Best Indian Food in Boston | Eater Boston

"The Maharaja overlooks Harvard Square and is a common spot for students. It serves tandoori dishes and offers an all-you-can-eat lunch buffet stocked with vegetarian and non-vegetarian North Indian dishes. The buffet includes items like vegetable pakora, saag paneer, dal makhani, and naan. Meat options include chicken tikka masala, kadhai lamb, and tandoori chicken. End your meal with sweet, syrupy gulab jamun paired with a hot cup of chai." - Helena Mistry

The Maharaja combines excellent Indian food with great service and a nice atmosphere. It has a great selection of alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages. The place is a bit expensive being 20-30 dollars per person.

Google
Decent food, good service great views. My chicken tikka masala was delicious.

I had a really great experience here. I went by myself, which can sometimes feel a bit awkward, but the staff made me feel totally welcome. They were genuinely kind and attentive. And the food? Absolutely amazing — full of flavor, beautifully prepared and served. The garlic naan was warm, buttery, and the perfect companion to the chicken jalfrezi. I also had a sangria (okay, not exactly Indian!), but it was refreshing and paired really well with the meal. I’ll definitely be coming back, hopefully next time with my lovely wife.

Devangi Lamba

Google
food was pretty good, i liked the shahi paneer korma - staff is nice but wait times for the food can be long sit by the window if you can

In my opinion, this is the best Indian restaurant in the Boston metropolitan area. The quality of the food is outstanding—every dish is full of rich, authentic flavors and clearly made with care and top-notch ingredients. The food is on the spicier side, something to keep in mind if you’re sensitive to heat. While the prices are on the higher end, I believe it’s worth it for the quality, taste, and overall experience.

Google
The Chicken Biryani I ordered via Uber Eats was disappointing—just average at best, and the raita was watery and bland. Overall, the food wasn’t worth the price. $30 for a biryani feels steep given the quality, especially compared to other restaurants

Google
Elegant place to have official or family dinners. Vegetarian food was good but as a spicy food lover it was little bland even after taking their spicy option, it wasn’t spicy enough for me. I loved the daal makhni, it was so yum. Quantity was more than enough for chicken biryani.

Viraj Wadhwa

Google
Excellent food. It was really tasty and the quantity was good too, we took home leftovers. The service was great, it felt like they really did care about us having a good meal. The view is great since the restaurant is on the 2nd floor and it's entirely surrounded by glass. If you want vegetarian food, they have lots of options. Highly recommend this place!

Yelp
Great food and wonderful service..authentic taste !!! Will go back..good ambience as well. Authentic feel!!

Yelp
The restaurant is located on the second floor of an unassuming office-style building, which felt a bit odd at first. However, as you reach the top of the stairs and turn the corner, a beautifully ornate, colorful door immediately signals you're in the right place. Being on the second floor offers a lovely bonus: a wonderful view of either JFK or Winthrop Street, depending on your table. We were seated promptly, and our server provided excellent service--attentive without being intrusive. The food was delicious, arriving in a reasonable amount of time, with a perfect balance of flavors and spices. The prices are reasonable for the quality, in line with what you'd expect these days. We'll definitely be returning!

Yelp
The food was pretty standard. Just as flavorful as I expected. My friends and I (party of 5) went for dinner and we did not need to wait for a table. Staff was nice. The ambiance was nice enough to be a good restaurant for celebratory meals as well as meals to catch up with friends!

Yelp
I always love coming here! The staff is super friendly, it's not overly crowded, and the food is absolutely delicious. My friend and I keep coming back because it's some of the best Indian food we've found in Boston!

