The Best Fireplaces and Fire Pits at Atlanta Restaurants and Bars | Eater Atlanta

"Although it sits along a busy thoroughfare, the patio at the Mill in Roswll is still inviting. It features a large stone wood-burning fireplace with plenty of lounge seating surrounding it. The fireplace is best enjoyed with a smoked old fashioned. It’s a blend of rye whiskey, angostura, orange bitters, simple syrup, and black cherry served in a smoked glass." - Lia Picard

This place has a great atmosphere and the food is also delicious! The outside has two styles of heat lamps for your comfort and the outside is also spacious with plenty of seating. The service is fast and friendly. The drink and grits is very good but the sauce tasted and appeared pre-made and old with a dull color but was still good. I ate prior to noon so not sure if the sauce was from prior day. I would recommend this place to anyone.

We truly enjoyed this place. It is situated in an old house with ample seating both inside and outside porch areas. The service was great and the food was exemplary. The New York Strip was prepared to perfection!

The Mill Kitchen and Bar offers a modern twist on American comfort food, blending Southern charm with culinary creativity. Valet parking made the experience seamless and stress-free. Inside, we were welcomed into a warm and inviting space with a rustic yet refined ambiance. Our server, whose name I wish I had caught, was truly exceptional—attentive, personable, and dedicated to making our meal unforgettable. The drink selection was great, and the food was absolutely amazing. I had the burger, and it was delicious—perfectly cooked and full of flavor. While it’s on the higher end for those who love to cook at home, the quality and experience make it worth the visit. Every detail was thoughtfully handled, making it a memorable dining experience.

Absolutely delicious Caesar salad with prosciutto cracklings. Adding the salmon made it even more delicious. We loved the baked brie with delicious bread and fig preserves. Fantastic service and great pace of meal. Very knowledgeable server as well. Nice selection of food too!

We had a wonderful dinner here last night. The food was delicious and the service superb. My husband I shared (devoured) the charcuterie board. He ordered the fried chicken and I had the sea scallops. I'm still thinking about my scallops they were tremendous. The chef last night was so good. I also ordered the blackberry smoke cocktail and fair warning you have to really like smoke flavor to enjoy the drink. Our waitress was also wonderful. I wish I remembered her name (tall with short, dark hair and a friendly smile). She asked if we're celebrating anything and we just said a night out from the kids. At the end of the meal she brought a small slice of cheesecake 'just because.' I started tearing up because it had been a really hard week with my husband traveling and me home with our four boys followed by the death of my grandfather the day before. We had almost canceled our dinner to figure out logistics of travel for a funeral but I'm very glad we didn't. I know, oftentimes, the revolving door of customers through restaurants can feel more like a machine but last night was a true reprieve for me and I just wanted to take a moment to say thank you for making an evening that touched my soul in the best way.

We had our son and daughter in law rehearsal dinner at The Mill Kitchen and Grill and from the first moment we met with Chloe, it was a great experience. As it got closer, we finalized the menu. On the day of the rehearsal, Robin assisted us with everything. She did a more than superb job of making everything perfect. I would recommend this place and when I am in the Roswell area, we will plan on eating there. The food was really good. Everyone enjoyed it and the atmosphere. I can't give enough stars to how wonderful this restaurant is. The servers and bartenders were also great. They decorated for me with their decorations as well as I brought some of my own and they set it up exactly the way I wanted. It was a perfect night and perfect celebration. They have valet parking so you don't have to worry about parking either.

After a morning hike, my niece and I stopped by this restaurant. Our server was great and the patio was nice with the exception of the flies. What we were disappointed in was the food. Brunch is my thing and this spot just didn’t do it. Nothing to rave about and the meals are priced high for what you get. $20-24 for eggs, hard potatoes, slightly burned pancakes and 2 tiny strips of bacon. I didn’t even snap pictures like I usually do. Unappealing presentation.

Google
Dined this evening with my grandmother. The New York Strip and Caeser Salad were phenomenal. Our server Isaac provided us incredible service and gave great insight on the menu options. We were also provided a free appetizer as first time visitors. I will definitely be back and highly recommend!

Yelp
We sat out on the dog-friendly patio which had a great vibe. It was a Saturday night, beautiful fall weather, and not terribly crowded. Fans, a fireplace, comfortable seating. Inside was gorgeous and well themed. Some street noise, as expected, but music was the perfect level. We tried several local IPAs and went with the waiter recommended Cashmere as well as "The Owner's Old Fashioned" made with a Maker's Mark selected bourbon. Andrew, our waiter, hit it out of the ballpark with his service and every recommendation, including the Rootbeer Braised Boneless Beef Short Ribs. Every flavor and texture was perfectly balanced & complimented each other. This was the best dish we had on our trip, and easily the best short rib we have ever had. 10/10. For dessert Andrew recommended the house made carrot cake, which I couldn't have due to an allergy but my fiance loved. The apple crumble cake was delicious.

