we needed after riding in the car for a few hours. We tried two different cocktails. We really liked the one my husband picked with honey gin, but they all looked good. As for food, I got the shrimp Louie salad with chicken and my husband got the bahn mi sandwich with green beans. His sandwich was huge! The bread was soft and chewy and his green beans were cooked to perfection. He was quite pleased with his meal. My salad was equally delighful with those big pink shrimp I love in the low country. It was enough for two meals. We treated ourselves to the brownie sundae. I highly recommend doing what we did - worked out before and after our meal so that we could treat ourselves. It was well worth it because the sundae was yummy. See website for hours, menu, location and more. Consider making an Open Table reservation to ensure no wait or hassle. I recommend going early enough to check out the darling art gallery next door. They feature some beautiful work that you may wish to take home a souvenir!

Yelp
This is a very mixed review. My wife had the NC Trout and she said it was really good. I had the Lucky Rooster burger and that was not good at all. The burger was lukewarm and way too salty. The fries tasted like they were made an hour ago and again, way too salty and overcooked. The service was good and fast, but I doubt I will go there again.

John L.

Yelp
Food was great. Got the trout, perfectly cooked. Our server was outstanding and very accommodating towards our little ones. Very friendly and quick service. No complaints at the table at all. Will definitely be back.

Lourdes E.

Yelp
The food was not to my liking. Too many dishes with cream featured or fried. We started out with fried chicken liver which had way too much breading but my family liked it. We had the crab cakes - for $25 I expected a larger size and the remoulade was a tiny bit.. seemed way overpriced- yes, it's lump crabmeat but they were about 2-3 inches across and about 2 inches high. My husband got the fried chicken and I thought it was dry and again, a lot of breading on it. My daughter ordered the burger and said it was very good. Our server, Cassie was very good. Friendly, competent and very efficient. The drinks were also good and the room was very nice.

Tim M.

Yelp
Walked in at 6pm on a Thursday night without reservations and these folks were awesome...found me a table for 2 on the patio in the shade and the food was phenomenal!!!

Don V.

Yelp
So so. Calamari greasy and salty. Meals were fair to good. Drinks ok but nothing to write home about

Hungrytommy ..

Yelp
Lucky Rooster is a hot spot for dinner on Hilton Head Island. They have great food and cocktails. The stuffed eggs, on both the brunch and dinner menus, are delicious. On the dinner menu, "Some Pig" is a great choice. It's served with excellent collard greens. For brunch, I liked the burger, but it's not quite a smash burger and would be better if cooked medium rare. Service at Lucky Rooster is always friendly. The dining room is sleek and modern. They also have outdoor seating. There's a good reason why we keep coming back to Lucky Rooster whenever we go to HHI.

Mike M.

Yelp
We were on vacation on the island for a week and found this place on Yelp along with other local sites and I am glad we did! The overall restaurant and atmosphere are great! Very clean with kind and welcoming staff. Luis was our waiter. He was friendly and attentive. It was our first time there so he gave us a run down on the menu which was helpful. We started off with the pimento cheese fries for an app. These were amazing! Everything mixed well and the potatoes, egg, and bacon were all cooked to perfection. I got the braised short rib for my entree. The rib just pulled apart and had an amazing flavor and consistency. The mashed potatoes and succotash were both great on their own but also paired well with the rib. My girlfriend got the roasted beet salad with steak added. The steak was cooked a perfect medium as ordered but the real hit was the blood orange and basil vinaigrette it comes with! Kind of bummed we found this place our second time on the island and on our last night there. We will definitely be going back.

Carol R.

Yelp
Great covered patio and friendly service! I enjoyed my Shrimp Louie salad. It came loaded with plump shrimp and all the veggies were fresh.

Paul S.

Yelp
First the good...the outside patio had great ambiance and we stayed dry even during a heavy rain. I had the shrimp and scallops and it was quite good. The waiter was also very friendly and engaging. Now for the just OK. The Calamari and the Mussles appetizers were just alright. The place is pretty pricey and not sure it was worth it. Bounced back and forth between three and four stars.

Jim S.

Yelp
I'd actually give this a 4.5 if I could. There were 6 of us. We requested the patio, and they took care of us. They have a really nice covered one with a small bar. There was entertainment out there. A guy on his guitar. He was sooo good. Not sure his name. We had peelneat shrimp for appetizer. We are from the Midwest and used to them being chilled. These were boiled and served in broth. Taste was good but too hot to peel. Also, they were kind of tough, not what we are used to with chilled ones. My wife had fried chicken. The pieces were good and batter was tasty. But meat was kind of dry. The vegetable of the day was awesome. A southern succotash. Our server was really good. Very personable, attentive, and accommodating. Definitely recommend.

