Where to Eat Calamari in Monterey County | Eater

"Though a butcher shop might not sound like an obvious place to find calamari, the Meatery in Seaside makes a calamari steak po’boy that’s a top-notch lunch. Topped with Castelfranco lettuce, radish remoulade, and pickled banana pepper slaw and served on a soft roll, this po’boy is just one of more than 10 sandwiches the Meatery makes to order. While you’re there, pick up some house-made sausages or a seasoned whole chicken ready for the oven to take home." - Annalise Mantz

First time visiting this establishment today with my momma! After seeing the most recent episode of “Check Please, Bay Area”, we made the decision to check these guys out!! We had a great time eating lunch and buying some goodies as well! We got sandwiches to go: cheeseburger, fried chicken sandwich, pastrami on rye, and their smoked brisket sandwich! They make everything in house and you can definitely tell that the food is made with TLC! Can’t wait to try their other offerings and possibly buy some steaks!🥩 Just a recommendation with the sandwiches: include extra condiments such as pickles and/or relish/pickled vegetables.

There aren't enough words to describe how amazing this place is. Kyle brings in top notch customer service, the sandwich selection leaves me torn on what to try next but when in doubt just get the bahn mi. This is the place to get Japanese A5 waygu and other rare treats. Todd has done a great service to the community by having a real butchery with a noticeable passion for what they do.

Google
There are no words to say how good this place is! I heard about it on Check Please Bay Area and made the decision right then that the price was right to fit my budget and the sandwiches looked amazing. Grabbed a friend and drove down from Boulder Creek and it was worth the trip. My friend and I each bought 2 sandwiches each and each sampled all that we bought. We purchased the Calamari sandwich, Fried Chicken sandwich, Brisket Sandwich, and Pastrami. I am not sure what condiments they used in the sandwiches but each had amazing and unique flavors. Definitely a must buy again. , And then there is the meat counter which is the most amazing high quality prime meats, wild game, sausages, and other condiments for purchase. This is a must visit and I will be back to visit again. Absolutely loved everything!!!!!

Google
First time at The Meatery. Looks like a quality butcher and deli. I had the Porchetta sandwich and a beer. I was given a bite of the Brisket sandwich. Both sandwiches are delicious. I picked up some sausage as well some other things to try at a later date. I can’t wait yo come back.

Google
Pastrami sandwich & beef rib was good. Mac & cheese was OK. Asked for half pound of the mac & was sold a pound. Todd the Owner took our order. Initially his customer service was friendly. Upon paying for my order Todd came off rude & dismissive. He spoke down to me regarding their sauce. The cashier even looked put off by his behavior. The employees were great. This was a $80. lunch. As a tourist, I may return for the sandwiches. Disregard the customer service from owner unless you are a regular. He seemed nice to them.

Google
I'm in the area frequently for work and this is my go-to lunch spot. At this point I have tried most of the sandwiches and sides, and they have all been delicious. My favorites are the brisket sandwich and the calamari pot boy (pretty unique sandwich)!

Google
Amazing deli & butcher shop with some of the best sandwiches I've ever had. They carry a nice selection of specialty meats like rabbit & wild boar and fresh food for dogs! If you find yourself in the Monterey/Seaside area this is the place to go!

Great eats, and you can tell that the people love their establishment. Chef Todd and company are top notch in Customer Service and tasty food.

Yelp
Saw "The Meatery" on the PBS show called "Check Please" and I had to go there the next time I was in Seaside, CA. Well, I'm here! The Meatery opened 4 years ago. It is a deli with special sandwiches, bbq shop with meats smoked in a Green Egg Smoker, a butcher shop with lots of prime cuts of meat and in-house made sausages, and pre-made foods in the cold cases, like shrimp gumbo, that you can bring home and heat up They also sell beverages and cookies. The parking lot is small, so you may have to park in the dirt lot next door. The Meatery is a shop, but they do have indoor tables and chairs to enjoy your food or you can take your foods to go. The place is cozy & clean, the furnishings are made of dark wood, and the room has lots of light from all the windows. I came here on a Saturday at a little after 5pm. Tip #1, The Meatery is closed on Sundays & Mondays, and Tip #2, they stop making sandwiches at 5pm on the dot! So get there early if you want a sandwich! Looks like you can order online too, but I didn't know it at the time. Even though I got there after 5pm, I was still able to get some of their moist and tender smoked brisket, spicy mac & cheese pimento salad, and loaded broccoli salad with bacon bits. That combo was DELICIOUS! Yum!!! Everything is packaged nicely. Also got their popular black garlic sausage & cheesy Jalapeño sausage. Can't wait to grill them up! I will need to go back the next time I'm in town so I can try their sandwiches.

