The Best Coffee Shops in Dallas | Eater Dallas

"At this all-day cafe and bike shop, one can get a great cup of coffee with all the hearts out of milk in it. It’s also got breakfast tacos, burgers, and serves natural wine. So yeah, you can go from a lavender latte to a brisket breakfast taco with a mimosa to a prickly pear lemonade with a chicken sandwich to a glass of orange wine and — oop there’s half a day gone." - Courtney E. One of my favorite coffee places in Dallas. Went for brunch and dinner already. I recommend this place to all my friends. Great place for a date, or a girls date. Their coffee is 10/10 Avocado Toast one of my favorites in Dallas Pizza is okay. I probably would order theirs entrees than their pizza. Burger was delicious. Love the bread The girls at the bar were super nice too. They let me try their draft beers.

Google
The place itself is beautiful, aesthetic, with enough space to sit down and eat/work. Food and drinks need to be ordered at the counter. I was there to study, ordered an iced latte that was just average, had a jumbo pizza during their happy hour which I thought was a good deal for $5, and then had an espresso martini later. One thing is that the staff is not friendly at all, seems like you are bothering them every time you order. Overall an okay experience.

Updated Review – June 27, 2025 After getting a response to my original review from The Meteor, I reached out to the email they provided. I was given a $40 gift card, which I used on my return visit. This time, I ordered the seasonal “El Amarillo” pizza, and it was super cheesy and really tasty. I also got the Meteor Burger with fries which were honestly my favorite. The burger was juicy and flavorful, and the fries were well seasoned. For drinks, I had the lavender matcha, which was just as good as the vanilla one I tried before. I also took the GM’s recommendation and ordered the hibiscus tea with honey. I liked it more than the green tea from last time, and although I usually prefer my tea a little sweeter, it was still good. I still believe the food is on the pricier side, but considering the area, it makes sense. Overall, I had a much better experience this time. I really appreciate the customer service and I’m looking forward to going back again soon. —————————————————————————— May 2, 2025 Arguably the worst “pizza” I’ve ever had.. The Meteor is overpriced simply because of its location and vibe. It’s definitely a cute place to hangout and get some work done but the food was disappointing to say the least. I ordered the Maglia Rosa pizza, which apparently only comes with a tiny sliver of cheese and is covered in flour. Eating this was like eating bread covered in sawdust and spicy marinera. Their jasmine green tea was just okay after adding 3 packets of Splenda to give it taste and their matcha latte with vanilla was probably the best thing, although it was nothing out of this world. Very disappointed that this was my first experience. Check it out at your discretion.

The aesthetic of The Meteor is lovely! There’s a lounge area off to the right where groups can hang out, there’s a private table in front of the register that has a curtain for a table of 4, and the dining room has booths for 2 and corner sections for about 4-6 people. I love their avocado toast and chai! Great brunch spot to kick off your day!

Google
The food was excellent- I had the avocado toast and loved it! The lattes were definitely pricey ($7-$12 per latte!!) but the lemon vanilla latte was very good. Unfortunately the setup of the restaurant was a bit confusing- the utensils and hot sauces are all self serve, and there is a water fountain at the station that has a sign that says “water in bottles”. There were multiple half full open glass bottles of water in front of that sign, but we later learned those were used water bottles and we needed to ask for a bottle with clean water. It would have been great if the employee at the cashier had given a quick explanation of the system when we indicated we were dining in. Additionally, the seating area was pretty dirty - most of the tables had food debris and they were not being wiped down between customers. There was a lot of food on the ground as well.

Google
I was incredibly disappointed with both the matcha and espresso latte. The drinks were excessively milky, and the 16oz latte, priced at nearly $10 (including a $5 charge for Fronks milk, since they were out of their other nut milk) felt like a rip-off. Despite the high cost (which was far more than I've paid in other major cities like LA, San Diego, Austin, or NYC), the latte was mediocre, tasting like a watered-down single shot of espresso. The matcha was equally bad, essentially tasting like plain milk, to the point my husband wouldn't even drink it. As someone who makes matcha lattes at home, we found the quality to be very poor in comparison. The $18 price for a small burger and fries also felt exorbitant for a counter-service cafe, though I will say at least the food tasted good.

