My son and I stopped by a couple of days ago and we were grossed out after we got three sets of silverware that still had food on them. Beware, check your silverware to make sure they cleaned it! Feel free to zoom in the picture. Mind you, we asked for a second set of silverware because we thought it was an honest mistake and the waitress brings back two more that were just as dirty. Disgusting!

I wish the meat had less fat and maybe more of the ribeye for the price, but the food was delicious.

This is my favorite place to go to with my husband when we are visiting family in this part of LA! Anything we order here is delicious and high quality. Our favorite is the steak though! Generous portion of both steak and sides. I love the mashed potatoes especially, and they have fresh squeezed OJ as well. The menu variety is plentiful, in my opinion, the food quality is actually better than Urth cafe, which we also dine frequently. The coffee drinks and desserts are a 10/10 too. Highly recommend this place to anyone in the area. Its family friendly too, with very attentive waitstaff.

I've enjoyed coming to this establishment for years. The food and service has always been great. Lately I have noticed that the restaurant itself is rundown and needs to be remodeled. Other than that, business is good.

Today, I wanted to celebrate my mother-in-law’s 70th birthday. I decided to come here because we like the food. Unfortunately, staff kicked us out of the restaurant. Their reason for this was because I brought my dog with me. My dog is a service dog. He is certified and carries his ID. Even though we explained this to them, they didn’t care. The only option they gave us was to sit outside. It is super cold and windy outside, so of course I won’t take that. I brought an elderly person with me. I will never come back here again.

The food is delicious! Portions are a GOOD size. It is a popular and busy spot and for good reason. Order at the counter, they bring your plate. Hardly any staff in the dining area. Took some time before we could ask for water. Everyone had leftovers to take home.

The Marketplace Grill & Cafe doesn't sound like much of a diner, but it definitely delivers! The Black Bear Cafe across the street was crowded with a line, so we crossed over and we're glad we did! We had coffee, made to order omelet, French toast and a kids meal. Everything was perfect. We'll surely be back. If you haven't yet, give them a go. You won't be disappointed.

I made a return visit to this marketplace, and while the phrase "sophomore slump" did come into play, I'm still keeping my rating at 5 stars since I usually take the average of my visits, and my first one was far superior that it would have been hard to top it. I came in at about 7 PM, and there were plenty of customers inside. Not necessarily a full house, but full enough for me to want to order to go as opposed to dining in, which is what I did last year. It took a while for someone to ring me up despite there not being a line, but at least it gave me some time to look over the menu. My gripe about the menu monitors changing screens frequently still remains, but I knew I wanted the same dish I ordered last year: Salmon & Shrimp. I had thought about a Salmon Wrap, but didn't want to save a few bucks to take a chance at an entree that could have been significantly smaller. A couple of employees were busy talking to each other, possibly about orders that had already been placed, but it didn't take too long for another employee (Griselda?) to take my order. I wish those two employees were more customer-centric, however; if this were my first visit, it would have left a rather sour first impression. I did think about forgoing the Shrimp to save $1.40, but when I asked Griselda if the salmon in the Salmon was the same as the salmon in the Salmon & Shrimp, she answered affirmatively. Without hesitation, I elected to retain the shrimp as it seemed that was the only difference besides maybe the type of bread; the Salmon & Shrimp comes with focaccia bread, but the Salmon Plate comes with pita bread. I asked Griselda how long it'd take for the kitchen to prepare my order, and she estimated between 10 and 15 minutes. I clocked the wait time at about 12 minutes here. There were a few empty tables inside, but I sat at a booth seat facing the front door and away from the front counter. When my order was ready for pickup, they called my name, and I went up to the counter to pick up my order. Another reason why I took my order to go was because I had an insulated bag in my trunk, and the bag kept my meal warm during the drive home. My meal was in a pretty large takeout container made of type 6 plastic. It was a little larger than your standard takeout box, but even that larger box was a little small for the amount of food I got. The focaccia bread was on top of the salmon, which was next to the vegetables and shrimp; all of that sat on top of the risotto. Maybe a bento box would have worked better here with all the different components of this meal, but then again, it'd have to be a pretty big bento box to fit all that lol. Everything tasted about the same as last year, though I think the quality of the salmon itself dwindled a bit. Like the filet was burnt in a few places, but the burnt spots weren't too distracting to my enjoyment of the meal. Last year, I used some extra sauce on one of their dining tables to give the salmon some flavor; luckily, I had some sauce at home to do just that. The focaccia bread resembled the bread used in a panini, and I wish they added some whipped butter in my meal as that would have perfectly complemented the bread, and perhaps the salmon as well. Steamed vegetables were just your ordinary steamed vegetables. Shrimp were a nice add-on with a good amount of flavor in each bite. But man, that risotto was definitely something! It was so flavorful that I dared not add any sauce for fear that it would have evoked the "too much good is no good" adage I've mentioned in several of my other reviews. Overall, I still enjoyed my meal, but if I had based my rating off of this last visit alone, I would have given 4 stars instead of 5. However, the average still remains closer to 5 than 4. It's more like a 9.1 or 9.2 out of 10. I can safely say that unless you have some sauces at home that can add some flavoring to your meal, I would highly recommend dining in, even if there's only one table left, so that you can utilize the various sauces they have on their tables. One last thing I wanted to point out: my receipt had the incorrect time stamp. It was off by ~23 minutes! Someone should take a look at the register to see why the huge discrepancy? I can understand 5 minutes, but 23?!