Yelp
I can't remember ever eating a better burger in my life. I told the owner to help me as I am unable to eat anything with black pepper or chili. He was thoughtful and recommended the burger and I am so glad that he did. I had to go Wash my hands and face after eating that juicy burger. Two napkins weren't enough. My daughter said she would've liked to have had a little less salt on her burger. OK next time tell them to make it light on the salt. My wife said I wish it had been cooked a little bit more. OK next time tell them to make it Well , or extra well done! The point is, they were very accommodating and took the time to listen to me and make that wonderful burger. I also asked the owner about the sausages and if they had any sausages that did not have any black pepper or chili. He said wait for me here and I'm going to check on the recipes. He came back and said I have one for you. Afterwards he asked if there was anything else he could do to help us and we said no thank you. The very next customer he said thank you for your patience, and how can I help you? (this was great customer service.) This was our first time eating here. It certainly won't be the last. We were on a shopping trip from Salina's. I would drive over here for that burger and skip the shopping next time.

Yelp
Yum! My husband and I are from the area and come down a few times a year to visit. We like to try different places each time, and since we've never been to The Meatery we decided to give it a go. I'm so glad we did! My husband ordered the Cali-Cheesesteak and I ordered The Turkey. Both sandwiches were absolutely delicious and different than any other sandwich we've ever had. My husband thought the tritip in his sandwich was tender and beautifully seasoned. My turkey was the standout. You think there's no way green beans work on a sandwich, but they do. The flavors melded together nicely, the turkey was moist and perfectly fried, and the cranberry sauce wasn't too sweet. The potato wedges were a miss for us. The seasoning on them was quite sweet which we didn't enjoy. That's just personal preference, though. Highly recommend.

Yelp
This place is magical for any chef, foodie, or tourist visiting the area looking for some great sandwiches! Chef Todd has a great selection of goodies! Wine, dried pasta, cookbooks, sausages, cuts of meat, hot bar! I can go on and on honestly lol The hot sandwiches change often and I'm always surprised by the creativity and well done classics people love! I ordered a specialty item from him, venison, while waiting for my order I decided to sit and have a snack. I ordered the pate plate with mustard, pickles, salad, with a huge crust of bread. Damn this was good! I'd have it everyday for lunch if I could! The grab and go fridges are stocked with some awesome foods! Prepared dinners, frozen stocks, meats, duck fat, beef tallow, duck, elk, bison! This place is a real gem! And he also does cooking classes! I cannot recommend this place enough! Go check it out it honestly speaks for itself once you enter the doors.

Yelp
We bought the Prime Ribeye Steak with 28 day age great marbling and very tasty but I tried your sausages which didn't have enough fat in for me and the maple sausage had no maple taste at all We were waited on by the owner's daughter had a great personality

Yelp
Best quality and selection of meat! Great service! If we didn't live out of the area we would be here weekly to purchase meat for our home.

Yelp
What a delicious treat! My wife and I saw this shop a week ago from the street and we both wanted to make it back. Stopped in for a late lunch. Service was good, menu was well laid out on the wall with no prices that we saw. Ordered a couple of sandwiches, one calamari and a fried chicken. Quick, order up in ten. My chicken sandwich was good it had a pretty tangy type slaw on it, did I say "tangy." My wife's was better. The first bite of her calamari sandwich was delicious. Perfectly cooked and balanced with the sauce and bread. That's a winner. After lunch , looking around a little they have some pricey wines, house made dog foods, books, hats and of course meats, sausages and Green Egg Smoker's to cook them. Last words...so local, so good.

Cheryl L.

Yelp
Omg this place is amazing! Fabulous food and excellent service & reasonable prices for the high quality. You can get lunch and then get meat and all the sides for dinner in one stop! Very clean and cute restaurant. Must gets: Rueben, meatball sandwich, bang mi, roasted chicken with the green beans and Caesar salad was absolutely exceptional. Also order the Mac and cheese, broccoli salad, Cole slaw, potato salad & cucumber kimchi salad-- all are amazing. Will go back again and again.

