"In Montclair, we’re 12 miles from the city; I know there are people who will stay at the inn and travel back and forth because there are some who don’t love to stay in the city. We have a university, an art museum, we have the Wellmont Theater, which is a concert venue. Up until now, the closest hotel was a Courtyard by Marriott in West Orange [about a 15-minute drive away]."

The location is fantastic, as I’ve stayed here before. We decided to visit the rooftop bar to enjoy drinks and a snack since the front desk informed us it was open until 1 am. However, it was 11 pm on Valentine’s Day, and we were seated by a hostess without a menu or a server in sight. We inquired about available tables, and my husband noticed six unoccupied tables nearby. After 10 minutes, we asked if they were short on servers, and the hostess confirmed that they were. Surprisingly, they proceeded to bus a table and seat us. Despite being seated for 10 minutes, every server who passed by failed to greet us. I would recommend staying at the hotel but visiting another location for drinks and food. The service here has been consistently terrible, even though we are Bonvoy members and have been loyal for a while. This is a significant disappointment, especially considering the exceptional service we’ve received in the past.

I frequent the MC hotel in Montclair and it is my top choice for the area. It is in a great location most everything walkable. They have a wonderful rooftop that can be tons of fun as well as a great venue for events. My best friends got married on the rooftop and I have had some fun nights with my mates there after events as well. The hotel has a convenient U shaped covered drop off and pick up for checking in and/or calling a car ride. The front desk is usually very friendly. The rooms are comfortable and I usually have breakfast in the downstairs restaurant. I recommend the Taylor ham breakfast sandwich. The restaurant service can be slow, so allow some time. I enjoy my stays at the hotel and will continue to come back.

This is a very nice boutique hotel. My room was circular, above the front as seen in the picture. The bed and bathroom were very spacious and comfortable. There's a few restaurants and Whole Foods within the next couple blocks. Definitely worth visiting. The hotel restaurant was quick to serve breakfast. The only downfall is the rooftop bar/restaurant weren't open during my stay. You can see the skyline of Manhattan from there. Parking is on street or in a garage down the street that has seen better days. I opted to park on side street for 2nd night.

I have stayed here many times and it is a beautiful property. I really enjoy the rooms and amenities available. They have great spaces for any type of event. The roof top bar is a fun spot and the food at the restaurant is very good. The service is always friendly and accommodating too.

This is my second stay at the MC Montclair. The front desk staff are wonderful, but the rest stops there. Food service consistently disappoints. There was a buffet of stale eggs and scraped out french toast casserole on Thanksgiving morning. Service is always hard to come by in the restaurant. There were no serving utensils for the fruit and the hand sanitizer was empty. My Bonvoy Platinum breakfast voucher didn't even cover it. ||The rooms are nice enough, but kind of rough around the edges. The wall mounted lamp in our room didn't work and was partially falling off the wall. There was a sticky substance on the desk. The closet floor was incredibly dusty, so much that a sweater fell and was completely covered in dust. ||The gym was adequate/small. There were no towels and the equipment wipes had run out. There is a Peloton but the water bottle holders had broken off. When stretching, I noticed that under the equipment was all covered in dust - like an obscene amount of dust.||Rooms didn't have cork screws, and the front desk didn't have any. I had to borrow one from a waiter and promptly bring it back downstairs.||This all adds up to a very meh stay that I didn't feel was a very good value for what you get.

This is an elegant, sleek, modern and luxurious hotel, which I expected nothing less of as part of the Marriott Autograph Collection. We had both a King Suite and a King Superior, both of which were spacious, comfortable and well-designed. The lobby cafe and market were cozy and enjoyable, but the highlight of the hotel is their rooftop bar/restaurant with gorgeous views and unbeatable vibes. Would stay here again and recommend to friends!

