La Cocina Responds to Claims of ‘Gentrification Hell’ on Social Media | Eater SF

"What became famous for its $4 toast on Divisadero has seen that price rise to $8 since opening in 2013; the Four Barrel/Josey Baker toast bar and cafe is named The Mill after the whole-grain mill used to grind flour for breads, scones, cookies and more, and its toast price is used in the piece as an example of how consumers accept higher costs once they understand the labor, rent and ingredient inputs behind a menu item." - Ellen Fort

I stopped in The Mill today. It was my first of many visits. We greeted and served by the most polite gentleman named Robert. He was so knowledgeable about the coffees and made the perfect suggestion since we had no clue what we wanted. He’s a huge asset to your business. Thank you Robert !

Love this place! Owners are awesome people! Staff are awesome as well!Great caffeine options! Local bakery stuff to munch on! Lots of space to remote work or socialize! Lots of social events to partake in! And they have an awesome selection of brews on tap to try!

Did not try the food or coffee but I did go in expecting to grab coffee but went in sitting down reading a comic and drinking a beer ! Amazing atmosphere very settle but out there . Awesome staff with the great service and comfortably of talking with them. Overall nice little hang out spot even to just read a comic with a beer next to you .

Staff is friendly. Lots of drink choices. A great place to hang out. There are a number of drink options as well as snacks, most provided by Stick boy bakery. They allow dogs so you can meet furry friends too. Coffee is really good. Fresh brewed and not bitter.

I love it here. Been coming here since 2015 and it has not lost its initial charm. From ripping hairs over high school chemistry homework to grabbing a drink with friends, board game night to late-night (8pm) bible study, the mill is the best. Life can get chaotic and social interactions can become a rarity. Regardless, the mill IS your neighborhood coffeeshop.

Absolute favorite place to get some work done. Perfect 3rd space. They do community events and meet ups which is nice. They have daily specials on beverages, and if beer is your thing, they have an enormous tap set up downstairs. I've only been for the coffee and to work, but I do know a solid beer list when I see one. I should mention that if you're going to work, the tables are a rustic raw wood, so not remotely even or flat. So you're going to want a mouse pad. Or a notebook of some kind to smooth everything out.

Such a chill place 🤙🏽. Stopped by to take an online meeting— the WiFi was strong, very nice study atmosphere, the Apple cider and cookie was delicious, and the staff was super cool too. Plus there’s community events and a lot of people who come in seem to know the staff, which was nice to see too. 100% recommend!!

A great place for a meeting, getting work done solo with great crafted drinks right there at your fingertips. In line waiting to get a gift card for a gift and staff new orders and names of patrons. Asked if they wanted iced or hot but otherwise knew all 3 orders in front of me. A true small town gem!!
