The Marietta Local

I can’t say enough good things about this establishment. The atmosphere is awesome. The patio seating is fantastic during the seasonal weather. The staff is accommodating and kind and gives you plenty of background on who they are and who they have become and why. I had a hard time making a choice on what to eat on the menu. I decided on the Nashville hot! Amazing! Whatever your choice you can’t go wrong.

this place is absolutely the cutest! the food is SO good. i had the nashville hot chicken wrap and it’s more on the spicier side which i loved. my FAVORITE item though was the cinnamon roll it was perfection and i wanted to buy so many more!! staff is super kind and sweet. another fav is the french toast!

Service was very fast. The ladies are very nice: there’s a reason they have been in business for 13 years! Wonderful environment! Family is everything!

This will be one of my top three breakfast places to go. My first time here, excellent customer service, nice homely atmosphere, and the food was awesome! I had the potato skillet with chicken sausage, French toast and real hot chocolate (the cream on the hot chocolate was so thick the chocolate won't even come through the whipped cream until it melted some) This would be one of the best places you can visit. Reasonably priced and I will gladly drive from Decatur to Marietta for The Marietta Local. 😆

UPDATE (20250828): Having returned to The Marietta Local after a couple of months, it was pleasure to have mended fences, so to speak, and ironically over a new and different matter. I took the blame for not being clear with placing my order this day. I had received a delicious fried chicken cutlet with specifying just "chicken" as an option with the Sunrise on the Square plate; I thought I would receive chicken sausages. Graciously, the owner (and her granddaughter) received my apology and even though I accepted the cutlet, they gave me the chicken sausages out of courteousness. I valued both their grace and patience. However, the chicken wasn't the focus. It was the biscuit and coffee. Each had returned to what they should be this morning, and saving the biscuit for last, it was delectable over preparing some writing. Definitely worth the extra bucks fifty. Thank you Marietta Local for the amazing breakfast. 👍🏾🙏🏾 (I know you're good people. 🙂) UPDATE (20250624): I stopped by The Local this morning with time to catch it opening, continue reading Saturn's Children, and write a letter. Ordering my usual, I found an improvement or a shift back towards normalcy with their coffee and biscuit. The coffee had more of a Whole Foods quality and I gave benefit of doubt and appreciated the "homemade" touch to the biscuit—even though it is still not the "southern" biscuit usually served. I am refraining from describing their actual biscuit, because I know within the Experience, part of it is to mess with one's reality or perception. Instead, I have provided a picture of the "homemade" biscuit for comparison to the biscuit served me three days ago. It'll show an inconsistency between the two, and I may continue to do so until The Marietta Local serves up their true "southern" biscuits. I mean, as the business is no doubt rooted in the Christian faith, it'll have to decide to either be true or false with its values and its customers. On the upside, it was nice to discover that The Local serves frozen push popsicles. A nice treat for hot days. 20250621 One might wonder about the overall three rating when the food, service, and atmosphere are rated with fours. Well, I like the Marietta Local. I really do. It is a small business that is successful, has good patronage, and while a bit pricey, the food is fresh, home cooked, and on point. Save the Coke products in its vending machine; but alternatively, they offer fresh brewed coffee and organic teas. So, why the three rating? It represents a good thing, and in light of the community behavior observed and experienced for the last thirteen years, in which I have seen good people and things corrupted and ruined. Of my five, six visits to The Marietta Local, four or five have been good experiences with it. In fact, once I sensed a setup and avoided going there out of respect for myself and the establishment. Moreover, having taken pictures that day—of just the restaurant—in hopes of doing a more positive review, those pictures disappeared on me. In visiting there today, I took more pictures amid a busy and relative noisy atmosphere. Even when every table is occupied, patrons are typically calm in their conversations. Suffice it to say, having taken my usual to go this time, I find myself not drinking coffee or eating a biscuit made by the Marietta Local, but rather coffee possibly from McDonald's (or Racetrack or QT), and a biscuit from Hardee's or Arby's or some fastfood restaurant. Hardly worth the eight dollars plus tip, like usual. I shall hope on my next visit, the coffee and biscuit are as they should be. I have provided pictures of what their biscuits should not be.

Delicious fried chicken. Hubby had Nashville hot and I had it with my apples/pecan/goat cheese salad with delicious homemade salad dressing. Staff was so so nice. Easy going place to grab a delicious lunch with a lovely outdoor and indoor seating cafe style.