This hotel stay was not pleasant. I got in late because of flight delays, to find that no one was at the front desk to let me in the front door. I used my phone to open the front door and waited at the desk for 5 minutes…at which point I gave up and went to my room. My room was very cold. Turns out the heater just didn’t work. Called down to the front desk and they told me to wait 15 minutes for it to turn on. It never did, but was way too late to change rooms. Needless to say, I went to bed and froze all night. Got up to leave in the morning and, one of our team members had ordered breakfast. After 30 minutes, no breakfast or even an update from the staff. I had to pay $6.50 for a coffee, which was just the normal coffee on a typical carafe that most hotels just leave out for free. Bad service, terrible room. Just a waste of money. This is one of the few occasions that I’ll say the service and people working there were not good at their jobs. Normally, it’s just old buildings or bad management. Not in this case. Every interaction I had there was poor. Checked out early and moved to another hotel. Won’t be coming back, even though I visit the area once a month. As a side note, I have Marriott ambassador status and got this type of treatment. I certainly wouldn’t even consider this place if you don’t have elite status. Not recommended for business or personal travel.

I had a very disappointing experience at the MC Hotel Autograph Collection upon arrival. After a late flight, I followed the provided instructions to enter the hotel. I rang the bell multiple times, but no one came to let me in. I resorted to banging on the front door, hoping someone would hear me, but still, no response. I called the hotel several times without an answer. I even tried using the chat feature, which also went unanswered. Eventually, I contacted the Ambassador line, but even they struggled to get in touch with anyone at the hotel. After 15 frustrating minutes of being stranded outside, someone finally came to the door—but their lack of urgency or concern made the situation even worse. They showed no care that I had been waiting outside so long, which I found completely unprofessional. This was a very unpleasant way to begin my stay. I expected much better from a property in the Autograph Collection.

Yelp
Cute place. Very quiet the time I went. Not sure how it is during evenings. They had a bar in the lobby with good food. I got the tuna taco and it was pretty good, fish was fresh. The truffle fries were yummy. I came for the drinks and decided to eat which is convenient.. They have valet, but not sure if it was for hotel guest or for any guest in that building. It's Montclair, so street parking had to do.

Gerard S.

Yelp
Nice, looking place, beautiful rooftop bar. However, the service, was way below standard. Staff didn't carry bags, valet parking was disorganized. . Slow and sloppy bar service. But it is a beautiful building and a clear view of a magnificent New York skyline.. Premium pricing with subpar servicing makes for an unpleasant experience. . Would had wished employees had better training.

Dwinel B.

Yelp
Nice place to stay. Room was clean and the hotel had beautiful decor. My only issue I had was the wait time at the bar downstairs. I waited 20 mins for my first drink. Then, I waited an additional 20 mins for a second drink. The bartender was very kind and apologetic but I just didn't see why it should have taken so long. I watched many people walk to the bar to get drinks to avoid the wait and return to their tables. Nevertheless, I had a nice stay. I just think they might need a little more support at bar.

Yelp
I had a wonderful experience from start to finish with the MC Autograph hotel. Before I even got into NJ I received an email from the GM to see if I needed any special business arrangements while I stayed with them just before the Christmas holiday. I was coming into town for a concert so I was all set. This hotel is located on Bloomfield and it's the main strip of this area. I was able to walk to tons of shopping and dining options. The best part was the hotel's proximity to The Wellmont theater where I was seeing a band play. I tried the coffee in Allegory their cafe in site. Really yummy flavored oat latte kept me warmed up. They offer a variety of drinks and snacks for purchase in the lobby market area. There is also a rooftop Terrance that I unfortunately didn't have a chance to enjoy. If I'm ever in the neighborhood I will definitely be staying with them again. Thank you to Sauda for getting me checked in quickly and with an early check in. You really saved the day for me. See ya around!

Hughes C.

Yelp
I gotta drop it a couple stars. If I'm expected to stay here monthly for a week and the wifi from the room doesn't work, this is unacceptable. Last month I was here, I thought ok it might be my computer or some security settings preventing me from connecting to the wifi. Went back and had IT check it out...updated drivers, yada yada. This time around still unable to connect. Now I'm able to connect to MC Public wifi so I know it's not my computer... Last night I worked from the hallway and from my rooms bathroom as they were within the range of the public wifi. Of course, that isn't ideal, comfortable, or sustainable. Outrageous. And yes, I contacted the hotel customer service. They were unable to provide a solution.

Nicole G.

