Incredible Sunday roast, one of the best we’ve had in London. Great portions, reasonable price for what you get and location. Dessert not as good as the main but still very nice. Will come again!

We stumbled into the Mall Tavern with no prior knowledge that there was an epic beer festival on. It was one of the best afternoons spent with probably the greatest selections of beers. This will now be a pilgrimage annually with an overnight stay. Superb welcome, amazing staff, epic sausage rolls and everyone’s food looked delicious. We wish you were our local! We’ll be back

We have been coming here at least once every two months and has been our go to spot for the last year or so. Where do I begin, The food being absolutely incredible every time we go- consistently delicious - it is so hard to find. The meat is also halal which is an amazing thing to cater for, as it is so hard to find a good roast which accomodates this. The service is always top of the top and every waiter is genuinely extremely friendly and accomodating to anything we ask for. I booked a private room for my fiancees suprise birthday for 16 guests and it was so easy to book the room, and the entire process was extremely smooth. Also, what a gorgeous room! We had the privacy and lot of fun with the beautiful atmostphere of this pub. The staff were incredibly helpful and even helped me convince my fiancee to get him upstairs without him suspecting. The staff also managed the 16 of us, and did not forget about us upstairs- they would constantly come in and check if we needed refreshments. I could not recommend The Mall Tavern more, Hands down my favourite pub in the world!! All of our friends were also extremely impressed. Thank you again for everything

Excellent service! The fish and chips and scotch egg was great!! We loved the atmosphere, it was friendly and helpful on beer selections. Tad pricey but quality was worth it. Very cozy place and enjoyed our Friday night. It has a separate dining space and can accommodate small to large groups!! Highly recommend!!

Given I’d never really heard this place recommend in any articles/on social media I had low expectations, but honestly this place really impressed me! We went on Sunday and the roast was absolutely delicious - it’s rare every component of a roast is done so well but I have to say it was absolutely delicious. My only criticism is the cracking was a tiny bit on the chewy side and needed to be a little crispier which would’ve made cutting the pork easier. Regardless, it’s a great pub with delicious food - it was super buzzy and cosy when I went, would definitely return.

A typical pub. It looked especially lovely at Christmas. I like the stained-glass wall, candles, mirrors, tables, and the floor that creaks. The food is simple, and even the Sunday roast was mediocre, although I liked the chicken and a pint with it. But the toilets here are very sad (it's scary to go in). So overall 4 out of 5. You can come 😉

A great neighborhood feeling tavern. We made a reservation that afternoon for a Sunday roast that evening. They had some good kid menu options. We got the beef roast, chicken roast, first fry, and kids cheeseburger. Everything was amazing, the gravy was awesome, the meat delicious, the potatoes crispy and perfect, and the veggies were great. The fish fry was also solid. The staff was very kind and attentive. The beer list on draft was really good with a lot of drafts, English and other European beers. Desserts were also excellent. The price was not cheap but also not expensive, I felt like it was good value for the delicious meal we got.

Our first time back in a while and we found The Mall as friendly as ever. Even if you’re not a local you’re made to feel like one. Great selection of beers and wines and some great food made for a fab Sunday.

Delicious Sunday roast! We didn't have a reservation and were luckily able to be seated, this place was really busy and popular. We loved visiting at Christmas time - festive decorations abounded. But the best was the energy and vibe of our hosts and the owners. What a jewel!

I liked this place. We made a quick reservation for dinner and headed on over. The place wasn't too busy, and we sat at a lovely little table next to the window/patio door. We were in the mood for British food, and the Mall Tavern did not disappoint. We shared some Scotch eggs and a steak pie. My wife had some wine, and I had an old-fashioned cocktail. The food service, speed, and quality were excellent. This is a nice neighborhood location and a pub + vibe. It is highly recommended that you stop in and have a pint/ bite.

