Outstanding venue! This is truly a unique drinking and dining experience in the St Louis area. Speakeasy vibes, with a rooftop patio. What more could you ask? John took outstanding care of us at the bar. We enjoyed our choices and cannot wait to return to The Maryland House.

I've always been intrigued by "off the beaten path" types of places where you can have a few drinks in a cool atmosphere. The Maryland House definitely fits that bill. We went upstairs without a reservation and sat at the bar while two private parties were going on (the host was nice enough to take the time and explain the lay of the land). Maryland House offers small plates, but we were only there for a few drinks before dinner. Laith (I apologize if I got the name wrong) the bartender patiently listened as we described what types of drinks we wanted and proceeded to make a few of the most delicious and intriguing drinks we've ever had. The decor is eclectically photogenic and the music hits that perfect middle ground between background noise and "what is that cool song?". Highly recommended for a cool place to unwind.

Incredible venue!! The ambience was a cool vibe, the service could’ve been better, but the food was delicious. Wait, I fell to mention the drinks, yall the drinks were strong and on point, the bartenders did their thang behind the bar. Go check this spot out, you won’t be disappointed!

Great experience! We met the owner, Kevin, at his Brennan’s location by chance. The bar was closed for an event and he escorted us to the Maryland house bar. We had ‘all carrot, no stick’ and ‘Back to Kyoto’ cocktails. They were amazing. The bartender, John, was friendly and professional. ‘All carrot, no stick was my favorite drink of the night. The Maryland house bar is a hidden gem tucked between Edera Italian restaurant and suitsupply. The entrance is between the buildings leading to a beautiful artsy open area. There’s a green door to a business with an elevator to the 3rd floor. It is reservation only. We set our reservations so we can come back and have the full dine in experience. The venue is stunning but more importantly the cocktails are quality. 10/10.

This place is a hard pass for me. I bought a ticket to a special event only to stand in a line for the bar for 25 minutes. The bartender was notably busy, however there is no excuse other than shear negligence for me to have four individuals who arrived at the bar after me get served before me. Once I was finally asked what I’d like (and this was after I had to interrupt the bartender mid sentence when he decided to take yet another person’s order before requesting mine), I was told they didn’t have the drink I wanted available. I would not recommend this place to anyone who’s trying to chill with friends while also getting solid customer service. No one was rude, but let’s just say the blithe unawareness (an inconsiderateness) is seemingly both characteristic of the customers and the bar staff. Also, what kind of bar purporting to be classy doesn’t have amaro for sipping? It’s 2025!

If you need a cocktail, good vibes, great food, and amazing staff - come to Maryland House! Every experience has been a treat at MH. They’ve been lovely hosts to my boyfriend’s surprise birthday party, they have unreal deals for drinks and parties, and the snacks are always on point. While I personally can’t consume spicier food and drink, I love that they have such a unique offering on their menu. My personal favorites are the Bruce Lee One Inch Punch and the Stay At Bar Mom! Thanks for a fabulous time, every time :) P.S. - this is the sister spot to Brennan’s which is another fabulous spot in the Central West End.

We celebrated my cousin’s wedding there. The upstairs dining lounge was very crowded. The food selection was very decent.

Love the Maryland House! Unreal Thursdays are the best and Delaney is the perfect server.

Yelp
Very underwhelming experience! We made a reservation for the sushi pop-up at 8:30. When we arrived, most of their pop-up stuff was already gone on a 7-item menu. They gave us a menu with food and drinks, so we tried to order and was told none of the food items were available for the pop-up either. Drinks were pretty decent, but the food wasn't. We waited quite a while for it. Ended up ordering two carpaccios (because they said they were out of almost everything else), 1 No. 2 maki, and one sushi board. The food came out all mixed up or just we had no idea what we got, and no one explained it to us. Sushi rice was uncooked and fish was not fresh :( portions were small and confusing (?) I understand that they are more of a cocktail bar but since we made a "dining" reservation, I was expected to have food to eat. Service was super mid. Our waiter seemed really unhappy to be there. We left after 10 mins of having food to find real food :) Overall, just a bad experience.

