Where to Eat and Drink During a Quick Trip to Shenandoah

"The quaint town of Sperryville recently saw the addition of a marketplace that doubles as an exciting spot for new eats either before or after a mountain hike. Fuel up at New Iberia Kitchen with po’boys and other Cajun specialities offered at brunch, lunch, and dinner. Or stock up on sweets, pastries, or chocolates at Walker Bakeshop and Wholehearted Chocolate. Top it all off with cold brew coffees or flat whites served at Firth River’s barista bar. There is something for everyone here." - Tim Ebner

I live in Culpeper and didn't even know this place was here. Now that I know, I will be here often. It is it's own "downtown" area. Park once and enjoy a bakery (the best I have ever smelled), coffee, a restaurant, artist's shops . . .. Copper Fox Distillery is here. I found The Marketplace Sperryville as I signed up for a class at Wild Roots Apothecary. FABULOUS! Don't miss it! NOTE: The Marketplace is not on the main drag. At the T-intersection in the middle of town, turn towards the Thornton River. Do not cross the bridge. Turn right on Water Street. Easy 1/2 mile drive and you are there.

Loved visiting this place. It was less than 5 minutes off the highway and it was pure chance that we happened to swing out to it. Definitely need to put a sign on the highway because I am so glad we didn't miss it. They have so many shops in there and I only wish we'd had more time to spend there. We tried the bakery and the coffee shop and both were excellent. The bakery had a whiskey and rye cookie that was absolutely to die for- there were chili flakes on top and my husband and I agreed that it was *chef's kiss*. We will definitely be back when we come through in the fall for Shenandoah.

There's always something interesting at Sperryville Marketplace. The art work, Walker's Bakery, the Natural Earth Store.

Worth the three minute drive off the highway. Adorable local art, great coffee, delicious croissants, and don’t miss the chocolatier!