If you haven’t been to Marietta Local yet, do yourself a favor and go. This place absolutely delivers. The baked cookies: warm, soft, and full of flavor without being overly sweet. The biscuits are everything you want in Southern comfort food: fluffy inside, a little crisp outside, and somehow even better when you drag them through that gravy. Speaking of the gravy — it’s ridiculous. Silky, rich, and perfectly seasoned. It somehow manages to make the already amazing fried chicken even better. The chicken is cooked exactly how it should be — golden and crispy on the outside, juicy and tender on the inside. You can tell it’s made by people who actually care about what they’re serving. The service matches the food — friendly, fast, and genuine. No pretense, no attitude, just good people serving great food. I don’t say this lightly, but I’d drive over an hour just to eat here again. Places like this are rare — everything feels made with purpose and pride. Marietta Local is the kind of spot that reminds you why local food beats the chains every single time.

The food was amazing. I loved how soft and tender their fried chicken was. Their cheese grits were also hitting hard. Their soft drinks are very unique and were overall an excellent experience. Highly recommend if you are in Marietta Square.

The service was prompt and friendly. I was greeted immediately and given some suggestions on what to order ( the fried chicken is delightful!) I also ordered a latte that was made to perfection. I don't live in Marietta, but this gem is worth the drive.

The Marietta Local never disappoints! Their fried chicken biscuit is hands-down one of the best I've had -- crispy, flavorful, and perfectly cooked every time. The vibe is cozy and welcoming, with that small-town charm that makes you want to linger a little longer. Service is quick, the portions are generous, and everything tastes super fresh. Perfect spot for a weekend brunch or to take out-of-town guests for a "this is what Marietta tastes like" moment.

I picked this place for brunch and didn't realize it was owned by the same people that own base camp at Kennesaw Mountain but I loved this location more! The food was better but I'll admit vibes are better at base camp. It's fast casual which is great and they were super accommodating with our large group which I greatly appreciate. I got a similar meal from base camp so vanilla latte and a bacon egg and cheese biscuit and idk it was just better here! My iced latte was too sweet and the biscuit was delicious. Great spot in the square for some simple and easy breakfast!

Another great meal! Great day to sit outside and enjoy the fall weather. The Nashville Hot Breakfast was excellent and the grits were fantastic. My wife loved the grilled chicken(fais it tasted like fried chicken. Staff was duper friendly!

I was really pleasantly surprised by this lunch spot. It was really busy on a weekday, and you order inside and they bring your food outside to you if you sit outside. I had an excellent salad that came with tons of toppings like apples and goat cheese, and it felt really substantial and tasty. The waitress was very friendly and talkative. The outdoor tables have umbrellas to keep you in the shade on a hot day. Parking in the square can be hit or miss and on this occasion it was a nightmare. Other than that, I'd love to return.

We are visiting for Easter holiday and stopped by the Marietta Square for lunch. We enjoyed the lunch with our grandson. The soda fountain had great flavors. Nice atmosphere. We will definitely come back to try something else on the menu.

A local fave in Marietta! You order at the counter and they bring the food to your table. It's a small establishment so it's very homy feeling. The food came out super quick and we thought it was very tasty. The kids devoured their Nashville hot chicken. It was big enough to share. They also give you a TON of fries. The Blue Devil Salad was refreshing and hit the spot. I opted for grilled chicken instead of fried. They serve Stubborn sodas- that was a pleasant surprise. FYI- The bathroom is for customers only and you need a code. Parking can be a bit difficult, but we were able to snag spot a couple blocks down. Highly recommend!

Strolling the square on a Saturday afternoon & my family and I decided to stop in for a small breakfast! We ordered Bacon & Egg Sandwich on a biscuit. Unfortunately they were out of biscuits while we were there, so we opted for bread, which was still very fresh! I also got my baby girl grits and the apples. The grits were not our favorite, but the sandwiches were very good! The restaurant is small with outdoor seating. Very nice place & the staff was great as well! We will definitely be back to try more options!

The menu is limited but if you want amazing fried chicken this is the place! We went for brunch. I had the chicken biscuit which was enormous. Our food came out quickly. The staff are on point getting the tables cleaned off and ready for the next customers so the line moves rather fast despite the small dining area. A couple of us had the square sunrise breakfast. My husband had the French toast. Everything was good. My chicken biscuit was the best I've had in awhile!