Google
Visited The Meteor for breakfast / brunch. Coffee was great: 5/5 Breakfast tacos: 3/5 - a little underwhelming for 3-4 bites considering the price point. Shawarma platter platter: 4.5/5 - hummus, chicken & pita bread were all very delicious. The salad was a bit too salty for my taste Loved the atmosphere a whole lot. I can’t wait to try the other offerings in their menu.

Google
Beautiful coffee shop on this inside. I love the design on and the atmosphere. The drinks were okay and we decided to get a cinnamon roll that ended tasting like pizza dough… thought it was interesting to try, we were not a fan of it. I would love to come again and try their menu food items and other drinks to rate this place better. Overall decent experience, still recommend to visit and try it out as staff were kind and friendly.

Yelp
I've come to The Meteor a few times to grab breakfast and study. This is such a fun and vibe-y spot with comfortable booths. Reminds me of a retro diner. It's a great quiet spot to study, and it doesn't get super busy on a weekday. But it can get very busy on a Saturday morning (understandably). I waited probably 15 minutes on my iced chai when I went on a Saturday at 10:30 AM. The morning rush did calm down at around 11:30 AM though. I will say that the menu is very overpriced. A small mediocre breakfast taco was $6. You are most definitely paying for the ambiance when you come here. But I think it's worth it to experience going to this place at least once. It's a great spot to catch up with friends or grab food with family. Seats are first come first serve. There's a calm and warm ambiance-d room/lounge next door with couches and a fireplace. It can get used for private events, but on a weekday it's usually been available to use. There's also a large outdoor seating area that's perfect to use when there's nice weather. There is a parking garage close by, and they validate parking! It did get full when I went on Saturday morning though. Overall, I have greatly enjoyed my experiences with The Meteor and would recommend that anyone try it at least once!

Yelp
Came here for happy hour on a Thursday. The $5 jumbo slice is a great deal! I got the pepperoni and the amarillo. The amarillo was delicious and such a unique pizza. The pepperoni was also good but some pepperoni bites tasted a bit burnt and almost metallic so not my fav. It's super cute inside and they validate parking from the garage behind the building. I will definitely be back for trivia Thursday nights. You order at the counter to service us quick and easy.

Yelp
The food and coffee were fab!! Week days they do big slices of pizza for 6$ and they are so good! The cereal milk latte is incredible. Trust me! It's counter service so no one waits on you. Really cool space inside

Yelp
Food: 10/10 Service: 9/10 Ambiance: 10/10 Lowkey. Dim Lit. Hybrid between cafe and lounge vibe. I came here to do work by their cozy fireplace and stumbled upon some DELICIOUS food here. The staff was super friendly and the happy hour is a happy STEAL! $5 jumbo squash pizza slice made my day... it was unbelievably good and I don't even care for squash items. They also have discounted alcoholic beverages. As the day turned to evening, they had a DJ take set and the space turned into a nice upbeat lounge. Highly recommend for solo/remote workers or a calm friends night hangout.

Yelp
Fun hip spot for coffee in the daytime or wine and pizza at night! Such a beautiful interior and place to work during the day or hang with friends in the evening. They do $15 wine flights on Tuesdays at night and have happy hour where the pizzas are $5 for a jumbo slice. Pizza was decent- not my favorite but I'm picky coming from NYC! Coffee was okay- nothing mind blowing and at a higher price point (paid around $7-$8) but worth the price point for such a beautiful atmosphere and if you're going to hang out for a bit.

Yelp
Probably one of the most beautiful coffee shops I've been to. It's so cozy and the design is really cool. I got a chai latte and would rate it 3ish stars. I'd definitely try something else next time.

Yelp
Wow this might be one of the prettiest cafes we've visited in Dallas. The retro diner decor was peak vibes. There's tons of booths and lounge chairs to work or chill with friends. Definitely check it out if you can!

Yelp
We got a round of espresso martinis which were impeccable. Made with fresh espresso and we saw her icing out glasses as we went to our table. So many seating options: multiple indoor spaces, booths, sultry couches, bistrot tables and outdoor seating. Service was fantastic as was the decor.

