The Mamou is supposed to commemorate Chef Wayne's original Big Mamous Cajun creole restaurant. While the ambiance is welcoming, the food left you questioning, "where is the flavor and taste many of us grew to know and love?" The Mamou dishes were missing the "umph". The calamari appetizer was pretty good with good crisp and spice, but the corn chowder soup, the Etoufee, and Cajun pasta all fell short of what it should have been. Maybe Chef Wayne can stop by and remind the cooks in the back of how to season the old Creole Cajun 'Big' Mamou way.

My Lunch Visit to Big Mama’s Yesterday, I had the pleasure of checking out Big Mama’s new restaurant in downtown Worthington, and it was a really nice experience. I loved the ambiance cozy, stylish, and full of charm. The service was okay, but the food definitely stood out. I ordered the Cajun pasta, which was packed with flavor and had a nice spicy kick. I also got the bourbon cheese bread rich, cheesy, and slightly sweet. We also shared some Cajun fries, which were crispy and perfectly seasoned. Overall, Big Mama’s is a great spot for comfort food with a Southern twist. I’ll definitely be back

Food is very inconsistent. The plate the food is served on. The way the food is prepared. The taste. I order the etouffee every time I come as I’m a creature of habit. Everytime I have it, it tastes significantly different. The first time I had the etouffee it was great and I’ve been chasing the high since. The Oysters Worthington, however, are incredible.

Had a great night last night at The Mamou. Service was great, the restaurant looked amazing and the food was out of this world. When you walk in, you are greeted by this stunning bar with round bump outs that almost make it feel like you're sitting at a table. It's great for a few friends to get together! As you make your way into the dining room, off in the distance, you can see the service window and the kitchen on full display, and they were hustling. We got the four dishes listed, a few signature cocktails and the night was amazing.

Beautiful restaurant with friendly and attentive staff and the most incredible chefs. Great atmosphere and a big beautiful bar. The creole mussels are out of this world good. We cannot wait to return to this beloved local gem. This menu is from Springfield Jazz Fest, please note it may have been limited due to this reason and could be different outside of this event.

Outstanding food! Chef Wayne delivers again! Great Southern Creole/Cajun spot. The food and drinks are on point, prices are reasonable, staff is friendly, and the interior is clean and modern looking with great art. Whether you are a first timer or a returning Mamou's customer, do yourself a favor and stop in.

I was so excited to learn that they were reopening, it was always one of my favorite restaurants, but now that I work downtown I've been eagerly awaiting them reopening. I walked over after work and hopped in line, which I thought was a great sign for opening day. The staff were quick and efficient in seating everyone, I picked a seat at the bar since I was solo dining. I ordered the red beans and rice, and I was pleasantly surprised, I felt like I was back in their old location on liberty St, although the atmosphere reminds me of eating in New Orleans. I can't say enough about my experience, I look forward to my next meal here!

The Mamou – Wow, What Can I Say? It’s hard to live up to the original Big Mamou’s… but this place does it! Honestly, I’d say it’s right on par with the original. Located in the heart of downtown Springfield, the ambiance is absolutely wonderful—inviting, warm, and full of character. But the real star here is the food. Top-notch flavors, perfectly done. I already can’t wait to go back! Pro tip: Call ahead. This place is going to be a hit!

Yelp
The Mamou is such a great start, very promising. We had the Cajun Pasta (absolutely amazing), the Papa's Porch Chop (very good, and the bacon jam on top was mind blowing), the Thunder Thighs chicken app (almost like I remembered, and I think the only difference is that there was just less of the spicy cream sauce on it than in the olden days), and the chicken and spinach cakes (insanely tasty, I would eat a barrel full of those). And the Sazerac was a great cocktail. For the "porch" chop, it was tasty, but tough, to cut with the bone. Perhaps the point is a rustic porch feel, and the flavor was there. But I wasn't able to get all the meat off without picking it up and looking like a crazy monster gnawing on a bone. Honestly, no real complaints at all, would just love to see some other old favorites hit the menu (particularly the Bayou Meatloaf, and some more new dishes - both Cajun and latin. We will absolutely be going back.

Yelp
It is my distinct honor and pleasure to be the first Yelp reviewer for the legendary remix of Mamou!!! Ivan you have outdone yourself. First I will tell you Wayne Hooker is a perfectionist. For Ivan to take this icon to this level is divine and genius. The food is, dare I say, better than before! We had a rum punch that the bartender made up on her own. Delicious. It's the only picture I took because after the drink I fell in love again. We ordered the cheesy bread. I had the red beans and rice with sausage and chicken. My table mate had the etuffee with chicken and shrimp. We shared the banana Foster for dessert. Welcome back Mamou! We celebrate your return. P.S I must talk about this space! We all remember the limited tables and lines out the door. None of that. I even peeked online and they'll even take reservations. Kudos and I will see you soon.

Yelp
The place has been open for a month & it seems it's really gone better than before especially deeming it has the same food options as before but it's even better topped & oh yeah the place also has a full liquor license plus staff can make you whatever you are hoping for. Service is very on point (ran into a couple of ones from the Liberty Street restaurant) and they even had beer really impressed. I opted for simple tap water (no ice even though weather was HHH) and my entree was a ribeye/shrimp BBQ Mamou & dessert was a chocolate bourbon pecan pie & everything was nailed right (bartender made suggestion on how ribeye was for her & took her advice). Ambience is really great & you actually see Bourbon Street in NOLA via a can of sorts and music is still NOLA and maybe they'll include zydeco (for the suggestion box).

Yelp
Food was good but not hot ( temp) order soup which was good but came out after our dinners were served, wives cancelled theirs. Service was ridiculously bad Food seemed like it was made up long in advance The old place was really good, this one not so much..... Very disappointed!!!! You guys need to do a much better job.