Yelp
As people have noted, very delicious great food, creative new combinations. We split the Callie cheesecake and brought home a bunch of house made sausages. We will be back. Nice intimate environment, very busy on a Saturday afternoon.

C W.

Yelp
Brisket sandwich was 60% greasy chunks of fat, 20% actual meat & came on a small roll. Sandwiches only, comes with no sides for the high price. Had to order a side extra, mac n cheese, which was very dry & could not taste any cheese & got a soda & the total was over $29! My friend got the calamari sandwich & was not good, she said the cold slaw they put on it had too much vinegar, that was all she could taste. This is not customer friendly as for $29+, the sandwich should be big & have meat, not greasy fat & have included in the high price a side like beans, salad, potato chips, fries, cold slaw, or potato salad. Very disappointed, either the people on Check Please did not give honest reviews or they have bad pallets!

Alison H.

Yelp
We visited on Saturday at 5 pm after watching " Check Please". We stepped up to the counter at 5:05 pm. I felt like I was stepping into a Seinfeld series, "no soup for you"! Except this was "no meat for you! " The guy behind the counter was adamant- none of the sandwiches were available- all sold out except brisket! Bummer! It's just slightly after 5, close at 6. Oh! So we got 2 of the brisket sandwiches . It was 3/4 fat and 1/4 brisket.... Yuk! A squirt of bbq sauce, One pickle and a few onion slices.... Tiny bun. Nothing like I saw on the show. And did I say it was 80% fat? Yeah brisket tends to be fatty, but my sandwich was one thick slice overwhelmingly fat! Gross! I had to get a plastic knife to cut it all off! The Mac and cheese, I'm sure it was good but it wasn't even hot! The broccoli salad was good. Bottom line $62 and I gave $8 tip but just as a courtesy as the counter guy just threw our sandwiches together - no love included! And I asked for a receipt and I never got it. Next customer! Oh ... I bought their chicken dog food- the poodles love it. Great for dogs, not people! Otherwise, the Meatery was a big disappointment . If you are open till 6 pm, make enough to last till you lock the door. Otherwise get there early. Maybe you'll have a better experience!

Yelp
Listen.. I have never submitted a review SO QUICKLY for something I've eaten. I popped in about an hour and something ago off the suggestion of a few locals from an earlier cafe visit. The menu is modest, it's got about 10 or so items, I'm sure they change it up with specials, etc. I let the man know that I'm in town visiting from a few hours south and had a hard time deciding bc it all sounded GOOD. Now, I think this is the greed they talk about in the Bible because I ordered two sandwiches. I just had to try more than one. First off, clean space, enough seating for patrons, and I'm sure the butcher meat to go is quality. The people working here are incredibly kind and have great energy -- I didn't feel rushed at all as I stared at the menu tryna decide. I chose the turkey, and brisket, with a side of some kind of snow pea salad (it changed my life). You'll want to aim for the other heavier sides but don't sleep on the pea salad! It's absolutely incredible.

Yelp
This is definitely a foodie's paradise! Super happy with the food we bought already prepared and the meat we took home. Now just looking for a bun to hold their hotdogs. Pretty cool Chef Todd working the counter!
google avatar

Bee X.

Yelp
Absolutely the worst brisket sandwich!!!at least 60% of it was fat, sold thick pieces of fat, not trimmed attached to a meat that was smaller than the fat. Meaning maybe 40% meat or less of it was meat if that. It is obvious they don't take pride in what they do and don't care about what they are serving to their customers. Ambiance was also too noisy with a music that didn't stimulate appetite. Make sure to check your sandwich before biting into it. Shame on me for trusting your work ethics,....ha, what work ethics!
google avatar

Yelp
Sandwich are great Best on the peninsula It's a really enjoyable Ok please order from The Meatery

Yelp
Absolutely incredible!! I LOVED the Rueben. So tasty they also had meals togo that we wanted to try!