The Sunday Roast was terrific: slices of medium rare beef, Yorkshire pudding, crispy roasted potatoes, carrot, cabbage and scrumptious gravy. And, The Mall serves through late in the evening. The wine was excellent and very well priced. We received a warm, friendly welcome from Andy the owner. He was so cordial and welcoming. Please don't miss this charming, funky spot in Nottingham Hill.

Great food, great drinks, great staff, great time! Perfect pub to relax and enjoy food and drinks with friends or family.

One of our favorite spots to sit at for a beer, late night cap, and their food too was so yummy! We stopped here on our first stop after flying in and loved it! our bartender was super nice and was so helpful with the selection of beers they had. Their Daya beers on tap were soo good and this Sheppards pie was also delicious. We came back on another night and had their Yorkshire pudding and that was also fab!!

We came in today for the Sunday Roast, we have been waiting for weeks for our reservation and traveled 10+ hours to get here. We've heard incredible things so we were disappointed that when we arrived to our reservation, they had no more roast left. Unfortunately we will not be here next Sunday so we won't be able to try it. We ended up getting the fish and chips which were delicious. It comes with peas, tartar and a grilled lemon. It was very fresh, some of the best dish and chips I've ever had. I would definitely return but I wish they would've notified us about the roast ahead of time so we could've planned accordingly. We were so disappointed after traveling all this way for this specific location's Sunday Roast.

Phenomenal spot !!! Loved the food offerings, the ambiance, the service....EVERYTHING !!!! Brisket Croquettes, Shilston & Figs and the Shepherds Pie, all were delicious. I must say this find turned out to be perhaps my favorite place to dine in the Notting Hill area.

Amazing Sunday vegan roast and beer selection. Courteous staff. We had a great visit and will be back.

This was such a delightful find. We tried another nearby pub that lost our reservation, seated us, but had run out of many of their main dishes. It was near 7:00 pm on a Thursday night and we had a tired five year old in tow. We didn't have much hope for finding anything beyond tourist traps. But on a whim we walked down to The Mall Tavern, and not only did they accommodate us, the food and atmosphere was even better than we could have asked for. True neighborhood gem with locals enjoying pints, lovely architecture, good solid pub food that was not heavy and interesting enough to compete with some of the more talked about places. Perfect for couples and families. Lovely staff.

Great craft beer place just off Notting Hill Gate. Dark and moody interior a bit like Sun and 17 Cantons in Soho. Server was knowledgeable and helpful. Recommended.

Came here after the pub we wanted to eat at didn't serve pub food! We were seated right away by Natty the proprietor, who along with her hubby run the place. The menu featured gammon steak with an egg on top-my fav. But they were out of that and fish and chips having experienced a run on food! So we had the burger and chips. Both were very good-the chips were so fresh and crispy that we almost ordered another serving! We chatted with Natty for a bit- she's very sweet and recommended we return for their Sunday Roast! So a few of us booked a table and returned for the Sunday roast-and loved it! The reason for the four stars is because they have a dog in the restaurant and I'm not real excited about a dog in the kitchen. But the food and service were great and portions were large.

Great spot. A little hidden away. Had me a vegan burger here which was a delicious fried patty and some fries. The Sunday roast looked incredible but was told the meat was too chewy. Music was classic rock... Zeppelin, The Who etc. Great vibe. Great spot to bring mates where you want some beer, munch and to hear yourselves speak. Close to Notting Hill tube.

Very attentive staff and prompt service. Nice menu with classic and varied options. A good alternative to the nearby Victoria when you get poor service there. Very accommodating even though they were busy. I was happy I stopped in here when I needed the alternative! Worth a return.

Service was a little slow. But, I don't think the they were prepared for a huge rush during lunch. I loved the fish and chips and the beer selections. Suggestions- After visiting Kensington if you want a quick pint take stroll over. Moose Out

Fantastic food and service! Our servers, Nancy and Lois, were wonderful on a busy and loud Friday night. Everything we ordered was delicious, especially the welsh rarebit, fish and chips, and shepherd's pie. And they have a great selection of beers. We liked it so much we returned for lunch the next day. Highly recommend the Mall Tavern for a wonderful neighborhood pub experience!

