"It’s family-friendly vibes and heaping portions at Maple Counter in downtown Walla Walla, where the blueberry cobbler French toast is a religious experience. Breakfast is offered here all day, while the lunch menu comprises classic burgers and sandwiches, like the New Yorker: a take on a Reuben with coleslaw in place of kraut." - Stephanie Forrer

"The long menu of breakfast-and-lunch classics — eggs, pancakes, burgers, salads — is done with some elevated touches: The pancake batter is made from scratch, and the eggs aren’t fried, they’re basted in clarified butter." - Matthew Lombardi

If you are visiting from out of town, then you must check out Maple Counter for breakfast/brunch! We came here twice during our stay, and had excellent experiences both times. This isn’t a place for a health conscious meal, but it’s absolutely perfect for comfort food. We were pleased by the variety of menu options. The coffee was the only average item we consumed. The lattes (both plain and fancy styles) were delightful and the plates are drool-worthy and belly-busting. We had the eggs Casey, eggs Benedict, sausage and gravy, and an omelette. The eggs Casey (with Hollandaise instead of mushroom sauce) was out of this world delicious and my favorite restaurant breakfast of all time! The service was quick and friendly. Portions are generous and affordable. The vibes are kind of like a Cracker Barrel.

Google
Awesome breakfast joint. You can tell it’s local and much more authentic than most breakfast spots. Service is quick and friendly. Food portions were huge and the food was delicious. The To-go containers were super convenient for reheating. Highly recommend

Google
TLDR; Excellent quality food, but portion sizes are enormous and impossible to finish. Almost everything eggs comes with a side of pancakes. 🥞 We came in for breakfast on a Sunday and the place was already full just an hour after opening. We did get a table right away though. We ordered orange juice, coffee, the Northwestern eggs Benedict with potatoes and the Maple Counter trio with fruit instead of breakfast meats. Overall, the food is great and the pancakes are really light, easily the best in Washington if not the USA. The fruit plate also comes with very fresh fruit. Orange juice is absolutely on point and fresh squeezed, as advertised. Service is great and patient - it took them coming to our table 6 times before I knew what I wanted, and not once did they come off as frustrated, which I appreciate.

Everything you can expect from a restaurant featured on the food network channel. Worth the drive if you live in northwest Washington, the food was delicious and the care was exceptional. Highly recommend if you’re visiting Walla Walla or passing by, you can thank me later. Just exceptional food, flavors and service!!

The Maple Counter Cafe is a hidden gem in the heart of Walla Walla, Washington. From the moment you walk in, you are greeted by the cozy and inviting atmosphere that sets the perfect tone for a delightful dining experience. The service is top-notch, with friendly and attentive staff who go above and beyond to make sure your meal is a memorable one. Now, let's talk about the french omelette- it is simply divine. The eggs are perfectly fluffy and cooked to perfection, with a generous filling of melted cheese, fresh herbs, and your choice of additional ingredients like mushrooms, spinach, or ham. Each bite is a burst of savory flavors that will leave your taste buds dancing with joy. Pair it with a side of crispy hash browns and a hot cup of coffee for the ultimate breakfast treat. Overall, The Maple Counter Cafe and their french omelette are a must-try for anyone looking for a delicious and satisfying start to their day. Don't miss out on this culinary delight!

Google
Breakfast was great and while the dishes are rather expensive, they are HUGE portions and can easily be shared. Staff was very nice and attentive. They have indoor and outdoor seating. I had the biscuit and gravy that comes with two eggs and as the picture shows, it is enormous with lots of sausage and bacon in the creamy gravy. My only issue was I asked for the poached eggs to be runny but the yolks were more firm than I preferred.