Yelp
Drinking on the rooftop catching a summer breeze made me hungry. To the lobby I go for a crispy chicken sandwich. Ordered my sandwich with fries. I take my fries very serious. I talked fries with the bartender and she totally assured me they were good. There wasn't a need for my extra instructions. Lol! She was so right!! Should have ordered two because my sandwich was just ok!! It looked good but it was over cooked. This made the chicken dry and in need of more coleslaw. Great customer service!

Yelp
If I could give this zero stars I would - I rarely speak ill of people/places but this was a completely horrible thing to do to people. I made a reservation back in August for the king corner room for our ANNIVERSARY. We arrived 11:30 am for check in, we were told the room was ready but housekeeping needed to approve the room. With that she tried three times to reach housekeeping by phone but was not successful. She then told us to check back in an hour, we went to lunch and returned later that afternoon, only to be told our room was not ready. Note, this was an entirely new front desk staff; this point it was 1:30 PM. Then we were told to come back at 3 PM - when we came back at 4 PM - we were informed that they gave our room away. They proceeded to offer a discount for a balcony (not facing the city as I originally booked). To further exacerbate the situation once we went to our room, we were unable to get into it. Maintenance had to let us in. Lastly when we decided the room was not acceptable- went to leave, checked the keys to get in upon exiting. They still did not work! My anniversary plans were shattered at this point.

Eric K.

Yelp
The worst hotel experience imaginable. When we arrived at 7:30p the hotel informed us that they had given our reserved room away. Rather than two queens we were given a king with a pullout bed. They did not give us a discount. The music from the 9th floor disco played until 1a. We could not sleep due to the loud music. The bar/restaurant area did not have enough people working. For example, at 9p on Friday night there was one bartender; at 10:30a on a Sunday morning there was one waitress. Service was incredibly slow. I would not recommend this property.

Myescha J.

Yelp
Lame ass MC hotel...so legalistic I witnessed them deny a wedding party access to a rooftop bc they had 10 mins left to close before 1am. Chile it's Montclair not them acting like they're a Manhattan establishment. Laughable at best, tragic at worst. Can't wait to see the fauborg enterprise expand across Montclair because they know quality customer service!

Yelp
I attended an business event held on the rooftop space . The views were amazing . The appetizers and dessert selections were good . The wine i have to say was excellent . Exiting the hotel , the lobby was very lively . Lots of people mingling at the bar and sitting areas . surprising for a early weekday . I will go back for a brunch , get a better feel of the place . Keep you posted .

Yelp
Stayed here for an entire week due to a work trip in the area. They were very kind to let me check in earlier than 3 o'clock because my flight was earlier than expected. The rooms are very mid century fashionable quite modern and aesthetic and happy to see some decent bath sheets as well. Frette to be exact. The rooftop is also incredible and does not require reservations at least i experienced that during the week. The parking garage situation is not as ideal because if you choose to park your car yourself you need to walk to the garage and it is not an easy in and out all day. Therefore you have to choose the valet option which does cost a little bit more. Location of this hotel is great lots of restaurants within a very very short walking distance. Hotel overall was very clean modern and I would definitely stay here again if I had to be in this particular area of town.

Yelp
STAY AWAY IF YOU LIKE TO SLEEP. This hotel is great if you want to stay up all night in a place where management does not care. The hotel is basically an adjunct to its main draw, a rooftop club. The rooftop club blasts music that vibrates throughout the hotel. When you contact management, they do nothing. On Friday and Saturday nights, the music blasts until 1 AM. I guess this is a good place to have a party, but if you actually need a good night's sleep or basic management, run elsewhere. Seriously, run elsewhere.

Tracey T.

Yelp
I went to an event this evening, which was very nice at the MC Hotel. The problem started when I went to retrieve my car from valet parking. I had called the hotel earlier in the day to inquire regarding valet parking I was told as long as you were going to one of their restaurants the valet parking was free. Needless to say, I was quite surprised when I went to retrieve my car and I was told it was $25. I also had a friend with me Who encountered the same problem. There seems to be a huge communication gap between the Hotel staff, and the people that are running the valet parking. Luckily, I was able to find someone in the hotel staff that assured me I would not have to pay the $25. In the meantime, the valet people bring me a car, but it's not mine!! If you're going to go to the MC Hotel I suggest you park in the street!

Bec R.