Yelp
My friend and I had walked all around Boston, nearly 20000 steps in total. We finally decided to get dinner before heading back home, and this was where we decided to enjoy our last meal together. Food: Our waiter chose some of the house specialities for us including garlic naan, lamb dish, and chicken tandoori. They were warm and flavorful and hearty, not anything incredible special, but perfect ending to our long day. But be warned, they don't mess around with their spices, the spice levels are catered to true Indians, not an amaericanized weakling like me. I shed some tears eating the tandoori chicken and my tongue and esophagus burned, but it was still good and I actually ate through a fair portion with lots of water. The cocktail I ordered was a little too strong for my liking, felt kinda tipsy after the glass hehe Price: around $23-26 per dish, which is on the pricy side, but keep in mind, this is kind of an upscale Indian restaurant Ambiance: great view of Cambridge from the second floor, I was thankfully seated right next to big windows overlooking the outside little park area. The inside is very large spacious, dimly lit, decorated well with red undertones. Seems like a great place for a date night, romantic dinner together with your significant other Service: all the workers here are Indian, and our waiter was funny and very welcoming! He made menu suggestions, joked about few small things, and attentive, checking on our table frequently (but not TOO frequently) to see if we needed anything. Overall amazing service Parking: we had walked all around and ended up in Cambridge in an uber. We ended up ubering back to Jamaican Plains after the dinner. Not sure about the parking situation, but it seemed pretty difficult to find an available spot around this busy part of town

Yelp
Came here for lunch on a weekday and the place was pretty empty - definitely don't need to worry about getting a table in the middle of the day. We were seated quickly and had our orders taken almost as soon as we knew what we wanted; the workers didn't have much to do given how quiet the space was. We got a few starters and entrees for three people; I would say the amount we got was just enough for all of us. The taste was pretth good, I enjoyed the curries more than the apps especially due to portion size, all of which was on the smaller side especially given the price. I find this spot, if it's not for buffet, to be extremely overpriced. The mango lassi was good, just again on the smaller side. Overall, I probably wouldn't come back unless it was all you can eat. I've come in the past on a weekend and had a nice buffet then so only under those circumstances would I willingly return. Regardless, decent service and yummy food, it's just the price that is the result of three stars.

Yelp
Went here for a friend's birthday with a party of five. The presentation of the food was amazing. Everything came out in its own dish in a way that indicated that the plates were meant to share. For my main dish I ordered the chicken tikka masala with medium spice and a side of butter naan. The chicken did have a good but not overpowering spice and paired well with the naan. I was surprised to find that the dishes (the appetizers) were not served hot and I would have appreciated some indication of this on the menu. The waitstaff was incredibly kind and surprised us with singing, dancing, and a great dessert for my friend's birthday! Would definitely return for another meal.

Yelp
Loved my trip to The Maharaja! It's a cool space with big windows that overlook harvard square. We got the lamb biriyani, chicken tikki masala, and 2 orders of garlic naan. Everything was amazing. The lamb biriyani is really spicy just an FYI but we loved it. So much food we had plenty of leftovers for the next day. Service was super quick. Definitely recommend!

Yelp
I have been to the Maharaja several times in the past, but not for many years (five years or more)! A friend asked me to meet her for dinner here and I'm always ready for some Indian food, plus it's close to where I work, so it seemed like an easy win. The food though... the food! It was so dang good. How did I not notice it before? Or maybe something changed since then? Either way, it was phenomenal. The veggie pakoras were fresh, crisp, and full of flavor. We regretted only getting one order to split. My butter chicken was so flavorful and tender- paired with the rice and garlic naan, I had half leftover to take home. I told our waiter I was so thrilled to be able to eat that meal all over again!
google avatar

Darlina L.

Yelp
Didn't expect this place to be as good as it was! With all the construction on the building, the entrance was a little tricky to find. The interior feels like it was designed as as an office space rather than a restaurant. The views through the large windows were nice though. The food itself was delish! The samosa chaat was tasty as an appetizer. The chicken tikka masala is so rich and tender. The saag paneer is also really creamy and flavorful. Pairs super well with the garlic naan, which is perfectly buttery. Mango lassi was delicious too! One of the best Indian restaurants in area!

Yelp
Best Indian restaurant in Boston/Cambridge area! Located in Harvard square in a prime second floor location with a great view. It was quite crowded inside because of graduation weekend but they managed to squeeze us in. They have a wide selection of dishes to choose from, and we tried their chicken tikka, vegetable biryani, and tofu vindaloo. My favorite was the chicken tikka, which was incredibly flavorful and the chicken was tender. The portions were all filling and went well with a side of naan.
google avatar

Heather K.

