The Meat Hook Is Opening Two More Butcher Shops | Eater NY

"At 322 Warren Street near North Third Street in Hudson, Young plans a location with an 800-square-foot retail section and a back production area "that we can grow into"; managed by Sam Turner, it is expected to open around the same time as the Carroll Gardens shop and will allow the Meat Hook to carry products that "don't make their way down to the city." - Melissa McCart

They were incredibly friendly and helpful. Even though I was only buying a small amount, they took the time to cut the meat perfectly for me. As a Korean customer, I needed a specific thickness, and they did it with great care. The meat was also delicious. I definitely want to come back again!

Stopped in today after following along with the stores progress online and the owners YouTube channel. I must say that this is a great local butcher with excellent quality meats and other offerings. Made some of the sausages we got today for dinner and they were perfect. 10/10 would recommend to anyone and can’t wait to visit when they open up their diner concept in a few months.

The meat was great but the staff made it for me. Both super friendly. Mentioned being from Georgia and the gentleman got excited to share about his time working on a farm down there. Always appreciate it when it doesn’t feel transactional.

I like the quality of their products. Since they opened, I've been there so many times and tried pretty much everything. The meats, chicken, sausages, and even the organic veggies and fruits are all amazing. They get everything from local farms in Hudson, so it's super fresh and high-quality. They have tons of different cuts for whatever you're cooking, and the staff really know their stuff and can give great suggestions. The prices change depending on the cut, but you can't really compare them to wholesale shops because the quality here is way better. You're paying for top-notch meat. I also love their sausages they come in all sorts of fun flavors and it's always exciting to try a new one. This butcher shop is definitely a go-to for anyone who wants high-quality, locally-sourced produce. Highly recommend!

This is such a great addition to Hudson- a real shop providing a necessary service and goods, open every day and not just Thursday through Sunday. It’s the only place you can buy fresh meat produced on local farms. (Farm stores are required to freeze their meat.) The staff is friendly, professional and aim to please. Truly my favorite shop in Hudson.

Google
They are the nicest, coolest, butchers ever! And they have the best sausages I ever ate. Plus, everything else to make my dinner. It’s like living in Paris! I made a white bean and butternut squash stew tonight with Meat Hook pork sausages and Gremolada with sage and everyone says that sausage had an unprecedented flavor that elevated the dish to magnificent status. Thank you so much guys!!! Also, the GF Sourdough Cherry Walnut Bread from the guy in Hudson Farmers Market on Thursdays in 7th Street Park is incredible! Come shop in Hudson.

I'm overdue with praise. All the butchers are professional and kind. Shopped here since they opened in Hudson And the value for me is the high level of quality and freshness. You get what you pay for. House fresh ground beef, pristine chicken, fresh sausages, when available in house guanciale and mortadella. Much needed and welcome best new Hudson establishment !

Yelp
The Meat Hook - Hudson is a new butcher shop in the area. The owner, Brent Young, has another Meat Hook in Brooklyn. Both Brent and former owner, Ben Turley, may be familiar faces as they have appeared on several YouTube "Eater" videos. They both seem like nice, funny people. I was ready to really like this place because of the "familiarity" provided by social media exposure. Frankly, I wasn't wowed by what I bought. No complaints at all with the butcher, who was very accommodating. When I asked for pork belly, he asked if I wanted skin on or off. He also asked for the amount I wanted. 1 lb. and it was perfectly trimmed of skin, leaving unctuous layers of fat and meat. Cool. All good. House made hamburgers. This is where it went a little awry for me. Usually, it's an 80/20 mix of lean meat to fat. This was on the fattier side, more like 60/40. I wish I took a picture of it. I cooked the burger in an 8" skillet. By the time I thought the inside was cooked through (medium), the burger was literally swimming in its own fat. I ate it, after draining it on paper towels, but it wasn't what I expected. Is there a learning curve when you prepare organic meats as opposed to mass market stuff? Some items may be leaner and require less time to cook while other, fattier items, may not? Could the butcher provide a bit of info to inform the customers of what to expect? I admit I'm a bit ignorant on how to properly prepare these items. I'm willing to learn and I'll try again.

Yelp
This was my first visit to Meat Hook, after hearing raves from foodies. I wanted a tiny serving of perfect beef to prepare quickly with Tivoli oyster mushrooms, red onion, and riced potato. 6 oz tenderloin was the perfect indulgence for the moment. Wholeheartedly recommend.

Yelp
to quote the guy behind the counter "even our spicy sausages aren't that hot" is what I said as I threw 25 bucks of flavorless heat into the trash can. the flank steak was fantastic and delicious. but I feel I was told a lie

Yelp
I stopped in a few days ago to see what was available at the Hudson store. I was very impressed. The selection of meats was outstanding, as was the quality of everything I purch. Thevrib lamb chops were the best I have eaten in age. The green chorizo sausage was equally delicious. Staff were friendly, knowledgable of their products and willing to provide prod that weren't on display by advance order. The offer first quality meat and service. This is head and shoulders better than supermarket meats. Yes, the prices are higher, you get what you pay for.

Yelp
We have tried to like this place but each time we have been disappointed. The ribeye steaks have been honestly the worst we have experienced in all our years in Hudson and the chicken was equally tough The staff is wonderful but the produce let them down. Sorry