Google
My family and I had brunch here when we were visiting some family in Walla Walla, Washington. They recommended this place, and it did not disappoint. From my understanding is you have to call ahead of time and put your name and party size on a wait list. We had a very large party, 20 of us, and I was highly impressed that they accommodated that large of a group. We had a 20-25 minute wait, but as soon as everyone was seated and food was ordered, We actually received the food rather quickly. The waitress was great and very attentive. This is a place that you have to be very hungry for and be prepared to leave with leftovers. The portion sizes are massive. Even the kids' menu had large portions. But overall, the food was amazing. Everybody at the tables loved what they got. I would highly recommend going here.

Google
Enjoyed our breakfast very much! We were here on a Tuesday morning and they were very busy. Service was very friendly, but they were running to keep up which meant little things were overlooked. However, our server made up for it with a great demeanor and smile. We'd definitely go back.

Yelp
I had the best time at the Maple Counter Cafe in Walla Walla. The food was incredibly delicious. Make sure to order the Eggs Nicole or the Corn beef hash. You won't be disappointed. My server, Brittney, was just as amazing as the food. She was super attentive. I didn't want for anything. She was so on top of her game. The Maple Counter Cafe is definitely a must when visiting Walla Walla.

Lauren K.

Yelp
I don't recommend this place! The service was fine and fast. There is a good process of getting on the waitlist so you can get into it at home and then show up and your table is ready. The ambiance was a classic Saturday at a diner. The food though? Not the best. The coffees were fun and fine. Sugary but special. Biscuits and gravy was really extremely awful. The ratio of gravy to biscuits was sickening. The gravy was flavorless but way too fluffy and airy-- nobody wants that in a gravy. The biscuits were just okay. The Frontier Skillet was really nothing to write home about. It was just really greasy potatoes and bell peppers with some eggs. The prices are not reasonable. For two people and one coffee we paid $54. That would be okay for a nice dinner for two but for a crappy diner breakfast? Not cool. Save your money and make avocado toast in your Airbnb!

Yelp
This was our first visit to this restaurant, although I'm surprised to make that statement. We've been coming to Walla Walla at least once a year and often more than that, but we never stopped in. Now that we have been here, this will be our go to breakfast joint when in town. It's often busy, but you can order a drink while you're waiting for your table and they'll bring it out to you. Genius! the food is flavorful, presented very well, and brings a smile to your face when you look at it and taste it. Service is top-notch and you can tell the people there like their jobs. The atmosphere is country and Homie and very comfortable. Don't pass this place up, you'll regret it if you do.

Wendy B.

Yelp
Breakfast done right. The food was amazing. Generous portions and outstanding service. We had a large party and they were slammed, but service was on point.

Tiffany K.

Yelp
The food was delicious. Very fast and attentive service. Great go-to for breakfast. 4 of us could have shared the skillet!!! So much GOOD food!

Mako A.

Yelp
Portion size are huge! Most definitely I couldn't finish the pancakes and had more than half in a box when we left.

Kyle W.

Yelp
A typical, popular American brunch spot in Walla Walla, known for gigantic portions. As the weekend is very hot, there was no wait when we walked in on Sunday 9am. I hear people mentioning an online waitlist in Google, and there is a link, but when I checked in a hypothetical scenario, they don't do online waitlists that day. We shared the apple pancake and Frontier skillet. The apple pancake was $20 which sounds like a high price but the portions are gigantic - enough for 4 people. I wished that these places can do smaller portions for a fraction of the cost, as it is hard to get variety otherwise. The pancake was on the sweeter side yet it is very fruitful and delicious. I wished my body can take in more sweets but I tapped out after eating a quarter. The Frontier skillet is our savory dish. Again, high price and large portions, but they add a bit too much potato and less of eggs and ham. Every bite I felt like I was eating potato, so having a better distribution of ingredients would have been better. Service is good - food was delivered fairly quickly and water refills were present. Overall, this place is a solid choice for brunch, but do anticipate large portions and that it could get busy even in the earlier hours of the day.

Yelp
Pancakes incredible, make sure to split an omelette unless you're an NFL linebacker. Great attentive service on a busy Sunday morning on the heated patio.

