I came here on a whim and did not regret it. I am somewhat unfamiliar with Jewish foods and was excited to try something new. The server kindly suggested the breakfast sandwich, which on paper did not seem like anything special. I was very wrong. This is a top 3 breakfast sandwich I've ever had! Very light. Very delicious. Very pretty.

Beautiful atmosphere. The store owner is Steven Spielberg’s mother and they have family pictures on the wall, which is a warm touch that complements the upscale aesthetic. I highly recommend bringing your loved ones or business associates if you can afford the high price point. The food is super tasty as well!

I have not been to this place in over a decade. In fact I am usually turned off by dairy restaurants. I had a weak moment and my wife made me try it again. WOW was I in for a surprise. The waiter was polite and courteous. Gabriel the server came over to us almost immediately and seemed very sincere and offered his opinions which ended up being spot on. The food came out extremely fast and was very tasty!!! I give this place two thumbs up.

This restaurant is delicious! I haven’t been back since they remodeled it and was so happy to see how they upgraded the space. It’s really tastefully done. The dining room has a nice homey feel. Ok, the food: Very fish heavy menu- everything was super yummy! We ordered the fish chowder- very decadent, creamy and had nice big chunks of fish. Def ordered it! Fish taco were great. It came with a side of Caesar salad which gave me memories of the old place! Tuna melt was 10/10. There is a nice mix of healthy and heavy dishes which makes this restaurant a good option for lots of different type of people or moods. Overall experience was 10/10 (Besides for the temp, it was freezing!)

Unique and one of a kind! I've heard about this place due to its famous late owner, Leah Adler, famous restaurateur and once concert pianist, also, most of all, mother of Steven Spielberg. I finally came with a friend and we both enjoyed the food and the nice atmosphere! It is a small place, hidden on Pico Blvd, not too far from Fox Studio. The outside is busy street scenes but the inside has a calm, quiet, and neighborhood vibe. We ordered a salad and a salmon dish; both were good and the portion size was good. Now, before you leave, make sure you take a walk through their poster gallery -- Spielberg's masterpieces are all there! A great way to finish the meal with the enjoyment of images of some of the greatest iconic cinematic works made in this town -- and like they said in the commercial: "PRICELESS"!

Went to Milky Way for our 36th anniversary on the night the Dodgers won the World Series. I had an Ahi Tuna Burger. It was delicious especially due to the Sriracha aioli and ultra-fresh bun. I also had the fish chowder, a staple. The wife enjoyed the Japanese BBQ teriyaki halibut served in a bed of black rice and a side of green beats. The evening was terrific.

The Milky Way is a cozy, kosher restaurant with a really cute ambiance and comfy booths. They do not serve any meat here but they do have fish on the menu. The restaurant was owned by Steven Spielberg's mom, Leelee. Her memory lives on here through her delicious comfort food. I ordered the trout almandine from the regular menu and my dining companion ordered the halibut from the special menu. Both fish were excellent and came with an appetizer. We both chose the butternut squash soup. And for dessert, we got the cheesecake. The meal was delicious, healthy, and delightful. We had a great time dining at the Milky Way. The interior is comfortable and inviting. Lots of booths! The servers were very kind and hospitable. It was a very relaxing ambiance. Love that they have a loyalty program here. If you're not strictly kosher, don't bother. The restaurant didn't smell like food. I wondered whether I'd walked into a set (it is a Spielberg owned restaurant after all). The ambience was lacking. I think it's had its heyday. The whole place felt like a vacant homage to its original owner--mama Spielberg. The same videos played over and over again. Photos that should have felt warm but instead felt like crate and barrel ornamentation. The food was expensive and bland AF. The waiter and welcomer were very nice but the vibe felt off. It's kosher so it seems to attract predominantly kosher families. For me, I had the most bland "tuna melt" of my life, a boring glass of wine, and just kind of a weird vibe. I ate nothing there that was worthy of a return. I even began to question whether I had Covid because the flavors to the food were non existent.

I came here for the Fish N Chips and Fish Chowder. All I can say was DAMN, they all taste good. Fish Chowder taste is unreal. The Fish n Chips are perfectly cooked. Nothing bland or dried out. Nice staff and cool people. This may be our go to spot.

During my recent visit to Milky Way kosher restaurant in LA with my friend, we were treated to an exceptional dining experience. The Ahi Tuna Tartare and Mini Chimichangas as appetizers were flavorful introductions to our meal. For the main course, I opted for the Cedar Plank Salmon alongside Butternut Squash Soup, while my friend savored the Fettuccine with Wild Mushrooms & Artichoke Hearts, embellished with added salmon. The combined flavors and quality of the dishes made our visit truly memorable.