Mt first visit to the Mall Tavern and have to say was really pleased. Most of all the craft beer selection is very good, amongst the best I have found in my many visits to London. The building is very cool as well and the beer keepers knowledgeable and very friendly. Tried a couple of starters as snacks and was pleased as well. Will certainly be a place I go back to in future and is also near the Notting Hill Gate tube stop.

I keep forgetting it's here with the Mall Tavern just around the corner from the main drag that is Notting Hill Gate. Every time I take a bus to Kensington I am reminded and recently spotted a sign alerting me to the fact that there is a beer garden. I remembered when a friend and I were looking for a relaxed drink on a hot Saturday evening. While the more obvious pubs are overflowing with locals and tourists, the Mall Tavern remains a well kept secret. We ordered from the impressive selection of craft beers and found a corner in the cosy beer garden. Couldn't resist the snack menu and will definitely return just to have another taste of those mac balls - genius, mac'n'cheese arancinas!

Terrible service and terrible food. We were a big fan, but this last experience made us vow to NEVER to go back. It took almost 2 hrs to get our food. We watched a table next to us that arrived 30 minutes later get their food before us. When we asked for an update, surprisingly it came out but every dish was ice cold. Who likes fish and chips completely cold? Yup, no one.

Outstanding. We arrived at an odd hour, jetlagged, and they could not have been more welcoming. The beer selection is fantastic, and the waiter was quick to point us in the right direction. The best fish and chips I've ever had, teenagers enjoyed their burgers. Also, the finest scotch egg I've had. Exceeded expectations. Thank you!

Visited Mall Tavern for dinner on 17 Aug, and had a wonderful dinner and beers. Shepherd's Pie, a chicken salad, and fish and chips were all very tasty, and the beer selection was comprehensive and well chosen. Staff is extremely friendly. Were I to be a London resident, I'd be a regular.

Great little pub just outside Hyde Park. Staff was very friendly and the waiter really knew his U.K. beers, which I appreciated. On the subject of beer, their selection was relatively diverse, with mostly craft local ales on draught, along with some imports from the U.S. and Scandinavia. Food was quite good, with a fantastic wedge salad, a great beer pie, and solid kids meals finished with some amazing honey ice cream. Would come back in a heartbeat.

we used the private room for my friends hen do and we could not have had a better night! the service was perfect! the food was great! the energy from the staff was gorgeous! especially KK!! Cocktails were so great! We had the best time! Would recommend to anyone!!!!

Popped in here for a pint and a scotch egg on a whim and wow did it deliver. Not only was the pint and scotch egg wonderful, but the service and full food menu was excellent too! The bartender (whose name we missed) was extremely helpful with her recommendations and suggestions for two tourists not familiar with the area. I would definitely go out of my way again to stop into this pub. Great food, service and drinks. Cheers!

Great Sunday roast!!!!! I enjoyed roasted pork, that was a huge chunk and of course really yummy.

Amazing pub! The staff was really really nice and helpful! The mac and cheese balls and the scotch egg are something from another world (i.e. AMAZING). The pie, the mac and cheese, the burger...everything we ordered on the menu was brilliant! No exceptions to this rule apparently!

Yeah, I think it has good to great food. On the most recent visit, they had a particularly interesting combination of pate. It was a feast fit for a king. Other favorites have included standards like pork belly and grilled fish, but theirs are a few steps above the norm. Gluten-free notes: They've always been happy to tell me what's in the food, and have even provided non-gluteny alternatives.

Great food! We had the fried macaroni balls as a starter and I got the Pork Belly Sunday Roast. Loved the atmosphere. Very casual hip pub with good beer selection.

Stopped in for a pint. Was disorganized. Not busy and While waiting saw two customers complain that drink was wrong or never got a drink order at a table. Tap had kicked and bartender still poured and served totally flat beer to a patron. Seems newer. Maybe they'll get it together.