Jen M.

Yelp
Had asparagus scramble with mushroom Bechamel sauce. Delicious! Had a couple mimosas would have had more but drinks were slow. Food was a win win every time I have visited.

Karen T.

Yelp
Huge servings & amazing food. Wonderful little gem of a place. Must check out when you are in Walla walla

Desireé H.

Yelp
Thank you Yelpers for helping us re-find this place. When I was looking for breakfast I had not realized we'd been before. We were actually staying in Pendleton but wanted to explore out. This spot was perfect for patio sitting with Daisy. The staff were attentive and friendly. We asked our waitress what she recommended and she didn't guide us wrong. The plates were great portions and absolutely delicious. Glad we decided to explore out and happy we found this place again.

Kimberly T.

Yelp
Food: Amazing! Service: Amazing! Ambiance: super amazing!!!! Our Airbnb rental host recommended this restaurant to us to try before we head back home and it was super good. What was really interesting, is that the omelettes are the oven baked in so they come out really puffy really moist and it's so delicious. I do definitely recommend that when you come out try the omelettes. There's no photo of the pancakes because we ate those too fast. They came with warm butter, which should be the standard. I do recommend this place if you're ever in Walla Walla.

Yelp
We walked over to the Maple Counter from the Marriott during a wine tasting weekend trip. There were six in our group and in October it was still warm, we elected to sit outside in order to be seated right away and enjoy the weather. I had the corned beef, which was excellent. A slow roasted traditional corned beef, layered on homestyle potatoes with a cooked to order egg atop. The buttermilk pancakes that my companions ordered, I'm told were delish. The staff was working overtime to get orders out and refill coffee. I would recommend Maple Counter if you are in the area, the menu has something for everyone; that paired with the great service is a winning combination.

Victoria L.

Yelp
Came here for Sunday brunch. We had to wait 40 minutes for a table of 4! The food portions were massive and the taste was overall great and very "home-made" tasting. All their servers wore skirts with a black top which was super cute. I'd recommend the Eggs Nicole!

Dave B.

Yelp
Another fantastic breakfast feast from The Maple Counter Cafe! For drinks we ordered the White Chocolate Lavender Mocha with just a hint of lavender, fresh squeezed orange juice & a glass of mixed fresh squeezed orange & grapefruit (suggested from our waitress). Our food consisted of the Raspberry Lemon Bar French Toast, Biscuits & Gravy & side of light & fluffy scrambled eggs. Everything was phenomenal yet again!

Frank G.

Yelp
The food and services was impressive. We order several breakfast items. Really good. The show stopper was the apple pancake. AMAZING

Steve M.

Yelp
Ya just can't go wrong. Tasty food and friendly service. Join the waitlist on Google.

Jane G.

Yelp
Went for lunch with my husband. Hadn't been there in almost 8 years. It's as warm and friendly as I remember. service was great, food was delicious. Truly a must when in Walla Walla for anyone visiting the area.

Beth V.

Yelp
This was great breakfast. Their pancakes especially were delicious. The Apple pancake is gigantic but tasty, and the blueberry syrup is really good. Really nice overall.

Jessica W.

Yelp
Service is great, they seated us quickly. Food is tasteless and overpriced like most restaurants here that we have tried. I never salt my food and here I was salting their béchamel-sherry fancy mushroom sauce. Tasteless. French omelettes? Yes they were fluffy, but flavor is mandatory. Kthxbai

Yelp
This is a huge breakfast joint. I was shocked how big it was and how many people were here! The portions are extremely large but the prices for breakfast seemed too high for me. Our servers were not super friendly. It was okay but just not somewhere I'd go back.

Elizabeth P.