Yelp
The Meatery in Seaside is nothing short of a carnivore's paradise. Their selection of meats and sausages is top-tier, with most cuts being USDA Prime - a true testament to their commitment to quality. Whether you're picking up something to grill at home or sitting down for a bite, you can taste the difference in every bite. Now, let's talk about their Reuben sandwich. Hands down, one of the best I've ever had - and that's saying something, considering I've sampled Reubens from coast to coast. Perfectly balanced, packed with flavor, and served on bread that holds up to the heft without getting soggy - it's a must-try. The staff is just as impressive as the food - warm, knowledgeable, and genuinely happy to help you navigate the incredible offerings. One important note: don't come here in a rush. Great things take time, and The Meatery takes the time to do things right. The wait is never long without reason, and it's always, always worth it. If you're after quality, this is the place.
google avatar

Robert S.

Yelp
I ordered the Ruben. Very friend staff up front. Place is in great location, chill vibe with the beach less than a mile away. It's a damn good sandwich . Con's: I was the only customer in at the time and it was a wait for just a sandwich. It's a bit pricey; I paid right under $20 thinking it came w fries but I was eating.

Yelp
We were going to the nail place next-door, and we smelled something delicious coming from next-door at the Meatery so we decided to stop in and just take a look. We had just ate. I wanna make that known, but we still got a pound of brisket and mac & cheese, and then more pickles to go. That's how beautiful and wonderful the food smelled. The taste was as amazing as it looked. The brisket was fork tender and outside had that perfect satisfying slight crunch. The brisket came with a housemade barbecue sauce that was perfect with the pickles and pickled onions. The mac & cheese was OK. When I come back (and we will come back!), it will be to get some fresh meats to take home, try a sandwich off of their menu. And definitely get more brisket! Great staff. Very nice. Seating for inside eating. It's a very small parking lot, but there's some side parking in the dirt. I can't wait to go back!

Judi G.

Yelp
My meatball sandwich was barely warm. Likewise my companion's brisket sandwich. No Dijon mustard available (for the Reuben) even though there is a small area that sells various mustards, etc. Not much of a non-alcoholic beverage selection. They could add some more space for tables if they got rid of the Big Egg barbeque equipment they sell. Parking lot is small. Additional parking is a rutted mess. However, if you want to spend a lot of money on hard to find meats, sausages, spreads, etc this place may please you
google avatar

Laura A.

Yelp
Today I got the meatball sub. It's been quite a while since I've gotten one. Seemed like the bread was a little different, or maybe the cut? And would have liked more marinara. However, it was delicious! The recipe has such a great combination of flavors with the tender meatballs, mozzarella, sauce, and aioli. I also bought a couple of breakfast sausages and some chips. I've had the paprika chips before and they are thin and crisp. Really good! So I got those and I'm trying the Iberico ham ones and the truffle ones too. Their sandwich menu is larger and tempting. The cases of sausages and meats also looks great!
google avatar

Benjamin B.

Yelp
Best meat selection in Monterey County. We've had their ribeyes, filets, flank steaks. Mac and cheese and macaroni salad also good.
google avatar

Joel S.

Yelp
I had read about this place and the pastrami sandwich and it didn't disappoint. I was expecting a big pastrami sandwich like from the New York delis but this is more manageable and the taste was better. Not quite as juicy but it melds together nicely. I look forward to going back.
google avatar

Tareq B.

Yelp
I'm a huge fan of Todd Fisher, the famous chef who competed in Hell's kitchen. He's one of the top chefs in Monterey area so when I saw his commercial on Instagram about a brisket sandwich, I had to have it. The brisket is cooked for 18 hours and it was soft and delicious, very well seasoned perfectly balanced. While there we also noticed a beef ribs that is slow cooked. It was served with some homemade pickles and a side of barbecue sauce which also appeared to be homemade. The food was excellent, but the service was a bit slow and the cashier who was delivering the food to our tablewould only bring one fork and knife so I had to go ask for another overall experiences. Excellent I highly recommend this place. The interior is q.v. decorated.
google avatar

Vanpoppelen R.

Yelp
I really enjoyed the steak at this restaurant. It was perfectly cooked, and the flavors were rich and bold. The texture was so tender that it practically melted in my mouth. It was such a satisfying meal.
google avatar

Marie B.

