Google
The only place we could find that was open around the Fourth of July. So we were grateful, that more than coffee shops were open. The service and the ambiance were on point, however for the place to be so fancy the food in my opinion was diner quality food. While the prices weren’t like outrage, I had more flavor in that jam and toast than I did anything else. The eggs lacked flavor but were cooked perfectly, the grits had no flavor at all which was super disappointing. The wait staff raved about the grits. The chicken and waffles weren’t bad but I wouldn’t order it again, the flavor profile was basic. I wouldn’t definitely go back just for a drink and a good conversation with a plus one. But there aren’t too many things I would wya again from the menu.

Hello Manship Team, I’m a regular guest and have always enjoyed my visits, but I was very disappointed with my recent experience. My usual steak and eggs, ordered medium rare, was served almost completely raw. This was both unappetizing and concerning for my health, especially since I had already eaten a few bites. I chose not to have it redone or order anything else. I do want to thank Max and Destiny for handling the situation professionally and with understanding. However, I feel this experience warrants follow-up to ensure it doesn’t happen again and to address my concerns as a loyal customer. I hope we can find a way to make this right, as I’d like to continue dining here in the future. Thank you, Sahbryn

It is always a pleasure to visit this location. Flesh salads, delicious gumbo, and the fried green tomatoes are what life is all about. The service was good but could have been better. If you are in the area you would be cheating yourself if you did not partake.

So out of my travels across the country, this has easily been one of my top 5 experiences. First and foremost, our server, Joe, made this a wonderful experience for all of us. If everyone worked like this man, the world would be a better, and much more entertaining place. 1. The food- the smoked wings and the charcuterie board were fantastic. Perfectly cooked and displayed with expert skill. Then for our entrées, the fried oysters, Philly cheese steak pizza, vegetable pizza, and the salmon salad; they were fantastic. They were clearly made by a chef who knows their ingredients and is an expert in their craft. Then finally, the dessert, a slice of pecan pie, which was crisp, fluffy, and perfectly cooked. 2. Service; so again, back to Joe. He was attentive, entertaining, polite, and knowledgeable about the menu and drinks. If they get a few more of him on staff, they'll be in business forever. As a veteran of the service industry myself, my hat's off to you. 3. The atmosphere is impressive. While is simple, it clearly surpasses the rest of the local eateries and diners in Jackson. The music is appropriate and at just the perfect volume for you to have a conversation or just sit and enjoy your meal in peace. Overall, this is one of my rare perfect reviews. If you're in Jackson and you don't stop here, you're missing out.

I got the grilled salmon with spinach for the meal and apple pie a la mode. Everything was perfect. I was promptly seated inside. Service was quick. The price was a bit high in my opinion.

Update: I've been here many times since, and the service has been great. No complaints The food was really good but the service was terrible. I ate her a while ago and it was my first time. My waitress ,Dorothy, had an attitude the entire time. It was like she knew me but I’ve never met her before. I ate here with my sister and Dorothy was pleasant to her but rude to me. She didn’t greet me or look at me. I placed my cup at the end of the table so she could fill it but she only filled my sister’s cup and then walked off. I don’t know what the problem was but she’s an older woman so I was very respectful. The food was really good, so I will return and hopefully have a better experience.

If you like bourbon, this is an approved bourbon distributor. Our waitress Tamika was amazing. I took my parents and my family, to celebrate here for my mother’s birthday. She turned 60 this weekend. The food was fantastic. The kids pizza is legit a pizza that can feed three children lol I order the salmon with spinach, my son had a cheese pizza, my wife had the veggie pizza, my father had the blackened catfish, and my mother had regular catfish, both with fries Highly recommend the dessert with pecans and ice cream. And it is worth it. I highly recommend this place !

Google
I discovered The Manship thanks to Resy and American Express. The location is very convenient, inside of a major hospital complex and is quite popular with the doctors, nurses and medical staff from the buildings. Parking was easy, and there was no wait to be seated. Happy hour can get very busy at the bar. Prices are fairly reasonable and the cocktails were fantastic food was delicious with excellent flavor. The staff was friendly and attentive. Easily the best restaurant in the neighborhood and area. Classy and good atmosphere. Highly recommended.

