The Marshal

The Marshal is a small but very cozy spot serving elevated American food. There are some highlights: our server was great, even as the restaurant got very busy at peak times on Saturday. Food wise, their small plates were very good. The deviled eggs were the best I've had, and we also enjoyed the tomato sides and bread. Some space for improvement (or things that were not for us): some of entrees really didn't have that much depth of flavor--the gnocchi, for example, tasted too much like cream of mushroom of soup. We'd come back, if only to try some of their other small plates.

Delicious food and great customer service! The Mac and cheese and chicken wings were very good and the breadsticks for starters are delicious! Would definitely recommend and make a reservation as they were full on a Sunday night!

It’s a very small restaurant with cute interiors. We’re not super hungry so we had three appetizers and a salad to share which was more then enough. We had Mac and cheese, chicken wings, and ribs. For the salad we had beets salad. All were delicious. For dessert we had the cobbler. The only issue I had was they don’t serve decaf coffee which was a bit odd!

The bbq rib to share and short rib were fantastic as well as a pear pizza. The service was friendly and helped create a cozy environment on a cold winter afternoon.

It’s a nice small intimate restaurant. I highly recommend the burrata and chicken salad. We also ordered two pizzas but we weren’t a fan of them.

Great pizzas! We also tried the steelhead trout served over roasted broccolini, cremini porcini ragout, sundried tomato caper beurre blanc and the cod with white wine & caper reduction over roasted sage & autumn squash purée. The trout was good, but wasn’t a fan of the combination of cod and squash purée. The portions of fish were small given the price (almost $40). The choice of wine by the glass is very limited. The place was PACKED. Small thin restaurant that can feel cramped on one side of the restaurant, neighbors being 1 inch away. The other side’s tables are adjacent to the was length-wise.

Came here for brunch and they sat us outside because we didn’t have reservations enough tho inside was only half full. I get it’s a small and cozy spot. Amidst all the noise and pedestrians eyeing our food on the smallest of table ever, we enjoyed our lunch. I really wanted to try the “world famous meatloaf” but they initially gave me the wrong menu, and they don’t serve it during brunch/lunch. The smoked duck breast pizza and short rib hash was decent, nothing out of this world.

Great spot for lunch! We got 3 different kinds of pizza ( with pear, duck, and prosciutto), and all of them were delicious! The atmosphere is very pleasant and friendly, but the place itself is quite small.

Update: So glad the peach summer pizza is back! A perfect combination of fresh peaches, arugula, mozzarella and blue cheese. Wow! Totally enjoyed it with the great heirloom tomatoes salad. Of course, ever forget the burrata appetizer or the Summer in a Bottle wine! Fabulous service by Theo; and always good to see Charlie (chef/owner). Thanks for a lovely evening... Wonderful evening! Dined with friends that have never been to The Marshal. Charlie, chef/owner, and Theo, favorite server, were as wonderful as always! The burrata always a "must" for appetizer and we shared 3 pizzas! Cannot tell you which was best! Some fun new options: had the Shrimp Scampi pizza (new and way better than it sounds); the Porcini/Truffle pizza (always a fab choice) and the summer special: peach/blue cheese/arugula (had it last summer and were so, so surprised with the wonderful medley of flavors!). Wine selections always great, and we always trust Theo's recommendations! Leave some space for the cobbler - never disappoints. Thanks for a lovely evening...

Arrived at 12p for our brunch reservation and was quickly seated in this fairly small space. The room was filled and I was wary of the service but to much of my surprise, our server was amazing! He was attentive, despite being the main server for every table. He was quick on his feet and had a clear organized system of seating guests, bringing them water, giving them time to review the menu while serving other guests. By the time he was done putting out food orders for a few of the table, he took our order and very smoothly asked if we wanted to try the biscuits. We hesitated because we were already ordering 2 entrees and we rarely finish our food when we are out. So glad we took him up on it and it was decadent! Fluffy buttery biscuits with a side of a jam that's not too sweet but the honey whipped butter was beautiful made and spread so smoothly over the halves of our biscuits. The Margherita pizza and Paillard Entree Salad arrived shortly after. Pizza was delicious. Tomato sauce was not over the top, nice hint of sweetness and went well with the basil. The salad was not overly dressed and had that nice balance of cold and bitterness from the mesclun leaves and the warmth and light saltiness of the chicken. It was very beautifully put together. Highly recommend! Brunch in 75 mins and we were able to make our 2pm show on Broadway! Great day! Thanks guys!