Yelp
Surprised I had not heard of this shop and so glad a local recommended it! Drove right past, not seeing sign. Tucked in. Could be walking into top tier Carmel shop (a compliment) and so glad they chose to locate in Seaside. When you're this good people will come to YOU!! My meatery burger was excellent and I commented liking that we weren't asked "how we wanted it cooked" as they confidently cooked it to perfection (med rare). I'd rather finish a burger than take any home and for that it was a perfect size and smartly not served with anything else. I wouldn't have been able to eat fries also. Loved that sauce, little pickle surprise and smoothly delicious potato bun. Companion had the brisket sandwich and I eyed it as a thing of beauty, with its beautiful color and perfect crisp edges. It was a lot of meat and he took half home and is smacking his lips on it as I type. We did add a piece of the Chocolate Guinness Cake. Also yummy and quite rich with the abundant frosting. I might be more of a rich dark chocolate fan but it was a wonderful treat anyway. Browsed the well laid out shelves of epicurean delights, including mice picnic adding, the terrific custom dog eats, bones, and rubs. Already looking forward to next visit. (Oh, and nicely appointed clean bathroom with Mrs Meyers soap a plus). Nothing but praise
google avatar

Tristan R.

Yelp
HANDS DOWN!! THE BEST RUBEN SANDWICH IVE EVER HAD!!!! Their potatoe wedge fries were next level too seasoned/crisped perfectly Home made ketchup so good too‍
google avatar

David F.

Yelp
First time there and had delicious sandwiches. I took some sausages home and those are delicious as well. It's worth the visit to eat and take some goodies home. They also sell a couple different Big Green Egg as well if you're into the acorn scene.
google avatar

Bryan B.

Yelp
Been a stan since the beginning. Try the Bahn mi sandwich hard to go wrong in here.very high quality meats up in here.
google avatar

Jessica S.

Yelp
Even though the Meatery has been around for a few years, this was the first time I've ever stopped in. After ordering my sandwich, I had some time to peruse the rest of the hidden gems in this shop. From grab-n-go lasagna that you can bake at home to the bountiful array of unique sausages in their meat case, I'm definitely coming back! The shop itself gives off hipster vibes, yet retains the hometown warmth of a mom-n-pop shop. With a couple of tables inside, you have the option to dine in or take out. And, the busy staff always makes time for the customer. The pastrami in my Rueben was on point! And, the brisket... fagetaboudit! I'm definitely coming back to the Meatery.
google avatar

Diron K.

Yelp
Great place that is run by really friendly people. Our sandwich was awesome, and the ambiance was simple, but effective. We would definitely come back here again.

Larry B.

Yelp
The Meatery is a remarkable place because of its owner Todd Fisher, and his really great staff. While it is not open every day of the week, a trip there on days when it is open is always a treat. Tuesdays through Saturdays. When I've gone to get items for a special dinner with friends at our home, Todd is always there to make suggestions including, for example, how best to make duck breasts on the barbeque. Our guests still rave about how delicious that dinner tasted. Recently, I purchased steaks which Todd recommended and, after carefully writing the "recipe" on the wrapper for how many minutes to cook and the proper placement on the grill, I followed his instructions and again got rave reviews from our guests. No doubt one of the best secret places on the Monterey Peninsula.
google avatar

Marco S.

Yelp
Every town has one of these hidden gems where you can find amazing sandwiches and meat cuts. Reuben sandwich is what I was craving and that's what I got. No frills solid execution.
google avatar

Marissa T.

Yelp
GEM ALERT*** This place does meat right in a low frills, order-at-the-counter, take a seat type of setting. The brisket sandwich is top-notch. You will dream about it and crave it. The toppings and bread are all worthy of the meat they deliver too. It does get busy for lunch here but the parking is ample. Sure to become your new lunch joint.
google avatar

Theresa C.

Yelp
Don't really get the hype....bread was alright, meat was ok, flavor kind of bland. We got the calamari steak po'boy and the cali-cheesteak. Tri tip was okay but not super tender or anything to write home about. Service was a little slow from ordering to getting the sandwiches. Hot case of fried chicken, ribs, brisket that we overlooked. Honestly, I would try the hot case of items over the sandwiches. Or maybe we picked the wrong sandwiches. Also, the place is refrigerator, it was like bone chilling cold inside. Bring a parka if you want to dine in or it might be warmer to sit in your car and eat.
google avatar

Teresa V.

Yelp
Friendly and knowledgeable staff. They'll give you tips on how to prep and cook the meats. Lunch was also amazing. Huuuuge portions. I could only eat half of my pork belly sandwich.

Raul R.