Yelp
Jackson and me go together, real bad. I love their oysters and crab claws! The service is very accommodating. I try and go every time I'm in town

Yelp
Terrible. I am mad at Neek and Shane because this place sucked so bad, and they wrote such great reviews in the past. We are not friends any longer.... ;) Now that I look back, their reviews were several years ago and I should have done more due diligence on my own. But.... All of the other recent reviews are good too. So, you all now suck, LOL. Hell, it's been a decade since Shane wrote his review. Covid and the collapse of normal society as a whole has occurred since then. Also, it's Jackson MS, so you can just subtract stars for that as a rule. This place is so freaking tired it may fall asleep and never wake up again very soon. Every inch is dusty, dirty, and run down. Ceiling tiles have stains and dirt all over. I'd hate to see what the interior of the HVAC ductwork looks like. Furniture is shot, carpets are gross, ewww. Even the staff is tired. I'm pretty sure they are running a day care out of here as well. Multiple employees were hanging in the corner booth near the expo area with several children, infant to toddler ages. I even saw one girl ringing in orders holding a baby. My server was a dude named Joesph. He is a quantity over quality type guy. Don't believe me? Ask to sit in his section. You'll see! When he approached me for my order, I asked, "how are the pizzas?", to which he replied "pretty good". That's a big red flag for me so I asked, "what about the lasagna", his reply, "you get way more food with the lasagna". I could give zero shits about how much food it is dude. I was actually going to order an appetizer and another item for dinner. He completely killed that vibe with his "downselling" of the menu. I regretfully got the lasagna, but saw a pizza come out while I was waiting, and feel as if I dodged a bullet there too. I should have just gotten up right then, paid for my food that hadn't arrived, and headed somewhere else. Lasagna arrives and the dish is broken with a sharp metal edge exposed. Nice. Goes right along with all of the other broken ass themes. I tried to eat it. It was so gross that I gave up after two bites. I tried to mix it up as it was just sloppily added to the broke ass skillet. Nothing could help this mess. Terrible! Few minutes go by and ol' Joe comes by to check on me. He sees my uneaten food and asks "how is it" to which I laughed and replied "fine, but I'm done". He asked if I wanted a box, to which I again just laughed... This dude knew I didn't like it, and just didn't care. This sums up the entire place honestly. He brings the check, I pay, and go to Steak & Shake to actually eat something before bed. Never again.... Don't think it will matter though. It won't be here in two years... '25 - 23/111

Yelp
We were visiting Mississippi for football games so we decided to check this place out it. It did not disappoint. Great service and atmosphere. Food was delicious. We will be back. The pasta and salmon was so yummy.

Yelp
Yessss!...The food was delicious, and the restaurant was busy. The ambiance was modern and artistic. I enjoyed an iceberg salad, paired with a blackened chicken sandwich, fries, and a riddle me this drink. The delicious fries tasted like truffle fries, and the riddle me this drink was stellar. The chicken sandwich was dry and small, but it hit the spot. This restaurant is connected to Baptist Hospital, so be prepared to see staff dining, including surgical staff.

Yelp
The menu shows almost no respect for people who want to reduce their consumption of, or avoid, animal-based foods. Almost every item contains animal-based ingredients, and you need to ask to find out. Our server inquired into the possibilities and came back to tell us that some of the vegetable sides could be oven-broiled instead of sauteed or fried in butter or meaty oil, as a special accommodation.

Yelp
I met a friend on yesterday for brunch at Manship. This is a staple in the Jackson area. During the time we went, it wasn't crowded at all. My friend started off with a pomegranate mimosa and we decided to order the fried crab claws. These came out piping hot and were very delicious. I ordered an Irish Coffee and it was really tasty. We really couldn't decide on what we wanted for our main dishes, so we settled on a variety of appetizers. We ordered the fried green tomatoes and smoked tuna dip. We enjoyed both items. Overall, we had a pleasant dining experience.

Yelp
This was my first visit. This place was suggested by a friend back in dc it did not fail to impress. The bar is impressive and service 5 star.