Yelp
The first thing I noticed when I walked by was the Indian restaurant up on the second floor of a building overlooking a great location in Cambridge. The view is initially what drew me in. But then I had the kindest waiter, Frank, who was attentive to my wants/needs and made a wonderful suggestion to try the butter chicken instead of the chicken tiki ~ which I am so pleased with because I was initially thinking to try the butter chicken ~ it was a very aligned moment lol so maybe I'm biased but that doesn't deter from the fact that Frank was a truly amazing server who deserves some recognition. ALSO the naan is bangin, haven't had naan that good since 12 months ago in Connecticut! The butter chicken with none-in was amazing. It was all amazing. Come Here Already ‼
google avatar

Olivia K.

Yelp
100% yes. This is probably my favorite Indian restaurant in Boston! Their food is just bomb. The service is great. My favorites are their Butter Chicken, Chicken Tikka Masala, Lamb Vindaloo, Chicken Lollipops, and their NAAN. Protein type can be changed based on your preference. Oh, and if you're feeling extra, get their mango lassi. You won't regret it!

Yelp
Great location, good service, good ambience, but very average Indian food. Definitely better places if you'd want to try Indian food, and are ok on compromising the ambience.

Sukhi M.

Yelp
I really used to like the food here, but the quality nowadays has gone down. I feel like the dining in food and experience is much better, but their takeout and delivery food absolutely sucks. This is the 3rd time I ordered food delivery of the exact same dish and got really awful food. I ordered the matar paneer at a medium spicy level, all 3 times I got a bowl of paneer with too many peas and absolutely no gravy. I won't even talk about the taste, there was absolutely no flavor at all. If you can't make the dish properly, at least don't rip off your customers by serving them such substandard stuff and charging exorbitant prices for it. If I was working there, I'd be ashamed to serve this to the patrons.

Yelp
This was my first time trying this place out. The food is good and fresh. I got the lamb Tika masala, which I have also never had before. I usually go for chicken. I wish the lamb was tender, it was a but tough. The actual flavor was good. I tried the salmon tandoori and wish I got that instead. Samosa was also delicious. The staff was friendly and service was fast. It wasn't busy when we went. They do have a pretty big space and it was not too loud.
google avatar

Olivia A.

Yelp
We had dinner at The Maharaja on a Friday night and they were able to seat us immediately. The service was great and the food came out so fast. We got the lamb tikka masala, vegetable samosas, garlic naan and biryani. The garlic naan was a little dry but it wasn't bad. The lamb tikka was phenomenal, so creamy and delicious. I will say the amount of basmati rice they gave us was criminally small. Overall, great experience and would definitely come back

PM M.

Yelp
Americanized Indian food with no real flavor. The biryani was obsoletely horrible. It is a curry rice - just made in seconds!!

Yelp
Wonderful meals at a lovely restaurant in Harvard Square with delicious food, friendly, warm waiters and waitresses. Each of the various appetizers, entrees, desserts we have ordered in several visits at different times of the year have been excellent. It is our go to restaurant in Cambridge because we are confident we will be fed well!
google avatar

Yelp
I had a catered dinner from here. Love the abundance of vegan options on the menu! I tried the vegan saag "paneer" (with tofu) and the aloo gobi, and both were really flavorful and delicious. I would love to come here in person to try the other menu items :)
google avatar

Alice W.

Yelp
Came here for dinner with some friends, they seated us pretty quickly. The portions were huge! One quick note though, the waitress didn't ask us about allergies so unfortunately one of the friends in our group couldn't eat the lamb biryani that we ordered but it was really good! The samosa chaat was my favorite, it's so creamy and crispy. Definitely not an everyday kinda meal since it's alot of carbs but had a good experience and would be good for an occasional treat.

Yelp
I recently had the pleasure of dining at the Maharaja located on the second floor of a building, offering a stunning view of Harvard Square. From the moment I entered, I realized that I was in for a special fine dining experience. The ambiance was elegant yet inviting, setting the stage for a memorable meal. Let's start with the food itself, which was nothing short of extraordinary. Every dish I sampled was bursting with flavor, leaving my taste buds delightfully satisfied. This was matched with a beautiful presentation especially when the Tandoori chicken came out. My only complaint was in regards to the naan bread and the sizes of the sauces and curries were quite small. However, this didn't detract significantly from the overall quality of the meal. In fact, it provided an opportunity to try a variety of dishes by opting for shared plates, making it a perfect choice for a gathering with friends. The staff at the restaurant deserves commendation for their exceptional service. They were attentive, friendly, and went above and beyond to ensure a memorable dining experience. When we told them that there were birthdays being celebrated, they surprised us with an energetic rendition of "Happy Birthday" and treated us to a refreshing mango cake. What we got: Tikka masala Lamb Shahi Korma Kadhai panner Tandoori chicken Naan bread basket Galum jabun Price $$ Food 9 Atmosphere 10 Service 9