Yelp
I don't understand why is so well rated. Fritter is really good, but on the other hand... Main dishes were mediocre for the price, I have had countless salmon and trout better and cheaper than these. Don't get me wrong, it is not bad, it is just that $32 for that is unbelievable. Service was great, very friendly and knowledgeable

Yelp
Highly recommend this restaurant. The flavors of each dish my group and I ordered were exceptional! We ordered the poke nachos (although more tuna pieces would be great), mussels, pimento cheese salmon, seared scallops, brussel sprouts, burger). Our server was super helpful and attentive. The restaurant layout had really cute southern vibes, a large covered sunroom.

Yelp
Enjoyed a beautiful fall dinner on the porch. Amazing fall decorations and fire place outside. The service was spectacular we just happened to go here after hoco pics and didn't have reservation. The fall menus is phenomenal. I had the trout which was delicious and on top of amazing root vegetables. My husband enjoyed the shrimp and grits. I feel like we were in a hallmark movie here! Great evening:)

Yelp
I've had this place on my radar since we moved to Roswell because I had passed by it a few times and it looked nice. We finally made it here for lunch last Saturday afternoon. Hubby and I ordered and shared a bottle of wine, the blackened brie, the deviled eggs, and the burger. The brie was good and I loved the candied pecans that came with it but I'm not convinced it's worth the hefty price tag for what is essentially a rather small appetizer. I was not a fan of the deviled eggs. I just didn't like the flavor at all and would not order it again. The burger was better. It was cooked perfectly and had good flavor to it. Overall, it was a decent meal and service was also decent. I wouldn't swear it off and may give it another chance at some point but to be honest, there was not enough wow factor to justify the price (our bill was just over $100 before tip, including a $42 bottle of wine). I don't mind paying a premium for a worthy dining experience but it sucks to pay a premium for average. Average food and average service should be accompanied by average prices. I didn't hate it but didn't love it either, so we likely won't be back anytime soon as there are far too many great options in the area for us to settle. Based on my first impression, I would not recommend it.

Yelp
Had an incredible experience at the mill. Have driven by it many times and wondered if we should try it or not. Man am I glad we did. We decided to go for lunch on Tuesday. Hamburgers are one of my favorites. So on Tuesday their Mill burger was $10.00 which is normally $22. It was incredible with hand cut fries. My wife had the chicken salad sandwich and was equally impressed. As first timers we were given a surprise treat. Pimento cheese fritters were brought out and were incredible. The service was simply incredible. Doug who was working the bar area waited on us and did a fantastic job. He took time to know us and take care of our needs. The ambiance is wonderful as well. It was a beautiful day and could have sat out on the patio but chose to be inside. We will be back. A very solid experience.

Yelp
Had brunch here today. Food was good. Service good. The place is bougie and prices too high but I think the clientele already knows this and doesn't care. They make you valet your car. Not crazy about that. I'd recommend this for a special occasion or if you just have a lot of money. I can't visit regularly because I can't afford it.

Yelp
This is such a great place. We chose to sit inside due to the thunder. We had a nice corner table in the bar area. It wasn't super busy yet so the service was really fast. Our waitress, Tierney, was excellent. The scallops were plump and seared to perfection. The risotto had nice chunks of lobster. The deviled eggs were smokey with a little zip. My wife had the shrimp and grits. She cleared her bowl. The shrimp were large. I also had a grey goose and grapefruit which was well balanced. It is a little pricey but the food is very good. Thank you Tierney!

Yelp
My husband and I are new to the area and we've been asking everyone for their favorite restaurant recommendations. Someone said The Mill and I can confirm it is awesome! We ordered the winter sangria, pimento fritters, pork, scallops, and pecan pie. Everything was excellent. Perfectly cooked and full of flavor. Our favorite thing was the lobster risotto that came with the scallops, but you could also order it as a side. We sat in the bar areas so we had fun watching the bartender artfully craft the drinks - he had flames going to smoke glasses!