Yelp
Meat quality is good, ordered two sandwiches to share bahn mi and the goomba. Both sandwiches have a ton of sauce. If you want to taste the meat, maybe ask for light sauce. It takes away from the sandwiches. Was expecting more for a $16 sandwich. Here's the excess sauce I had to take off the goomba to taste the meat. I'll say the macaroni salad was first class. I'll try it again with different choices. Maybe ask for light sauce.
google avatar

Dimple D.

Yelp
The brisket sandwich is a bit of meat heaven! I always walk in thinking I'm going to try something new, but just can't! The pickled red onion and pickles are delicious. I always order without sauce because it just seems like an insult to perfection!
google avatar

Jon B.

Yelp
So great. Had the brisket sandwich. So tender, such a perfect balance of bread, meat, sauce, onions. Also got the Mac & cheese, which was also delicious but really - the brisket was the star of the show.
google avatar

Bella G.

Yelp
We saw this place on IG and we wanted to try it . Wow was the food and service beyond amazing! They stop serving hot food at 5 pm FYI . Me and my husband got burgers, some brisket and mac and cheese . The burgers were beyond amazing. Fell in love first bite lol the mac and cheese had a hint of spice and wow it was good . The brisket was falling off the bone. Food was 10/10 would definitely recommend and will be visiting again soon
google avatar

George B.

Yelp
service is not so good not many people in line but they had two cash registers the people having a conversation between themselves behind the counter should have taken our order This is the last time I will be coming here with my family/ acquaintances.. and as far as the sandwiches go , if your visiting Monterey I'd say find another deli the meatery prices are a bit overpriced
google avatar

Erin M.

Yelp
Customer service was very good. Food had a LOT left to be desired. Do not recommend unless you are going in for the butcher part but the restaurant part was highly unimpressive.

E R.

Yelp
Amazing, Awesome, Spectacular!!!! Anytime I'm in Monterey this is a must stop for me, if I'm there multiple days then I'm here almost everyday day I'm in town! The food is delicious the staff is great! The ribs are falling off the bone and the brisket melts in your mouth...can't wait to come back! Don't forget to get the Mac and cheese, the fried chicken is also amazing! What can I say It's just all flat delicious!
google avatar

Jesus F.

Yelp
Food was very good. The fries were nice and crispy. I have a lot of meat options. I was very surprised to find out they have Jamón imported. That's lovely! Very nice decor inside and great atmosphere..
google avatar

Yelp
Brah best spot to grab a bite, flavor is meeeeeaaaan!! Juicy delicious. Very friendly and understanding how much they put into making bomb ass food, most definitely coming back. It was my wife and I first time. Was already thinking what to try next when we come back. Wagyu is bomb af lol let's gooooooo

Yelp
I had a hankering for a Reuben sandwich the other day so I went to Yelp to check. Come to find out that there's a kosher Deli in seaside!?!? Who would have believed it? So I went over there and was pleasantly surprised to find it across the street from Bank of America. Easy to find and lots of parking. I went in and had a nice chat with an employee and ordered my Rueben and brought it home for lunch. It took a little bit of time and it was kind of expensive, but the taste made it all worth it. I don't think it's an everyday kind of place but if you have a sandwich itch you need scratched, THIS IS THE PLACE. I will be coming back to try some other things I saw on the menu! Thank you, Meatery!!

McKenzie L.

Yelp
Excellent NY Strip steak! Well Worth the $ and much better than wasting your money with a sub-par expensive steak at a restaurant. It's become my go-to place for a great steak. Their Beef ribs are amazing but they run out before the end of the day. Only open Wed-Sat and so plan accordingly! Their products move fast and so they are always fresh. Enjoy! For the one day per week that I have a treat with meat: this is the place! !
google avatar

Viki D.

Yelp
We have been faithful patrons. I spend $100 + every time we go. Sadly the quality over the past year has really tanked. Today's order is our last. They were out of the Rubin. So we got the brisket and the goomba. The brisket was dry and flavorless, the goomba was disgusting. The lettuce was brown and the pre sliced meat stack was quite a bit thinner than when I've had it before and was old and dried around the edges. No peppers. And so much mayo the whole sandwich slid sideways on the first bite. A signature great sandwich is when it stays intact with each bite- epic fail. The server didn't speak any English so we couldn't communicate with him. In a gourmet meatery I should be able to have my questions answered. Sandwiches $18 each and inedible basically.
