Looking to get out of the heat and have a nice brunch, we headed down to Newport Beach to the Mayor's Table after making sure they were dog friendly. The Mayor's Table is located in the Lido Hotel at 3300 Newport Beach Boulevard. It's the former site of Newport Beach City Hall, thus the name, and they have $14 valet parking if you validate at the restaurant. It had been a few years since we ate here and this would be Hanks first time testing their patio and bacon, both of which met his approval.
We were excited to see they had a spectacular brunch menu (https://lidohousehotel.com/assets/design/uploads/general/MT_Brunch_071124.pdf).
I ordered the Awaken Yogurt Parfait, two eggs over easy. And James' Waffle. Hank had bacon, and Robin tried their Lido Gem Salad and Crab Cake Benny. We also tried the Caviar Fries from the "Wow" section of the menu.
The food and service were amazing. The food was well seasoned, fresh, great herbs, and nicely presented. The service was friendly, attentive, and the time between the starters and our meals was perfect.
The Awaken Yogurt Parfait included rose yogurt, strawberry & rhubarb compote, citrus granola. Beautiful presentation and with the compote mixed in it was delicious. The Lido Gem Salad consisted of torn little gem lettuce, heritage bacon, radish, lido ranch, fine herbs. Robin thought it was fresh and loved the use of herbs on the tomatoes.
My eggs were perfectly cooked, and the James' Waffle were a fun surprise. Composed of taiyaki pastry (a Japanese fish shaped cake), and three fillings: ceme brulee, electric blue matcha custard, and tonka cream, it was fun and tasty. Hank scarfed down his Falls Hardwood Smoked Bacon. Robin's Crab Cake Benny made up of dungeness crab, remoulade sauce, torn potatoes was on a fluffy sourdough muffin. The sauce was amazing and the crab and avocado tasted fresh.
We shared the Caviar Fries that included petrossian caviar, herbed crème fraîche, and the chef's famous fries. The combination of flavors were terrific.
Truly a memorable brunch that I would highly recommend. Looking at there breakfast, lunch, and dinner menus made us want to book a night at the Lido House in order to give the all a try.