Awesome service, delicious food, great vibe. This place isn't the biggest in terms of space but the flavors are "big" and yummy. We had the biscuits, the deviled eggs (my absolute favorite) and the chicken wings for app and they did NOT disappoint. The vegan pizza doesn't sound like it would be tasty but it was soooo good, with garlic and arugula and a tasty marinara. I honestly didn't miss the cheese. It was that good! My son got pepperoni pizza, which had dried pepperoni packed with flavor and was perfectly placed on a thin crust. The servers were incredibly friendly and helpful. And the drinks (I'm looking at you Apple Barrel) were soooo good!! You gotta try this place if you're in Hells Kitchen. LGBTQIA+ friendly and just an all around cool vibe.

Such a lovely dining experience!! Everything is farm to table, and you can absolutely taste it. We got the summer peach pizza on cauliflower crust and the beet salad. Both were amazing, and we appreciated gluten free options. Service was so attentive. Multiple waiters and the chef/owner checked on us throughout. We had to move our table less than 3 inches for them to make room for a larger party, and they comp'd a dessert for us which was really sweet. I was hoping there would be a bar so I could sit and read for an hour before catching a bus (visiting from out of town). There isn't a bar, but the owner was happy to have me stay at my table a little longer. This will definitely be my post-Broadway dinner spot moving forward!

I was in the area for something else and I was hungry so I decided to have "linner" (late lunch/early dinner) here a bit before 5pm. There were a few people sitting outside and it looked like a cute space, plus they described themselves as a farm-to-table and "wood-fire" place so it sounded good. Service was friendly--first a young man who seated me & took my drink order, for which he helpfully gave suggestions when I asked. I got the Elderflower Blossom cocktail since I wanted something refreshing. This was brought over by my waitress, a friendly young woman who I also asked for recommendations. I asked her what she would recommend between the burger or chicken or cod, and she said the burger being wood-fired made it especially good. She didn't ask how I wanted it cooked so maybe being wood-fired it is just fine one way. Anyway I went with that as an entree, plus the deviled eggs for an app. The deviled eggs were pretty good and the burger was HUGE since it came with 2 patties. The cheese melting all over it and it being fresh & hot did make it fairly impressive. It came with sweet potato fries, some of which had the nice wood-fire char, others that needed to be cooked more/crisper. The ketchup was "home made" so it had a different taste that I liked well enough. I could not finish so much so I took some of it to go, although I know that this is not the kind of food that travels well & is best eaten right away. Food was on the pricier side but I enjoyed it overall. There is one small no-gender bathroom which was kind of claustrophobic & dark & didn't smell great (since there's just 1 bathroom for everyone) but it was still fairly clean. I would come back here if I was in the area to maybe try the wood-fire pizzas or brunch.

I had dinner at The Marshal last night with my husband and friend, and it was such an exceptional experience! The food is SO DELICIOUS. I loved everything we ordered from the harissa roasted cauliflower to the different pizzas we tried. My favorite was the special seasonal pizza, which was made with a ramp pesto. Very flavorful. You can really see and taste the care that goes into the dishes at The Marshal, and it makes such a difference that the ingredients are sourced locally. Absolute perfection. The service was fantastic too.

A solid 4 Stars ... Salad, fish (Cod), meatloaf - all good Nice service - not great - just a good solid place. It's worth a visit - a true "four".

These biscuits are amazing!!!! I can't wait to come back for this and there baby back ribs?

Snagged a table in this tiny place thats rustic and cute. We were told we had a time limit because there was a private party coming in. Not a great way to welcome your guests. We had the ribs and deviled eggs which were great. I ordered the blue cheese stuffed meatloaf which was not a great move. Unfortunately it came out looking very unappetizing but I ate some and it tasted ok not great. After the uncomfortable time limit thing they ended up buying us dessert which was nice but didn't really jive with the whole get out by the time our private party arrives. We were finishing up as they began to file in so it got a little awkward. Overall the apps were better than the entrees and a nice time was had by all.

I ordered a BBQ ribs to go on lunch at 11:30am, thanks for opening at such an early time, giving me opportunity to try this dish. The girl is very patient and friendly. $17 per order and contains 5 ribs, taste good and tender. If I have chance, definitely will come back and try more dishes on dinner time or brunch time., price is fair enough.

The ambiance here is great, with a rustic feel and lit interior. The service was also attentive. The food started great. We got the burrata appetizer, which came with delicious bread sticks, pesto, and balsamic. I would come back just for this! We got two pizzas, the three meat and the truffle. While both had great flavor, I was a little disappointed by the soggy middle crust. The pizza was quite limp. This was the reason for the 4 instead of 5 stars as I love and was expecting a crispy crust from a wood fire oven pizza.

