I almost never write negative reviews, but I don't know what else can be said. We visited The Milk Bar to see our friend's band perform on a Friday night. Since we arrived early, a comedy show was still going on so we decided to grab drinks at the bar. The place was relatively busy and consistently getting busier, but there was only one bartender (who looked visibly stressed), so getting an order in was a challenge.
I also have to mention that as soon as we walked in, we were hit with an awful smell - very clearly the smell of vomit. I don't know if someone had thrown up earlier in the night, but it had definitely not been cleaned up sufficiently. Every single person walking into the bar commented on it, and it was just wafting through the entire space. The floors were also sticky and the bathrooms were far from clean.
The drink prices were fair but one beer that my friend ordered was completely skunked - literally tasted nothing resembling a Bud Lite. Unfortunately, we couldn't even exchange it due to the understaffed bar. Once the show actually began, they added a second bartender, but even that wasn't nearly enough to keep up with demand.
As a music venue, I had no issue with the place. Their sound setup seemed sophisticated and the show was a blast. I also really liked the photobooth near the entrance - such a cute touch! But overall, between the smell, hygiene issues, and staffing shortage, I don't plan on returning.
