The Mayo Hotel

The Mayo Hotel is a stunning historic gem and a true Tulsa landmark. You can feel the history the moment you walk in—this hotel has hosted icons like Elvis Presley, Marilyn Monroe, and JFK, and was once a gathering place for Tulsa’s oil barons during the city’s boom years. The craftsmanship and restoration are beautifully done, honoring its past while feeling elegant and comfortable. A must-do during your stay is stopping by the café. It has great little snacks, and we loved taking them back to our room to enjoy while watching a movie—simple, cozy, and perfect after a day out. Bill, at the cafe, truly made our stay exceptional. He shared fascinating stories about the hotel’s history, including how it was saved from demolition and lovingly restored. He also gave fantastic local recommendations, like Taste of Poland—a fabulous little café with excellent food—and highlighted must-see spots such as The Gathering Place. If you appreciate history, character, and outstanding hospitality, the Mayo Hotel is an absolute must-stay.

A beautiful, stylish hotel with a lot of history, The Mayo clearly provides a wonderful venue for an event. Our"Luxury Room" over night on the evening of January 1st, seemed more compact than expected, but was nicely appointed. The restaurant closure for the holiday disappointed my wife and I. Almost ZERO communication and information from the staff seemed completely at odds with The Mayo's reputation. I expect a printed receipt when I pay for something. I expected more than a simple statement that their restaurant and coffee shop were closed. A recommendation for a nearby restaurant would have been appropriate. Our 7th floor room backed onto a noisy alley. Valet parking at $30 for overnight exceed our expectations for service. The Mayo we experienced earned their mixed review from us. We will not return.

This is a repeat stay for us, my husband and I were in Tulsa to visit our son. We would never ever stay at any other hotel while we are here. This visit merely reinforced that feeling. We checked in on the evening of Thursday October 16 and were greeted by the friendliest front desk clerks who warmly welcomed us and got us promptly checked in. We stayed in a lovely Suite (316) that we will be sure to request on our next visit. The room was immaculate, the bedding exceptional and the room layout with sofa, small dining table and chairs, mini-kitchen were all wonderful. |The housekeeping staff is lovely and efficient and we enjoyed the coffee/snack shop with a bar and a Starbucks inside. |Special shout out to staff person Mr. W. Scott who chatted with us while we waited for our son to pick us up. He clearly loves the hotel and Tulsa. He gave us some history and some great suggestions for sight seeing. What a great asset he is for our of towners! |The hotel had FOUR weddings, a HS reunion and a rehearsal dinner while we were there. One would never know because the service never wavered one bit!|I love the workout room, it’s generally empty with lots of options such a steppers, weights and treadmills. Great hotel, obviously we highly recommend!

Worst experience I’ve ever had trying to check into a room. Upon arrival at the pretty late check in time of 4pm, we were told our room wasn’t ready. We were given no reason and no time frame, but were told we could wait in their cafe and they would come get us when it was ready. After 30 mins, my wife went to check, still not ready. It was then that I realized the lobby and cafe were now nearly completely full of people waiting for their rooms to be ready. 30 more minutes pass, still not ready and no time frame given. 30 more minutes and we decided to book a different hotel and cancel our room or we were going to miss the dinner reservations that we drove two hours for. We were told by the gal at the front desk that we simply couldn’t cancel our reservation, with no reasoning given. We dropped off our car with the valet when we arrived and when we dialed it up to leave, we were told it would arrive in 5 minutes. After waiting for 20 minutes in the freezing cold, I asked about the car only to find out they had never even sent anyone to get it. Absolutely shameful service here.

This hotel is perfectly located for walking to events at BOK center and downtown events. It's is beautiful inside lobby and old school type bar. The rooms look really nice with big bathroom and shower. The beds are very creaky and not super comfortable. Also didn't like the construction starting at 7:30am outside our window. Wine bottle openers and good coffee in room. Fridge and microwave. Not enough outlet options for multiple people.

This place is wonderful. Yvonne at the front desk was extremely helpful in all my questions and needs regarding my stay. I felt extremely welcomed and will be returning here again.

Historic hotel and beautiful foyer! Grand staircase perfect for photos! Learning the history of the hotel was really interesting. The rooms were very spacious. There is no parking so either have to pay to valet or pay to park and walk. Hotel staff very nice. There’s a cute cafe downstairs as well. No pool.

How many nice things can we say about the staff. Welcoming & friendly. Anxious to please; especially Ms. Evonne - definitely choose The Mayo, next time we visit. Thanks for making our Christmas getaway delightful!