Yelp
Five members of my family recently visited The Maharaja for a very enjoyable dinner. The service, especially, was so delightful that one family member reflected that she wished he could come to her wedding "because his energy is just so positive and joyful." He was also completely unfazed by the many restrictions among the group's members. One requires gluten-free, two are strict vegetarians (not vegan), another is mostly vegetarian, two eat meat, three like "heat" and one can't tolerate ANY hot spices. Two non-drinkers plus a designated driver, and two adventurous cocktail-lovers made even the drink order a challenge. Nonetheless, the food arrived quickly, was absolutely delicious, and we were encouraged to stay as long as we liked. We'll be back!
google avatar

Yelp
Costs more than other area indian restaurants, but you're not just paying for the terrific location -- the food here is a step above. Flavorful dishes, fresh, prepared with care. I recently treated myself to delivery and even the delivery was fine dining.
google avatar

Helena Q.

Yelp
Decent food that arrived quickly! Most of the mains range are in the 20-25$ range, and are a very reasonable size for lunch. I didn't find most of the flavors exactly to my taste though -- the mango lassi (5$) was a little oversweet, the saag paneer was also a little too sweet. The medium spice level was pretty mild; I'd probably go with the spicier level. I guess it's a fine choice if you're in the area, but not worth a special visit.

Yelp
Amazing vibe, too notch service and delicious food! I can't thank this place enough. It's hard to find great Indian in a fancy yet comfortable setting but this place is great. Glad I finally got it off my bucket list!

Yelp
I wish I didn't have to pay over $20 for an entree just to get decent Indian food in the Boston area. The Maharaja is one of the better Indian spots I've tried in the city, and if I get too desperate for good Indian food I will spend $23 on chicken tikka masala. A group of 4 of us shared the chicken tikka masala ($22.99), paneer shahi korma ($21.99), yellow dal tadka ($19.99), papadum and chutneys ($4.99), tandoori roti ($4.50), plain naan ($4.50), garlic naan ($4.99), and onion kulcha ($4.99). The amount of food we ordered could have fed 6 people. We were stuffed! Each of the entrees came with rice. Only after moving to Boston did I realize that properly cooked rice (not hard or mushy) is a privilege, not a standard. Luckily the rice here was cooked well. The food was delicious-- the chicken and paneer chunks were quite big but they were not dry. The sauces were creamy and had their own unique flavor profiles. I was super impressed by the tadka dal, which was thicker and more textured than what I've been accustomed to. The tadka dal had pieces of minced cilantro which added freshness and crispiness to the dish. My favorite bread was the onion kulcha because the other breads we got were a bit too cracker-like for me. I liked how the onion kulcha was moist and chewy. As other reviewers have mentioned, the service here could be faster. This is not a good place to go if you need to dine in a hurry!

Yelp
So so yummy!!! Our new favorite Indian restaurant. All the food was so good and the portions for the naan bread were great. 10/10 will be back probably too soon

Yelp
That I hadn't yet eaten at this quintessential Harvard Square fixture after living in the neighbourhood for years was a bit surprising and certainly called for a long overdue visit. I stopped by for lunch last Friday and was disappointed - not with the restaurant, but at myself! - for not having come by before :P The four of us ordered everything to share - we had two entrees as well as a few orders of bread. Garlic naan was a particular highlight - we devoured it quickly and ordered more - but the roti was average at best, and I probably wouldn't order it again. For mains, we had the chicken tikka masala and the fish curry, both of which came with rice. Chicken tikka masala (their speciality, I think) was amazing - the sauce was so delicious, with a wonderful sweet flavour and creamy texture, and the chicken was juicy and tender (albeit in oft-unwieldy, really large pieces). Fish curry was also fantastic - curry rich and aromatic, and the fish tender and extremely flavourful. Portion sizes and price point were also really good; I was glad that we were feeling optimally full - not too stuffed - at the end of our meal... I can't imagine that would be the case had we each ordered one main, though, so definitely good to come as a group to share lots of dishes. Their menu is really big too, so I am already looking forward to my next visit to try some other delicious curries and more :)

Padmini D.

