The Mayson Dublin | Best places to stay in Dublin

"Set in a former warehouse in the heart of the Dublin Docklands, The Mayson has the best of both worlds – a building filled with charm and character, and a location right on the banks of the River Liffey. The best rooms make the most of those waterside views, with full-length windows flooding the space with light. Even better are the suites, with giant copper bathtubs that stand right in the window, so you can soak as you people-watch. Throughout the hotel, there’s a buzzy, arty vibe, with plenty of the tech crowd from over the river working over coffee or ending the day with a beer on the rooftop bar. This is one of the few city hotels with a pool, too – it may be teeny, but its position overlooking the inner, plant-filled courtyard gives it a cool Moroccan vibe. " - Nicola Brady

This had been our first stay at the Mayson hotel. Both my wife and I were extremely impressed by the friendly welcome and excellent service offered by Amber and Benny. I struggle sleeping under heavy synthetic quilts. I asked Amber if it would be possible to provide something lighter and possible natural fibres, even if just another quilt cover. She kindly offered to talk to Benny her manager to see if this could be done. After returning from our day out in Dublin, a NEW throw had been provided to our room (still in shop wrapper)!! Amber told me that he had spent most of the afternoon trying to find a natural fibre blanket and eventually found the one provided to us. My slight embarrassment enquired why such effort; Amber replied Benny could not allow to provide something that was below standards and hence found the alternative. The design, decor and layout of the hotel is superb which we could not fault. The rooms although on the very small side, which is stated in the marketing info, is more than adequate when visiting Dublin. Both my wife and I would not hesitate in recommending this hotel. A big thank you to Amber, Benny and all the staff that made for a special visit to Dublin. John and Alison Room 411

The perfect vibe for a special getaway! We picked The Mayson for our 23rd wedding anniversary and honestly, it’s been spot on so far. From the moment we walked through the door, the atmosphere just clicked—stylish, relaxed, and buzzing with energy. The decor is modern with a cool edge, but still warm and welcoming. It feels like a place that really knows who it is. Huge shout-out to the lady on reception who welcomed us—she was incredibly friendly, helpful and just set the tone for the whole experience. It’s not always the case in hotels, but here, we genuinely felt looked after from the very first interaction. Breakfast was tremendous. I had The Works, my wife had the Eggs Benedict—both absolutely hit the spot. Full bellies, satisfied appetites and that “mmm” moment after every bite. The coffee was on point too, and the breakfast venue itself was cozy, calm and just a really cool place to start the day. We haven’t even seen our room yet, but if it matches the vibe and quality we’ve experienced already, we’re in for a treat. We’ve only got two nights here and loads planned, but The Mayson already feels like the perfect base for our Dublin adventure. Highlights so far: the amazing receptionist, the breakfast, the vibe, and the location. Looking forward to discovering more!

Terrible stay, we had one night away myself and my husband without our baby, we were really looking forward to relaxing the two of us. We booked our stay through Expedia we paid 234€ for the room and was then told on arrival we needed to pay €50 hold fee which we were unaware off, but that was fine. The room was nice but my god the noise from the room was absolutely ridiculous!!! We stayed in room 101 which was over the bar, and the noise was just constant! On Expedia it mentions the rooms were sound proofed which is absolute rubbish, we could hear doors banging in the hall way every 5 minutes, and guests talking in the room next to us talk all night, I complained to a member of staff on check out, and to put it nicely she couldn’t of given a rats arse!! Absolutely nothing was said!! Not only was there noise from the bar etc but we mentioned to her politely that they could do with a plumber because to add to everything else the pump on the toilet ran allllll night!!! On check out we told the lady on reception we had taken two bottles of beer from the mini bar which came to a total on €12 and agreed she could take payment out of the holding fee of €50 which we are still waiting of the remaining to be refunded to us, around 8pm yesterday after checking out at 11.00am an additional payment of 48€ was taken from my card, I rang the hotel to enquire and she told me that they charged myself and my husband for a bottle of white wine that was taken from the mini bar (which by the way I don’t even drink wine) and that packets of tayto crips and peanuts were taken, again not by us!!! I was back and forth on the phone four about 20 minutes with the lady before she said she’d refund me!! Honestly overall I’m absolutely raging we spent the money there for a night away to leave on check out Absolutely exhausted from no sleep whatsoever!!! And then to be treated like the from staff members on top of it all! Don’t waste your money, plenty of locations around Dublin for better value!! And better services!!!