Yelp
Freaking delicious! I was in town on a business trip and Manship Wood Fired Kitchen came highly recommended. We started the evening with some of the cocktails which were very tasty but I can't recall which ones we got. We decided to order a bunch of items for the table so we could try as much as possible. For appetizers, we went with the calamari and the smoked tuna. For our entrees, we got the margherita pizza, smoked brisket pizza, three grouper fish over polenta (it was the special for the night). We got an array of side dishes - collard greens, squash & zucchini, and Mac & cheese. We thoroughly enjoyed every item we had and would gladly dine there again!

Yelp
As always I enjoyed an exquisite meal from Manship. This is our official quick date night option and per usual they did not disappoint. We had redfish, salmon, and I tried the fried green tomatoes with lump crab meat so delicious! We arrived 45 minutes before closing and still received excellent service.

Yelp
I don't write many reviews, typically reserved for restaurants that move me in a particular positive or negative way. Manship gets it! The Comeback salad with lemon vinaigrette, you will surely enjoy! Great job at the Manship!

Yelp
Out of town, again on business, looking for a good place to eat (and have a drink). Well, I landed on The Manship Wood Fired Kitchen. I usually sit at the bar because I'm by myself. Anyway, the bartender (Angela) is knowledgeable on bourbons (what I like). She didn't treat me like I asked stupid questions. Believe me, I asked a lot. I tried her old fashioned and Manhattan (a perfect Manhattan is what I like). Both were very good. I usually make my own at home and love them so I compare to those. They have a great bourbon/rye selection and other spirits - very extensive. I had the Fisherman's style red dish which is blacked. It comes with cauliflower. Dinner was excellent. I ordered the recommended pecan pie cobbler. I'm not a fan of cobbler. This crust is a cornbread crust. Oh my gosh. Trust me on this. (I know you don't know me from Adam to actually trust me, lol) It was amazing. If you like pecan pie and are a connoisseur of it, you will love this. I really have zero negatives about this place. Not the food or service or anything else. Everything was excellent. Visit this place if in the Jackson area. Obviously bar tenders change and so do servers but this place is worth a visit. Do it!!

Yelp
We planned for dinner at The Manship because we ate here last year during a stop over in Jackson and really enjoyed it. Unfortunately, this time disappointed us. We ordered the focaccia as an appetizer which is still fantastic. I asked the server what the market price was for the crabclaws and they said around $20. We ordered those and they were just okay. My spouse and I split the sausage pizza, and it was not noteworthy and more like anything you could get in the frozen section at the grocery. We also got the side of squash and zucchini to get some veggies in. They were a bit soft bland despite the spice. My daughter ordered the chicken tenders, and they looked and tasted as delicious as last time! When the bill came, the crabclaws were $26-27ish, which I would have opted out of especially considering we were on our way to Biloxi. I'm not sure why the server could not have checked if they did not already know the market price.

Yelp
The food was DELICIOUS!!! I am trying to eat a little healthier this year, especially when I travel for work. Mississippi has a lot of cool spots and this one did not disappoint! The service was fast and great, the staff is very nice, the cooks are amazing! I had the garlic butter Salmon with spinach and the truffle fries. The Salmon was cooked to perfection! It has this perfect golden brown crust at the top and the inside was juicy and soft. Squeeze lemon on top mixed with the garlic butter OMMGGG!!!! It was so tasty and healthy minus the fries & butter lol! Hey i skipped out on dessert which is a huge win for me! The place inside is certainly a cool vibe and ambience is perfect for any occasion! Check this place out!

Yelp
Everything was pretty good.. I guess someone the whole staff knew came in at the table Next to us so the staff kept coming to visit and talk with them so not as attentive as usual I guess but still weren't bad... the bread and olive oil shareable (I forget the name) was incredibly bland though

K W.

Yelp
Everything I've ordered has been super delicious. No bland food here! And the outside dining area is great.

Yelp
Outstanding from the moment we walked in to the hostess that were just wonderful to our amazing server and wow ... the food! The wine! My husband had the Gumbo (incredible) and shared the Southwestern Spring Rolls which went very fast. Both items were perfectly balanced with unique flavors outside of how they are normally prepared. Bravo! We then moved into the Wood Fire Margherita pizza with sausage and the Creole Pasta. Absolutely delicious! I wished I lived here, I would come here more often. If you live here, come here! We happily ate too much

Yelp
We ate a beet salad, roasted brussel sprouts & a seasonal pizza. Before the food ever came to the table we had a already had a great experience. The atmosphere was welcoming. We loved the decor. Our waitress was absolutely the most welcoming lady. She gave us suggestions and helped us decide what to have.
google avatar

Jackie G.