Yelp
Sushi on a rooftop? Yes, please! I hit up the @marylandhousestl for a pop-up sushi event, and it was a whole vibe. Tickets were just $19 in advance ($35 at the door), so you know I snagged mine early. Even though I was only 10 minutes late, the sushi flew off the plates--like, gone. It was clear the chef was working overtime to keep up with demand, but every bite I managed to get was totally worth it--fresh, flavorful, and beautifully done. And don't worry, there was still plenty to eat. The rooftop itself? Gorgeous. Tons of comfy seating for big groups, and the cocktails? Perfectly crafted and so sippable--I could've stayed all night. Definitely a spot to keep your eye on for future events!

Yelp
Not as busy as I thought it would be for a Friday night but this was a super cool spot! The drinks were unique and delicious.

Yelp
This used to be Mandarin Lounge and it has completely changed! Came here for drinks and was hoping to order food but we came way too late. Our waiter was nice enough to bring us out a small bowl of chips. We ordered all carrot, no stick, Bruce Lee's 1in punch, and stay at bar mom. Our favorite was all carrot, no stick. We were seated in a covered outdoor area. There are a bunch of heaters so it's not too cold. We were hoping to sit inside where the couches and bar are for a different ambiance. When it cleared out, we went to the bar to order shots and the bartender was not friendly as if he seemed annoyed by us. There is another room by the restrooms that we thought was really cool. Totally a different vibe from the other room we were seated in. Would come back to try other cocktails and food.

Yelp
Maryland House is a VIBE. I think the thing I love most about it is that it's somewhat hidden. When you're walking on Maryland, walk past Edera and make a right down the sidewalk. The entrance is a door towards the back of the building on the left. You walk in and the person working the desk will ask how many are in your party. You'll then take an elevator up to the bar. From the decor, lighting, patio, and sitting options, it feels so elevated. The cocktails are absolutely incredible and made to order. They have a great amount of options to choose from, and the bartenders are helpful and pleasant. I think I found one of my new favorite spots. So excited to go back!

Yelp
Sheer ambience alone gets this spot to 5 stars. Walking in, you are greeted by the chrome bicycle behind the bar. The entire interior has a trendy, whimsical design that highlights sneaker, athletic, and graffiti culture. Was with a friend from New York and he said it felt like a new york bar--said as a compliment. Their menu is innovative. Plenty of modernity and experimentation going on with their signature drinks. I settled for a sidecar to end the night. It was solid. I need to get back to check out all this bar program has to offer. Oh, and the bathroom is a party of its own. They had a disco ball in there. The sink may be one of the coolest things I've ever seen. It was a waterfall sink and took me about 45 seconds to find. All in all, just coming in here for the ambience is well worth it. Trendy, lively. An awe-inspiring experience on a beautiful rooftop. Can't wait to get back and truly get the opportunity to experience all this spot has to offer

Yelp
We had a great dinner at Maryland House! The cocktails are top notch and so creative. We shared a number of different small plates in our party of 4 and the collective winner was the duck confit tacos! We loved them so much we ordered another round of them. We had an early reservation, 5pm on a Saturday, and it was still pretty empty at that time. As we were leaving it started filling up more. Super chill, dark and moody vibe. Would recommend this spot for drinks and small plates!

Yelp
This place feels so fancy to me. Great place for an anniversary or other celebration! Everyone was super kind and the whole vibe was fancy but also chill. I absolutely loved the rooftop area. My friend is having her wedding reception here so will update after that! Drinks were also amazing and there were so many creative options!

Yelp
This place is always delightful. The drinks are amazing. The rooftop bar is the perfect atmosphere for a nice evening. A great place to host parties or special events.