Yelp
Great hotel and really cool bar downstairs . Rooms are nice and clean , the bar is cool and I would stay there again .

Lola L.

Yelp
COMPLETELY EXCEPTIONAL! I came here with my husband for our anniversary just like the year prior. Our experience was amazing. They really took care of us, they truly went out of our way to make our stay special. I had a tiny little issue at first with our room but the manager Tiffany and the receptionist took care of it immediately. 2/18/22. Breakfast was great, the rooftop is beautiful. We will Come back again for sure.

Louis Z.

Yelp
WOW!! lLet me just start off by saying this might be the best kept secret in Montclair!! I came here around 6 pm on a Friday night , it was pretty busy but I was able to find myself a seat at the huge bar they have. I was instantly greeted by their extremely cheerful bartender Jennifer C. I can't remember the name of the drink I ordered, but it had CBD in it, and let's just say it took the edge off of a stressful day at work.. As I sipped my drink vibing to the chill music( they had a band setting up for tonight) I got a little hungry. Joey made an amazing recommendation to get the fried chicken sandwich. This sandwich was OUT OF THIS WORLD!!! Thanks Joey!!! I 100% plan on coming back every night that these two are working - I hope they get used to seeing my face!!

Yelp
we visit Montclair regularly (grandchildren!) and every time we do we are so impressed with the quality of the service that we experience at the front desk. on a last minute we begged for a room last weekend and were treated so well by the front desk and management. Ioana. The manager, and Brittany and Mimi at the front desk were so warm, gracious and helpful. Our room was lovely and very fairly priced. Breakfast service at the restaurant was excellent and again fairly priced. Even the valet car parking service (it is an extra charge) was excellent. If you are In Montclair, stay here!!

Afton W.

Yelp
My wife and I decided to take a spur of the moment trip into Montclair to celebrate with family. Our stay was unexceptional. The room was nice at first glance but the King size comforter had a noticeable hole in it and the mattress was lumpy and not at all comfortable. The bathroom counters also appeared to be stained with makeup. These seemed like minor inconveniences at the time for such short notice of a trip on our part, and yet... We decided to try to enjoy what the hotel had to offer and wanted to explore the rooftop restaurant/club. We had only been to it once before. This time was alright except for the fact that the "bouncer" let 3 other groups go in ahead of us. After telling us that it was max capacity and we couldn't get in without a reservation, fair. Of course we exercised our patience just for a manager to come (not from the rooftop but from around the corner) and let him know that there wasn't a wait and it wasn't crowded at all. Our issue with this was he didn't even make an attempt to check if it was actually busy or not! We just stood there, waiting. None of these things were so bad that I just HAD to leave a review...until our last day. We were packed and ready to enjoy our last few hours in the town when a emergency alarm went off throughout the entire hotel. My wife who has been dealing with a knee injury had to walk down 4 flights of concrete stairs for no emergency at all. No fire, nothing. A staff member held the door open to the street as we stood waiting to be told what to do. Luckily we were already ready to leave, completely having to disregard the late check out that we paid for and did not get to take advantage of. I also noticed that the other patrons were left confused as to whether they could go back inside the building or not and asked ME (someone who doesn't work there) if everything was ok. I wish that I could leave at least 2 stars for the exceptional valet service (they were so very kind and helpful) and the front desk manager who handled our complaints but it wasn't enough. We did not receive the service that we paid for and that was the most disappointing of it all.

Cantrice E.

Yelp
Diego is the bar tender by far!!!!! 5 stars great attention to detail when preparing your drink!! Superb!

Renee' V.

Yelp
Came here for a special event on the rooftop. After the event, we ate at the downstairs section. I tried the chicken and biscuits entrée and it was soooo good. I tried a Bloody Mary which was well made. Also, a sangria which I was not too crazy about as it wasn't too tasty. Overall, I enjoyed my experience. The only downside was the service was pretty slow although the restaurant was not very busy.

Hall K.

Yelp
Customer service sucks. My silver chain and ear rings were stolen from my room and the staff were completely unresponsive. I called numerous times to speak to someone and no progress. First they told they would contact housekeeping and get back to me, nothing. Then they told me to call manager. She said she was on vacation and gave me another number. When I called they said they would get back to me, nothing. I called several times and went into loop after loop on hold. Pointless. Customer service, accountability sucks.