Wow this was good food. We kicked off the meal with an array of herb breadsticks with burrata and an assortment of sauces, along with a sumptuous shaved brussel sprout Caesar salad. Both dishes were spot on. Then the sausage and mushroom white pizza, which was loaded high with toppings, was tasty and perfectly grilled. And we practically licked the cast iron skillet the barbecue pork ribs were served in, filled with a sweet, tangy sauce. The team here are really magicians with the brick oven. Finish off the meal with a maple marshmallow s'mores dessert and a bubbling pear cobbler, and I think we had ourselves one of the best dinners of 2023. The servers were all super sweet and attentive, and the ambiance is great for a first date or dinner with a 'cool' set of parents. We will definitely be coming back.

Nice farm-to-table brunch spot. As you might expect, there are no deals to be had here. The whipped honey butter was the best rendition I've encountered. Our waiter wasn't particularly good. At one point he mentioned "I'm going to keep checking up on you guys periodically" which meant he was about to abandon us and we would have to flag down someone else for things like water refills, despite having asked our original waiter ten minutes prior.

This was our first time in New York and we were so excited to try various restaurants. This was by far my favorite place we ate. Service was a 10. Theodore was our server. Matter of fact he was the only server and he ran those tables like nothing I had ever seen. He gave us great recommendations, very attentive, and was so nice. Food is another 10! We had Deviled Eggs and local burrata as starters. They did not disappoint. I would highly suggest both. I wanted to try the short ribs too but we also wanted mains. Maybe for next time!! We all got something different and tried each others for comparison. Everyone enjoyed the roasted Brussels sprout salad, the meatloaf, and the cauliflower side. We also ordered two pizzas and they were both good but I would like to try others dishes over the pizza next time. I like a lot of sauce but that is preference and the pizza had great flavor so I cannot complain. The atmosphere was dark but not intimidating. I give it a solid 9. I feel like we had the best seat in the house right at the window and I was able to take in the people passing by. It was our first night in NYC and it felt nostalgic! I love the concept of farm to table and I feel like you can definitely taste the difference. This is a great find and close to most hotels if you are a tourist!! I would definitely go back!

One of the best restaurants in Hell's Kitchen. Many healthy and clean options. Our server, Dawson, was adorable. Pizzas were SO good, veggies were fresh, and the local wine list was impressive.

This review is for brunch. We had the pleasure of being served by Dawson again, who is a consistently delightful person and so good at his job. I am so mad at myself for not having brunch here earlier. The eggs with pesto and polenta dish is simply incredible! I'm still dreaming about it. The French toast is also very very good. We sat under the awning and it started drizzling but we stayed dry. Thank you Charlie and team for making it a 10/10 experience every single time.

Wow! Everything is to like about The Marshal. A cozy, intimate spot with a wonderful menu and friendly, personable service. The drinks, app, meals and dessert we ordered were exquisitely prepared and delicious. I don't think you could go wrong with anything on the menu here. Our server paced our meal so we had time to enjoy our drinks and each course, a rarity these days in restaurants. We'll certainly return to The Marshal again. A++

Whether a victim or a perpetrator of inflation, this restaurant contributes : 17 bucks for an old fashioned served with 4 big ice cubes, and still not filled, is absurd. Quite good food, but, again, inflated prices. I know the restaurant business is highly competitive and I know inflation is a macroeconomic issue, but nothing I ate nor its spotty service makes me think I'll go back. It was good, even very good, but overpriced.

The food was delicious, and Dawson provided excellent service. I loved the atmosphere! I recommend this if you're looking for an intimate yet vibrant dining experience.

A friend who lives in HK suggested going here as it was her favorite restaurant. It doesn't look like much and is a nice cozy spot- and wow the food does not let you down! The pizza was very good and all the brunch items were also super tasty. The service was also super friendly and fast!

I got the wood fired grill sausage and mushroom pizza. It was the best pizza I have ever had. Thin crust but the edges were perfectly smooth and stayed soft all the way through eating.

We were very pleasantly greeted by Charlie, the owner, who was very personable and accommodating of us arriving to our reservation early. Food very clearly high quality and we thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. Thanks Charlie!