Steph G.

Yelp
Nice venue near the Marriott- attentive staff, kid friendly and cozy booths. Lots of local draft beers to choose from, among other beverages. We ordered a house salad, calamari, fish banh mi, and mac and cheese. Everything was flavorful and tasty. Food was brought out quickly. Would definitely return

James M.

Yelp
Spectacular! I've heard good things about Lucky Rooster for years and finally tried it last night and I am so glad that I did. I had the burger and have to say that it was the best burger I have had my entire life. Then I tried the duck fat French fries and they were also the best I have had in my entire life! Incredible! Can't wait to go back next week to try the short ribs! Highly recommended!

Rachel A.

Yelp
If you're in Hilton Head, you need to stop by this place. My bf and I went for dinner last night; on a whim. The food was fantastic and the service was even better. I sometimes find it hard to find nice restaurants in "tourist" attracted towns. You'll often find that the service and chefs are burnt out due to high volume. Plus, tourist can sometimes be more demanding than usual. This places service was OUTSTANDING. And I don't say that lightly. Every single person in that restaurant took pride in what they were doing and believed in the food they were serving. We will 100% be back!!

Olesya P.

Yelp
Really great place! Food is amazing, service is friendly and nice ambiance. Lots of outdoor seating. Very generous wine selection list. Menu is good but does not have many vegetarian options if you want some vegetarian. Has pretty good seafood. We had tuna tartare which was great! I also had tuna nicoise which was pretty good. My partner had steak. Food was very good and came very quickly. Definitely recommend.

Megan F.

Yelp
We had a great time here! We happened upon it while out in Hilton Head. So glad we did. The live music, servers, managers, food and drink were great. The charcuterie board was incredible! Definitely recommend!

Carrie E.

Yelp
Amazing service but underwhelming food. The ambiance outside was nice! We went on Wednesday for half-off wine bottles. The chicken on my salad was definitely not fresh. My husband's burger was good, but likely not worth the $22. Overall, the staff was great but the food was overpriced.

Luke T.

Yelp
There is a variety of restaurants on HHI. Some on the dock, for you to admire the sunset. Some offer local low country , southern flavors. Some.. like Lucky here, offer the best from their chef and kitchen. A great menu, extensive wine selection , and cocktails. We are glad to have picked Lucky Rooster. Reservations are a good idea, and you can do that thru their opentable. We dined here shortly after Xmas and the place was 75% full during dinner service. I think they intentionally do this to help with social distancing. More over, our server did tell us she was triple vaxxed and that is great because tourist hotspots need these precautions to keep their staff safe, keep the vacation area open, and tourists coming back. So yes, this restaurant is doing it right. As for dinner, they have seasonal fish and I enjoyed a grilled red snapper. The fish was delicious. Cooked just perfectly, moist, silky and full of umami. It was the best plate on the table. Meanwhile, her steak frites was also the bomb. tender and coated with black pepper sauce and duck fat french fries.. holy moly. Sinfully delicious. They ran out to lamb, so the boys had short ribs, and those things were huge. Braised , tender, smoky, with a side of crusty mac and cheese. At the end, our server tempted us with dessert. I caved when she said peach cobbler with ice cream. It was served on the cutest mini cast iron pan. Finally, service from host to server was warm and professional.

Angela C.

Yelp
Food and drinks were both great. We had the mushroom pasta, pear salad and shrimp and scallop meal. Everything was great

Lowell D.

Yelp
Went for an early dinner on a Sunday. Place was a little more upscale then I thought. But very good. And great attentive service We would return

Kris R.

Yelp
Great ambiance, excellent service, average to below average cuisine. Manager and serving staff are way above average but all this place needs is an above average chef.

Demian S.

Yelp
Food was good Ice tea was horrible Waiter was very nice But don't ask for anything extra No mayonnaise No ranch You get what you get

Tricia K.

Yelp
Only went once on Mothers Day. Food was not great. Totally overdone waffle. How does that even happen? Mgr and waiter were super about trying to fix it, but the kitchen just couldn't get it right

R Y.

Yelp
Had a reservation but hostess insisted we wanted outside even though that was wrong. Ninety degrees outside, no way. Will not go back.

Stephen R.

Yelp
Food and service was fantastic. We had Calamari, Salmon, Some Pig and death by chocolate for dessert. It was expensive but you get what you pay for and totally worth it.

Jami W.

Yelp
The Sunday brunch and $10 bottomless mimosas at THe Lucky Rooster are terrific! Our waiter, Chris, did a terrific job serving us and putting up with our loud, fun crew of 6! Austin Williams was playing the guitar and singing during brunch, which is a very nice touch. I highly recommend checking out The Lucky Rooster when you are in Hilton Head.

