I came here a few days in a row to work remotely and am completely obsessed with this place! The staff are super friendly and gave me some great food recommendations. They serve halal chicken, which is a huge plus, and probably the best coffee in town. Can’t wait to come back!

Service here was great. The restaurant is beautiful. I had a pancake and bacon which were good. It's a cute place inside with lots of room for photo opportunities. They have lots of specially drinks to try as well.

Great gem in Downtown!!!. We found it by luck and loved the brunch. The coffee, cuban sandwich and burgers were our favorites. We liked the atmosphere so much we decided to have a birthday celebration here. The owner and staff went above and beyond to make our birthday special. The night of the birthday party they had personalized music, cocktails and drink menus for us. Everyone at our party enjoyed the food, drinks and overall atmosphere. Thank you; It was an amazing night!!!

Great place in the heart of Downtown Dallas for breakfast. This place feels nostalgic, and the decor beautiful with a 1940s speak easy feel. I had the Metropolitan Breakfast Sandwich, which was amazing. It's definitely a must for breakfast.

UPDATE :I had to share today’s latte designs. See added pictures …. Was here Memorial Day for a delightful breakfast. Food was delicious, service- friendly & attentive. Even made a monkey face in my latte!! Unassuming from exterior, larger than it looked but a definite must if you are looking for great food and good prices. French toast, eggs, potatoes - all Yum!!! A new favorite for me!! You will not be sorry with a meal here.

Parked on the street. $1.25 for an hour Greeted warmly to be sat. I came to eat lunch on a Friday late morning. So warm and relaxed ambiance with Christmas music playing and home alone playing on the bar tv on silent. Eggs Benedict was great! Also tried the almond croissant. The dirty chair with oat milk was so beautiful and yummy. They have stevia too! Water tastes good. Beautifully decorated and welcomed by manager/owner too! Very friendly, posh spot. The ambience truly has a delightful charm, filled with character that makes this little downtown gem special. It was our first visit, and while the service was overall friendly -- we appreciated the effort -- we did experience a bit of a wait for the hostess to seat us, but we understood it was a busy day. I decided to try their special crab benedict, while my partner and our friends chose the waffle and chicken, French toast, and eggs benedict with ham. The speed of service was impressive, which we really appreciated! However, I was a bit disappointed with my eggs benedict. Unfortunately, the eggs and overall dish arrived at a tepid temperature, and the yolks were runnier than I had expected. I didn't specify any preferences, but typically, eggs benedict feature a well-cooked white and a warm, runny yolk. My friend, who ordered jammy yolks, faced a similar issue. On a brighter note, the hollandaise sauce was fantastic, and the French toast and waffle with chicken were enjoyable as well, even if they weren't as memorable as we had hoped.

Great ambiance, cozy and comfortable. We visited restaurant for lunch, all picked salads, and we were all happy with our choices. I had beets salad with salmon which was very tasty. The restaurant has a very serious coffee machine which our waitress was bragging about, and I have to say that an espresso I had was one of the very best I ever had at a restaurant. Excellent service, nice, prompt, friendly. Recommended.

Having read an article and the reviews about The Metropolitan Cafe, my friend and I stopped in for lunch. The venue is downtown near the Municipal Courts and is very comfortable and open with high ceilings. We started with a couple of House Special Espresso Martinis which were delicious. We weren't aware they stopped serving certain breakfast items after 10:00 am. Unfortunately, my friend wanted two of those items... Eggs Benedict and Pancakes. Neither was available because the griddle was being reserved for lunch only. Odd... we were the only patrons at 1:00 pm, but no accommodations could be made. He wasnt thrilled, but had a couple of poached eggs, toast, crispy bacon and rosemary potatoes. It was fine. My Reuben, made with shredded corned beef, sauerkraut, Swiss cheese, and Russian dressing, was very tasty. We finished up with another couple of Espresso Martinis and a Blueberry - Cheesecake pastry for dessert. The service was adequate but slow. All in all, a pleasant experience.

omg, such an unassuming spot right downtown. CLASSY, cozy, and with plenty of outlets for work. obviously not the cheapest menu ever but with enough range that everyone can make something shake! i got a delicious smoothie. more than that, the service is incredible, you can tell the owner cares about the business deeply. 10/10 date night or happy hour spot... reminds me of europe...