Yelp
Maryland House by Brennan's is a stylish cocktail lounge and private event space located in the Central West End of St. Louis. Everything from the location and interior design to the service and offerings makes Maryland House feel like an exclusive member's only club. Starting with location; Maryland house is located on the top floor of a nondescript building in Maryland Plaza. The main entrance can be found in an alleyway between Edera Italian Eatery and Suit Supply. The entrance opens to a small reception area that has an elevator up to the 3rd floor. Once upstairs, Maryland House reveals itself as a mix of several distinct interior spaces defined by unique furnishings and artwork. The focal point; however, is the large, semi-covered rooftop terrace that overlooks Maryland Plaza. When I arrived at 4pm, seating was open and I had the option to sit in any of the dining spaces. However, it is recommended that reservations are made online ahead of time to guarantee seating. The food menu includes small plates that take inspiration from a broad range of cuisines. I ordered the duck confit tacos and mushroom truffle burrata. Since I arrived during happy hour (Thursday-Friday; 4-5:30pm) I also received complimentary chips and onion dip for ordering two small plates. The food tasted great and was a well portioned snack for two people. To take advantage of happy hour (25% off select drinks) I also ordered the house Manhattan, which was exceptionally crafted and served. Overall, Maryland House is a great addition to the Central West End. I will be retuning for more happy hours in the future!

Yelp
Maryland House recently reopened at the beginning of April 2023 and I was excited to try it. Maryland House is a rooftop bar that serves crafted cocktails, wines, and small plates. The overall ambiance was spectacular and reminded me of a rooftop bar that you would find in a big city. Their space included an indoor bar as well as a covered outdoor patio space. I came during happy hour with a friend and decided to indulge in their happy hour deals. They offer 25% off selected cocktails as well as a buy 2 plates, get a chips and French onion dip for free. I ordered the Tom Collins which was served fresh. We ordered the duck confit tacos and mushroom truffle burrata and received the chips and French onion dip for free as a part of the happy hour deal. All the food was delicious and we even got a nice helping of duck in the duck tacos. I really enjoyed my overall experience and will definitely be looking forward to taking friends here when they come from out of town. The only difficulty I had with this bar was locating it. It is tucked away in the alley between Edera and Suitsupply. At the end of the alley, the doorway is on the left hand side. Once in the lobby, there is an elevator that will take you to the third floor where Maryland House is located.

Yelp
I'm a huge fan of Brennan's, so after walking in there for a quick nightcap for my sisters Birthday and it being packed, they sent us this way. It's a little hard to find as it's in an alley and the room you enter just looks like a woman in an office, but you go to her and she sends you up to the correct floor for the bar. We popped in on a Saturday evening and they happened to have space which was awesome. The waitress told us to come back another night because they had a different DJ filling in that wasn't their vibe. I hope she's right, because it was LOUD. We couldn't even hang out, we just drank our one drink in silence and left because we couldn't hear. The vibe is interesting, not sure if it was that specific night or not. We were pretty casual and this felt very fancy, and all very young professionals. We definitely felt out of place but again, the waitress was like "please come back". I feel like we could give it another try. Service was quick and drinks were good. They had a great menu.

Yelp
We went to The Maryland House after visiting the History Museum and we were able to walk-in and have a spot on the patio on a Thursday. We ordered the It's About Thyme and the Stay at Bar Mom. We liked both drinks - very unique and flavorful! We also ordered the shrimp ceviche and it was very fresh. There were tons of things on the menu I wanted to try - I'll be back!

Yelp
Enter under the sign. Not sure how membership works here as I attended as a guest for someone's birthday gathering. Would like to see how the atmosphere changes later in the evening. It's such a place to gather with friends. I would consider frequenting again for sure. Drinks were good! My favorite is the Gimlet.