James W.

Yelp
This was our first visit to Hilton head Island and my wife and I chose to eat at the Lucky rooster kitchen and bar on our first night here. The ambience was modern and dark a perfect place for an evening meal. The service was impeccable, with our waiter coming over multiple times during the evening to ask us about the food, and if there's anything else he could get us. The service was attentive, but not overwhelming. For our appetizer, we shared the crabcakes. There were two crabcakes served with a tartar sauce, as well as balsamic coated tomatoes. The tomatoes were very flavorful. They had just the right amount of balsamic. The crabcakes were 100% crab with a lot of crab in the cake and they were extremely tasty. we both had the fried chicken which was a half of a fried chicken served with two sides. The chicken was crispy on the outside and flavorful and juicy on the inside. It was easy to cut off the bone. It was served with a hot honey dipping sauce, which was very good and added to the flavor, the sauce was not too spicy. We both had the mashed potatoes, which were creamy and delicious. All in all, this was an excellent meal with excellent food and excellent attentive service.

Yelp
Phenomenal service, food, and drinks. We had the crab cakes and beet salad as starters then finished with a wreck fish feature and shrimp and scallop entree. Absolutely amazing. We will return on our next trip to Hilton head. As an ex-chef I highly recommend this restaurant. The server was introduced to the dinner feature and well versed in it. Which is rare.

Yelp
What an incredible disappointment this time around. While our server was pleasant and professional, our food was horrible. My oldest daughter had the Steak frites with peppercorn sauce. The steak was cooked well and had good flavor, but they only gave about a teaspoon of the peppercorn sauce. Youngest daughter had a burger that had a weirdly bad flavor and was dry as a bone. My wife had fried chicken that was so bad that I spit it out when I tasted it. Finally, I got their duck special. The duck was cooked in a sous vide and was left in for far too long. While using a sous vide can result in a perfect temperature, if left too long it can change the texture. That's definitely what happened in this case, giving the duck a terrible, inedible texture. I really wish I knew what happened to this place because it was great the last few times we went, but was so bad last night that we won't return.

Yelp
My wife and I had been to the Lucky Rooster a few years ago, pre-COVID. This was our first time back to the restaurant. It was a decent meal but it did not live up to our memories of the place. It felt like all aspects of the restaurant were one tier lower than it used to be. Salt and pepper shakers are typically an indicator of the quality of restaurant. You won't see them in higher end restaurants, and they are there now. We ordered the mussels as an app and shared the "some pig" pork chop. The mussels were good but only came with one slice of bread. Needed more for dipping. The pork chop was good, not great. Overall it's a decent meal, and a little pricey, but to be expected on the island. Probably won't be back.

Yelp
Unimpressed with the food. Not worth the price, probably wouldn't go back. Service was fine, came with a big party with no reservation and they put together a table for us.

Yelp
Service was top notch. We ordered braised short ribs and fried chicken for main dishes. Both were amazing. Very flavorful, beautiful presentation, and would recommend both! Fries are to die for! Desserts ordered were pecan pie and flourless chocolate cake. Delish! Great place!!

Yelp
First of all, we had brunch. Riley our waitress is awesome! Great service. I had chicken and waffles. Nicely presented and chicken tenders and no bones...and seasoned well. Waffles are grit waffles and are on the lighter side. Daughter asked if they had their She Crab soup available no biggie if not. Riley asked the Head Chef and they went off menu for her. It was very good.

Yelp
Really wanted to like this place. Ambiance was nice. Menu looked good but was pricey even for Hilton Head. Red flag was that the server wasn't proud of or knowledgeable about the menu. My son had the lamb meatloaf with rutabaga. Meat was cold and flavor was off. Nothing special. I had the burger with duck fat fries. Burger was savory but not worth $22 for sure. Fries were decent. Both my daughter and wife had the pasta with mushrooms and sauce was off, again, flavors didn't jive. Beer I had was Aloha Beaches from Saint Johns, SC. Now that was a draft worth finding and trying. What else. Oh the fried calamari starter was ok but the sauce with it was...you guessed it...off. Bland, didn't complement the fried seafood. The deviled eggs should have been delicious. But they were rather bland. No spice, no zing. Blue cheese on my wedge salad was good, but it wasn't a real wedge. When I order a wedge salad, I expect to see a dang wedge come out. The bill for 4 with only four drinks, 2 beers and 2 glasses of their house boxed red from Spain was $240 plus tip. So $280!!! When I spend $280 for a meal for 4, $70 dollars a head, I would like to be impressed with the food. Well, that didn't happen. Will go to Frankie Bones next time and stick to what we know to be great food. Sometimes you swing for the fence and miss. Oh well.....