First time visiting Pico, so ofc we had to pay homage by visiting The Milky Way~ This place is booomb. My bf and I walked in on a weekday evening and surprisingly had no issues getting a table. CHEESE BLINTZES: Hot & pillowy, with a smooth, creamy filling. The cheese just barely makes it savory; otherwise, with the fruit and whipped dip, this is basically a dessert. I wish there were more than 2 :') SALMON PUFFS: This is so buttery and feathery, after the initial crunch, the puff just melts in your mouth. Savory-sweet goodness. My bf was a big fan of these! FETTUCINE WITH WILD MUSHROOM AND ARTICHOKE: Lightly seasoned-- you can definitely taste the freshness of the mushroom. The noodles and artichoke were fine, but the mushrooms were my favorite part.

The food and service were outstanding. We took our family there for our daughter's birthday, and couldn't have been more pleased. As a table, we had two orders of fresh baked bread and butter, fish and chips, fish chowder, tuna melt, lasagna, and fettuccine with artichoke hearts and wild mushrooms. We also shared a slice of cheesecake and one of chocolate mousse cake. Every single dish was delicious. The portions were generous and no one left hungry. The ambiance was nice, and the wait staff was very attentive. We couldn't have enjoyed ourselves more. Definitely warrants a return!!

Kosher restaurant located in the mid City area (I think) of LA. I seriously never heard of this restaurant until recently. My friend and I got like the idea of going here after we visited another Jewish deli the day prior and had sandwiches so big we didn't have room for latkes. So, my friend hit me up and told me this place is supposed to have good latkes. Got here around peak lunch time and it wasn't that busy so we were able to sit right away. Between me, and my friend, we split the latkes, some cheese blintzes, and a tuna melt. I will have to say that this place is very good. I haven't been to a lot of kosher restaurants in my time, but I would imagine this is pretty darn great when it comes to kosher restaurants. The tuna melt was made pretty darn well and it was perfectly crispy. The quiet self was really clean. It almost felt like a northern European type room with a lot of wood. Again, we came here for lunch around 1230 and it was pretty quiet. You could hear conversations almost on the other side of the room even though we tried to not to listen in. The service here was super attentive, and the folks were super nice. Overall, it was a very pleasant experience, and would love to come back here again. Also, it should be noted that this is or was Steven Spielberg's mom's restaurant. Her name escapes me and apologies for referring to this restaurant as such, because irrespective of famous ties, this is a quality establishment.

I love this place! Always great food delivered properly. The food is fresh and delicious great service one of my favorite spots! The cheese blintz is heavenly. I love the southwest salad and salmon quinoa bowl. The impossible burger and fries are great too!! Enjoy

This will be the lovely place I bring a date. Everything we had was good. I had the barramundi and it was perfectly cooked with the crisping of the skin on top and tender meat throughout. We also had the bread pudding for desert, the house coffee was not just any house coffee so please try it with the desert. Street parking only so plan accordingly.

I had trout almondine that was superb Like fried then roasted it was just delicious! The carrot cake I almost would never have was terrific as was the service The lounge area is so cozy you just want to kiss someone there! So I did! I will go back when down south if I can There were other fish items offers that looked spectacular- my favorite It wasn't cheap but a real treat! Spielberg owns it I think

My husband and I come here often for date night. Milky way is hands down the best and only kosher establishment in Los Angeles that has delicious authentic beer battered fish tacos. Our waiter, paul, is always so friendly and welcomes us warmly when we enter the restaurant. If you come here I would encourage you to sign up with their rewards system so you can get a free dessert or appetizer when you accumulate enough points. Cost of food is relatively reasonable and the food is always freshly made to order. Enjoy!

The food is fantastic. One of my favorite servers is Paul. He provides excellent service with a smile and it's always great seeing him. One of my top favorite places to eat in Los Angeles. Thanks Paul!

It isn't the same without Mrs. Adler there but the food is good. The ambience is nice and for me it's a lovely, familiar kosher restaurant to go to.

The food was fresh and the waitress were nice and friendly. Truffle Parmesan fries and potato latkes were good choices of appetizer. Tried the delicious trout before, so this time we ordered something else.

Great ambience & service. Our server was Gabriel; very nice, respectful and great customer service. It's a homey place with good food; we order a few starters including the famous fish chowder ( OMG, order it without any hesitation), Santa Fe salad (yummy with a good creamy spicy dressing). Out main dishes included the salmon piccata, fettuccine Alfredo, cheese lasagna, & fettuccine with pomodoro sauce. Espresso chocolate mouse cake was out dessert to end this beautiful meal.