Yelp
Visiting my mom from Portland and she suggested eating here. My first time, she has been before and likes it. I was not disappointed. The Hostess was friendly and we were seated within reasonable amount of time. Our Server was VERY nice and did not "over do" service, which to me is annoying. She was spot on. Plus was really nice to my mom-that is a BIG deal to me. The food was delicious! We have many places in Portland that are !!! and I would have to say that this place is up there! Fresh squeezed orange juice mimosa, French toast and strawberry blitzes and potatoes-which were PERFECT!!! Excellent experience and will definitely go back next time I am in Walla Walla.

Dave T.

Yelp
Probably the best overall breakfast food in Walla Walla. Amazing portions. Old school cooking with a lot of new touches. The service is great like the food. I had the chorizo omelette and many tastes from he food of the rest of our ten top. All was delicious. A little bit on the spendy side....but...walla walla tends to be a little spendy. Alcohol is also available.

Yelp
In our quick visit to Walla Walla my sister suggested we have a early breakfast at the Maple Counter! What a great find for sure ! Huge menu with lots and lots of choices! Biscuits and gravy with 2 eggs - very filling with eggs done perfectly! Corn beef hash really good ! Lots of food to wash down with great coffee

Dee P.

Yelp
Visiting Walla Walla and need a good bite to eat within downtown? This is your spot. It's popular with locals and visitors, and stays fairly busy til closing. If you go for breakfast, make sure to expect a little wait because it can be full often. I've been here 2x so far, and my favorite dishes are the Eggs Casey breakfast for savory, and the Blintzes for not overly sweet alternative to pancakes or French toast. Service pretty good and fairly quick and friendly. No problems here. Parking is pretty easy in the area. It's typical small town downtown parking, a few blocks away from the college if you want to go for a nice stroll. Prices are roughly $13-18 range. But good size portions, so it'll be plenty for most people. Would come again for brunch when I come thru Walla Walla again.

Wendy O.

Yelp
I love maple counter !! Best food and wonderful services ! Good job Cory and Rachel Glenn And Wendy

Bob W.

Yelp
There is almost always a line to get in. BUT.. The 15-20 minutes is absolutely worth it! The food is outstanding and the staff is wonderful!! Maple Counter Cafe is a must visit!

Nicole L.

Yelp
Delicious place to grab a hearty breakfast! We ordered a classic eggs Benedict, eggs nicole, and florentine (with bechamel sauce). We all loved our plates. Food could have used a bit more salt (no biggy). None of us were able to finish our plates. The portions are massive. Be prepared: 1) you will most likely need to wait a bit to be seated. This place is clearly in high demand in this small town. 2) come hungry so you can enjoy your meal 3) expect to get a take-away box back home with you!

Kimberly R.

Yelp
What a great experience here while visiting from California! I ordered the French toast breakfast and Omg they were so good and moist that I didn't even add syrup to the French toast! My husband ordered pancakes and they were delicious as well. My toddler was fascinated with the gift shop at the front of the restaurant so we had to bribe her with food before she was able to pick a toy out. The customer service was so amazing. Very warm and welcoming staff. Thank you for your kindness. We hope to visit again sometime soon!

Rebecca D.

Yelp
Such a cute spot! The food here is always really good, my go to is the biscuits and gravy. Service is always pretty quick as well.

Mary J.

Yelp
Great place for breakfast in Walla Walla, highly recommend it. We go here every time we come. My personal favorite is the mushroom omlet. But, really.. ..you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Awesome place!

Jeff R.

Yelp
A very nice stop for breakfast even on a very busy Saturday morning. The line went quick and because I was solo, there was a seat available right away. They do have outdoor seating as well. There are loads of menu choices that run from the usual cafe fair, to more specialty items that are derived from Europe. Service was excellent with drinks always being topped off. Pricing is a bit steep, but clearly that's not a factor for many, as this place was busy. Overall a very good experience and would come back again.

Jacques I.