Yelp
Had the best experience- wonderful service to go with a delicious Charcuterie Pizza! Big Cobb Salad was fresh and plentiful.

Yelp
Great choice for our one night in Jackson. We had the Caesar salad with an excellent housemade dressing and we split the lasagna which was also wonderful. We do not live in Jackson, but if we did, this would be our routine visit for Italian.

Yelp
The staff was horrible. I hate restaurants that charge auto gratuity for a certain number of people especially when the service is terrible. My friend was at the restaurant at least 10mins before we arrived and we still had to wait 10mins to be seated. Then the waitress was not friendly at all and gave off a nasty vibe. She seemed hostile and perturbed. I hate saying people are racist and I try my best to look over that type of behavior but I couldn't help but feel that way. My group kept calling it out but this was the vibe that we felt. The staff also gave a hostile vibe when asking questions. I want to say that if I order a plate of pasta that's $20 and a plate of shrimp and grits for $26. The cheapest is the grits. Why is my plate of grits not filled with grits like my pasta plate is filled with pasta? The why am I paying $19 for a sliver of fish? $32 to treated with hostility. Oh yeah, not to mention the plate of lemons being slung onto the table and forgetting to place the to go order.

Yelp
The food was phenomenal! the customer service was amazing as well our waitress Mackie was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu! The ambiance was very nice and clean.
google avatar

Ashley B.

Yelp
The food was sooooo good here and they have amazing healthy fresh sides for those looking for a lighter fare. I got the chicken with zucchini and cauliflower. My only critique is the BBQ sauce was a bit too sweet for my liking. I'll be back!
google avatar

Todd B.

Yelp
We found this place on Yelp. It was fantastic. We had the margarita and BBQ rotisserie chicken pizzas and the Cajun pasta. All three were so good it is hard to pick a favorite. If you are in the area, check out The Manship!

Yelp
This is a nice restaurant that is located right outside the Mississippi Baptist Medical Center. They have bar seating with full bar service, a dining room, a private room near the restroom and patio seating with huge televisions all through the area. There is a large parking garage right next to the restaurant where you can park for free. The staff there is very friendly and our server was awesomely amazing. She was very efficient, attentive and was on point. She managed my group of 9 like a boss. The tables on the patio have these neat little fly fans that are meant to keep flies away. The menu there is packed with stuff like fish, pizza, burgers, pasta, and salads. I ordered the blackened catfish with fries. I took about 10 to 15 minutes for me to get my food, which was not bad with a group of 9. The food was very good. The fries and fish were both flavorful and tasty. They also work on the foods presentation, which shows that they take pride in it. I also got a key lime pie for dessert (compliments of me checking in via the Yelp app). It was very delicious. I am still thinking about it as I am typing this review. One of the members of my group had an issue with their order, and without prompting our server took care of the issue and made it more than right. That says a lot when a server fixes an issue without having to make a big fuss. I highly recommend checking this restaurant out. I am glad my group decided to eat here. I hope I am able to make it back here soon.

Yelp
Soo disappointing, this was the second time I've had a sub par experience for lunch and I will not be returning. I ordered the shrimp and grits which is a $26 dollar lunch with a scoop of grits and 5 shrimp, nothing else on the plate. The grits came out cold with no seasoning and while the bbq sauce was fine the shrimp themselves were overcooked, covered in cayenne and too spicy to eat. My husband ordered the pork chop which he said had no flavor and the gravy had onions in it, which he can't eat. When we inquired why it was not listed on the menu as having onions the response was that it's just in the gravy. The gravy that was poured all over his food. We both left hungry.
google avatar

Jen C.

Yelp
Tasty dinner! I started with the oysters which were ok but very gritty. I'd probably not order them again. Had the bbq pizza which was tasty - probably wouldn't order again but no real complaints. The chocolate cheesecake was delicious.
google avatar

Blake T.