We were looking forward to our stay in Dublin and had booked the Mayson due to its close proximity to Bord Gais Theatre where we were seeing a show. We checked in at 2pm and our room was already available which was great. We also used the Quayside Quarter car parking offered by the hotel at €25 which was really convenient. The room itself - a Warehouse ‘Super’ Room - was very small with no storage (no wardrobe or drawers - only a few hangers on hooks on the wall). We were only staying for one night but still had to keep most of our clothing in our overnight bag. The room was dated and not very clean - the chairs on the balcony were absolutely filthy! There was a full length mirror but apart from the bathroom, there was no other mirror in the room. The full length mirror wasn’t well placed and lighting was poor so it was difficult to dry hair and apply make-up and you had to stand up to get ready. The Dyson hairdryer was a nice touch. The shower was great, very powerful and hot, but the bathroom was tiny with very limited space to dry off or get dressed. After leaving our bags in the room, we went into the Bottle Boy bar for a drink but they had limited selection of gin (no Gordon’s, Tanquary or Bombay Sapphire), the bar wasn’t very clean and the barrel style tables were really sticky, so after one drink, we left the hotel and went elsewhere. The bed and pillows were comfy and we slept well. We had prepaid for breakfast in Ryleighs, but were disappointed with the selection and quality of the food offered. Overall, our stay was disappointing and I don’t think we would return.

Not worth the money!!! We stayed here as it was convenient for our destination, however — a two person room is not even sizeable enough to fit one. TINY!! And zero access to one side of the bed / no locker / no charger. So they expect you to crawl over the other person to access the minimal floor space?.. they also fail to advertise these rooms on their social media’s!! - No water in the rooms? - Try to sell you tacky overpriced sweets and drinks (tourist trap), scattered all over the room, not classy or welcoming - No wardrobe? - No robes / footwear for spa - No desk - Room service don’t bother answering the phone not sure the point of it - NOISY! Both externally and internally. The window in the room wasn’t entirely insulated. It’s a modern hotel with a nice atmosphere and retro touch, but don’t let it fool you. For the extortion they charge per room it is absolutely not worth it. We have been fortunate enough to have stayed in many 4-5 star hotels and this one is extremely below par.

This was our third time staying at The Mayson as it’s the perfect location for attending gigs in the 3arena with it only being a 2 minute walk away. We were greeted by Benni who, as always, has a very warm welcome, having even recognised us from a previous stay which was a lovely surprise. Such a lovely person to be greeted by. He was incredibly accommodating and went above and beyond for us this stay which was really appreciated. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

This was our first time staying at The Mayson as we were attending a show at the 3 arena. The hotel is perfect within a 10 minute walk from it. The rooms were very clean and had a spacious bathroom with minibar and window which overlooked the river outside. The bar downstairs served a lovely range of food and the breakfast in the morning was also very nice and had plenty to choose from on the breakfast menu. I would definitely stay here again in the future.

I enjoyed the modern, rustic vibes of the hotel and especially enjoying using the pool and sauna facilities. However I did feel quite duped by my booking via booking.com as the photos they use are actually of the suites, so the room you get is much smaller! I was pleasantly surprised though, that even though the room was extremely cosy, it was just that, a very comfortable bed. A great shower and they maximise spice by lifting the height of the bed for suitcases to go underneath. If you have a hire car this also increases the cost as there is no parking in the hotel and breakfast wasn't included so it does become quite expensive. Really loved that they had multiple bars on site as we were quite tired we ended up doing a bar crawl on site!