Yelp
Absolutely stunning venue! Prime location and food is delicious! You must stop by to try this place, you will be a fan for life!

Yelp
I'm thankful that the burger comes with fries but I would not order food here again, it is way overpriced for what it is. I could not say anything about the beverages since I did not order them but they looked good! The strong point to this establishment is how the ambiance and service is great, it is also near the virgin hotel as well.

Yelp
I visited on a Friday morning for some coffee. It's definitely on the pricier side for coffee, but my drink was good (I ordered an iced latte with their Tahitian vanilla syrup). It also looked like a nice area to sit down and get some work done or chat with friends. However, just due to the price, I'm not likely to return.

Yelp
First time visiting and even on a Sunday evening staff is welcoming polite and curious. Nice relaxing atmosphere great to do some work or meeting friends. Pet friendly. Coffee it's great.

Yelp
The Meteor is an all-day diner and wine bar on the first floor of the Urby apartments in the Dallas Design District. If you're a guest at the Virgin hotel or a resident of the Urby, you now have a place to grab a pizza, burger, or some nice drinks in an awesome space. My Overall Rating - 4 Stars Atmosphere - The Meteor bills itself as an all-day diner, but it's anything but. It's located on the first floor of the Urby and across the street from the Virgin Hotel, and it's as cool and trendy as both. There's a space for a full bar, and the well appointed dining room has comfortable booths and pop culture wallpaper. The place oozes with cool. 1 Star. Service - The Meteor is counter service, but the staff was super nice. You place your order up front, grab a number, and your order will come out. There was a wrong ingredient on one of our pizzas, but the staff replaced with an entire pie. Thanks! 1 Star. Food - It's an all-day café and wine bar, but this review is on the food only. The Meteor gets bonus points for offering sour dough crust pizza and vegan toppings. We ordered a large vegan pepperoni and sausage pizza with regular cheese, and if you didn't tell me it was vegan I wouldn't have believed it. The mozzarella left a string of cheese as I pulled my slice away, and the sourdough crust was hearty, held the toppings in place, and was the perfect vessel for the toppings to reach my mouth. The Meteor Burger was good, but not great. The patty was juicy, and the veggies were fresh - the pickles were the star. But the lackluster bun and price ($17) left much to be desired. The fries, however, made up for any shortcomings. The crispy, perfectly seasoned golden fries were soft on the inside. They were perfect. 1 1/2 Stars. Will I Return? - Yes....but I'll skip the burger. Did I mention the inside was cool? Not only will I be back, I'm excited I can invite my non meat eating friends to join me. 1/2 Stars.

Yelp
I came here for an event. I did the Black Swan Yoga event in which we did free yoga and were treated to free wine and pizza. Heaven, pure Heaven! We went straight down after the yoga class and were treated to delicious wine and flavorful pizza! We all sat in the room that looks like a living room and chatted the night away. The staff was friendly and non intrusive. I will need to come back during regular hours!

Yelp
Great place. Go here :) First, I was so happy about the retro and wonderfully classy atmosphere to enjoy coffee and a staycation. It's beautiful and well done. If you've seen Umbrella Academy, you'll feel like you just stepped into the show. I had the cereal milk latte and it was yummy. If you like your lattes less sweet like me, you'll be a fan. A little bitter a little bready. My fiancé got the Maple Spice Latte and it was sweet and perfect for a crisp morning like we're finally getting here in Texas . We tried the buttered biscuit, the Big Mig sandwich, and the Willys Wager toast. We lovvvved the sandwich and toast. The buttered biscuit was sadly a bit dry. It's a great place for quality food any time of day, and it's a great spot to work (if you have full battery). In the diner area, I didn't see any outlets.

Yelp
Delightful, stellar spot! We love the retro vibes and staff are all super kind. Delicious gluten free and vegan pizza Glad to see a few vegan options! Additionally, I enjoyed the matcha latte with oat milk and the market salad with falafel! Definitely check it out! :) there is also a bike shop next door, with a speak easy kind of vibe.