Yelp
4 star ambience, 1 star service, 2 star execution. Was immensely excited when I first heard the news about Maryland house taking the former Mandarin space. And who better to do it than the owner of one of my favorite CWE bars, no less! But after trying this place 5 times over the past 18 months or so, I have to say it only gets progressively more disappointing each time. It begins with the awkward "are you a member/do you have a reservation" conversation upon arrival. I understand the membership model was part of your ethos in the beginning but it's time be honest and accept that it didn't work as planned. Once upstairs, you take a seat and are immediately asked for a credit card. Nothing says "we don't trust our customers" like requiring payment up front. Very off putting. And now's a good to mention that none of the staff seems to know how to work these card readers. It's always a struggle with them. Slow and weird to watch them stumble through the interface looking for a particular liquor. Nevertheless, hand one of the clumsy Debby Downers your card and order a cocktail... upon which you will receive A PRE MADE COCKTAIL. Is there anything more insulting than paying $15+ for a drink poured from a bottle that was made hours in advance? Oh and you can be sure they bust out the measuring cup to make sure you get exactly 1.5 oz. I understand the desire for efficiency and the whole "e-Myth book" business approach you're taking here, but man, how tone deaf do you have to be to serve customers this way? If people are in the mood for a cocktail, they want a fresh cocktail, not something made in bulk that morning. In summary, let me save you 20 minutes of your life (because that's about how long you'll stay here) and just tell you to go ahead and go somewhere else.

Yelp
Soooo tricky to find your way in but this place is beautiful and an elevated cocktail bar. I would warn you that at night, the music gets very very loud - so if that's not what you're looking for, may be good to tap out early. The cocktails here are wonderful - I really enjoyed the Stay at Bar Mom (hibiscus flavors), Carrot cocktail (creamy and delicious), Thyme cocktail (also creamy and delicious). My friend got the tuna tartare which she really enjoyed - she asked for it to be on a bed of cucumber instead of avocado and they were happy to oblige! There's bottles of water on the table for you to refill as you see fit which is nice. I would go here again for a drink or two but likely wouldn't stay for long because it does get very very loud for the space

Yelp
First time at Maryland house and we had a great time. Upstairs patio is beautiful and great place for apps and drinks. We had a couple drinks (no espresso martinis which was a bummer) and also had the steak, tuna tartar and peppered pizza. Food was incredible paired with a great ambiance. I feel like I can make and push deals here, brining clients here next time. I spent all of my dumb money here

Yelp
Very elusive. We walked past the enterance a few times since the person at the front desk was on a Mac with headphones in on a Friday night. I thought that was very cool. We took the elevator to the bar. The bartenders were very attentive and the drinks were delicious. The vibe was so cool. I would totally recommend for a date night. The bathroom was a vibe in itself-ladies should definitely visit the bathroom !! There is an extensive mocktails list, which is appreciated.
google avatar

Christie J.

Yelp
The vibes were great! We were able to sit outside at a communal table which was spacious. The servers were incredibly kind and attentive making sure we had water in addition to our drinks on the hot summer big if. We ordered a mix of cocktails and mocktails all of which my friends and I enjoyed. I personally ordered the strawberry shrub Mocktail which I loved and didn't taste just like fruit juice. The cucumber coconut was also a big hit and the spicy rim made it an extra fun non-alcoholic drink!

Yelp
Great venue with upscale feel and bacon views. Drinks were nice as well. Will definitely g back to an event here.

Yelp
Same owners as Brennan's (which I love) and in the Central West End! Through the courtyard and up the elevator we go. It's a vibe up here! Let's talk about this garlic ginger shrimp ! Holy moly it was good and #stlouispescatarianapproved spicy though! Loved it! We loved our waiter Miles! Hi Miles!
google avatar

Niki B.

Yelp
A sexy rehab of the former Mandarin in the CWE brought to you by Brennan's. Very sexy vibes with a great view of CWE. The drinks are tasty and inventive and the food is good as well. It's more of a lounge vibe than a club, even though they occasionally will have a DJ, but the DJ serves more as a background vibe. Dress casually sexy and have a cocktail on the rooftop!
google avatar

Paula R.

Yelp
I went here for a private event. The atmosphere is outstanding. I found the food to be just okay. Nothing special and nothing that will bring me back. Same thing for the drinks. The service was very good.
google avatar

Ashley B.

Yelp
My sisters and I went before the holidays and made a reservation. We went earlier (7pm) and they have a buffet of hors d'oeuvres for free! So we ate and ordered drinks. It was lovely!
google avatar

Terry G.