Yelp
We went here for a group event. The food was not as good as I had heard about. The samosas were the best thing on the menu. The portions were really small unlike traditional Indian servings. The naan was dry. The Mumbaitini - a ginger cocktail - didn't quite sit well with me. Having said that, the mango lassi was superb! Staff was polite too.
google avatar

Albert K.

Yelp
This is my go to Indian fare in Boston. The portions are great and all of their dishes are very authentic. We were able to get 15% off our bill as well for ordering online, which was a nice bonus. We got the paneer tika, saag, and aloo samosa chaat. They were all very good with the perfect spice level and seasoning. Highly recommend this place to anyone interested in Indian food in Cambridge area.

Yelp
The best Indian food In. The. U.S. Period. Ok, so I don't overstate it, I have had Indian in the Bay Area, North Carolina, Georgia, Los Angeles, Arizona, Nevada, including Las Vegas, and Texas. So the WHOLE U.S. may be an exaggeration. But..... this is incredibly good. Must add I'm an American kind of Indian food diner. I'm a chicken tikka masala, baingan bharta, saag paneer, mango corn soup, and naan gal who has learned to say very mild in Indian places despite my ability to handle American heat. So take that into account. I literally count the days between Boston trips when I can have it again. Heavenly. Go. Now.

Yelp
Warm ambience for a nice dinner, with lovely views of Harvard Square from the second floor. The decor evokes fine-dining but the feeling is relaxed. I enjoyed the following, all of which I recommend: 1. Mango lassi - sweet cool drink 2. Mulligatawny soup - a warm gently spiced lentil soup, nutritious and comforting! Unassumingly good! 3. Chicken vindaloo (medium spicy) with basmati rice - well-balanced flavors, very tasty! 4. Complimentary chutneys (onion, mint-yogurt, tamarind) with the crispy cracker I will return here to try more items from the menu!

Matthew S.

Yelp
Restaurant was very cute food was very delicious however the portions were wayyyyy too small for that price

Yelp
Came here with some friends and had a really wonderful experience. Friendly staff, great location, and really good food! The restaurant has two sides of all windows so you're able to see over part of harvard sq which is nice. They gave us papadam with chutney to start and then our main courses came out pretty soon after that. I had the aloo Gobi medium spice which was delicious and not overly oily like I've seen it done before. We also got the garlic naan which was great too.

Yelp
Came here for dinner for the first time on a Friday night. Hubby and I ordered the Aloo Samosa Chaat, Chicken Vindaloo, Shrimp Saag, and the Peshwari Naan. Total came out to almost $70 (not including tip). Our friends ordered a few extra dishes, as well. What's hot - Menu variety. Excellent. There's something for everyone- meats, seafood, vegetarians, vegans, desserts, breads, and drinks. It is a lengthy menu, so be prepared to spend some time perusing the options. However, one of our party is vegan and she did not have any issues, which was wonderful. - Quality. Delish! Definitely flavorful, well-seasoned, and spicy. All of us ordered our food spicy and we got that. All four of us have a pretty good tolerance for heat, so that we could all taste it and appreciate it is something of note. The sauce for the Aloo Samosa Chaat was flavorful and delicious. When the waiter came to clear the dishes of our appetizers, my husband held up his hand to ask the waiter to wait, so that he could clear the dish of the sauce. That says something! The shrimp in my shrimp paneer were all jumbo shrimp and they were nice and chewy, not rubbery, which is important. The chicken dishes were tender and flavorful. All the food was the tender. No complaints and definitely one of the better quality Indian restaurants we've been to. - Spice level. It's not easy to find any restaurant, let alone an ethnic restaurant, that can match our level/need for spiciness. This restaurant definitely has that, which we all noted and very much appreciated. - Portions. Pretty good size portions and definitely gets you full, with leftovers for later. Given that the food is a little on the pricey side, pretty good value for money. - Service. Excellent. We made a reservation and there were no issues. We arrived a little early and we didn't have to wait. When we ordered, we asked the waiter to split our tab between our group per couple. When our tab arrived, everything was calculated together, so we asked the waiter to make the correction. When he returned with the split tab, there were no mistakes. Kudos to our waiter for a pretty good memory! Anything we needed and/or asked for, we got. Management and staff checked in on us several times to ensure we had what we needed and the quality of the food was up-to-par, as well. - Health and safety. During this time of the pandemic, especially as health and safety guidelines are evolving, it is reassuring to see the staff take the precautionary measures that they do. We saw all wait staff wear masks. Furthermore, there are clear plastic dividers between all the tables that are by the side/edge of the restaurant. That's not a common practice I've seen in other restaurants, which is all the more reason why our group find it reassuring. - Location. With the exception of parking, which I address below, it's a pretty good location. There are other shops and restaurants close by within walking distance, which is helpful. For example, our group went to the gelato shop across the street after dinner. What's not - Price. Not the most expensive, but be prepared for the balance to be a fair amount, especially since you'll be ordering multiple dishes. Main dishes are over $20 per dish. Depending on how many are in your group and how much you order, you'll definitely be spending over $50 for a party of 2. - Parking. Not the easiest to find. Depending on the date and time you go, be prepared to look for street (metered) parking or park in a parking lot/garage nearby, which is what we did. We were glad we were able to find a spot in a nearby garage, but it was also pretty pricey. Point is to be prepared to spend time to find parking, pay for it, and be prepared to walk a decent amount. Final Answer Would be willing to come back, but mindful of the day of the week and time,

