Artist‑run and deeply community‑minded, this contemporary art space hosts exhibitions, talks, and residencies. A launching pad for the Counterpublic triennial, it’s often highlighted by arts media for expanding the city’s creative conversation.
It was a great place for an event. We had a wedding, our own catered reception, family gatherings from both sides, hall supplied tables, and we decorated. They had a bar and bartender, and we supplied drinks up to a certain amount, then cash bar. Great place, and we set the hours for the Gathering. Great time was had by all. Very gracious thank you to all who helped make it a huge success.

Anytime I see a line outside the Luminary I immediately check the website to see what's going on! I'm never disappointed by an exhibit, speaker, or event to hold space there.

Pillar to Platform Group Exhibition expertly highlights the value of community effort.
A great representation of this is
Emma Bright’s Film SO(U)L.
Emma and two deeply inspired artists (Lilja Michaud and Melissa June) joined together to create a comfortable space to receive their direct invitation to “step into feeling, as it unionizes the conscious and unconscious through image, sound, and movement.”
The Power found in reclaiming the physical body by honoring one’s so(u)l.
The Luminary is clearly dedicated to providing high quality free art experiences like this to the community!

Yelp
We had never even heard of this place, but stumbled upon it when we came in to try Black Coffee.
It's a really cool venue, open ceilings, open floor - very neat. It would be really awesome for a party
We REALLY loved their book options, hand picked authors and books that were right up our alley.
Really awesome space!

Yelp
This is great community center/meeting space. I was here for a local networking event. The space was large enough to accommodate 20 or so vendors (with room to spare). There was also enough room for setting up a food station. There were also drinks available the evening I was there- local beer from a keg, specialty cocktail of the evening, or soda.
The building is obviously very old, but the interior seems very well kept. Seems like it was many buildings that have been converted into one- remember to look up while inside to see the unique architecture making up the roof/ceiling!
There were some local kids running around the place, eating pizza, and playing games during the networking event. They were welcomed with open arms by the folks running the event. That just shows how awesome the owners are- welcoming everyone and really becoming a part of the community.

Yelp
Very cool event and art show space. Here for an Alive Magazine event. Very trendy, spacious, with a stage for a dj. Cool spot with nice modern art.