Probably the worst pub experience we had in London. We waited two hours for our food and they brought the wrong dish then told us they could make the correct dish in 20 minutes but we could take the incorrect fish and chips. The manager said she would comp one of the 3 appetizers we bought in apology because we didn't want to wait for the correct meal. Then when the bill came they "comp-ed" the fish and chips we never ordered in the first place. If 0 stars were an option I would have given it.

Wandered in here looking for classic but delicious pub food. Was nervous as it was around 1pm on a Saturday and empty. But wow! Scotch egg was PERFECT, chicken pot pie best i've ever had, lovely salad and Bloody Mary. A++++!

Tucked away just south of Notting Hill Gate station, Mall Tavern is a perfect example of a gastropub. Semi-comfortable seating arranged around heavy wooden tables encourages you to sit down and relax long enough for a meal and a few drinks, but not to linger and nurse a pint for a few hours on a lazy Sunday. It has its quirks, for sure, such as the two baskets of crisps, one labelled "serious crisps" and one "funny crisps". What exactly the difference is I have no idea, but I appreciate the sense of humour. Service was on the top of their game with our waitress asking if I would like a drink before my butt even had a chance to introduce itself to my seat. I admit, I panicked a little at being asked for a decision so soon and said "I'll have what she's having" which luckily turned out to be a decent cider not any number of horrors (aka ales) that could have been there. The "she" was my friend, not a random girl just fyi. The menu isn't massive but provides 5-7 options for starters, mains, and desserts so more than adequate. I opted for the mushroom and chestnut pate as a starter, cow pie for the main, and sadly had to avoid dessert due to my Lent sacrifice. The pate was excellent with rich mushroomy flavour and a soft crunch of chestnut chunks mixed in. I found the creaminess of the chestnut really helped smooth the pate without giving it an oily slick taste you often get. I piled it on top of the provided flatbread and dug in. Other starter options around the table were deep fried brie with cranberry sauce (simple and tasty in small doses but a bit too much as a whole dish on its own), pork pie terrine (nutty pork terrine surround by a cold pastry crust - good by nothing noteworthy about it), and a tasting of carrot (carrot cake, with carrot soup, and something else carroty - didn't get to taste it as it was all the way on the other side of the table but looked fantastic). A note about the mains. The portion size is bloody huge. My cow pie (steak and ale filling) was about the size of my head and only tempered by the fact about a third was taken up by the marrow bone. The pie filling was brilliant and possibly one of the best steak and ale pies I've had. I would have liked the pastry to be a bit more flaky and too much of it was crusted on the edges of the dish and inedible. The seared bone marrow piled in the centre was also probably unnecessary and far too much on top of an incredibly filling dish. Tasty yes, but I couldn't eat more than a spoonful of it (the marrow, I knocked out the pie). Luckily, no one opted for dessert so my suffering was avoided but the sound of the sticky toffee pudding with homemade vanilla ice cream makes me want to go back to try just that. Other thoughts...the décor is nice, and you are definitely not rushed through your meal. The wait staff are attentive but not annoying, and it has a very open airy feel great for sunny days. Given the area, a great choice for an affordable tasty meal but as noted above, not for lounging around.

A pub added the word gastro in front of it so now it can charge crazy prices for food. Sure its better quality than your average place but still. Friends and I were popping in for a pint and maybe wanted to just grab some chips or a few snacks and it was just too much. To be honest the specialty cocktail menu looked tasty and it was just the names! Someone in the group recommended it and it was off on a side road, would not have walked by this place accidentally. They have a little teeny garden that is mostly covered by a stairwell, which actually was nice when it was raining and smokers still needed shelter. I've been told the mens bathroom is "cool", has an old radio playing music in it... k bye.