Brigid B.

Yelp
Worst hospitality experience of my life. I really wanted to like this place for its location and rooms but the staff makes it completely impossible. If you choose to stay here, be prepared to get an entirely different room than the one you booked because they gave your room away or you were lied to about availability. Don't expect an apology, expect the rudest concierge to tell you that YOU are mistaken and there's nothing they can do and then have the worlds most offensive and aggressive manager tell you she can just go ahead and cancel your reservation instead. On your birthday. I made the mistake of giving this place a second chance after being given the wrong room type for my first stay. I cannot believe it happened again. We tried to go to the rooftop bar after being told it had outdoor heated seating only to find that outdoor seating hadn't been open in days. We decided to give the bar a try anyway, and were given the wrong drinks. One I swear was just brown tinted soda water. Again, met with a staff that didn't really care about hospitality. Only stay here if you need a bed to sleep in north jersey but protip try to avoid any situation in which you'd have to talk to staff or need anything from a staff member, especially the front desk attendants and the front desk manager. She is absolutely horrible and wildly unpleasant.

Lisa C.

Yelp
Brendan and Nisa were the best. They took great care of our big family scene, and the turkey dinner was really delish.

Quin S.

Yelp
Sooo I initially booked this hotel because I thought they had tubs in their rooms ( as advertised). They do not But, the rooms are nice and very modern. The staff I interacted with during my 2 different stays were very accommodating and helpful. The location of the hotel is prime. Restaurants, shops, etc all within short walking distances. * you have to have a reservation for the rooftop bar*

Mike V.

Yelp
Yes it's a 5 star hotel. No it's not worth the price. Although the room was great, it certainly didn't merit the nearly $700 price tag. My room was listed at $514 on the website with a note to "call the hotel for an even better rate". That better rate included over $150 in taxes and fees. Be warned. The first amenity listed was a fully stocked mini bar. We soon learned this was simply not to be. Apparently with the recent development of Covid (18 months ago) no one was able to update the website. With no ice bucket or glasses in the room, we asked at the front desk if they could send them up. They said no problem. Luckily we passed the desk on our way back and our ice and glasses were waiting behind the desk for us. Ok. Drinks and appetizers in Allegory were very good, with prices one expects to see in Montclair. The only issue was that, in total, we ordered 6things and they were delivered by 4 different people. I realize that the service industry is struggling right now but the staff seemed disjointed and I imagine that's why the restaurant isn't open. The best part of the stay was a visit to the rooftop lounge Alto. Friendly staff and a spectacular view!

Yanedt R.

Yelp
Stopped by to grab a couple of drinks at the rooftop. Was not aware it's by reservation. The host was kind enough to sit us outdoors by the restaurant (small place) After awhile a reservation opened up & we got to enjoy our drink with a view.

Laura P.

Yelp
Known among the townies as no good.  This place is a bummer, y'all. It wasn't ineptitude or poor service we were met with... we felt full-on disdain. Not sure if this is a managerial issue or just some bad apples, but guys, I felt uncomfortable going to the lobby. Like, employees are seething at you. We wanted a staycation, but we ended up hiding.  I was snapped at and side-eyed to the point where I was scared.  SCARED!? What!??? The rooftop is not open to guests - you have to book way in advance, despite it being a selling point on their website.  Covid restrictions I get, but what hotel sells you on a rooftop and then treats you like a jerk when you try and go up there?  I've lived on tour for years, stayed in hotels of all kinds, and I will tell you, this is the worst hotel experience I have ever had.  And this is MY town!  I own here!  How embarrassed am I!?

Lawrence J.