The service was great the food was of high quality. I had a fish dish and my associate had salad. The mashgiach knew his stuff

We really loved the food, service, and atmosphere of Milky Way. Easy Sunday brunch crowd. Piano player in the background that was a nice touch without being overbearing. And a vintage Pacific Bell pay phone in the hall! #milkywayla

This place is so good and so much fun because of all the Spielberg movie posters. I miss his mom not being there -- she died a few years ago -- but the blintzes are still the best I've ever tasted. My only critique would be to add more to the menu!

The Milky Way not only has excellent food - but they also do catering. Kosher certification. Professional planning help for menu and portion sizes. We used them for a gathering of 60 people and rave reviews for excellence!! Highly recommend.

This place is definitely sort of hidden on the main drag of W. Pico amongst a large collection of Jewish restaurants. It only had a very small sign to start with, and with the new outside seating even that sign is hard to find. I didn't realize this was Steven Spielberg's mothers place, but there were tons of pictures of her and the family throughout the restaurant, as well as a TV playing some additional footage of the family. On entering, it was very clean and quiet, and looked recently refurbished. The host and waitress were both very pleasant. As a Kosher restaurant, they were serving what I understand to be a Kosher white wine at a pretty good price, "Baron Herzog Chardonnay". It wasn't great but it also wasn't very expensive. For lunch I had seen good reviews for the latkes and the fish chowder, so that's what I ordered. The latkes were quite good, very thin and extremely crispy on the sort-of frilly edges. They came with sour cream and not applesauce but more of a sliced and sautéed apples, which were quite good. The chowder had a pretty good flavor and some potatoes and a few pieces of small fish. I thought it was OK but definitely wasn't blown away. I really wanted to try the well-reviewed blintzes but didn't ... maybe next time!

This is such a quaint Kosher restaurant in mid city. The entrance is adorable and the decor inside is such a lovely homage to the Spielberg family (the restaurant was owned by Steven's mother and features many of her recipes). The restaurant recently went under renovation with tweaks to the menu and I am loving it. Definitely take a trip to the bathroom for a trip down movie memory lane. The menu is all kosher and vegetable and fish forward. There is no red meat on the menu and I do not miss it at all. Must orders are the latkes and thdeliciouse famous fish chowder. The latkes are traditional and served with sour cream and the most apple compote. They are the best I've ever had. The fish chowder is out of this world. It is creamy, savory and comes with a generous portion of fish and potatoes. I could eat an enormous bowl of this and be satisfied. Their burgers use impossible meat and are surprisingly delicious. The patty melt is perfect and tastes like a decadent burger. I love the oozing cheese, sweetness from the caramelized onions, and bite from the rye bread. Service is so kind and attentive. The street is lined with metered parking and I never have a problem finding a spot on that strip.

The Milky Way has been a staple for our weekly business meetings. It's such a warm, cozy environment. Typically Paul is our server at lunch, he always has a smile and seems to anticipate our needs! We just feel so welcomed here. The Fish n Chips are our favorite, always light and crispy, and we can't visit without getting the creamy Fish Chowder. Can't say enough nice things about the Milky Way!

Visited for an Oscars viewing party and enjoyed every last bite. They serve what is the best lasagna in Los Angeles, and service to match. They keep less traditional hours, but I'll visit again when I can.

Although the fettuccini entree with mushrooms and artichokes was tasty, the dining experience was something akin to a roadside restaurant with a swank interior. Our server was slack, not providing basics for us such as plates, forks, Moreover when my friend was dissatisfied with her entree the server copped huge nonverbal attitude ie: disapproval. This put a damper on our party for sure. Note to the owners: have weekly customer service in- house training for the wait staff!!

Fish tacos and Caesar salad was delicious. Great service and very cozy atmosphere. We really enjoyed our time there, their wine is also great!

Delicious & clean eats @ this legendary fine dining, kosher oasis! Be prepared for a pampered experience, filled with a generous menu. The entire menu is fish and dairy items which are soooo yummy! The entire wait staff are friendly & knowledgeable about the food selections, food preparation and Steven Spielberg's recently deceased mother. The restaurant is generously decoded with photos of his mom & his movie posters! They also have a Father's Day movie presentation brunch that looks fun. So.... If y'all are looking for an upscale dining choice, filled with delicious food and deserts - yes, had the chocolate mousse - this is a great place! Not every day y'all can eat at Spielberg's place!

