The Mayson Dublin | Best places to stay in Dublin

"Set in a former warehouse in the heart of the Dublin Docklands, The Mayson has the best of both worlds – a building filled with charm and character, and a location right on the banks of the River Liffey. The best rooms make the most of those waterside views, with full-length windows flooding the space with light. Even better are the suites, with giant copper bathtubs that stand right in the window, so you can soak as you people-watch. Throughout the hotel, there’s a buzzy, arty vibe, with plenty of the tech crowd from over the river working over coffee or ending the day with a beer on the rooftop bar. This is one of the few city hotels with a pool, too – it may be teeny, but its position overlooking the inner, plant-filled courtyard gives it a cool Moroccan vibe. " - Nicola Brady

Modern hotel with its own quirks. Room was on the small side, but nothing egregious. Would have liked a hair dryer in the room like some other reviews mentioned. Staff were helpful and pleasant, including helping me with some breakfast particularly early. Stayed here as it was easy on/off from the M50 for a night before flying out and I could avoid the hotels near the airport. Found street parking which was free until 7am.

Beautifully decorated boutique hotel with easy access to 3Arena and a short walk/bus trip to the centre. ||The room we stayed had a comfortable bed and was well stocked with toiletries, towels and a hairdryer of the best quality. ||Room could have been improved with some clothes storage and a dressing table but for|One night it was ok. ||Breakfast was an additional cost but well worth it as it was very tasty and the staff were really friendly and attentive. ||The stay went extremely smoothly and the staff were all absolutely amazing. Would recommend a stay but it is expensive for what you get.

Location great for work. Public areas-bar, breakfast food etc lovely. Bedrooms, clean and tidy but unbelievably small- shoe boxes. You had to stand on the bed to pull the curtains and had nowhere to put you bag or leave it flat and accessible. Shower was decent but, like the bedroom, there was no space in the bathroom at all. That and with construction next door you can't even open the curtains unless you want the builders looking in at you as was the case daily. They were waving at one stage..but thankful for the 7am wake up call each morning with the drilling and noise..

Booked this hotel for two nights for a city break to Dublin, seemed pricier than alternatives but looked like it was worth the money. Unfortunately this was not the case. The only positive I can give is that the staff at the check in desk were always friendly and helpful, unfortunately this was marred by several issues.||On arrival to the room, after a busy day of traveling and walking around the city I noticed there was no TV remote in the room. Immediately went downstairs to notify reception as when I tried to ring using the in room telephone, nobody would pick up. When I reported the issue, I was told that this ‘happens sometimes’ and that someone would be up shortly to bring a new one. Why, if this is a known issue, are housekeepers not checking this when preparing a room? If this hasn’t been checked, what else has been skipped? This leads me to the next issue.||Upon closer inspection of the curtains in the room, I noticed a very dark looking stain on the curtains- unsure of what this was from but wasn’t very happy with this. Then, when we moved the bin in the bathroom there was what looked vomit residue behind the bin all over the bathroom floor. This was absolutely unacceptable- clearly housekeepers do not clean behind the bins in the bathroom. I have attached pictures to this review for reference.||Additionally, despite the lack of TV remote in the room the housekeeper had not forgotten to stock the extremely predatory minibar in the room. This is a shelf directly under the television which to me is completely wrong- as other reviews have mentioned, check your bill as this system is entirely open to abuse and clearly the hotel has a history of not getting this right. It is not immediately obvious whether these are complementary or chargeable- this should be information given at check-in. ||Please save your money and spend it elsewhere at a hotel with clean rooms and transparent fees.

We held our daughter's wedding reception at The Mayson and it was perfect! We had the drinks reception in The Bottle Boy and the dinner & dancing in The Timberyard. The atmosphere in both spaces far surpassed our expectations. The food was so good and the staff were top notch. They were so helpful and responsive and helped make their night even more special. Thank you to Jenny and the incredible staff!

We chose the Mayson Hotel as the venue for our city wedding in June. The hotel is beautifully fitted out with great views of the city. Every member of staff we encountered was friendly and helpful and we felt so welcome during our time there. In terms of wedding planners, we couldn't ask for better as both Jenny and Hana went above and beyond to make sure we had a wonderful day. The food and wine was amazing and plentiful, our guests commented that it was the best fed wedding they had attended. I would 100% recommend The Mayson Hotel for a city wedding or a break.