Yelp
One star is generous, but Yelp won't let me give a lower score. Oh well. We stayed here hoping to take advantage of the rooftop and enjoy some views of Montclair. Instead, we were denied access to the rooftop. First, you have to make a timed reservation to access the rooftop. A bit unnecessary but I get it--there is a pandemic going on, after all. So we made a reservation. We went down to the lobby and approached the elevator to the rooftop. A female employee literally jumped in front of us, accosted us, and demanded to see our reservation. Okay. I pulled out my phone and showed her the reservation. She looked at it, said loudly, "That's for tomorrow," then returned to her station and ignored us. My girlfriend and I just looked at each other like, did that just happen? The hostility was so pronounced that we were in disbelief. We didn't feel welcome in our own hotel. From that point on, we avoided the lobby so as not to be accosted by other hotel employees. I had selected the wrong date on the reservation, but instead of trying to accommodate us, the employee instead just treated us with disdain. It's a shame when a guest staying at your hotel isn't allowed to enjoy its amenities. Other small sticking points: the bathroom sliding door refused to stay closed; the 'balcony' was sparsely appointed, to put it generously--a single plastic chair overlooking a beautiful view of trashcans and dumpsters in the alley. We will not be back here--we clearly weren't welcome. Next time, we'll stay at the George.

Yelp
Beautiful hotel!! Tea quality is great. I think it's called Risi super tasty! Breakfast: The complimentary breakfast isn't worth waking up for. They don't have eggs!! But their menu has eggs and chicken sausage. Due to me not eating pork the manager wasn't willing to substitute the pork bacon for chicken sausage. That's really a bummer that they weren't willing to accommodate. Something so simple would've went a long way. Especially in my post. The waiter was not that great. He was pleasant if all is good but if there's an issue with anything he clearly wants no part of it and he will leave the table before coming to a solution.

Lori M.

Yelp
What a gorgeous hotel in Montclair. My hubby stays there every week for business so I decided to tag along this week. I love that he is in such a beautiful place with top of the line amenities. The Allegory restaurant and bar is on the first floor offering delicious cocktails, wine lunches and dinners. There is also a very cool roof bar upstairs that has some beautiful views of the city. The front desk staff is so kind and helpful. From check-in to check out they make sure you are enjoying your stay. The rooms are beautifully appointed and clean. We were so comfortable for our stay. Just around the corner are several shops and restaurants, making the hotel the perfect location. Definitely one of the nicest hotels in the area.

Lauri P.

Yelp
On our way to Whole Foods we thought 'what the heck' let's pop into the new hotel and have a quick pop....curiosity killed the cat. Who knew that this would be such a cool place for a drink?! Beautiful interior, great background music. Very crowded with a diverse and well-dressed crowd. Can't wait for the rooftop bar to open in October. Check it out!! @marriothotels @mcautographcollection @boomerbitchreviews #marriothotels #mchotelmontclair #boomerbitchreviews

Yelp
I will NEVER go back to this hotel or recommend it to anyone. I live around the block and was excited to have family in town and have them stay at the MC Hotel. Unfortunately we were appalled with the hostess when we went in on a Thursday afternoon (with our family staying there) and thought the 4 of us would have a cocktail on the rooftop. We were stopped immediately with a shake of her head, no words, and then asked if we had a reservation. My husband said no, though it's a Thursday at 4:30, which is happy hour and btw our family was staying there! Unfortunately, not only was she confrontational she was extremely unprofessional. She didn't try to give another suggestion, she stood her ground and we left. It's sad because this hotel could have been a great thing for this town but the people that work there are less than inviting. I'm giving it one star because you can't do less than that.

Marc L.

Yelp
The hotel is nice enough. But it is not anything special. The staff is OK but they could be more friendly and accommodating. What bothers me the most is their policies. They made me leave my friends because they made me check I before 11! Mind you the room was completely paid for so what difference would it have made if I was Physically in the room or not? They don't provide parkingself parking is $25 and the room itself was very expensive, The Wi-Fi is horrible practically nonexistent.

Bill C.

Yelp
This hotel is horrible. Horribly overpriced. Rooms are small. Bathrooms small. Beds are too soft. The rooftop bar is lame. This place thinks very highly of itself, for 50% less, it would be ok. Not worth the money at all

Samantha S.

Yelp
This hotel comes off as high end...but it's more of that *hipster high end* vibe if you know what I'm talking about. All of the snacks at The Market (their small grab and go section) has carefully selected snacks. Do not expect to find Doritos or M&Ms. Expect fancy granola and quinoa. It's fine though, I enjoyed the boujee feeling of buying some Tate's cookies and truffle potato chips. The rooms are modern and clean. I loved the smell of the soaps they had in the bathroom! That's a fun touch. Staff was nice. Easy check in check out. Parking is fairly easy in the parking deck that is a 2 minute walk. Hotel is located in a great spot where you can easily walk to many restaurants. The rooftop bar is also what makes this hotel stand out. Besides that, there's nothing overly special about this hotel. It's a ~nice enough modern hotel~.