Yelp
Came here to grab a bite to eat for a late breakfast Saturday. The interior of this place was awesome!! 3 different sectioned areas to the left when you walk in it's a very dinner feel, right when you walk in there a counter to order and a bar area. To the right a nicer room with couches and a fire place. Lots of different seating options for different sized groups. We both got two breakfast tacos totaling about $28. Insanely pricey for what they were. $6 for potato taco, 6.5 for bacon and $for brisket. Tacos took about 15 min to come out which they did say they were making a new batch of the potato. I think they typically keep them right next to the counter. We were the only ones in there til we left and it had started to fill up a bit. This place has potential but they need to lower there prices for the quality and quantity of the food

Yelp
I didn't know this was around until I saw it on Instagram and had to check it out, cute retro diner vibe with really nice bar, lounge and great food. Great service and 10/10 spot, definitely will go back!!

Jocelyn N.

Yelp
This place has a cute ambiance--super aesthetic and a great spot to work or study. The food was good, but the service completely ruined the experience for me. The small man working at the front was incredibly rude when I asked about a refund or exchange for my drink. I ordered a matcha that was way too milky and just not good--I literally only took one sip--and he didn't care at all. His attitude was disappointing and honestly made me not want to come back.
google avatar

Yelp
This review is only for the food - I tried a bacon breakfast taco ($5) and a slice of pepperoni pizza ($10) both were lackluster so I wouldn't recommend coming here hungry. I also got a chai latte with oat milk and it was super overpriced for the size of the cup. The space is beautiful however and seems like a good spot to work during the day. They also have a rewards program where you get $5 off after $50 spent which I love. It's adjacent to the virgin hotel and parking is behind the building, off of hi-line. Parking is in a parking garage and there's open parking on the first floor that's free after validation. They're still working out some kinks with ordering and receiving your food and drinks - I had to wait awhile but they were nice about it.

Yelp
Starting with ambiance - excellent. Interiors beautiful. Main eating smooth lines and clean. The two seating booths a little claustrophobic. Bathrooms are small confined and the one I went into there was literally poop on the seat. Service - order at the counter bar and it's fine. Food - had the burger and chicken sandwich. I'd like to try something different because it was immediately regrettable. The burger is messy and pure salty trash. It approximated a McDonald's Big Mac if McDonalds created the messiest and overly salty and poorest ingredients they could find with the best buttery bread that had been toasted on a grill. And again salt on top of salt. The sandwich was edible. Not as salty but a nice thick chicken covered in spice and looked good but then incredibly dry. If that was what was aimed for then spot on. Fries - well fried, overly seasoned and then again salty. Not in the level of the burger but edible at the least. Drinks - had a cardamom orange latte and a matcha latte. The cardamom latte was exceptionally good, the matcha latte was meh basically matcha add milk blend, add ice. On the plus side I'll come back to try something else but for your own sake avoid the burger like the plague!!!

Yelp
Came here on a Friday night when my bf and I were looking for a late night cafe to vibe in Super chill retro vibes, perfect place for conversations and drinks. They had the fireplace on and the whole place was peaceful. Friendly staff! we had a great conversation with them. Not wfh friendly as outlets are limited, staff said they want to encourage conversations and interaction and didn't want the cafe to be a Starbucks/wfh place Matcha latte was creamy and smooth and I enjoyed that more than my cereal milk latte-- they did say their espresso machine was acting up so my espresso was under pulled and came out really bright, almost sour. Would love to swing by again sometime and try other menu items.

Julie E.

Yelp
Such a great vibe! Loved our dirty chai latte and orange cardamom latte . We will be back for the pizza!

