My best friend and I needed a little getaway from the busy holiday season. We stayed at a bed and breakfast together for the first time, the MacPherson House in Fayetteville. It was such a memorable experience. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly greeted by the owner, and Santa! Fun fact: he’s the Santa for the Fayetteville Rotary Parade. We had just missed their Photos and Cookies with Santa event, which made the welcome feel even more special. The owner took the time to share the history of the room we stayed in, the Saint-Avold Suite, which added a thoughtful and personal touch to our stay. The suite itself was cozy and relaxing, with all the basic amenities you could need and the softest rugs, OMG honestly, my favorite part. There was also a cozy nook just outside the room that I could easily picture as a little library or reading nook. We loved having a coffee station right outside the suite, and breakfast was absolutely amazing. The entire house was beautifully decorated with festive Christmas vibes, making it feel warm and magical. The only downside was that it wasn’t quite a “silent night” due to the nearby trains. However, the hosts were very thoughtful and provided both earplugs and white noise machines, which we truly appreciated. Overall, it was a charming, welcoming stay, and we would absolutely consider returning.

The Cottage was a great place to spend a few days with our two small dogs. The space was well thought out and there were plenty of amenities. We did not need anything at all. There are a lot of printed ‘rules’ in the cottage which was the only negative. We are traveling with pets, so they will sometimes jump up… this should be expected when renting a pet friendly location. Other than that the stay was amazing… it is in the middle of everything and walking distance to most things downtown.

I do not recommend this place. Poor sleep due to constant noise from a nearby highway and train. The house is pretty but it’s is not worth the price, and owners who overcharged us without our consent and showed zero courtesy or flexibility. For anyone considering staying here: Before booking, I specifically asked by phone if a 30-minute late checkout (11:30 instead of 11:00) was possible. I was told it would cost $50, which I clearly declined. I was then told I could work after checkout in the dining room or common areas. Because I asked (not because they offered). The next morning, I was informed there is no bathroom available outside the room. At 11:00, with the entire house completely empty, no cleaning taking place, and the room door left open, I asked if we could keep access to the room only to use the bathroom while working downstairs. I was allowed by the woman on site to do that. Despite this, $50 was charged to my card without warning or consent for a “late checkout.” This felt dishonest and purely motivated by extracting an extra fee, especially given the circumstances. For nearly $300 per night, this level of noise, rigidity, and lack of basic hospitality is unacceptable. We paid an absurd amount to stay less than 12 hours and left feeling taken advantage of. While the house looks nice, the experience is absolutely not worth it.

McPherson House is a lovely B&B although it’s more like an old fashioned Inn with sparkling clean, and cozy accommodations. The rooms are incredibly comfortable and the included breakfast is delicious! What a relief to find as an option on our yearly drive from DC to Miami and back for the Xmas holidays. We really dislike the sterile, soulless highway motel chains. We will definitely be returning g to th McPherson House.

We had the absolute best stay! The perfect hidden gem in Fayetteville with historic charm. The Chestnut room was so relaxing and had the most comfortable bed. Don’t even get me started on the breakfast, TO DIE FOR! Can’t wait to stay again!

Beautifully appointed and well run B&B very conveniently located. I stayed in the only first floor room. I appreciated the easy access/fewer stairs and the bonus was being right across from the complementary snack bar which included coffee, teas, water, muffins, yogurt and chocolate chip cookies. The full breakfast offered was filling and satisfying. I enjoyed chatting with other guests, and the staff was very welcoming and friendly. Only a few blocks drive from restaurants. I enjoyed the Innkeeper’s recommendation of Circa 1800. I also appreciated the offstreet parking to feel more secure about leaving my car in an unfamiliar place.

A lovely, charming home with easy self-entry. The bedroom was huge and the bed very cozy. Absolutely spotless as well. There's no TV in the rooms which is a good thing because the sound of it might have carried. The free choc chip cookies on the coffee/tea bar in the hallway were wonderful. The convenient location on a busy street meant that there was traffic noise (and occasional train whistles), but I didn't mind it. I slept like a rock. Breakfast was luscious: hot apple-cinnamon french toast, sausages, and plain yogurt with fresh berries. Service was perfection. I'll be back!

We frequent the Fayetteville area to visit family and wanted a change of pace from one of the typical chain hotels we stay in. We loved MacPherson for our one night stay! The bed was very comfortable and delicious breakfast. We loved coffee and cookies upon an easy check-in! The location was great for everything we needed to get to. We would definitely stay again!||Notes:|- We stayed in the Chesnutt room which was second floor on the back of the building - we didn't experience any road noise and slept soundly with our sound machine|- We have two kids (toddler age) who usually travel with us but did not on this trip. While MacPherson is a wonderful place, I wouldn't recommend staying in the house with young kids - consider The Cottage. It's an older home and sound can travel!|- Breakfast was simple but a plenty - we had a veggie quiche, sausage, fruit, coffee and juice!

Yelp
I can highly recommend the Dogwood room, although this one has no TV and I could see that being a problem for some. I did hear other guests say the sound of traffic or the train kept them up at night, but I heard nothing in the Dogwood. The entire inn is so gorgeous and charming, very clean and well kept, and the bed was unbelievably comfortable. It was all topped off with a lovely plated breakfast in the morning. The coffee and snack bars around the house are such a nice touch too. It was honestly the best stay I've ever had at any inn or hotel.

Yelp
A little expensive for the area, but lovely room (except for the shower, which was a bit cramped), very peaceful, very easy stay. The bed was also great!

Yelp
Great experience for a weekend. Katy and Michael are great hosts. The location is nice also within walking distance of one of the most revitalized parts of Fayetteville.

Yelp
Our home away from home, stayed here several times and always will visiting Fayetteville! Truly historic, authentic, beautiful 1 of a kind B&B and impeccably clean throughout! Historic downtown Fayetteville's right there, an easy, short walk! Brochures, maps in lobby/foyer (restaurants, things to do). Recommend booking "directly" (we just call) it's faster, best prices! Owners (Katy & Michael) are exceptional, treat you like family and are always available via text or phone. Our preference is a "king bed", all rooms have king and the quality and comfort is phenomenal! 2 covered porches (front and back) we enjoy with beautiful NC weather. Historic downtown Fayetteville's an easy short walk, the B&B's literally on the edge of it. We've stayed in the Dogwood and the Campbellton rooms and look forward to staying in the others (got to see them after check-out!). Highly recommend staying in any room!