Yelp
Oh my goodness, this is THE best place for breakfast in Walla Walla! Do make your way here and be prepared to wait in line, which is worth it. Trust me. The Maple Counter Cafe was so delicious! For the four of us on a Saturday, we came here soon after it opened and there was already a line. We waited for about 20 minutes and by the time we left, there was still a line of people, waiting to dine in. It's a popular place, all for good reasons. The Maple Counter Cafe has a large menu of items to choose from, with breakfast items as its specialty. They do have lunch fare, but the breakfast should not be missed. I started with a bloody mary, and my friends and I shared a dutch baby. For an entrée, I ordered the corned beef hash. The dutch baby was yummy! It was huge, so is definitely worth sharing. It also came with a side of powdered sugar, whipped cream and butter; but honestly, I didn't even think it needed any of that because it was so good on its own. My corned beef hash was also fantastic. It came in a skillet with the corned beef chunks over the hash browns and I had two poached eggs over it. It was so delicious that I didn't want to stop eating, but it's a hefty one, so ended up taking half to go. We all loved our food from here! Staff was also super friendly and service was on point, with multiple servers refilling water glasses and coffee mugs throughout our entire time. The Maple Counter Cafe was the best place for breakfast in Walla Walla, so start your day here!

Susan L.

Yelp
This is a local and tourist spot, expect a long line. I ordered the house special apple pancake. I think the size was good enough to share for four, a bit too sweet for my liking, lots of brown sugar topping, I like the taste of the fresh apple though, the pancake has a good texture. I'm glad I tried it but will not order it again, there's so many things I need to try here, definitely will come back. The apple cider tasted so good!

Corrina G.

Yelp
The food is good. Service is good. Ambiance is good. This place has been here a while, and it is good. Food wise, you get more than your money worth. Drink wise, you have multiple options. Desurt wise same thing. Prices are a little high, bit other than that they feel like you have stepped into a cabin in the mountains and there are family members there holding down the fort and going to cook you a nice hot meal, and make sure they fill your tummy up with good downhome cooking.

Amanda N.

Yelp
Weekend brunch here is wild! The wait to even put your name down can be pretty long and waiting for the table is even longer, so keep that in mind when scheduling your brunch meeting time. The wait ended up being really long and we were really hungry so we ended up just putting in an order in online since the staff was quite jammed on a holiday weekend to take a to-go order at the counter. For two people, we split the mushroom omelet, the 3 pancakes, and a side of bacon. The pancakes came with syrup and whipped cream. The omelet was full of mushrooms and also had a ton of cheese on it. The pancakes were super fluffy and the bacon was thick and perfectly crispy. Will definitely stop by again next time we're in town!

Melanie W.

Yelp
Great food, great environment, nice staff really enjoyed our time there. Would recommend trying it.

Mandy L.

Yelp
We visited because of recommendations from the community but were very disappointed. Our names "disappeared" from the waitlist. Drink order was never put in. When drinks finally did arrive (after asking again) they were low quality. Food arrived shortly after but one entree was missing. Both entrees poor quality. We couldn't get out of there soon enough!

Paul M.

Yelp
Two words: APPLE PANCAKE!!!!! How does a tiny town have such amazing food choices? Stopped by for breakfast and just had to try the apple pancake. It did NOT disappoint. It is a cross between a pancake, soufflé, and apple pie. It comes out of the oven piping hot and I enjoyed every delicious bite. Wish I lived closer to come back!!!

Angela S.