Absolutely amazing fantastic food every one of the dishes that we had was above and beyond, service by Emily was superb five stars could've been 10+ we were super happy with the food and the service prices also extremely reasonable great atmosphere a very pleasant you will be extremely content promise you....

I came here to experience or see our galaxy. The magnificent 13.6 billion-year-old galaxy that is 100,000 light-years across and holds our solar system. Instead, I was greeted with lots and lots of pictures of Steven Spielberg. I believe the owner is a big fan of theirs. I really think Mr. Spielberg, as an homage to the owner's love for them, should film a scene here. Maybe a film about a Jewish boy who goes to film school and is told will never amount to anything but ends up being one of the best directors. This place does not show you the galaxy; instead serves you fish. In a way, fish is just as interesting as the galaxy. Had they not evolved into tetrapods, who come out of the water and evolve into humans, we would not be here. That's, of course, if you believe in evolution. So I ordered the fish and chips with a substitute of Ceaser Salad. The fish and chips came with a side of Veggie Chili Soup. I have to say the soup was absolutely magnificent. Talk about an understudy stealing the show. I highly recommend getting the veggie chili. Their fries are great too. Ceaser salad was legit The beer-battered fish was delicious. Crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. It is best with lemon. Garlic Aioli and Chipotle Aioli are good dipping sauces but stick to lemon and tarter sauce only. Great lighting and atmosphere. The Chef walked by a few times and was pleasant. Waiters and the entire staff have a great attitude.

Sunday brunch with live piano, priced and served where you will say, "Let's do this regularly!" I've returned enough to have tried everything on the brunch menu. Without hesitation it's all so good I look forward to returning enough to order down the menu list again. Easy and yummy for dairy, vegetarian, pescatarian, kosher preferences. Enjoy a cozily appointed atmosphere in nicely upholstered booths with collections of family-style framed photos that could feel like home away from home. My suggestion is bring your friend, newspapers or journals and linger a awhile. PS Yes, Steven Spielberg's mother dreamt of, created, and operated The Milky Way. You'll walk through a postered memory lane of her son's movies to the restrooms. Extraordinary!

What a lovely place to eat. Ill always miss the former hostess, who used to sing songs with my grandpa whenever I would come in as a kid. But the Milky Way still has that family feel and some of the best blintzes around.

What a disappointment. Went here for Hannukah was $50 per person for a prefix menu. They give you 2 small latkes to share with someone else for the appetizer. The impossible burger was not homemade. I make it from Trader Joe's all the time and it tasted the exact same except it gave me a stomach ache. They paired it with fries (a very small portion). For dessert, they had one option: cheesecake. I thought this was Jewish place ? I don't know many jews that can eat dairy. No drinks were included. The table next to us waited a solid hour for their food. The whole meal was maybe worth $10-15. Feel like we got completely ripped off and it was falsely advertised. I guess you could say schnordick? All to say huge disappointment. Would have expected way better given this is Spielbergs restaurant. Waste of $50

Beautiful ambience, classy place, and delicious food. Everything we ordered was delicious, including the chimichanagas, Santa Fe salad, and fish tacos... esp the cheesecake. Was my first time here and I was pleasantly surprised. Will most definitely be returning.

It has a wonderful welcoming atmosphere. We held my mother-in-laws 100th birthday here. The staff is very friendly and excellent at getting the food out. The food is amazing. Their latkas were so tasty that we went back during Hanukkah to get some.

What a beautiful experience I shared with my husband and enjoyed the best latkes in the world. From start to finish, everything was perfect. Started off with the latkes, then a Caesar salad and for my entree I enjoyed the Sea Bass. The service was impeccable and the staff was helpful and nice. Very attentive.Don't forget the cheesecake to go! I highly recommend this gem of a restaurant to all.

So nice to be back at The Milky Way after many years. Leah would be so happy to see it doing so well. We missed the famous cheesecake and blintzes. They were better than ever. Loved the new salmon piccata too. The friendly staff enjoyed hearing our Leah stories!! We'll be back again soon!! Always a special experience here.

I grew up experiencing my Aunt's kosher cooking, so when I was invited to dine at The Milky Way I thought, "Why would I go out of my way for dry, bland food, served by someone who nags me about my wardrobe?" Boy, was I in for a surprise. Not only was the food flavorful and delicious, everyone was super friendly. The restaurant is beautiful, with an effortless class, without being ostentatious. It's homey and welcoming, and a wonderful place to relax and have a meal. A fair warning: be careful with the garlic fries. They are insanely delicious, and you'll hardly be able to control yourself. Oh, and the salad with the green goddess dressing.... I'm obsessed.