Went to The Marketplace in Downey for brunch on the 4th of July. Wasn't the best option, but not the worst either. We originally tried to go to Black Bear, but their wait was over an hour, so we ended up here instead. It's an order-at-the-counter type of spot, then you find your own table. The menu gave off Cheesecake Factory vibes -- lots of options, some solid picks, but we came for breakfast. We were a party of 10, and the person taking our order had a lot of patience, which we appreciated. We managed to split across a couple of tables, and when a larger one opened up, we asked if we could move. The server's response? Pretty dry. Whether she was over her shift, didn't get the day off, or just wasn't feeling it, she told us in a sharp tone we had to wait for the table to be bussed. Like, relax -- not that serious. Luckily, an older gentleman working the floor stepped in and took care of us. Super attentive and kept things moving. As for the food -- I ordered the French toast, and honestly, I wasn't impressed. It was dry and had uneven blotches of cinnamon, like they tried to make it look fancy but missed. Either use a finer shaker or just go with powdered sugar. It didn't land. The eggs were also dry. I'd suggest using a splash of milk or butter to get that smoother, softer scramble -- more of a French-style (œufs brouillés) vibe.

Ive been coming here for years and i have had the risotto which is delicious! The service is fast and comes back to check on you often, but the line can get long. It can get packed quickly but there is outside seating. I now get the avo chicken panini which is soo delicious. I love their fries (like potato slices). Everything is a generous portion. They have breakfast and anything you could want. The fresh orange juice is amazing! Love coming here - its well lit and a family atmosphere

We have been coming to Marketplace since it opened as we live nearby. The quality of the food has remained consistent as the service had. The manager JJ, servers Mariol and Rose are absolutely the best. Marketplace also supports local organizations and community schools with donations. So happy with this business in our community. I highly recommend the Greek Salad with steak. Best feta cheese I've had.

@ Peter P Owner, please bring the Long Beach location back I'm obsessed with marketplace and I miss it so much being local to my city. When I get a chance I make the drive to Downey because it's that worth it. Avocados chicken panini with the potato's is chefs kiss!

Good service but some of the food are a little bland, good for those on diets. The lemon vinaigrette is just vinegar and lemon and oil no spices. Pro tip to management tru panini kabobs lemon vinaigrette and remake it here please. The chicken soup is great, but the salmon is flavorless. Their jambalaya is also good here.

Loveee that this place has a drive through. The food was super fresh when we got it! Great portions to the food. It is a tad expensive, but if ima pay this is how I expect the food to be. With a lot of favor, fresh and making me want to go back. Will definitely be coming back.

The Greek salad with chicken is tossed in a delicious, tangy and craveable dressing but it also comes at a hefty price of $18 and change considering it's a bowl greens with some tomatoes, onions, cucumbers with slices of chicken and pita triangles. The servers are attentive.

I was craving this spot since I used to come here all the time and I was not disappointed! I went with the trusty chicken Alfredo and love how rich the flavor is! Their onion rings are also the perfect amount of crunch and flavor. We went around lunch time to there was virtually no wait and there was plenty of seating available, inside and outside. Their pastries were great too! I'm a sucker for cheesecake so it was easily top tier to me. Only downside was the red velvet cake was a bit dry for my liking. My girlfriend loved this spot too, so we will for sure end up coming back!

Their food options are amazing! They have a wide variety of options and healthy options. I got the club sandwich and my sister had the chicken Alfredo. I also got an iced vanilla latte and my sister got a cappuccino and a side of fruit. The servers are extremely nice and attentive. The place was also clean. Great to bring your family.

Greek salmon salad was delicious, service was quick and the ambience is so enjoyable sitting outside.