Yelp
The Mill is a great location for a nice, decently priced dinner. The ambiance is always great. The inside is very nice and the outside covered area includes fans which provides an excellent dining experience. The table service is always great with an amazing waitstaff, especially the waitress Trudy who is very attentive, extremely welcoming, and helpful. This experience was a bit disappointing only because of having an extended wait despite having a reservation, however the bar area is a great place to wait with excellent service. The food is always very solid. There are a couple excellent items but everything that me and those with me have had, have been great. The appetizers such as the cornbread and the pimento cheese fritters never disappoint! Overall The Mill is an excellent place for a nicer dinner to celebrate or just have a night out!
google avatar

Yelp
Oh my gosh this place was so good! We sat outside and it was so lovely. They started the fire. We had some good food! The pimento cheese balls - OMG - we had to order 2 orders of them. The deviled eggs were good. The cocktails were excellent. My cousin ordered the shrimp and grits, it wasn't my fav as I don't like them with more of a tomato taste, I like more of a smoky flavor, but they were good. My friend got the short ribs - wonderful! and such a beautiful presentation. I had the scallops with lobster risotto, so good. Service was good in the beginning and then it like fell off a cliff lol, I don't know if got other tables he had to deal with. Overall was great and def come back.

Yelp
I'm still a little confused about the vibe of The Mill. When we walked in, it was very loud and people were gathered in the bar area like it was more of a bar food type of location. That's totally fine with me, but then once seated in another section, it was still incredibly loud and I realized the food prices are more like a $$$ type place. So it just didn't match. There was some kind of foul smell the Friday night I went. Seemed to be a plumbing issue because my party realized at one point the employees cleared sprayed something to try to mask the smell. The spray did help so I was grateful for that. For dinner, I had the braised short rib and it was quite good. My mom had the soup of the day which was potato and I thought that was great. Overall, I plan to try out some other places but I'd probably eventually return for a second meal. Parking: Valet only, it's complimentary so you just need some cash for a tip.
google avatar

Kelsi H.

Yelp
I really enjoyed our night out here! We made a reservation for 7pm on a Friday evening. We started with the deviled eggs and they were wonderful. I ordered some kind of fall/winter sangria and loved it as we snacked on apps. For my meal I got the short rib. It came with green beans which were cooked so perfectly. The short rib itself was so tender! It was falling apart as soon as I touched it. DELICIOUS! They also had a cute little patio/fireplace area outside where you can chat with your group/date before or after your meal! For parking we just parked along the street in front of the restaurant.

Yelp
We love The Mill! We've been coming here for years and every experience is great. They update their menu seasonally so you always have new options to try. Their classics like fried chicken and shrimp and grits are a staple! The poke nachos were delicious. The restaurant is pretty big and has a really nice patio with a fireplace. The bartenders have always been great. They have a great bar that's good to grab a drink or to have a meal.

Yelp
Dined here with some friends on a Saturday for brunch. We had a reservation & was seated quickly. Our waiter was nice & attentive. The food was good & came out in a timely manner & was hot. We did the mimosa for the table & it was nice they provide you with a variety of juice options. The restaurant is super nice & has lots of options for parties, small gatherings. There was a nice patio & bar area. Valet parking is offered too which is nice in downtown Roswell. Good food & good price for it too. Will be back!

Yelp
This place was great! The Brie was amazing and so was the chicken salad. They had a mis print on the menu, they said the chicken salad was served on a croissant (which is my fav) but it was served on a walnut/cranberry bread or something. It was still good just not what I wanted. Pretty place! Server was great and so was the food.
google avatar

Susan H.

Yelp
Food is always fresh with great presentation. Servers are good. Environment pleasant. Highly recommend. Consistent after a few years.
google avatar

Matt K.

Yelp
My whole family raved about their awesome entrees. Braised short ribs, chicken and dumplings, ribeye. I had the fried chicken and would select something different if I return. I would have gladly given a five with the wonderful service received, except for the "non-cash adjustment" aka up charge of 9.63 on for paying with plastic. I usually don't carry $300 plus in cash on me.

Yelp
In town for a work trip and asked a local where they like to go in the Roswell area- the Mill fit the bill! It was a solid meal- the dirty martini was good. I would have loved to see some feta or blue cheese stuffed olives as options though. The charcuterie was good. The meats and cheeses were pretty run of the milk however I enjoyed the green tomatoes, pickles, and honeycomb. For my main I had the scallops with lobster risotto which really was the star of the meal. It was very good and I would recommend trying it. I thought the waiters were too quick being out our mains- we hadn't even finished our app before the mains appeared and were then pretty quick to snatch it away after. There were also a ton of flies around landing all over the food and in the kitchen, yuck! I get that it's summer and that they don't call this Hotlanta for nothin' but flies all over my food is where I draw the line. So- was it good? It was! Would I go back? Probably not.

