"Husband and wife, Mark and Sarah Dodson, run this pretty thatched pub in a secluded little village, which boasts spectacular views over Exmoor’s rolling hills. The cooking is more sophisticated than you might expect to find in a pub, with a concise seasonal menu of attractively presented dishes firmly rooted in British and French classics – such as an intensely flavoured raspberry soufflé. Mark has plenty of experience and employs the finest local produce to full effect, delivering pronounced, assured flavours. Service is charming, attentive and a perfect match for the food." - Michelin Inspector
Very happy that The Masons Arms have opened their doors again! Always a lovely feel in this little pub, with excellent service and friendly locals (and dogs!). The new menu is better than ever, and we could see more effort being put into dishes. Fish & chips was yummy and the homemade fruit crumble, apple & rhubarb this time, was great and a unique take.

Stopped in the campervan on the bank holiday weekend. The pub is clean and very dog friendly. They also have a dedicated dog walking compound which is awesome. Two toilets for the camping field but they ran out of toilet roll a couple of times despite only 50% of pitches being used. Food looks nice but a little pricey. Unfortunately the food had finished on the Sunday as the times were not consistent with the website. The staff were really friendly and everything was really clean. BTW it is a tight entrance for larger Motorhomes but long wheelbase Campers are fine. One Motorhome had to reverse in and out of site. I would stay again.

Just got back from a few days away in their Shepherds Hut. What a great experience. So nice to be there. Perfect quiet little village. Scenery is amazing. The pub is clean, friendly and the staff couldn't of been anymore helpful. Breakfast was the best I've had, and the evening meal was top notch too. Compliments ro the chef.
Please go and spend some time here and support a small British village pub.

I had booked an overnight stay at the Masons Arms but when I arrived there was a sign saying Temporarily closed due to unforeseen circumstances. No contact before or after which is disappointing. It’s not the most convenient of locations as it’s at least 3 miles out of the centre but luckily, one of the other guests had arrived around the same time and gave me a lift back into the centre where I could find other accommodation. Not sure how long I would have been waiting for another taxi back otherwise.

We camped here and it was very quiet so we got to pick our pitch. Bathrooms were very clean and showers were hot and clean. The bar staff were very friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was asked for as an additional extra and they were very happy to oblige. We enjoyed some local beers in the bar and then had a great night's sleep in the peaceful campsite. We will be back next year. Thank you!

Dropped into this pub for the first time this afternoon for a drink. Having looked at the menu we thought the food sounded great. We asked the barman whether we needed to book a table for later. He checked the computer and said no as they only had one booking. We went back later that evening only to be told that several things were off the menu due to supplier issues and then when we went to order the bartender told us that he was shutting the kitchen because they had run out of food. We were quite disappointed as they could have told us about the ‘supplier issues’ earlier when we asked about booking and we wouldn’t have gone.

Visited today for breakfast as friends were stopping at the pub. We had previously arranged for a 0930am arrival but when we arrived our friends had already been seated but the table had not been laid up for us. No breakfast menu was provided and we had to ask if cereal was available and our friends ordered cornflakes and we all asked for full English breakfast. After some wait the cooked breakfast arrived but the cornflakes were completely forgotten. The cooked breakfast was mostly over cooked and the eggs obviously were not fresh as the white was bubbled and the yolks set, not nice and only just about edible. The toast provided was thin but only supplied with butter we had to ask for preserves, which turned out to be in sachets and a brand none of us were familar with. I am sorry to say that since Hall and Woodhouse brewery purchased this property it has gone further and further downhill both with the excessive price of the rooms, the tye to their ales and the general demeanour of both pub and grounds. The pub is once again up for rent full details are published on the brewery website and I wish good luck to anyone willing to take challenge to pull this pub back up to standard. Unfortunately our friends who had stayed here several times when visiting us will not be returning again!! This used to be the go to village pub now it is best avoided!!

Yelp
Judi and I made a late decision to have a few days away last (May) bank holiday. Most places were booked up so I didn't expect the one that had a vacancy to be up to much. How wrong can one be?
The Mason's Arms has only 6 rooms but they are furbished beautifully - possibly the best rooms outside London!
The bar is cosy, the staff friendly and the food is absolutely superb!
This is a place we will visit again and I cannot recommend it strongly enough.

Yelp
We go here time and time again usually for a family birthday or celebration. It is always busy and it really is advisable to book. There is an extensive menu and all cooked freshly on site. There is a selection of everything from baguettes to steaks. My husband nearly always has corned beef hash with fried eggs on top. The menu changes regularly but always has a few of the basics on a blackboard.
They are dog friendly which does not excite me at all but visiting dogs seem well behaved.
They brew their own beer which my husband enjoys.
It does have some bedrooms so you could book to stay overnight.
Sometimes they have quiz nights.
We have never had a bad meal there

Yelp
Very good campsite but it seemed that it was a bit crowded or maybe over booked for a small field.
The bar & restaurant were good but the desert menu and special menu could have more items on them. The "rustic chips" felt a little undercooked but the meal was all round good.
The staff were very kind and help to find things around the area.
All round good pub and campsite