Yelp
I dined at Ryleigh's Steakhouse located in the Mayson hotel in Dublin, Ireland, and hands down, it was probably the best steak I have ever had in my life. It was my first time trying a tomahawk steak, and it was absolutely incredible. Cooked to perfection and packed with flavor. The service was also excellent. Our server was incredibly sweet and attentive, which made the experience even better. The view was not the greatest since there is a huge skyscraper under construction right next to the restaurant. However, if you are seated in another section, the ambiance is really nice. I also ordered the buttered greens, not knowing exactly what to expect. They turned out to be a mix of snap peas, green beans, and broccoli sautéed with butter, salt, and pepper. Simple and absolutely perfect. The fries were also a hit. Perfectly crispy and seasoned just right. Overall, if you are in Dublin, you have to try this place. It was without a doubt the best meal I have had in Dublin, and I have been there quite a few times.

Yelp
This review for Ryleigh's. While I'm sure the hotel is just fine, we didn't stay there, just ate at the rooftop restaurant. Delicious. The service was great and the food was impressive. Started with the bread; which I highly recommend though we had to order it separately. The wife ordered the chicken supreme and was quite pleased. Wonderfully prepared, served on a bed of mashed potatoes with mushrooms. I had the filet which was delicious and I added the creamy spinach as a side which was excellent. Not too overpowering with the creamy aspect, could really get the flavor of the spinach. Daughter for the sirloin with fired mushroom (a must!) with a side of the mashed potatoes and was quite pleased. For drinks we had the Remedy and the wife and daughter each for amaretto sours while I had some Buffalo Trace on the rocks. The view is great but be sure to get a spot in the section that had a clear view. The side view is now obscured by new construction. Highly recommend this place. Desserts were gre

Yelp
Dined at Ryleigh's Steakhouse rooftop restaurant at the Mayson hotel. The food was spectacular all around and the service was friendly. The menu had well labeled allergens. The honeycomb ice cream sundae was a bit too sweet with the caramel sauce and there wasn't as much of view from the restaurant as the terrace bar had more direct views of the river.

Yelp
WONDERFUL stay at The Mayson on our visit in Dublin. Staff is exceptionally friendly, rooms were clean and comfortable. The Dyson hairdryer was a fantastic amenity. Would HIGHLY recommend.

Yelp
Restaurant is nice and food is good. Limited menu selection. The rooms are way to small. Barely room to walk around the bed. No place to put your luggage? No hooks in the bathroom for towels or clothes. The bathroom door is a sliding pocket door and we could barely get it to slide. Judging from sound coming from the room next door, they were having the same problem. Go to eat but don't stay the night. You would be better off going to the Hilton down the street.

Yelp
I had a very nice stay at the Mayson. The view of the river is pretty! The bed is very comfy. There are 2 restaurants and a pub inside to choose from. I tried both Elephant and Castle & Ryleighs, and can genuinely say both had good food and drinks and the employees made great suggestions: It is a bit far from city center, so bring comfy shoes if you plan to walk. The rooms were nice. Check in was easy. However, a few things: they were not forthcoming with a deposit for the mini bar (not that I care, just would have liked a heads up). They offer a room with breakfast, but unfortunately I was unable to grab breakfast any of the days I was here because it didn't start til after I had left each day - it would have been nice to see the time on their website upon purchase. I had selected early check in when booking I confirmed this on my initial reservation email. A couple weeks before my trip, I got an email telling me to upgrade my stay with early check in. I emailed the hotel who said I did not have that and they set it up. However I got another upgrade email a couple days before and it was not checked - I checked it myself and when I got there I was able to check in early, so not really an inconvenience, just weird. I would also note, growing up in a big city, I didn't think the outside sounds were bad, especially considering it's away from the hustle of the city center, however you can hear some outside noises or the people upstairs.