Yelp
If you're looking for a Wine tasting event, this is the perfect place! It's beginner friendly and Scottie is the best instructor. I've been a couple times now and it keeps getting better and better. Scottie plates an amazing array of spreads and bread that pair wonderfully with the wines. (try his spicy aioli sauce) 10/10 must go for a gno or date night

Yelp
To start the decor and design of this place is beautiful. The music is not terribly loud but loud enough to enjoy and have a conversation and study if needed. Personally it is a little warm on this place but nothing too crazy to deal with if you are someone who is always cold you might find this place comfortable inside. The service was okay nothing note worthy. My three star come from the coffee I got was a cold brew and it was okay for the price and the the place isn't that clean. The cloth seats need to be vaccumed the corners were dusty and the tables/seats had crumbs. I came on a non busy Sunday. I'd recommend coming to see the place in person and decide for yourself if you'd come back. 5/10 experience

Tristan B.

Yelp
Awesome spot, Dallas needs more of this. The space is beautifully designed and the staff is very welcoming. I highly recommend any of the pizzas, pastries or fries. I've admittedly been back way too many times given that they just opened.

Rick U.

Yelp
Came to check this place out as i'd seen pictures of the cool decor online. The menu said you could order "tacos" so i ordered the egg and chopped brisket "tacos"... it's not tacos, but a single taco. Not one prepared there but a pre-prepared taco wrapped in aluminum. The tortilla was so moist i couldn't even open it and the taste was incredibly bland. But to add insult to injury, this thing was $7! One of the most expensive per capita meals i've had in Dallas. Attached is a picture so you can see the grand meal. To be fair, the coffee was ok.

Gina Q.

Yelp
Excellent customer service Love the bike shop in the back - Gonzo rocks!!! His personality is amazing!

Erica E.

Yelp
Service is always great. Cute spot for wine or coffee date. Food so far has been good every visit- pizza, burger, falafel and baked goods never disappoint. I love the cycling theme and vibe.

Yelp
pretty incredible spot as far as cafes go! the interior and ambiance are definitely what set this place apart--full on old time-y diner vibe but with a modern flair that makes it feel new and discoverable. plus their diversity of food and beverage offerings are off the charts--knowing i could get a great latte and a stellar blueberry muffin at the same place i could grab a monstrous burger or incredibly savory pizza is a great feeling. plus the servers were really nice and gave us some great recommendations on what to order, and they were really quick with getting it all out. will love to come back and try some more of their food options at a later time; until then, the cereal milk latte and the insaaaanely good blueberry muffin will be a great memory!

Colin Y.

Yelp
Look, I'm not one to leave a bad review, but I'm going to have to do it because this has been reoccurring. It's really all service, the food is pretty good, but coffee and service is awful. One, don't come here if you're in a hurry and want a cup of coffee, been here twice where it was just myself in there and I waited at least 5 minutes for a cup of coffee. That itself might ruin a good morning, but then you taste it and it tastes like water with a drop of coffee. Next occasion, came back for a cup of coffee to give them another shot, they were out of coffee. I thought this was a coffee shop? Well, maybe it was just my experience, but a little good service could go a long way, plus some decent coffee.

Serena P.

Yelp
So cute, amazing food/drinks! Elise and Ivon are so helpful and sweet. Can't wait to visit again!

Alexis C.

Yelp
Visited and the atmosphere was phenomenal! Even the restrooms. Great tea and Elise along with Ivon were excellent!

Yelp
This was the new chefs 4th day on the job and we were glad to be there to enjoy it. The ambiance and decor are cool. The banquets super comfy. We had the Mediterranean and the squash pizza and they both were delicious. The market salad as well was a perfect addition to our meal. Not to be outdone by the warm peanut butter and chocolate cookies. Working in the food industry, my friends and I are often disappointed when traveling for work and the options are limited. We've spent the last few months watching this place be built from our hotel and were hopeful. Finally we have a solid spot. I don't review places often but this was worth a share.

Carlos T.

Yelp
This place was a nice gem away from the madness. They have a full menu but we wanted late night coffee and cocktails. We tried the pastries (Guava pop tart, cookie and rice krispy). All were really good and the espresso pulled fresh. Definitely recommend checking it out.

Morgan B.

Yelp
If I can give more than 5 stars I would. Scotty was beyond amazing and my family and I really enjoyed ourselves because of him. The wine and pizza are an easy 10/10. We will be regulars for sure!

Kristen M.

Yelp
It was a great atmosphere ! Good seating! We went for an after church service and we were able to sit a lot of people
