The Main

Consistently good. Menu reflects the kind of place it's trying to be - and the food is fast and consistent between visits, and that's from someone who gets there an average of once a year (I eat out twice a year these days, so this is my regular place). I like it.

Our group of 4 decided to go to Eltham for lunch and went to The Main, without making a reservation. I don't know that name of the fellow who looked after us but he was great, as were the other staff too. All the staff were friendly and provided excellent customer service. Our food was fantastic and large servings. We would recommend this restaurant and would definitely eat here again in the future.

Came for lunch on a Sunday! Not terribly busy. Lovely area in the back with loads of windows and light. It’s a shame the entrance is through the centre. We didn’t know this so came through the stairs from the main road and being with my grandma meant this wasn’t very convenient but now we know for next time! We ordered the calamari salad which was delicious, the seasoning and crumb on the calamari was on point! Loved the crunch and a hit of spice. We also ordered the Haloumi fingers, these were nice but presentation could be improved. Really liked the little figs included and the generous amount of honey that really made the dish come together but probably wouldn’t order it again. Friendly staff and food came out quickly! Would recommend for locals in the area to check it out.

I come here a lot after work and its always delicious! Fast service, and food always comes out hot. I never see anyone leave without a smile

Giving a 2 star for coffee, which was probably ly worth more than 2. The service was extremely slow and it wasn't busy. I ordered the salmon poke bowl which I may not have read on menu, but it came out with that aweful wild rice that is like eating half cooked bird seed. I wouldn't have got it. The salmon wasn't very nice either. But the avo was perfect. I wouldn't return here even though the coffee was really good. The prices are high (I do understand prices are going up) I'm always happy to pay when it's good food. I certainly wouldn't take a child here at their prices.

My mum and I visited the Main recently and we absolutely loved our visit! The restaurant is fitting out nicely with great decor, plenty of room and beautiful lighting which gives it a real cosy feel. We sat by the window and enjoyed the ambiance of inside. Staff were incredible and went above and beyond which was appreciated. The menu here is so good, you'll be sure to find a winner dish to suit your taste bud needs. We ordered the warm beef salad, linguine marinara, chocolate brownie and the creme brulee. I honestly can't fault anything, each dish so tasty with it's own different flavour combinations and the presentation was definitely on point. My short mac was made nicely too and was the perfection combination with the delish desserts. A must visit if you are in the area. Thanks for having us, can't wait to come back!

If i could give it 0 stars I would. As a professional food critic that just came in with family (was not critiquing), I had low expectations from what I have heard from customers, and from previous staff that have worked there. And those expectations weren’t even met, they were much lower than I thought. A young waitress (who I believed also made our drinks) came to serve us and approached us with this awful attitude, and the coffee she made my husband and I was atrocious. We then received our food which was the best part of the experience. We were then heading off and approached who I believed look like the owner from what I had heard, who was yelling at one of his employees that we could hear from our table. He disgustingly spoke to them and it was horrendous. I’m also aware your staff do not get breaks for their 7-8 hour shifts. Disgusting and illegal. Never coming back.

Was out Eltham one night and we needed somewhere to eat. I followed my nose and we ended up at Main a modern Australian restaurant / cafe. The wood fire pizzas we got were quite tasty. The volcano was flavoursome and my favorite however it's not something you'd call spicy. The service was lovely, the lady was friendly and attentive.