Yelp
My family and I recently celebrated the UMMC Med School match day at The Manship, and it was a great choice for the occasion. The only downside was the slightly odd setup, as the restaurant is connected to the Baptist hospital. The dinner menu struck a good balance between variety and simplicity. However, the drink menu was overwhelming, with a staggering 72 pages of beer, wine, and spirits to choose from. It took me a good 20 minutes to make my decision, but it was worth it. I ended up choosing neat pours of Wild Turkey Rare Breed and Woodford Reserve Double Oaked, both of which were fantastic. We started with the Crawfish Beignets and Crab Claws, which were both delicious, although the beignets were a bit cold. For my main course, I played it safe and went with the Steak Frites. I couldn't decide between chimichurri or butter on my steak, so I asked for both. The result was amazing! In summary, I would recommend The Manship.
google avatar

Yelp
Such an awesome place to eat with friendly staff & awesome service. The food was amazing and the atmosphere was great as well!!
google avatar

Yelp
YES!! Not pictured is their fabulous mimosas that can be ordered by glass or carafe! The salad was heavenly, it does come loaded with dressing which I personally love but if you don't like that definitely order on the side (homemade blue cheese dressing is my fav) and the platter was phenomenal, the three cups were honey butter, whipped feta, and jam and the bites were PERFECT!! Such a perfect brunch! Our waitress was also very sweet because it was definitely a crazy morning, but she rocked her last table!!
google avatar

Dawn M.

Yelp
Haven't done lunch at Manship in a while so I decided to stop by. Wanted to sit on the patio but the wind was too disrespectful today. Seated quickly and less than 5 minutes later, my server, Tamika W, was there to take my order. I have tried a few of the sandwiches on the lunch menu but my favorite is the redfish wrap. I switched out the fries for the Spanish home fries. The Spanish home fries were a little different than what I remembered as they didn't have the salsa-like stuff on top before. But these were good. Still have a little kick to them and very crispy. The redfish wrap is just as good as always. Wasn't dried out and the accompanying sauce complimented the fish well.

Yelp
This place is great! We ended up going here, due to a longer wait at another place. The food was delicious, and the staff was friendly from the front to back of the house. The bar was AMAZING! It was my first time seeing a bar this full and tall. Can't wait to visit again and try more things.
google avatar

Karsten B.

Yelp
With a shortage of classy dining spots in the greater Jackson area, this has been our go-to when we're in town. We stick to some basic dishes, such as salads and pizzas. I've had the Caesar while my wife has enjoyed the Cobb. Both are very good. I'm a stickler for tasty Caesar dressing--has to be creamy, garlicky and cheesy (some places taste like straight mayo or are too thin or lemony). Theirs is a good mix. I enjoyed the barbecue pizza. It was fresh and the ingredients were well-distributed. Service is always awesome here as well and the atmosphere is classy and comfortable. We've never had to wait for a seat, although I don't think we ever have anywhere else in the Jackson area, which is a welcome treat for us being from California where everywhere is a crowd and a 30-minute wait.
google avatar

Tam S.

Yelp
We dine here each time we're in town and the experience has been stellar, from the well crafted food and service to the ambiance of the place. Walking into the restaurant and seeing the impressive old world feel of the bar already sets the tone. And of course, they have a bible size book for wines and liquor. Each time we dine here, the staff is attentive and goes the extra mile to see that we have what we need. I'd say that this is one of my favorite spots in town. It just has it all when it comes to fine dining.

Yelp
I always enjoy a great meal especially brunch. The mimosa and bellini are my favorite. Service is always impeccable and the atmosphere is top notch.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious and wonderful service! Took clients out for dinner (large group of 12) and had aka great experience. Everything from cocktails to our dinner was great. Service was stellar! Love the vibe of this place. Definitely recommend.

Yelp
Lovely vibe with a lovely staff and delicious burbon. I always look for new spots to try when i come home from Texas and this place is now one of my favorites.