A cute and casual breakfast spot tucked in the Marietta Square. Order up at the counter and can find seating easily inside or outside! This breakfast spot is perfect for a casual brunch/lunch outing with plenty of sweet and savory options. The friend chicken biscuit was delicious - the chicken was perfectly crispy and tender and paired well with the soft biscuit that melted in my mouth. The French toast and fried chicken was a fun take on sweet& salty for breakfast, but I wish there was a more fun/seasonal fruit on top. Will be coming back for the biscuits!

Went in around 10 AM on a Monday and there was plenty of seating inside and out. The nice lady at the cashier booth explained that you order first at the counter and the food would be delivered to our table. The restaurant was clean and the empty tables had their dirty dishes removed. Once we ordered, the restaurant became very busy. I think that on most days this would be a 5 star place for breakfast. But couple things, kept me from ranking that high. The temperature of the eggs and gravy was correct under the chicken but in other areas were not as warm as I wanted them to be. The cheesy grits were good. I wished they served a good sausage gravy instead of pepper gravy. I think that would really put this meal over the top. My wife ordered eggs, bacon, biscuit with a side of potatoes. She really liked it but thought the potatoes were under seasoned. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

The Local is a wonderful diner in a beautiful old building. The servers are mostly sweet older ladies who'll make you feel like friends. Simply sit where you want, order at the counter, fix your coffee or hot tea by the entrance, and settle in to enjoy a great Southern meal. The chicken and waffles...er, French toast...is delicious! I love their sunrise sampler with bacon and grits (sooo good)! The prices are a little high, but on par with most casual restaurants now. There's a good reason they call it the Local!

We came here with a few friends and the staff were super friendly up on arrival trying to find us a place to sit. They were hesitant to combine tables for our party of 4 but luckily someone gave up their 4 seater and moved to a 2 seater so we could fit there The restaurant isn't very big but is family friendly & had a steady flow of traffic on a weekday brunch It's located in the square so very limited free parking but we were lucky and got a street spot The menu is mainly breakfast items with a few lunch items. Everything was very affordable priced! I got the Nashville hot breakfast and the chicken was good but not spicy at all. The eggs were cooked well and biscuits were tasty but id ask for more gravy next time. The grits were delicious, probably my favorite thing I tried there. They also serve stubborn soda which was part of why we came in because the pineapple flavor is the best one. The food came out quick & nobody rushed us. The drinks / condiments are self serve and the restaurant is counter service but they do deliver to your table

A nice little spot on the corner of the square. The biscuits and grits are great. I no longer eat meat but when I did that chicken biscuit was my go to! You can either walk in and order at the register or sit down and dine in at a table with a view of the square. Expect to wait as food is made fresh to order but always served with a smile.

I ordered the sandwich biscuit with egg, bacon and cheese. The egg white was runny. The yellow American cheese was not melted and it was served in a plastic basket with paper inside, rather than on a plate. Since I only wanted half of the biscuit, I ate my sandwich with a fork but the paper became soggy and stuck to some of my bites.

I just had the best chicken biscuit ever. The team was so kind and even walked my food out to me when my order was ready. (I was a vendor at a festival on the square.)

Good options. Close to the courthouse and on the square. Cute little spot. A little expensive for what it is. Been here twice and had minor issues both times. Once we we're the only ones there and food took ages to comes out and the second time my order was wrong. They fixed wit quickly and fixed our check but the quick fix also meant my chicken and cheese biscuit meant a chicken biscuit with a cold square of cheese plopped on top. Of you're on the square I think there are better places to eat bit I'd get coffee or tea here. Of your on fort, probably a decent convenient lunch spot.

The place is in the Marietta square which is hard to find parking. You order at the counter and they bring it to u which was very quick and the service was polite. I was hoping to get an item on their online menu which was not on their menu when I got there. The food was just ok there r plenty of places I could have gone. This place doesn't stand out.

Although the Local is small, it absolutely feels homey. Walk in, you're immediately handed a menu. Order at the front, grab your drinks, find a table & they'll bring your food to the table. The Nashville hot was hands down the most delicious thing I've had, since our move to GA. The chicken wasn't overpowering w/ an obnoxious amount of heat. It was literally, perfect and just full of flavor. Sweet and slightly hot. Had a side of coleslaw. It def looks diff from the other coleslaws we've had but it was better. Hubs had the bfast burrito w/ chorizo and egg & potatoes. He joined in with my Nashville Hot. For certain, we devoured everything. Bang for your buck!

Small location on the town square with delicious food! We had the award winning chicken and French toast and the meatloaf sandwich. Both were amazing! Even the French fries were scrumptious! Soft drinks are not national brand, and they were out of several varieties. Service was above and beyond! The owner greeted us while in line and described all the dishes to us in detail.