Loved this place. Been open for 18 months, but it's gearing up to be a hot spot! Our waiter, Bowser, made the experience over the top. Of course the food was to perfection I had the eggs royal, hubs had the breakfast plate and daughter had the Waygu breakfast burger. Hand crafted coffees were delicious! Thank you!

Needed a breakfast away from hotel. The ambience is pretty good. Good vibe and all. I asked for "Power Bowl". Yes it was ok, it hit the spot. May I suggest having an option with quinoa instead of potatoes. Then it truly can be called "super". Besides that, I liked the spinach, I liked avocado. I noticed a full barista offerings. There is a well stocked bar where I sat at. Yes, one can have a liquid breakfast.

First time here and will definitely come back! We sat at the bar and the service was excellent. The atmosphere is great. Everyone was very friendly and attentive. They have an excellent bar and drink menu. I had one of the best Apperal spritzes since leaving Europe. My food was delicious. My only complaint would be my eggs were significantly overcooked for a Benedict.

Ate here for brunch and I had the breakfast burrito. It hit the spot. Also had a delicious Americano and then a drip coffee. We took our time to enjoy and felt like we were checked on the perfect amount of times. The seating was comfortable and the high ceilings and decor were the perfect match for a downtown "brunch".

Was closed. On HERE says open until 9. Went at 555 and was closed. Was really looking forward to it, maybe someone can update the hours here Have to choose a star rating, but don't actually get to try. Kind of upset I drove over an hour.

Great atmosphere very nice location excellent interior vibes with cool staff as well. The food was a little overly complex and not sure flavorful HOWEVER it was good enough and balanced out by an exceptional ambiance. So I will be back. Nice small business to support

Net 3.5 stars. Great food. Nice atmosphere. Ok service. Expensive food and not a good value for every day dining for someone working downtown. I had the Mediterranean salad with chicken. It was an ok portion size but not large however it was tasty. $26 for a salad, tax, and tip is something I'll only do on occasion.

Overall amazing dining experience. From the ambience felt walking through the door to the welcoming greeting from the staff to the excellent coffee, main course thru dessert everything was exceptional and deserving of the 5 star rating . The highlight of the morning for me was the special of the day " crab stuffed eggs Benedict " with an accompanying perfectly broiled potato stack. My wife had a veggie omelette with roasted rosemary potatoes. We were both very pleased with our dishes. Before leaving our waitress asked what brought us out this morning and we told her we were celebrating our 43rd anniversary. That information was relayed to the Owner who came by our table to congratulate us and asked if we would like a desert. We were both very full but could not refuse such a gracious offer. The plan was to taste the ricotta stuffed French toast with Noemi's special twist and box up the remainder for later. After the first bite of sheer deliciousness our forks did not stop until the entire desert was demolished! Although, this was our first visit it will certainly not be the last. I highly recommend The Metropolitan On Main as a must visit location when you're near downtown.

Very tasty food. My one gripe is that the pita they use for the chicken gyro totally disintegrated while I was eating it, making it a messy experience. I would like to see them use a thicker, more flexible pita to make this a true handheld meal.

I've only been to this place on a Friday due to their special that they have on that day. My coworker told me about this place and I was so glad she did. I got the grilled chicken special. It's so good it comes with marinated grilled chicken a bed of butter rice, broccoli, and corn. It's a very filling meal for a good price. What I like about this meal is the flavor. I'm really big on flavor and this place hit the spot for me.

Great place to check out if you're in the area. I got the vegetarian pesto panini and it was really good! Portion was large and didn't cost too much. Nice little homey place! Parking is hard to find, since it's downtown so watch out for that!