I had to laugh at my Sunday lunch at Mall Taven; easily the worst roast I've had in the 8 years I've lived in London. It was a bitterly cold day, and despite only walking the 10 ft between where the taxi dropped us off and the front door, we were all freezing cold so as you can imagine were looking forward to a roaring fire, or at the very least, a warm room. Well, it was almost as cold inside as outside, and on asking our waitress to turn up the heat she replied that "once it fills up in here it'll get warmer." Donning my coat, I ordered a beef roast, a bloody mary, and some chips (as did most of the table). Beef roast was cold, meat was strangely square, unbelievably tough, and all sides were either awful (roast potatoes were bizarrely large and basically inedible), freezing, or both. We were having a good time so didn't exactly want to harsh our day by sending food back, but seriously anyone who ordered the roast left if largely untouched. The waitress asked if we enjoyed our food, and it was then I decided to pour out my heart, applauding the chips, but held nothing back about the roast. Anyhow, after talking to her the manager saunters over, and we have to retell our disappointment (couldn't have the waitress just told the manager -- he's working but I'm having fun and don't particularly want to chat about shitty food to some dick). He doesn't apologize, and just walks off. In recompense they take 1 beef off the bill and comp all drinks (i.e. 3 non-alcoholic juice drinks and 1 bloody mary) -- might I add the process of deliberating how to reduce our bill takes about 5 times too long. We inform the waitress that we will not be paying for any of the beef roasts, but are happy to pay for everything else, including the drinks we'd drunk and enjoyed. She disappears for another 10 minutes, a bill with no beef roasts, but now with drinks! If you are still reading this, you can imagine my indignation when it takes her another 5-8 minutes to bring the card machine to pay. Not a single apology from any member of staff. Incredible. As we left, we noticed the table behind us had sent back their roasts as well. We chatted with them, and found out they'd sent them back 3 times already. Twas not a good day for the Mall Tavern.

Friendly, local pub off the main drag by Notting Hill Gate station. Popped in here for a post-cinema pint on a Friday evening and liked what I found. It was busy but not too rammed and they served Blue Moon and other interesting bottles and beers. The staff and clientele were in chipper moods and it made for a good pit-stop. The place is done up nicely with a modern feel. Not your typical locals pub. I hope I'm in the area again soon and can spend a little more time in here!

Quietly tucked away in one of Kensington's premier tree-lined streets (just off Kensington Church Street/Notting Hill Gate), sits a rather cosy pub called The Mall Tavern. Although I don't really frequent pubs that often (I don't drink for a start!), this is the one that I usually end up in for after work drinks. The Mall Tavern isn't particularly big but I've always managed to get a seat. The decor inside is modern and toilets upstairs are clean (important when us girls need a touch up!), and there is a separate eating area and the food is pretty good. Even if you decide not to eat here, this is still a good place to have a few cheeky drinks before heading off to the many restaurants in Notting Hill (I recommend Kensington Place, which is just across the road from The Mall Tavern). This pub is located on Palace Gardens Terrace, which is one of Notting Hill's most prestigious roads. If you need to get home via public transport then there is a bus stop on the opposite side of the road whilst Notting Hill Gate (Central, District & Circle Lines) Underground Station is just a short stroll away, and when the weather is good (providing you don't spend all night in the pub!), you can go for a romantic stroll in Kensington Gardens :-) http://www.themalltavern.com

Great London Pub if you are traveling from the states. Ben was an awesome host, and we couldn't help but come back day after day during our stay here. Great beer selection and delicious food. Service by far the best around. Highly recommend.

Ended up here on Christmas Eve with my family because everything else was either closed or booked. It was a great find. Nice staff, real good food and excellent friendly neighborhood pub vibe!