I did not stay here, only dined there at Ryleighs rooftop restaurant. I don't know why they call it rooftop, because we couldn't see that we were on the rooftop, and we did have a ceiling over us in the restaurant. That being said, dining here was a highlight of our stay in Dublin. We wanted to eat at a waterfront restaurant, and Ryleighs more than filled the bill! Service was excellent, and the food was not only delicious--it was visually arranged on the plate like a picture in a food magazine! Would definitely recommend it! But be prepared to spend money on it! It was definitely a TREAT for ourselves, and WELL WORTH IT!

Booked the basement bar for an 80th birthday celebration and I have to give credit where it is due, Matthew and the Team went over and above to make it a fantastic night. The room itself is modern, tastefully decorated and very well equipped with a great AV and sound system. The staff were amazing all night and anything we asked for, they delivered. The food was the best food I have ever had at any event anywhere. We will definitely be booking the space again for our next event and could not recommend it highly enough.

Yelp
I dined at Ryleigh's Steakhouse located in the Mayson hotel in Dublin, Ireland, and hands down, it was probably the best steak I have ever had in my life. It was my first time trying a tomahawk steak, and it was absolutely incredible. Cooked to perfection and packed with flavor. The service was also excellent. Our server was incredibly sweet and attentive, which made the experience even better. The view was not the greatest since there is a huge skyscraper under construction right next to the restaurant. However, if you are seated in another section, the ambiance is really nice. I also ordered the buttered greens, not knowing exactly what to expect. They turned out to be a mix of snap peas, green beans, and broccoli sautéed with butter, salt, and pepper. Simple and absolutely perfect. The fries were also a hit. Perfectly crispy and seasoned just right. Overall, if you are in Dublin, you have to try this place. It was without a doubt the best meal I have had in Dublin, and I have been there quite a few times.

Yelp
Dined at Ryleigh's Steakhouse rooftop restaurant at the Mayson hotel. The food was spectacular all around and the service was friendly. The menu had well labeled allergens. The honeycomb ice cream sundae was a bit too sweet with the caramel sauce and there wasn't as much of view from the restaurant as the terrace bar had more direct views of the river.

Yelp
This review for Ryleigh's. While I'm sure the hotel is just fine, we didn't stay there, just ate at the rooftop restaurant. Delicious. The service was great and the food was impressive. Started with the bread; which I highly recommend though we had to order it separately. The wife ordered the chicken supreme and was quite pleased. Wonderfully prepared, served on a bed of mashed potatoes with mushrooms. I had the filet which was delicious and I added the creamy spinach as a side which was excellent. Not too overpowering with the creamy aspect, could really get the flavor of the spinach. Daughter for the sirloin with fired mushroom (a must!) with a side of the mashed potatoes and was quite pleased. For drinks we had the Remedy and the wife and daughter each for amaretto sours while I had some Buffalo Trace on the rocks. The view is great but be sure to get a spot in the section that had a clear view. The side view is now obscured by new construction. Highly recommend this place. Desserts were gre

Yelp
WONDERFUL stay at The Mayson on our visit in Dublin. Staff is exceptionally friendly, rooms were clean and comfortable. The Dyson hairdryer was a fantastic amenity. Would HIGHLY recommend.

Yelp
Restaurant is nice and food is good. Limited menu selection. The rooms are way to small. Barely room to walk around the bed. No place to put your luggage? No hooks in the bathroom for towels or clothes. The bathroom door is a sliding pocket door and we could barely get it to slide. Judging from sound coming from the room next door, they were having the same problem. Go to eat but don't stay the night. You would be better off going to the Hilton down the street.

Yelp
I had a very nice stay at the Mayson. The view of the river is pretty! The bed is very comfy. There are 2 restaurants and a pub inside to choose from. I tried both Elephant and Castle & Ryleighs, and can genuinely say both had good food and drinks and the employees made great suggestions: It is a bit far from city center, so bring comfy shoes if you plan to walk. The rooms were nice. Check in was easy. However, a few things: they were not forthcoming with a deposit for the mini bar (not that I care, just would have liked a heads up). They offer a room with breakfast, but unfortunately I was unable to grab breakfast any of the days I was here because it didn't start til after I had left each day - it would have been nice to see the time on their website upon purchase. I had selected early check in when booking I confirmed this on my initial reservation email. A couple weeks before my trip, I got an email telling me to upgrade my stay with early check in. I emailed the hotel who said I did not have that and they set it up. However I got another upgrade email a couple days before and it was not checked - I checked it myself and when I got there I was able to check in early, so not really an inconvenience, just weird. I would also note, growing up in a big city, I didn't think the outside sounds were bad, especially considering it's away from the hustle of the city center, however you can hear some outside noises or the people upstairs.