I love The Milky Way's warm, inviting atmosphere and homemade feel. The servers are all so sweet and friendly. The décor looks like the classy grandma of a movie mogul's house-Oh wait! That's exactly what It is! I came in for lunch on a Friday and had the place to myself. This place needs more hype! On second thought, maybe the lack thereof is actually what makes it so great. Sure, grandma is riding the Speilberg wave, about 100 pictures of them together and every single one of his films lovingly represented by framed movie posters on the walls. But, somehow, it doesn't seem like it's done for clout. It's just a super proud mama displaying her baby's achievements in her dining room. Every. Single. One. lol. Needless to say, this is a great place to take your movie buff family member or partner. Tucked between a Jewish community center and family-run Jewish gift shop, Milky Way is definitely the shnazzy new commer to the block but not in the sense of " I'm coming to rent out a cheap spot and gentrify the neighborhood" more like "Hey were Jewish family and want to bring people round' to our awesome little neighborhood". So foodwise, they could use a bubby in the back because its almost there, just missing the love in it. Potatoes Latkas are good but dripping with oil. Could use a quick dry on a paper towel before serving. Apple compote was fresh and hearty, just a tad too sweet. The interesting wine list, with only one vino imported from Israel, was cute and fun. I chose the Israeli wine, Caramel Selected, a nice deep fuscia Rosé, also on the sweet side with a higher feeling of alcohol content. I'll be back with a group. There is ample seating and brunch offered with mimosas. Seeing as I did not get to try a main dish, I will most certainly be back! See you guys soon!

We hosted my grandma's 100th birthday at the Milky Way, and the food, service, and atmosphere were incredible! The staff were so friendly and attentive, the food was fantastic.. you couldn't ask for a better place. Thank you to their team for hosting us!!

We celebrated my husband's birthday here and couldn't have been happier. Stephanie, the GM was the point of contact and extremely helpful through the process of planning for our party of 25. She printed custom menus with a heading of my choice, which was an adorable touch to our celebratory brunch. The restaurant has a cozy cottage feel that is welcoming and bright. Since our party was large, we had a prefixed menu that was chosen from a variety of options. We decided on the huevos rancheros, French toast with berry compote and the salmon Greek salad. I only tasted the huevos and French toast and they were both delicious. We also had the cheesecake for dessert and ordered French fries for the table. One of the best French fries I've ever had. The only complaint I have is that a couple of the mimosas were warm and unenjoyable. But obviously that's an issue that could easily be solved. Thanks to Stephanie and the Milky Way team for making my husband's birthday a success!

I visited the Milky Way restaurant today. I ordered the Chilean Sea Bass. It was absolutely amazing! The taste and flavor was awesome. I would highly recommend it. I closed out my dinner with Cheese Blitz's. I would highly recommend this dessert as well. The service was excellent, and my family and I will be back.

This place is such a hidden gem. The ambiance is so cozy and homey, the staff are super friendly and offer great service, and the food is top notch! The impossible cheeseburger is the best burger I've ever had and their fries are perfect. Somehow they get each one perfectly crispy! The fish tacos are yum, the Caesar salad perfectly dressed, and don't sleep on the chimichangas! This is my new favorite place. Can't wait to try the brunch!

Pleasant surprise. Good food and service. Loved that it was within walking distance from the hotel.

Sadly my experience at the MW was bad. I ordered the Chilean sea bass which was $55. I don't mind paying that price for good food but the fish was about 2oz, very thin, overcooked, dry and tasteless. The bed of risotto it was on was tasty, but not worth keeping the dish. I returned the dish to kitchen and ordered something else. The server was not pleased with my return and let me know with his facial expressions and gruff response. In addition, the server was an inexperienced. We ordered an appetizer to share at the table. When he served the app he didn't bring plates and we were left eating it with our hands and not having a place to put it in between bites. When he refilled out water glasses, he touched the pitcher to the rim of our glasses that we drank from. Even before Covid this would be poor server etiquette. The décor of the restaurant is lovely, but they had the lights all the way up and it was too bright in the dining room. This is a small thing, but on top of the others it adds up.

Love this place - the food is delicious, the service is A+ and the setting is special. The blintzes are delish as is the fish chowder. It has a rich history with special owners and I'm so glad to see that it's continuing to run - and was quite busy when I was there for lunch.

I always love coming here, for the amazing dishes, the atmosphere, and the perfect service. Check out their potato pancakes, their wonderfully delicious and filling vegetarian chili, their truffle fries, and honestly, everything else of their menu!

Delicious food, amazing wines, fabulous service! We were honored to be there for their Oscar viewing event and will gladly return!