Yelp
Party of dos, came on a Friday night without reservations and were immediately seated at an outdoor community table. It is very beautiful and a great place for a date. It looked like the cozy chairs were reserved for people who made reservations so I would do that next time. The steak, tuna, burrata pizza were all VERY good. Cocktails also good but ....? no espresso martini! Would be 5 stars if they added a little caffeine to their repertoire.
google avatar

Audrey B.

Yelp
Very nice atmosphere and decor. The rooftop patio is lovely and an amazing addition to CWE. It was a little confusing getting in - the entrance is hidden but I actually thought that was kind of cool, felt like a speakeasy. However, once inside it was very unclear how to go about getting service and deciding where to sit. The host seemed taken aback that we didn't have reservations (we just randomly learned about it and decided to check it out for after dinner drinks) and said we could "try to find a spot at the bar" and expressed doubt that any seats would become available. We looked around and saw multiple empty spots so we assumed they were reserved. Once we got to the bar, the bartender said we didn't need a reservation and could sit wherever. We ended up finding seats on the outdoor patio and a server helped us the rest of the time. ‍ Drinks were expensive, but thoughtfully crafted and strong.
google avatar

Kim W.

Yelp
Great atmosphere and friendly staff. Very unique cocktails. Food was good. Kinda hard to find the place.
google avatar

Lauren B.

Yelp
This place and experience was absolutely amazing! It's a modern speakeasy which was the coolest concept. We had reservations for a girls night and it did not disappoint. We sat at the bar to start for drinks while we waited for our table on the patio to be ready. The bartenders were so friendly and so helpful with recommendations. The outdoor patio was beautiful and had tons of space. The food was also to die for! The burrata margherita pizza may be my new all time favorite pizza In the city. Can't wait to come back!

Yelp
Ambiance Think dark, mature and inviting and that's the space these guys created for their sophisticated membership clientele! It has hints of the other Brennan locations, cigar room, albums and turn table, quirky decor, velvet sofa and lounge music. They've turned the old night club into a sophisticated Members Only club. Location Located above the bustling CWE (Central West End) fountain in Maryland Plaza. In between a men's clothier and an Italian restaurant. Walk down the corridor and the door on the left is your entrance into the location. Go up to the 3rd floor and you'll be greeted by the lovely host/hostess. Seating There are several areas for seating. The rooftop round tables are for groups ONLY! There is a long bar to sit at, private rooms and more. Enjoy your time while there and enjoy the tapas like apps with a friend.

Yelp
Service fast . Ambiance is niiice the music is a vibe. I loved being here it feels cozy with splash music and people

Yelp
As an avid patron of the original Brennan's, I was excited to finally try Maryland House after reading about the owner's vision to replicate the upstairs at Brennan's. Unfortunately, it didn't take long for my disappointment to hit. Immediately upon walking in I was met with a room with no flow, disjointed furniture and decorations, and the look of somewhere that doesn't know what it wants to be. Once we were seated, it was nearly impossible to order drinks despite the fact the place was half empty. Oh, and that point is relevant for another reason: the door man/receptionist acted like he did us a favor letting us in without a reservation. Maybe he had to keep half of the place empty in case any "members" who pay $1k+ annually decided to show up? Maryland House is a disgrace to the original Brennan's and Mandarin. But hey, at least the bathroom sink is still the same!

Gabrielle S.

Yelp
Vibes and drinks are great! However, never order the shrimp ceviche. I'm not sure who approved that on the menu but it needs to be removed. I wish I took a picture of the shrimp soup I received.
google avatar

Kristian A.

Yelp
Great creative drinks and dope vibes! I got the tuna tartare and it was delicious. Can't wait to try the pizzas!

Joshua B.

Yelp
The staff was great. Very knowledgeable, nice, and attentive. The drinks were amazing as well. There were a lot of whiskey selections and allocates bottles to choose from. The food was not bad by any means, but it also did not blow me away. I went with some friends and we got the Curry, Pizza, and steak and a couple of appetizers that were just okay. Overall, I think it's a great place to have drinks with friends or go out for a date night still.

Alma B.

Yelp
Ambiance was great! Food selection needs improvement big time! Other than the food, I would recommend this place for date night or night out with friends.