Love this place! Met Charlie, the owner the first time visiting, which was last Thanksgiving for dinner. Had a FANTASTIC meal and a great glass of NY Riesling. Conversation was awesome with the owner and all the food was great. Visited again with my sister and her wife last weekend. Server could have been friendlier and more attentive. She seemed "distracted" but took our order, etc. the other server, a tall friendly dude was chatting up his tables, so we felt a bit robbed. Sis in law had a scrumptious and juicy burger. The fries with it were also most excellent. I had a beet salad, which was terrific and full of beets and blue cheese. My sister, unfortunately had the cauliflower crust farmers market pizza. She said the parts that weren't burnt were very tasty. Unfortunately it was very thin crust and must have cooked too quickly. I suggested she send it back, but she was a trooper and just enjoyed the pie from about 1-1/2" in from the edge. Overall a great experience - love the vibe of this tiny place and will still give it another try next time I'm in the city!

Excellent service from both the wait staff and the owner, who personally seated us, introduced himself and as we departed addressed us by name, thanking us for our visit. This was our second visit, bringing a friend from Texas who was visiting us. Charlie Marshall made us feel so welcome and Theo's personality is perfectly suited for this atmosphere. Great atmosphere, amazing food and the perfect vibe made our birthday dinner special. Thank you!

The service was terrible. They sat us outside and forgot about us. Had to call the restaurant to get silverware. There was a hair in the food.

My 2 girlfriends and I picked this restaurant upon searching cozy Hell's Kitchen restaurant.. what a revelation! The Hudson Valley Cab was delicious.. the focaccia burrata app was perfection.. the the show stopper was the caci de Pepe pizza- a true marvel! The owner & server were amazing.. kitchen staff were impeccable. This felt like a 5 star restaurant snuggled in the Hudson Valley on a farm- sweet escape from the bustle of the city. We cannot wait to enjoy our leftovers!

I walked past this place so many times and never went in thinking what's so special about farm to table pizza. Boy was I wrong. This place is absolutely amazing. The staff and chef are all wonderful. Deviled eggs for brunch are a must have. All of their food looked so delicious. We ordered the deviled eggs, polenta, and burrata pizza. Every single item was amazing. The pizza wasn't the usual NY pizza, it was wood fire and easy to eat. Little heavy on the cheese, which was great for me, but I know it's a lot for some, so I would ask to go lighter on the mozzarella. The tomatoes were so fresh and delectable. Cannot wait to go back!

The friendly staff were quick to greet us and welcome us to our table! The quant interior is NYC with a cozy vibe! The flavors of the food were only outdone by the freshness!! A must do for a great meal!! Can't say enough about the owner and staff!!

I ran in here on a whim with my daughter when we were passing by late at night. The atmosphere is perfect! Quaint, beautiful and welcoming. We were really close to closing time but Noah is amazing, so sweet and accommodating and we never once felt rushed! Now to the food! We ordered the Cacio E Pepe gluten free pizza and the Mushroom & Sausage pizza (minus the sausage). The Cacio E Pepe was absolutely DELICIOUS and I loved the gluten free crust! I couldn't try my daughter's pizza but she loved hers as well. I highly recommend this place! You will not be disappointed!

One of my favorites in Hell's Kitchen. It's a small space so reservations recommended. Deviled eggs as an app are a must, they are crazy good. The drink menu is great & nice wines offered too. We've had the pizzas, soups, entrees. Have enjoyed it all!

Went here with a big group for dinner which was difficult as it is a small restaurant. They do have both inside and outside seating year round. Sampled a few of their salads and pizzas which were good and great for sharing. Everything in The restaurant is sourced from New York State including the wine and beer. Great job keeping it local. Everyone at the restaurant was very nice and offered great recommendations for what we were ordering and what worked well for a group.

Cute little place near the Theater District. We went for the GF pizza and it did not disappoint. Very good wine selection by the glass also. We also had a very personable waiter.

The Marshal is consistently good. Service this last time was exceptional, a step up from the last time. Attentive. Friendly. The deviled eggs which my husband LOVES were as good as he remembered. It's one of the main reasons we come here, especially since they don't offer it as an option on take out. It's probably too hard to transport and have it be as fabulous as it is. I got admit, they're pretty delicious. The pizza was good. We got the three meat one this time. It wasn't our favorite. The Marshal's specialty is really their white pizzas, of which they have about two dozen different variations. We probably should have stuck with one of those. But even so, the pizza was still enjoyable, albeit a little over cooked. All in all, this is still a favorite neighborhood spot.

When I went to New York, I came upon this restaurant with a nice looking menu that caught my attention. I decided to eat outside as the weather was too warm for what I'm used too, plus the inside of the restaurant looked full. I chose the "Roasted Brussel Sprout Salad" which was a heaping-full plate, delicious, and much more than I was able to eat then. While having my meal, I did notice a lot of bike couriers coming to collect meals to deliver to others, so seeing this traffic, I can see this appears to be a popular restaurant amongst the locals in this area.