LOVE THIS CAFE! The daily specials never disappoint.($8.95) My favorite is Friday's Greek Chicken but the Greek Salad on Wednesday is pretty awesome. If you live in Downtown Dallas or staying in one of the hotels here, you must try this cafe for breakfast or lunch. I would also recommend any of the delicious layer cakes they feature. Like Strawberry/Chocolate, Coconut, Spice, Double Chocolate, Lemon.... they all are so moist with velvety icing.

Save the Metropolitan Cafe!!!! Found this gem while doing a staycation in Dallas! The owner is super nice and the atmosphere takes you back in time with history all over the walls. Makes you feel like you've transported somewhere else which I enjoyed. I got a salmon bagel and it was delish! My mom got a ham egg and cheese croissant that she really enjoyed as well. If you're in the area it's a must stop in, don't let COVID stop you from coming in! They do breakfast and lunch and also have some delicious looking cakes. I promise you won't regret it!

OMG!! This place is like a monument! It is amazing! I walked in to very beautiful pictures and cool signage that said some pretty funny things. The had mugshots of Elvis, James Brown and a number of others. As well as the news paper from when Kennedy was killed. It was pretty cool. I order a croissant with turkey sausage and cheese. It was AMAZING. Mike was really nice showing pictures of the Tuskegee Airmen and the guy who shot Kennedy and all this really cool stuff about Dallas and who has visited this place. Really cool! They have a great menu as well and everything under $10!! Def will be back here!

This place is amazing. I come almost every Thursday and get the large Caesar and it is delicious. I highly recommend coming here for lunch. I've also had their Friday special amazing. Again, highly recommend this place if you've never been. Nice atmosphere and great music selection.

Woohoo, this place is awesome! Too bad it's quite a trek from my office. Despite the slight drizzle and detour, I still had a great time at The Metropolitan Cafe. The cafe is located in the historic district on Main street and is in a really neat, old building. The interior looks like it has subway tiles and the walls were decorated with vintage photos of Dallas and its most infamous criminals. There was a large mug shot of Frank Sinatra as a teenager, as well as photos of Johnny Cash and Willy Nelson. After talking to the guy who took our order behind the counter (who I think was the owner), it turns out that he was able to get those pictures because the courthouse is right next door. The decorations make this place really fun and historic, and the to top it off, the food is incredible. I ordered the greek salad with chicken for $8.95 and it came with an iced tea. Now this ain't your small dinky side salad, what came out was a huge behemoth of a greek salad on a huge dinner plate. The grilled chicken was cooked to perfection and the salad and dressing was really fresh! The guy who brought out our order stopped by to crack fresh ground pepper on our plates which I thought was a really nice touch. Others at my table got the Godfather sandwich which they thought was phenomenal. I definitely will come back here again...but probably when it gets a little cooler!

Every monday at work we bring in breakfast for everyone, this week it was from the Metropolitan Cafe. Breakfast was so good we went there for lunch, and I don't think that'll be the end of it. They have bagels, breakfast sandwiches, muffins and pastries in the morning, and sandwiches, salads, and amazing deserts through lunch. Parking is on the street downtown, that is to say metered anytime they are open.

Metropolitan Cafe has a small selection of food for every palate. If you're trying to stay healthy, Metropolitan Cafe offers a variety of large salad options. Make sure to ask for dressing on the side, as they tend to go heavy with their dressings. (The last bits of my salad were sitting in a pool of Greek dressing.) I opted for their soup & salad combo: a cup of Greek bean soup and a side salad. The soup was great and a bit on the light side. It was hearty, but not heavy. My bf got a Sicilian sandwich and thought it was phenomenal! Next time, I'll get their daily special since everyone raves about it seemingly every day of the week. The venue is interesting so take some time to appreciate the different artwork on the walls! There are pictures of Dallas' changing skyline over time, as well as a picture of the first Texas State Fair rodeo! If you go to the bathroom, there are antique (perhaps yellow-journalism) newspapers on the walls with sensationalist stories that merit skimming.