Yelp
Constantly looking for the best biryani and korma wherever I go. I ordered through Ubereats. The Maharaja is not that bad. Although with their dishes at $20+ per order I was excited it would be better than most. Anyways it was ok. Not the best. Somehow the Korma is a little too sweet and lacking richness and that full flavor. The Lhasa is too sweet too and not very mangoey. The servings are indeed ample though. I really wanted to give them a good review especially since I've heard the service is pretty good, but the food just did not make it to my taste.

Yelp
I did not think an Indian restaurant in the heart of a city would make such delicious Indian food! Usually you'd find these gems in the 'burbs but yay for The Maharaja, smack in the middle of Hahvahd Square. The only reason we decided to try it out was because we got a Nift for takeout. We ordered chicken lollipop, sham savera, chicken curry, and one garlic naan. First of all, I could not believe they had chicken lollipop. I don't think I've ever seen it on the menu in the US! It wasn't the same as that I've had back home but t'was tasty. Sham savera is another dish that I've not seen here. Spinach-cheese dumplings in a tomato gravy, yum. The chicken curry was delicious too and that naan was superb even after we reheated it. All curries came with a side of rice meaning we had plenty leftover for the next day. Fast forward to two weeks later and we're back at The Maharaja for round two of takeout. This time it's tandoori wings, paneer makhani, chicken vindaloo, plain naan, and baingan raita. All of it was great - personally the vindaloo had a strong whole spice taste (not chili spicy, the garam masala kind) and could have been a bit toned down, but I'd still say it was good. The tandoori wings were well-cooked and the paneer makhani was tangy and buttery! We can't wait to order again and try other variety of dishes. I'll add that their rates are higher than other Indian restaurants and I have a feeling it's because of the location. The taste and quality is high though! Also, if you dine in, please enjoy the beautiful decor - I only stopped for a minute to pick up my order, but it was gorgeous!

Yelp
We visited this place for a late dinner. We ordered for two biriyanis and chicken appetizers. Food quality was very ordinary. Unfortunately, the portions were not large but were served in very large vessels. Biriyanis had just no flavor. Even some buffet biriyanis are better than Maharaja's biriyanis. One thing we did not like that waiters pressurize to take expensive and unnecessary Lu extra dishes. Otherwise service was just normal The restaurant is in the second floor and ambiance was decent. Overall, this place is extremely overpriced. The food has nothing exquisite taste or flavor. It looks like the quality has dropped significantly. Don't recommend anymore.