Delicious breakfast and lunch food! Very friendly staff. All housed in a cool vintage restaurant in Marietta Square. It was 73 in July, so we are at the outdoor tables.

We came here with friends during a beautiful day. We wanted to sit outside and had a group of 9. Staff was very kind in accommodating us outside. Line to order was long and a bit slow, but the food came out quick. Wish there were some more vegetarian options, but what we did order was good. Grits were delish and I'm not usually one to order them!

Service, food and atmosphere were amazing. I've had a lot of BEC biscuits and this was the best biscuit I've ever had but I was not a fan of the grits. We just moved to Marietta and this will be our new spot for sure. 10/10.

It was a cold pre-spring day on the outside, but happy smiles and tasty breakfast warmed on the inside during our trip to Marietta Local. Arriving at the magical moment when the breakfast menu fades to the lunch menu, it temporarily caused angst as we decided which way to go. This is a choice that could affect our entire lives. Thankfully...the All Day Menu provides plenty of breakfast items beyond the morning hours. There are two types of people in this world: "breakfast for dinner" or "dinner for breakfast". I do not fall in the "sushi, ketchup, or seaweed during AM hours" crowd. I will however enjoy a skillet of potatoes etc all day and night. And that's of course the way I went: Marietta Square Skillet, with eggs, cheese, peppers, and onions. Why not a side of potatoes? Let's semi-complex-carb it up! Others imbibed on the Square Sunrise (eggs/toast/bacon/sausage/side) and Chicken Biscuit (chicken biscuit). Who wouldn't love these? The baby gnawed on some of the bacon as should be the case. Piping hot fresh coffee flows from the fountains here, so make sure you get one of those "bottomless" cups. Not surprising they were running low on the available carafes, but that was quickly rectified with even fresher piping hotter cafe. Note upon entry: there's a scientific process where your party orders and THEN finds your table. Please don't be one of "those people" who walk in and try to save a table. Don't worry: by the time you brave the line and finish ordering there will magically be tables available that weren't when you were in line. This is science, don't you like science? Enough friendly chiding. And even if you miss the queue and don't follow this pattern, we are in the South and will say "poor thing, you're probably just having a rough day, sit anywhere." When I asked if I could use my Yelp coupon, I got the best answer ever: "I don't see why not." So I did. This was typical of the extremely courteous and friendly staff we encountered throughout our visit. Next time when I'm there for real dinner it'll probably be something involving fried chicken: Nashville Hot Chicken, Famous Fried Chicken, Chicken-n- French Toast are among the obvious choices. Or go even more homestyle with Mom's Meatloaf. And the light side contains delights like North Georgia Fall Apple Salad. Mmm. Yes to all of those on our return trip, and we'll look forward to sunnier days to eat outside as well for the next visit to Local.

Crazy good food. Excellent service. Just what we wanted to start the day.. they had great attitude and attention to detail.

First visit to this location and I really wanted to love it. It sits off of Marietta Square and is in a historic-looking and feeling building. We were here on a Saturday for lunch and it was packed inside. The interior is very small and they do have limited sidewalk seating as well. We were crammed up against a wall at a very tiny table for two. Walking around to pick up orders or get napkins etc. was a chore because the tables were so packed together. The staff was friendly and the food looked amazing. You order at the counter and then they bring out your food. I had the famous fried chicken sandwich with their hand cut fries. The sandwich looked amazing, yet fell flat on flavor. We tasted very little seasoning. Personally,, I don't like a lot of seasoning, but the fried chicken breast itself was nearly devoid of flavor. The fries were excellent, nothing like hand cut fries. To summarize, cute place but too many people and tables that are crammed together, which did not provide for a relaxing dining atmosphere. The food, although looked incredible, fell flat on flavor. Of course this was based on this dining experience only, and I would certainly give them another try.

So I didn't know it was Chalktober, which made this even better! There were A LOT of different food trucks, but don't get confused, it's actually a small restaurant. *My boyfriend and I got the French toast and chicken cause we were mesmerized from Puerto Rico. The French toast was a little bit soggy, but it still tasted really good. We added some spicy chili oil to at they had which made I it better, but the meat was great! The chicken was crispy and a tad bit spicy. *Both combined together was just pure success, I loved every bite. I do think they should add more chicken because the one they have is too small for two pieces of French toast. But you will get super full and that's all that matters lol. Definitely coming back!! This restaurant is located in the Square. This place has been on my list for a while and I finally tried it a few months ago. I've been to this restaurant twice now and the service and food are consistently good. I ordered the chicken biscuit both times. The biscuit is homemade and the chicken is seasoned to perfection. The portion size is more than enough. The second time I dined here I ordered the potatoes, good but too salty for my liking. Parking can be tricky due to the area so i always try to dine here early. Overall, I highly recommend this spot!