I come here once in a while because my mom really likes one of their paninis. On Mother's Day when she requested this for lunch, I was happy to pick this up for her and decided to get something for myself too. Unfortunately, the problem is outside of a couple of their paninis, most of the items here aren't that tasty, they consistently lack in flavor and almost any dish here starts around $20, but it doesn't taste like it. The service is not bad and the ambiance is average. I feel like over the years their food quality and value has gone down, not really a place I would recommend when there are better options nearby. This place is delicious! They're portions are huge compared to the price! It is definitely worth going there and trying their food! I ordered a lettuce wrap burger which is half a pound with chipotle sauce instead of thousand island! I ordered a medium rare and it came with tomatoes, onions, and the lettuce was wrapped! It comes with two sides so I decided to get sweet potato, fries, and fruit! The burger was amazing and they were able to make it medium rare for me! The sweet potato fries, we're good, and the best part was they give you a big portion of fruit!

No gristle or chewy pieces of fat. Expenses: 1/1 Standard prices, think it was in the 14-16 dollar range. Location: 1/1 Nice casual, clean spot with quick, attentive service. Plenty of parking, accept debit cards, and has indoor dining options. Possibility of a Future Visit & Recommendation: 1/1 I'd come back for that sandwich and to try other items, and I'd recommend it if you are in the area.

Soon as walking in we were acknowledged. I was undecided on what to order but the young lady at the register was very informative about the menu. We sat after and food came out fairly quickly. Fantastic service ! The food was a great portion very lovely breakfast.

Everything here is delicious. Brunch, lunch or dinner. Food is fresh! I like the selections on desserts.

So I finally made it around to have breakfast here, we ordered the bacon and eggs breakfast and a side of sausage the sausage was extremely salty and honestly I couldn't eat it. I continued to eat the rest of my food until I got to the last bite of my scrambled eggs, I was so disgusted as I chewed on some eggshells that was it for me, I had to spit out my food. It was early in the morning and there was one other person there, service was good our waiter was super nice, just disappointed on the food tho, it's not like the cooks were in a hurry and didn't see the eggshells going into the scramble. 4/15/24

it all seemed pretty basic... i got a chicken salad with lemon vinaigrette, but it had no flavor whatsoever. i liked the toast and fresh avocado better. my bf got a burrito but it also was mediocre. the service was great tho! clean establishment! clean restrooms, big parking lot, and happy employees. i MIGHT give it a second try, but its iffy.

This was one of the best dining experiences I've had. There are many menu options to choose from so selecting food might be a bit overwhelming at first. However, the staff were very welcoming and helped provide recommendations. Ordering and payment takes place at the counter. I chose to have the appetizer platter and Philly cheese steak panini. The environment was great, the place was definitely packed, but it felt comfy and clean. Once our food was brought to our table, the serving size was great and the presentation was impressive! Overall, the food was very delicious and exceeded my expectations. Staff frequently checked in on our table to help us if we wanted to request a water refill or wanted some sauce.

Horrible. Make sure your order is all in the bag before you step out of the restaurant for any Togo orders. Make sure the food looks exactly like the images .. I placed a Togo order and items were missing, had to drive back , wait for items that has not even been made with the rest of my order ? Chicken was dry , salad had no chicken .. nobody from my family ate any of the food we ended up going out to eat .

Why can't we give half stars? Anyhow, we went a few weeks ago and service was good, ambiance was great. The food was good BUT it was cold. Food was okay, nothing special. Service did take time especially for drink refills. Slightly pricey for what it offers. Onion rings were tasteless and the potatoes were slightly tough.

I'm not sure if we just went on an off day but the food was not good. We had the steak pita and the chicken sandwich. They were both pretty bad. The steak was fatty and chewy. The chicken sandwich wasn't much better. I don't think I'll go back. It certainly wasn't worth 40 dollars.

I love their avocado chicken panini. It's my go-to whenever I lunch here. I've tied other dishes, and their meat is always tender and delicious. I liked the tortilla soup I tried today, but wasn't a fan of the house cut potatoes. Music is always playing and everyone is friendly.

The service is great and the investment is wonderful I ordered the ribeye steak with eggs and hash browns, fast service good service and great service highly recommended!:)

This place does not disappoint. -The Food I've had many dishes here and the use of fresh ingredients is instantly noticeable. My go to's are mostly the salads, they are generously portioned and delicious. -The Service It's an order and sit motto and you have your food served. The staff is friendly, I dont have much to add beyond this, it's good. -The Ambiance I like it. I mostly enjoy eating outside since I like to read a bit after my meal. This place provides a friendly environment for quick lunch meetings, get some work done, or simply enjoy your meal and be on your way.

Fresh food, a great variety to order from. Some plates can be a bit pricey. Good size portions. Never had a bad dish here. I like how most plates come with a salad. Served is fast too.