Yelp
Staff was attentive. Nice location with floor to ceiling windows with views along two walls. The restaurant is on the second floor and it's not obvious how to get there from the outside but most entrances seem to get you there. We had garlic naan, paneer paratha, chicken tikka masala and lamb saag. All were excellent, especially the paneer paratha which we'd never had before and highly recommend! They ask what spice level you want on each dish from no-spice to mild and on. It's makes the menu items more approachable knowing that something isn't going to unexpectedly set your mouth on fire. This staple of Harvard Square is exactly what is expected. A nice white-cloth, sit-down dining experience with excellent food and service, which can be hard to find in this genre. Most Indian restaurants in the area have great food but tend to focus on takeout. Highly recommended. I hear they have an amazing lunch buffet so we will have to come back to experience that.l in the future.

Yelp
Located right in the middle of Harvard square. Does not get more convenient than that. Entrance is a bit tricky to find but worth it! The seating area/dining space is quite vast and pretty interesting. Wooden accents with white tablecloths. You sort of wonder if it's like a fine dining restaurant bc I could see ppl coming here for more serious occasions but the menu prices are quite reasonable, which is great! For students, it's a little on the $$-$$$ end bc the entrees are all $20-24 and with starters, or a drink, it'll probably end up being $40+ per person. The weekday evening was a crowd of friends, work dinners, dates, family gathering- totally a one size fits all kind of place. If you can get window seating, go for it! The dinner menu is quite expansive- but hard to know where to begin- lots of items sound similar so maybe best to check out reviews on here first to see what they look like as the menu doesn't show what any of the dishes look like. Ah, also liked that the food wasnt overly salted. Worth trying at least once! Would recommend to others.

Yelp
I got the Sham Savera (spinach and cheese balls in tomato cream sauce) and Keema Naan Bread (naan with lamb inside) both were great. The sham savera is something new and I got it hot! It was good amount of spicy. Loved the sauce that came with it. the naan bread was unique bc it had a layer of lamb meat inside. Delicious. I got the carrot cake dessert which I wasn't a fan of unfortunately. It was too many spices for my taste and I didn't enjoy it. Took away some stars bc I ordered and when I went to pick up 25 min later, they didn't even put my order in yet so I waited another half hour.

Yelp
This is by far the best indian food we have had since moving to Boston (which says a lot as my husband is Indian and his family cooks very well). We have not been to the restaurant but can attest that their takeout carries well, is efficient, and tastes great! Our staple order are veggie samosas, palak paneer, kadhai chicken, and dal makhani. the dal makhani has a smokey taste to it, which we never had before. at first bite, we weren't sure if we liked it. as we at it, it got better and better and now I definitely crave it. the paneer is soft and not rubbery. the chicken is cooked perfectly. we have yet to order other things off the menu (which we should because I bet it is excellent) but these are always the dishes order when we get indian take out anywhere. the only thing is their naan taste store bought and don't have that chew that we crave. so, I just make rotis to go with our food.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing!!! Love this place. I selected the "birthday" option for occasion under my online reservation I made... and they went all out with the singing and dessert with a candle- so cute! They really go out of their way to make you feel special. Amazing food. Great portions. Great ambiance... it's tough to find a really nice upscale Indian restaurant but this one was absolutely amazing. I'm sad though because now I wish I could eat here every day!!!

Yelp
Got delivery from here and it was way faster than they said, to the point that I wondered if we got someone elses food. I really loved the Aloo Tikki Chaat and would 100% get that again. The Saag Paneer was oily but delicious and the Gobi Kaju was a bit bland, so next time I'd get it more than mild. The paneer tasted like it had been fried in butter, which was unexpected but obviously delicious. For $5, I expected more than 1 garlic naan to come in the bag, so heads up if you want to share it (I still did, sadly for my tastebuds because it was also one of the highlights).

Yelp
My husband brought me home Butter Chicken, rice, and naan that he was given. We shared in when he got home and we both agree it is absolutely delicious. For starters that was the kindest thing someone has done for him and speaks volumes of the kind of people who run this restaurant. Thank you for your kindness. Secondly this is the best damn curry I've had since I visited some friends a while ago who make it just like this. I absolutely love curry and Indian cuisine and this just felt like a hug to my mouth. You are now my favorite place for curry.

Yelp
The best Indian food around, in my experience. It always tastes so good, the only downside is that it is so expensive in my opinion but it is worth it for a little treat every now and then.