Moving this spot to my top 5 places to eat in NY. When I have friends from out of town I will make a reservation here. Service is super friendly. I've been here 3 times already. Everything we had has been amazing. Duck pizza, beet salad, baby back ribs, and the deviled eggs are the top picks. For dessert get the chilled fudge. If you get the s'mores get a side of the vanilla gelato. Can't wait to visit again!

Really enjoyed the meatloaf and the Mac and cheese. A bit surprised by the way as the main picture is cheating. It is showing the place as twice size it really is. It DOES have outdoor seating. Regardless I think it's more intimate and that's better. Great food. Staff was great. Very nice. I'll go back. Wife loved it as well.

Solid food, great service, fresh ingredients. Atmosphere was cozy but loved the outdoor area and front window. White pizza and kale salad were both great. Gluten-free fig, blue, arugula also very good. Nice NY rosé cider.

I have lived in the area for some time and had never stopped by but wish I had. I decided to go one weekday afternoon [too late for lunch but to early for dinner] I was seated immediately and my drink order was taken. I decided to get a glass of club soda and then looked over the menu. The menu was extensive with their farm to table options and I was hungry but not overwhelmingly so and so I decided on a salad. I opted for the red and golden beet salad with local mesclun greens, bleu cheese, candied walnuts, sorrel and topped off with white balsamic vinaigrette. The salad arrived in a short span of time. The waiter was somewhat perplexed that I had made my choice so quickly when I arrived but I had already perused the menu. There are a lot of options making a return visit likely. It is a small space, narrow with a bar towards the back. The food was delicious, the price reasonable for the area and the waitstaff was accommodating. I would recommend and return especially to try other food options!

Great meal. My daughter and I shared the Brussels sprouts salad and the fig, prosciutto and blue cheese pizza. She had the Montauk Mule and I had Orange Blossom drink. Everything was fabulous. Theo was a great server. We are outside because it was a nice day. Inside was a cool and small but the music would have been a smidge loud for us to have good conversation.

I really love the food and care they put on their dishes. We had wonderful Deviled eggs, the pesto where it sits makes it for a different experience for this classic and sometimes boring dish. The burrata also, super fresh and simple. Simple is good when you have great ingredients. I finished the brunch with a very wonderful short rib hash that was so good. Good job on them.

We had an absolutely outstanding brunch at The Marshal! We enjoyed sitting outside in the heated space (they even offered us blankets to keep warm, but we were comfortable in our jackets). Highly recommend starting with the biscuits (and splurge for the bacon butter) - the cherry preserves and whipped butter are delicious. The meatball frittata was really tasty and unique - I loved the sauce. Would very happily return to try any of the pizzas!

Best pizza I've had in NYC!! The crust is perfect and the ingredients are super fresh. It also looks amazing which is nice. Charlie is a really nice guy and the service has been exceptional when i go in. Highly recommend trying this place!!

Ok, so first off this restaurant is right after the Lincoln Tunnel. Went there with my wife to visit my sister and her boyfriend for dinner from out of state. Wonderful tight knit space (yes, small) but we got the table next to the door so I was super comfortable. We ordered quite a few things; the beet salad, deviled eggs with bits of bacon on top, 3 pizzas (duck, 3 meats and mushroom), meatloaf, a few drinks and a chocolate desert (forgot the name but it's the one which seems to have bars of chocolate in it). Service: SPECTACULAR. I noticed all the patrons were taken care of really well including us. The owner stopped by and made some recommendations (my wife's a vegetarian). The pizza here was out of the world. My least favorite was the duck pizza. I am having a hard time choosing between the 3 meats and the mushroom. Both were just outstanding. The deviled eggs were muuuuuaaaahhhhhhh. I usually do not like bacon bits (I like the good ole fashioned bacon and eggs but I don't like everything bacon) but this one went super well with the deviled eggs. I can't wait to visit them again.

Celebrated a birthday in NY and came across this restaurant. Couldn't have had a better experience. Our server, Dawson, was the best. Food and drinks were amazing. Appreciated the surprise birthday treat at the end.

WOOD FIRED PIZZA - the four cheese version - was delicious today. Loved the fresh oregano & flavor. Lots of cheese, tasted like it just came out of the wood oven. One of the best pizzas in Manhattan. A bit salty, will try the Margherita pizza next time. The 12 inch classic neapolitan pizza is enough for two people or sliced up as an appetizer for more. They really pack on the cheese, tastes very high quality & fresh.

Had dinner here on our trip to NYC, everything was fantastic! We had the Meatloaf, unbelievable richness and unique, and others had pizzas, all great!