The Marketplace in Downey used to be one of my favorite restaurants. Not any more!!! Apparently bad management. It takes THREE phone calls before anybody answers the phone for your to-go order. Too many times, the Greek Feta potatoes are not freshly cooked--looks like they are two days old and are tasteless. Often the olives are missing in the salad. The MP grilled chicken wrap is supposed to have avocado--not today, however. The music is too loud and over-powering--difficult to talk to your dinner partner. Even though I live less than ten minutes away, I will NEVER set foot in this establishment again!!! The quality and preparation of the food is the main problem.

Definitely want To come And try this Place I was at the drive-through and I was looking at the menu when I was ready to order. I said hello a few times I stayed there for 10 minutes. No one came so I had to reverse out of the drive-through but I definitely want to try this place hopefully they'll have time to take my order next time.

The place is right up the street from where I work. I come here to order the chicken wrap which comes with 2 sides of your choice. I get the salad and sweet potato fries. The amount of food you get for the price is worth it. They're pretty quick as well in preparing the food. Staff have all been pretty friendly. It's dine in and drive thru. There's always people there and can be busy during lunch hours. Will definitely continue to come here and hopefully try some other items off the menu.

Ordered the Avocado Chicken Panini Sandwich via the drive thru today. Get to my office to enjoy my meal and there's absolutely NO avocado to be found in or around my sandwich. Feel completely cheated and bamboozled especially for the cost of the meal. The young lady working the window had a great personality though.

2 stars cause the food was okay but the service was awful. Specifically the waitress, she honestly ruined our whole meal. She was rude, rushed us, ignored us while giving the tables around us extra care, and we really were asking for much. When we wanted things like extra dressing or a refill, including asking when the rest of our food is coming (which we asked politely) she disregarded us or gave us a short answer so she can get back to talking to other customers. Even something as simple as getting dessert from the display, she said they ran out of the item that i was already charged for, rushed me to get a refund instead of asking if i wanted something else, forgot about our table, then when i decided to walk up myself and get the refund it turns out they had the damn item that i ordered. This is the worst service ive had in a while tbh, food is not worth their shitty workers lol.

The menu (paper menu) is overwhelming due to the amount of items. Ordered the Asian salad which tasted nothing like an Asian salad. I tasted American/Latin salad due to the red peppers, grilled chicken and dressing. The dressing was a combination of red salsa, vinegar and maybe sesame dressing combined. NOT good at all! Service was just ok and ambiance was ok. I do not recommend this restaurant. One of the ladies was kind and checked on me so that is why I'm giving it 2 stars.

Yum. When they say that they give big portions, they mean it. Ordered the salmon Greek salmon which came with something like 6 pita slices and 12 Oz of delicious salmon for $20ish dollars. So worth it cause I was hungry and it was delicious. Def 2 servings a dish. Cut to try their panini next time. Highly recommend

I visited over the weekend, and it seemed like they had cost cuttings in their menu. I ordered the skirt steak, and it was not what I was expecting, since I often order that plate. The steak was very low quality. Do not order the horchata

I called to place a to go order at about 12:45pm. I called 3 times - no answer. I called again and a girl finally answered. I told her I wanted to place an order to pick up. She told me to hold on. After 6 minutes of waiting, I hung up. Must be nice NOT to need customers!!! :( A co-worker told me they do this all the time. They put you on hold and I guess they hope you'll hang up???

I found a catapilar in my fruit. I told staff they asked if i wanted another side of fruit... left catapilar as live entertainment on our table. 30 min later staff comes and ask if she can show manger insect takes fruit shows kitchen staff and we can clearly see the whole kitchen staff laughing at the catapilar. Felt humiliated and disgusted

I just wanted to update my review and point out how lately the restrooms have been pretty gross. They always used to be up to par and clean but the last two times I've gone the toilets have been dirty. There was a lot of toilet paper on the floor mixed with water or other liquid. Toilet seat covers are also on the floor. The doors do not close properly. I love this place but I can't stand a restroom that isn't cleaned up regularly. I still cannot give up this place and their yummy food!

First time trying this place and gotta say, I really liked it. Food was good, service was good and the ambiance was nice as well. I ordered the jambalaya pasta and I will definitely be going back for more. All of the food looks great here and they have drive throughWill definitely return for more.

I've eaten at this spot a few times and it never fails to disappoint. I love the mushroom soup of the day on Mondays and usually get the chicken or shrimp pastas. Portions are big and I feel are reasonably priced for the taste and presentation of the food. I would highly recommend trying this spot out if you've never dined here. This was usually my go-to when I didn't pack lunch. Yesterday, I arrived at the drive-thru and was the only one there. I ordered a simple Greek salad (no protein) and fries. It took over 40 minutes to receive the order. After I paid, I asked the lady at the drive-thru window for one ranch and one Cholula. Ten minutes had passed by, and he was nowhere to be seen. I had to park my car and go inside to ask for this. Expensive food, Terrible service! Stay away.