Yelp
They validated my parking, but then it didn't work and the garage charged me. When I approached them to get my refund which seemed obvious, they said it was my fault for not calling the garage??? They refused common support any hotel would, and were extremely rude. Would never return.

Yelp
I can't believe this adorable boutique hotel only got 3 stars... I decided to stay here during a work trip rather than the usual hotel I stay at and I loved it!! I am going to start with THE CONS: The parking situation isn't ideal not having a garage attached however the hotel does validate and it's a short 2 minute walk That's all I have for cons! THE PROS: First of all the staff is amazing! The rooms are well decorated and the beds are super comfy! The location!!! Starbucks, pure barre and anthropology in a 5 minute walk from me YES PLEASE!!! The restaurant inside the hotel! The two chefs were on Hell's Kitchen and the food is fantastic! Also the service is equally as good here as it is as a majority within the hotel. AND lastly they have a liquor license here so the fact that you don't need to else at a jacket combined with the fact you can have a drink after a long day at the office is just the cherry on top of that cake (if that's actually even the saying) All in all the value outweighs it all! I will 100 be back!!

Yelp
10 out of 10 for me. I'm a weekly road warrior for work and this is a beautiful, clean, friendly hotel. Every staff member I came in contact with was professional and kind. ROOM: My room is spacious and clean. Sheets had a fresh clean smell. Plenty of outlets for electronics, a desk to work at and a huge window for natural light along with a lengthy couch to lounge in. Refrigerator in the room. Bathroom is a nice size with great water pressure and hot water. Quality bath products. GYM: The gym was fantastic (especially since I had it all to myself this morning) - had a Lifetime cable machine, dumbells, kettlebells, peloton bike, cardio equipment, etc.). Lots of windows so you're not working in a dungeon. FOOD/RESTAURANT: I ended up having dinner at the bar last night. Although menu is small right now, the food was excellent. The salad was extremely fresh with lots of delicious colorful vegetables to accompany it. I also had the smoked wings and the fries - all very tasty. Lastly this morning, I grabbed a cup of coffee from the lobby early before the gym and then came back for an oat milk latte, chocolate croissant, and a Greek yogurt/berry/granola parfait! The parfait was done right - truly Greek yogurt (without a sweet taste), fresh berries, and the granola tasted quality as well. Everything is just what I would want in a home away from home. Well done on this Autograph property, Marriott!! This line is generally my favorite, but not all are equal. This one really stood out in a great way, so much that I'm writing my review before I'm checking out this morning! Sorry for the lack of pictures but you won't be disappointed. I just wish it was not a quick in/out trip and I could explore the area a bit. Next time!

Yelp
Stay at The George - wish I had. Not a bad hotel, but horrible management. The hotel failed to clean my room after I was gone from 9 am to 4 pm (I did not put out the do not disturb sign). I was assured the situation would be rectified after I left at 5:45 pm. That did not happen. When I called the next day to figure out what happened, they claimed I had put out the do not disturb sign (I had not). I understand mistakes are made, but accusing me of being a liar is abhorrent.

Yelp
Great service everyone was very polite. Food could have been HOT! wasn't bad just not hot as l would have liked. Drinks... honestly aren't worth it, a glass filled with ice with very little isn't a cocktail. That's simply called robbery, l would highly suggest order your libations neat! Would definitely come again though.

Yelp
Highly recommend staying at The George over this place. Especially if you are a solo female traveler. They failed to clean my room despite me being out from 9am to 4pm and never putting up the "do not disturb" sign. Being surprised my place was not cleaned, I checked if I had left out the do not disturb sign. I had not. After calling, I was the assured that the situation would be rectified when I left again at 6 pm. However, this did not happen. I called the next day to figure out what happened. I understand mistakes can be made, but I was offered no apologies and instead the hotel manager sent the hot-headed, male manager of cleaning services to my room who berated me and accused me of lying. This would make anyone uncomfortable, but I felt particularly vulnerable as a single female traveler. To add insult to injury, the hotel manager continued to gaslight me and the recompense they offered was a room upgrade for my next stay (why would I ever stay here again?). In addition, the walls are super thin. I could hear every door opening/closing in the hallway and the bathroom noises of the people above.