Yelp
The Manship is absolutely my new favorite spot in Jackson! Food: I went for brunch and everything I tried was amazing. Our table ordered shrimp and grits, waffle flight, steak and eggs, and a couple of pineapple mimosa carafes. Everything was amazing! I'm picky about shrimp and grits, but these were perfect. The waffle flight is a waffle cut into four pieces. Each piece is dressed differently. My favorite slice of the waffle was the peanut butter and bacon. Steak and eggs were great as well. I honestly can't pick a favorite. I'd say try all three. I'll be back to check out the short rib. Atmosphere: It's cool. It's a restaurant. It's not a day party vibe or anything. There is indoor dining, bar seating, and a patio. There are TVs and a fan on the patio. It's clean and airy. They are practicing social distancing (except for at the bar, they're packed like sardines). Reservations are recommended. Service: Great, no issues. Overall: the food is great!

Yelp
Great place and ambiance, the waiter was friendly and the food was great. Would definitely come back for that BBQ chicken.

Yelp
a really standout meal from start to finish, from service to food. we were driving from new orleans to memphis and stopped here for lunch and found it to be one of the best meals we had on the entire trip. the salads: incredible. i had the oyster po'boy, incredible. i mean really everything we had ordered was incredible and the service was quick, friendly, attentive, and could not have been better.

Yelp
I dined here with my two sons a few weeks ago on night 2 of a 28 day road trip adventure. We were actually looking for somewhere a little more casual, but it was late and we were tired and hungry and this was open and had a great menu (thank you Yelp). While I felt we were underdressed, we were welcomed with a smile and seated immediately. One child chose the grilled salmon, the other chose a pizza (which he deemed one of the best he's ever eaten...and he's an expert), and I got a variety of side items because I couldn't decide on just one entree. The inside ambiance was warm and attractive and there were plenty of people eating outside as well. Our server was very kind and attentive. Our meal was exactly what I didn't know we wanted and I wish I lived in this city in this state so I could return easily. I would absolutely go back here for date night or girls' night, and I appreciate them not giving me a second glance when I brought two little boys in at 8:00 pm for a fancier than I was prepared for road trip meal.

Yelp
Food is not good anymore. I don't know what happened between 2021 and 2022, but menu changes a little and quality change. Sure atmosphere is still nice to sit in and have drinks with your friends but food is really disappointed unless you are used to gas station food and this might be pretty good to you . Oyster is not as fresh as last year, taste kinda fishy on some of them. Scallops were a disaster (only seared on one side, overcooked like rubber, salty asf) Gordon Ramsay would not be happy about it. And I was expecting my pizza has a little more toppings on it. I can hardly see any duck meat. I know we having inflation but come on.

Yelp
Wow! Great happy hour specials. 5$ wine b4 6 pm. Half priced pizzas till 6. Free dessert with check in. May be my new little "slice" of heaven. Fits the budget nicely and the wine and pizza are great. On to pecan pie cobbler with butter pecan ice cream! Bar is impressive. Hope to come back soon and try some of the wood fired meat goods. The smell is overpowering. No wonder they have 550 reviews. Lots to love here and staff was super cordial. Peace out

Yelp
Great food and relaxed atmosphere. Enjoyed the fried crab claws. Our service was excellent. Did a reservation and was seated immediately. Thanks again!! Will be back.
google avatar

Erik N.

Yelp
Wow! Stopped in for brunch when just passing through town. The food was excellent! The crab claws, shrimp and grits and catfish and grits were all worthy of a fine New Orleans restaurant!! Delicious!

John S.

Yelp
The waitstaff is pretty awesome. Comfortable venue. Parking may be a little tricky. The only criticism we have of the pizza is it was a little heavy on salt. A very pleasant dining experience.

Yelp
Oh wow. If a picture is worth a thousand words then feast your eyes on our photo! We loved the comfortable modern vibe and knowledgeable service but were even more blown away by the food! We even recommended it strongly to our son for his honeymoon when he was passing through! They did visit, and they just had a FANTASTIC experience. We pass through Jackson at least a couple of time a year. We will never miss a stop here!

Yelp
This place is fantastic! The atmosphere, food, & service were all excellent. Our waiter Trent was the best. He took the time to explain the menu to us & gave us great recommendations. The duck confit pizza, cauliflower, & gumbo were amazing. They have an extensive list of fine wines, cocktails, whiskey, craft beers & scotch, all of which have been hand picked. The bartender & our waiter were versed in all the different beverages & once again gave awesome recommendations. There is seating indoors, outdoors, or at the bar. So happy we chose this place & if I'm ever back in Mississippi I'll definitely revisit it!