The food was terrible, fried chicken was tasty and cooked perfectly but extremely greasy. The coleslaw was the worst I've ever tasted. When I mentioned it I was met with indifference from the person removing my plate. Never coming back here again.

We visited this place during our trip from Vegas, and it did not disappoint! We got the Nashville Hot Breakfast, Nashville Chicken Sandwich, fried chicken and French toast, the seasonal apple salad and a chocolate chip cookie. Everything was delicious, you can't go wrong! The staff was friendly and service was pretty quick for how packed the place was. We're here for another few days so we'll definitely be coming back!!!

Food was fantastic. Not fancy, but delicious. I'm glad I don't live too close or I would be eating there several times a week.

My goodness! Two of my gal pals and I decided to have lunch this past Friday on The Square in Marietta. It was our first time there and of course, it being lunchtime, it was busy! In this case, that was a very good sign! We each had something different and all three of us absolutely loved our lunches! The staff was amazing and the restaurant was super clean. Service was fast. I am happy to recommend this restaurant! One caution, though. We parked near The Square and decided to go shopping afterwards. Apparently, we were in our parking spot longer than two hours, so I received a parking ticket. Unfortunately, none of us saw any sign in the area about the time limit. So, it was a way more expensive lunch than we anticipated, but that wasn't the fault of the restaurant. As for the City of Marietta, parking should be free. Although I loved the restaurant, next time, we won't stay and shop again, we will just leave Marietta. There are so many other places to shop around the area, where the parking is free.

ALWAYS out of biscuits! The staff started cleaning up everything (drinks, condiments, etc) way before closing. We arrived another 1:15pm and they close at 2pm. A restaurant shouldn't start cleaning up the drinks they sell before they close. They left drinks in pitchers for customers to serve themselves but cleaning with windex around the open pitchers. Just gross, unhealthy, and a major health code violation! (See picture) Food is good but again, don't try and order a biscuit!

The Fried chicken and French toast is the best breakfast ever i love it so much the workers were nice and the syrup on the dish was amazing

The fried chicken is absolutely amazing!!! I was not expecting it to taste so good. Greens and breakfast potatoes were delicious as well. Super friendly waitresses. All around great experience!

I was so disappointed!!! Two plus years ago I ate here and have been raving about the experience and the food to friends and family who live close to Marietta. Now I am embarrassed. The changes: different coating on the chicken, the chicken was pounded, the French toast was dipped perhaps too quickly into the egg mixture and didn't soak into the bread enough. The grits were good. The orange juice was out of a prepackaged plastic container. Adding a 3% credit card processing fee is also not good. Overall not what I expected. My daughter was underwhelmed I think because I had built it up so much. She only ate half of her chicken and cheese biscuit.

Food was good but the service was just ok. Seemed to me like staff not fully engaged? This restaurant is not a sit down and be waited on type of place. Meh...

This review will be short... Get the chicken and french toast. Nothing else matters. The end.

Wow, so fun to go to The Marietta Local. Never thought I'd like fried chicken so much for breakfast! Simply tender and flavorful. We enjoy going there after visiting the Marietta Farmers Market.

My craving for thick French toast led me here and boy did I leave satisfied. The restaurant is located in downtown Marietta so parking can be tough to find but if you end up having to park far, it's a nice scenic walk through the area. I came on a Saturday and it wasn't busy at all. There's no wait service. You order at the counter and seat yourself. I Ordered the French Toast and fried chicken; took about 15 minutes or so and it arrived fresh and hot. I mean you could still see the grease on the chicken. No piece of chicken or French toast was left on my plate. The thickness was just right; sprinkled with a little powdered sugar. It comes with warm apples on the side too. And the chicken was super crispy. From the pics, the salad looks tasty so I'd definitely like to come back and try that.

I go here JUST for their chicken biscuit! It is so good! I do try to go on weekdays because it can get a little crowded!

Food was perfect, we had a Sunday brunch. Omelet fluffy and delicious, Biscuits spot on. Service was great for the amount of people they were helping. Ambiance.... Would be nice if it weren't so packed. But still good people watching!