Yelp
Room was clean, cleaning service upon request. Two receptionists (one when I called before checking in and one at check in) both boasted of a continental breakfast spread with "bagels, muffins, pastries and croissants" along with coffee were promised from 6:00am to 11:00am. Lies, all lies. I set my alarm to go downstairs to get coffee and a muffin for my daughter and they had nothing. It was 8:45am and the one gal working the desk said she was about to put out coffee. So I waited till 9:00 for coffee. 1 cup, empty milk carafe, empty almond milk carafe and I said forget about it. Many people got off the elevator looking for their continental breakfast too. You see, I called ahead and asked because I could've brought coffee and muffins with me. This hotel needs better management. Only one of two elevators in working, the restaurant is closed, the "market" is a joke. This place could really be something.

Yelp
Believe the 1star reviews. Ghetto is being generous. Maybe I can see in S. Orange but how in Montclair?

Yelp
Some of the same issues as last time. Suite was beautiful but heat wasn't working at first. Maintenance came and said the vents need to be cleaned. I have an extra charge on my card I haven't yet determined what for. The room rates were very generous and the manager is very nice. Please fix your heating!

Yelp
After getting blown off/ignored by the catering manager Trevor for a planned wedding event this year, we tried out the rooftop bar for a drink and snacks with low expectations as to the service. It turns out our reluctance was justified. In a bar area that wasn't even half full, we made to wait for seating for 10 min by the hostess who was engaged in conversation with another staff person. The service was adequate but unfriendly. It seemed like no one was running the place, sort of a free for all. Overall, there seemed to be an attitude among the staff that was warranted by the half empty space.

Yelp
Not worth the price. In this price range I expect the extras such as extra pillows, extra towels, in-room coffee, etc. My room had none of these. To make matters worse, this place was very noisy. The traffic outside and the other guests were very noticeable and othersome.

Yelp
Unnecessarily unpleasant staff. It feels like they go out of their way to be rude. It was surprisingly aggressive. Every interaction with the front desk and guest services was just met with a negative and dismissive response. The hotel was fine, not really that special, but the reason I wouldn't stay there in the future again is 100% because of the unwelcoming staff. They make you feel like they are doing you a favor by letting you stay there for $250/$300 a night. Parking is $25/day at the garage next door or $35/day for valet. If you park yourself you have to pay $25 every time you use your car. The bathroom barn door does not close all the way so privacy is limited if that matters to you. Breakfast must be purchased from the restaurant downstairs which is only open on the weekends. Otherwise they send you to a cafe down the block. It doesn't really make sense that a hotel that big and busy would have no option to get breakfast in the morning. Other reviews have mentioned not feeling comfortable in the lobby. That was my experience as well. I did not want to have to interact with the staff at all because their tone and demeanor was just so cold. I would also highly recommend staying at The George if you are in Montclair instead. They are friendly, welcoming and professional there. It's hands down a much better experience for your money.

Yelp
Very nice modern hotel We were automatically upgraded to a superior King which was of a nice size, big Smart TV and upscale toiletries. Two of us wanted to go up to the bar, but it was too full to take more people. Continental breakfast fresh and plentiful. OJ clearly fresh squeezed, fruit bowl would have been big enuf for two and excellent coffee Service at breakfast was good. We ordered two additional entrees which were fine. Typical of MARRIOTT, profile requests (feather free, extra towels) were not known to front desk and even texting in advance didn't help.

Yelp
Surprised to be so disappointed in this hotel. Seems form/design over function. No lobby seating- focus is large bar. Minimal cafe, not staffed. Free regular coffee urn on bar early morning. Room small with minimalist design. Felt cold. Lighting poor in room. Very clean and new. Nice safe in closet. No lighting in closet. Convenient plugs for phone charging. Rooftop seating area closed both nights of stay. No interest in staying here again though it is clean and new.