Not the best place if you're looking for a traditional English pub. They only have two beers on tap. (Although they do have quite a good selection of bottled beers). But if you're looking for a good meal then it's worth a try. We were there on a Sunday and most of us opted to have the Sunday roast. It was a pretty generous portion of roast lamb with several tasty sides including roast potatoes, mashed pumpkin, fried spring onions and a Yorkshire pudding. All covered in gravy of course. No meal envy here. They also have a brunch menu and although we didn't partake in this, the dishes going to other tables looked fantastic. The Mall Tavern is away from the traditional Portobello Market route so I think it would be a great option for a Saturday brunch. We'll definitely be giving it a go in the near future. Stay tuned

This place has had a SERIOUS change, inside and out, and for the better. It really does deserve 5 stars. Whoever made the changes, knew exactly what they were doing, and what to do. The beer selection is incredible for a pub, and really extensive. Some classics, craft beers, IPA's and stouts, with a HUGE amount on tap! About time for a pub! The food is great and really tasty. The buffalo chicken wings are so good, fresh and crispy under all that sauce! The scotch egg is delicious. I've been here on a Sunday too, and the Sunday roasts look mouth-watering (monstrous Yorkshire Puds'). The interior is a little modern, cosy yet spacious, more cleaned up, still maintaining a classic pub vibe. The new interior definitely has a younger, more hip vibe to it. A perfect pub to catch some drinks and food in the area. Staff are friendly, good service.

Love this place. I spent about a month living nearby and went back multiple times. Which says a lot when you have so many options in London. The food is great, fantastic beer options, staff is lovely, and the garden is a perfect use of space. The puddings are the tops, which was unexpected for a bar.

Mall Tavern is a smaller, cozy pub with a cool, modern vibe tucked around the corner from Notting Hill Gate / Embassy Row. If the constant crowd in there isn't a good enough indicator, just make a booking for a Sunday Roast to see for yourself. The roast (we had both the roast beef and roast chicken) was delightful, with a great selection of beers on tap. We've gone back for lunch times since, and food was also great --- French Onion Soup and the Pie being our faves. Tip would be to make a booking, as on Sunday it is crowded. And don't expect an isolated booth all to yourself --- Mall Tavern is one of those pubs packed with tables and stools, which is charming and neighborhood-like to me, but could be crowded and possibly overwhelming to others who just want a quiet bite.

The bigger rat I've ever seen in my life was here, in the beer garden. Soo disgusting. Food menu hadn't so many options, but considering the rat it's better don't order any food.

Really good food! Enjoyed a nice steak and ale pie, followed by sticky toffee pudding. Best pub food in this part of London! My second trip was sitting at the bar enjoying couple pints. Good beer and good service.

Went to the Mall Tavern on my last night in London and couldn't have made a better decision. Good food, great beer, friendly and knowledgeable staff. It also has that warm, lived-in vibe that any great tavern should have. I wound up ordering way more food and beer than I'd originally intended because I was having such a great time and could have spent far longer there if I didn't have a 7 am flight to catch. The sticky toffee pudding is fantastic. Will definitely be back whenever I'm in London again. Thanks!

So I was looking for a place to meet some American friends on a Sunday night - and the Mall Tavern had the right opening hours. I must have walked past it zillions of times without realising it was a restaurant - but I'm now very glad I've discovered it. The standout dish was the gorgeous soda bread which arrived warm with a large scoop of butter - so good we shared 2 between us before the food arrived and I asked for another one to take home for the next day's breakfast. (quark and apricot jam, if you're asking...) Back to dinner. I'd seen the chicken kiev recommended but I'm not really into fried food - but one of my friends had it and gave it around 7 out of 10. Her brother had the cow pie - huge...and yes, the pastry was lovely, I nicked a bit from the side to jazz up my chicken salad. Now I've never ordered a salad in a restaurant in my life - but I couldn't see anything else on the Sunday menu which I fancied - it was better than I thought, with warm leeks and chicken breast to provide the excitement among the bits of lettuce. I'll never really get the whole lettuce thing. All crunch and no substance. Anyway I managed to get some cranberry sauce - home made! - on the side which helped. Shockingly there was no dessert I liked - minus point - but my American friends were introduced to the concept of arctic roll, by way of some rather inventive creations (although wisely they didn't take up the waiter's recommendation of a curry variety. There's experimentation, and there's taing things too far...) The decaff coffee is best avoided. Otherwise - we had a lovely evening and it was just the right place for a slightly chilly, damp English summer's evening.