Yelp
We spent a week in Walla Walla tasting wines, enjoying the lovely and historic downtown area, and simply soaking in the wonderful atmosphere. As a huge fan of brunch, I couldn't resist Maple Counter Cafe with it's massive breakfast menu and great location in downtown Walla Walla. We arrived around 10ish on a weekday, and were immediately greeted and seated with an option for outside or inside. There's been an epic heat wave coursing through the PNW, so we opted to sit inside and enjoy the fun, funny and sentimental pictures, paintings and sayings hung across any and ALL of the walls. Our server came first for drink orders and we couldn't pass up a brunch cocktail - one mimosa and one whiskey lemonade, please! After that we had to take a few minutes to read each and every menu item - this breakfast menu is HUGE and sprinkled with fun references to people and places that form the Maple Counter Cafe culture. I couldn't pass up the buttermilk pancakes, which thankfully come as a side to nearly every option, and paired those with a country scramble omelette packed full of sausage and topped with gravy. First, let's talk pancakes - fluffy, buttery, melt in your mouth - these were everything you expect in a decadent, pillowy pancake. Do not miss these. My scramble was savory, with a hint of sweetness in the gravy, the perfect brunch mix and HUGE. In fact, be forewarned, the portions here are enormous so bring your appetite or plan to share a plate. We left practically crawling away, having stuffed ourselves - pro-tip: take a stroll through downtown and do some shopping to walk off those big plates. Cheers!

A S.

Yelp
Super cute ambiance, amazing food and great service. I had French toast and it was phenomenal. Their bacon is cooked to perfection and their apple juice is uniquely amazing. It looks unfiltered and the taste is intense in the best way possible. Highly recommend this place.

James F.

Yelp
Finally got a chance to try this place after a few missed opportunities. Absolutely worth the five stars and worth the wait when you get there. The food is simply fantastic, straightforward yet amazingly great food! Ended up going twice in two days and neither disappointed. Had breakfast fare both times and was blown away by the quality and quantity of what you get. The inside seating areas are bustling and full of sights and sounds of people enjoying their meals. Cannot recommend it enough.

Catherine C.

Yelp
What an amazing spot, fantastic food, very friendly and attentive wait staff. Kept coffee cup filled the whole breakfast. Don't miss out on the fresh squeezed OJ.

Jenn C.

Yelp
Service is excellent and the food is soooo amazing! I have been there a few times now and have had great experiences every time!

Jay G.

Yelp
Great spot in downtown Walla Walla that has every breakfast item you could want including French style omelettes finished in the oven and pancakes galore. It was close to lunch so I went for the special burger only available Monday through Friday starting at 11am. It was 11am so I ordered the Chuck Ground Burger with Two Strips of Bacon with Walla Walla Onion Jam, Cheese, Lettuce, Tomato and a massive side of waffle fries. The fries were a little salty with the seasoning but very tasty and cooked perfectly. This is our midway stop between Seattle and Boise and a good place to bookmark if you are in the area. Solid 4 stars

C P.

Yelp
Simply wonderful breakfast in a charming building. Nicely decorated restaurant with a wonderful staff. The food? Terrific. Large portions so enough for next morning.

David S.

Yelp
Best breakfast and brunch spot in town. Always great food and first class service. Great family restaurant reasonable prices. if you like omelets this is the spot they have an interesting spin on the classic and is definitely worth trying. I am not a fan of the potatoes but I know a lot of folks are. I would love to see a traditional hash brown but that's just me so not fair to go less than five stars.

Jan R.

Yelp
What's not to love! Great food & service and we regularly drive from Pasco WA to this restaurant for breakfast - that's just how good it is!!

Gabrielle B.

Yelp
Maple counter is a well known locals favorite! When I first moved here I came to see what all of the fuss was about and I decided to try eggs Benedict for the first time. Of course it was incredible. The holly sauce was so creamy especially when the yolk oozed out with it. I believe I got the Californian so there was avocado as well and it was just amazing. They are famous for their pancakes so I got one on the side and I've never had a pancake like this- it literally melted in my mouth. So fluffy, tender, delicate and buttery! The only thing is didn't care for was the potatoes. I was expecting more traditional cubed breakfast potatoes and they were scalloped and less flavorful than everything else. Overall great experience and worth the longer wait times. If you're vegetarian and especially if you're vegan, your options here are more limited but there is something for everyone!

Sidney P.

Yelp
Simply the BEST breakfast place EVER. No place ever tops it, and they have some tough competition. If you are considering eating here or at Bacon & Eggs, do yourself a favor and go here. No comparison!