Absolutely the best spot downtown! Sandwiches are amazing, try the BLT it's loaded with BACON, they don't cheat you with two strips like other places. There's always fresh cakes and treats to satisfy your sugar needs. I like to play chess on my lunch hour with a coworker here and it's such a great vibe.

I have been working above this spot for more than two months and just made my first visits this week. WHAT TOOK ME SO LONG?! I can't speak to the food (yet), but the lattes are to die for. I'm used to shelling out $4-5 every morning for a basic caramel latte. This morning I popped into Metropolitan, tried an Almond Joy latte, and spent just over $3. And it was big and delicious to boot! The decor is kitschy and fun - Frank Sinatra everywhere, including on the stereo. You can tell that Mike and the team take a lot of pride in the Cafe and enjoy what they're doing. It's a real one-of-a-kind spot and I'm so glad I found it.

One word for this place! HIDDEN GEM! My gf and I stopped here for some coffee. I decided to try the iced vanilla latte. It was SO GOOD I had my gf try it (who doesn't ever drink any iced coffee). She loved it so much she bought one too! Now move on to the food. We both tried some sandwiches! First of all HUGE portions (you can eat one part for lunch and one for dinner). Second of all, DELICIOUS. Then we decided to order their meatloaf special to have for dinner later. We were so full from our sandwiches we couldn't eat the meatloaf. We ate it for dinner a few days later and it was AMAZING. Like, so good I was hoping they were open Sunday. So good I hoped my gf didn't like her portion so I could have it It was so damn good! Then the potatoes and green beans that came with it were just as mouth watering. And most of all, the customer service is amazing! It's the little things. My gf and I waited outside at the tables for our food because we were cold inside and he brought the food to us. There was a little treat inside too! I loveeeeeeeeeeee them. And so does my gf.

I have walked to this place for the Greek salad once a week. It very big and fresh with great flavor. Today, I switched it up and tried the potato soup that was broth base. It was the best potato soup I have had in my life. I wish I purchased a container to freeze. That soup was wonderful and they had some cheese and bacon. Talk about party in the mouth. I am so stuffed but still thinking about it. The soup had tiny bits of onions and carrots...I think. Can't wait to go again.

Love this place! Come here every other week, or several times a week for lunch. The owner is always so welcoming, and makes time to talk to you. He takes your order lightning fast and gives it to you with a smile! The food is amazing, just tried their Crab Cakes on Wednesday and they were delicious! Their special on Friday's (Greek Chicken w/rice, corn and broccoli with lemon butter sauce) is also amazing. Their special on Tuesday (Moms Meat Loaf) is really good! They have an array of sandwiches, panninis, coffee. The ambience is great, always have jazz music playing in the background.

This cafe is located below me in the Dallas Arts Center. Very convenient, great service in a timely manner. There is also so much history decorated in that place.

This place is one of my favorite spots in Downtown! Their breakfast sandwiches are great (try the Denver or classic ham egg and cheese croissant) and pair it with a hand made latte!! ... also the daily lunch specials are amazing - with my personal favorite on Friday! (Chicken over rice, corn, broccoli & a tea!)... you can never go wrong with a salad (the chef is full on toppings and the Greek is always delicious!)... the desserts are otherworldly! Get the coconut cake - it does not disappoint!! And tip your waiter... all of the folks work very hard, the owner, Mike, is the guy who rings you up! He's a great guy - and runs a great spot! I've been going to this cafe for 10 years, and I've never had a bad experience!!

I eat here with friends 2-3 times a month. The food is tasty, with a good assortment of sandwiches, salads and soups. They have a great breakfast selection as well, and their coffee is very good. I skip the tea and drink the coffee when I go. The husband and wife team do a great job during the lunch rush, where you'll see students, attorneys, police officers, office workers, enjoying real homemade food. The walls are decorated with lots of memorabillia, including menus and articles from Chateaubriand, the Dallas standard for find dining for 25 years that the owner's grandparents operated from 1958-1982.
