The Mansion Melbourne

Friendly staff, warm welcome and a great feeling of community among the guests. Kitchen is well equipped, clean bathrooms, three working desks for remote work, a cinema room and a nice outdoor area to relax and eat. Room has been a bit noisy when windows were open due to its location on Victoria parade with a lot of car traffic. Nice parks nearby and good location to explore the city.

Nice warm welcome upon arrival. Was explained the hotel rules clearly from the start and was offered help at various times for small things. The stairs part is an issue if you have multiple suitcases but they offered to help me. When I dried my clothes using the laundry, it didn't dry the first time so I told the gentleman at the desk who kindly paid for the second time to properly dry as it didn't dry the first time I put the clothes in. ||Its a good vibe to be honest, with the guests very very sociable in either the kitchen or other parts of the hotel.

Nice place to stay, it's a historical building totally renewed. It's comfortable, has coworking spots, good wifi and people are respectful of sleeping time. Kind staff too. The rooms and bathrooms were clean. The stairs are wonderful wooden ones. It has a bar too but its usually closed.

Location good. Service okay. Private room cold in winter even with the heater. The building is nice from outside and has potential from the inside but definitely needs a lot of refurbishment. Noisy from outside’s busy street which is not their fault but would need to invest in some better windows which you can barely close.

Probably the best hostel in melbourne. Comfortable enough to stay longer than expected. Great staff and it generally attracts good guests for whatever reason. great kitchen amenities. could do with better curtains and upkeep of literally just the curtains. those plastic hooks dont cost much... but very thankful of them for fostering a nice vibe during my time there

The staff at the mansion are very friendly and super helpful. I had an unfortunate incident with someone climbing onto my bed and spilling shampoo over my bed and the lovely lady at reception sorted this out immediately and was very apologetic even though it wasnt the staff's fault. The location is great being so easy to get to the center and fitzroy. Another bonus is the kitchen is open 24/7 which you don't get in many hostels. Unfortunately it is not much of a party hostel with some strict rules (no snoring, no noise after 10pm ect) and communal spaces shutting at 7.30pm, although this would be a good place to stay for long term visitors who are working. It was a shame that the bar and cafe advertised on their website is only open 3pm till 9pm on Fridays only but when this is open it is very nice and a good place to meet people. Finally, there was only 2 showers and 1 toilet on our floor which was right next to the working space so we often went upstairs to use the next floors facilities. A couple times we had to wait to shower but this wasn't a huge problem. Overall, it's a decent hostel for those looking for a more chilled out stay but not for people looking to have some more fun.

It’s centrally located, making it perfect for exploring Melbourne. I had the chance to meet some fellow travelers and chat with them. The place is clean and welcoming, with a relaxed atmosphere. The staff is friendly and gave me a map of the city, pointing out the must-see spots. A great option for those looking for a simple and convenient base to explore the city.

really enjoyed my time here. the staff were all super friendly and helpful. dorms were large enough. perfect location. only issue would be the cleanliness of the bathrooms, which sometimes were a bit dirty, but thats understandable as theres so many guests, and the staff clean them often.