Yelp
I just had the best lunch at the Mill. So good that I am so full... it is hard to type a review. We sat outside on a beautiful patio and our server was very friendly. She was pretty busy, but it was fine since we were not in a hurry. Appetizers: We had the deviled eggs. To die for 10/10. I had never had fried deviled eggs but they were delicious and not too pricey at $7. We also shared the pimento cheese fritters - also a 10/10! I had the salmon tacos which were delicious but a bit difficult to eat and messy - 8/10. We shared 3 desserts (even though we were already so full). My favorite was the banana pudding and chocolate ganache torte but the strawberry shortcake was also tasty. I can't wait to return with my husband for dinner!

Yelp
I have been here for lunch / brunch twice. We have has decent meals here, they are kid-friendly which is a big thing for us, and the food is usually pretty good. The first time we were here service was great, the 2nd it was so-so, but I wouldn't let that stop be from trying it again. My only lost star is that their menu has deviled eggs. When you order a deviled egg you expect a nice chilled, refreshing clean taste. What you get here is not lightly fried. It is breaded, fried, and heavy. If you are going to fry a deviled egg like that, you seriously need to make it clearer on the menu. It looks like now it says lightly fried. At the time, it said nothing about being fried. It was terrible.

Yelp
The seating outdoor is GORGEOUS! Plenty of room and sunshine/ shade for anyones preference. They also accommodate to the seasons with a fireplace, heaters or fans for hotter days. Our waiter Samuel was very kind and attentive. He made sure out water glasses were full. Suggestive of cocktails and desserts following our meals. A party of six came for brunch and we left pretty satisfied. The food was adequate. Nothing extraordinary. The Nashville chicken sandwich wasn't up to par, nor worth the $17 price tag. It was a thin brioche bun with TWO chicken tenders, LUCK WARM at that. The Out of the Garden was alright. Sort of a surprise dish. No description, just a chef's selection vegetarian dish. Variety of thin ribbon sliced veggies in a tomato sauce. We started with a fried Pimento cheese starter which my boyfriend LOVED. For $10 you received 4 fried Pimento cheese balls topped with a smokey aioli- type sauce and candied bacon crumble. (** as a vegetarian, didn't experience the whole experience because asked for the bacon on the side) Overall, as a vegetarian, not many options but the crowd still flock in, so they are doing something right! No bottomless mimosas though. :(

Yelp
Went to The Mill for a birthday get together for my aunt with 8 other people on a Sunday. The overall ambience of the place is great whether you are at a table in the dinning area or the bar. Drinks were mixed well with good pours. I had the wedge salad to start off and it was good but definitely was not a wedge. They probably need to change the name of this salad. For my main dish I had the Mill Burger and it was pretty darn good. Double Patty, | Pimento Cheese | Rootie's Pickles (definitely not dill pickles) |Baby Arugula | Bacon Marmalade (can't say enough about this topping along with the Pimento Cheese). I wasn't asked how I wanted the burger cooked but that wasn't a huge deal. The General Tso's Brussels as a side were also very good. My wife had the Lobster Mac and Fare Island Salmon. She stated that she enjoyed both thoroughly. The waiter was very attentive to us up until after we ordered, at that point it was kind of annoying trying to flag him down for things that we needed or when trying to get our bill. Overall I would rate him as a 3. The overall pricing was about a 3 to 3.5 out of 5. Definitely plan on going here again the next time we are in that area.

Jay W.

Yelp
Friendly staff, beautiful space, food comes in a reasonable time and is tasty portions- downside unfortunately the salmon had to be sent back 2 times for being undercooked. Wasn't looking for any comp but on a $40 dish being severely undercooked was surprised no discount or complimentary dessert was given.

Yelp
We came to check out the Halal chicken items now that their supplier is Mar-jac chicken. We really enjoyed the food, and wow the building is huge and spacious. I had no issue fitting my stroller next to our dining table. The wait staff was really nice and accommodating of me and my friend, plus my three month old! I can't wait to go back. I highly recommend the baked brie appetizer it's better than you think! We had the special, Chilaquiles, and the Nashville hot chicken sandwich was really good.
google avatar

Kristen S.

Yelp
I had a very disappointing meal tonight. I ordered the crusted tuna and much of the tuna had so much gristle, it was not edible. The potatoes they served with it had an odd flavor. Service was good but it was overall a disappointing meal that was quiet expensive and I would not go back.
google avatar

Yelp
The Tuesday Burger special is a great value. We really liked the different twist on deviled eggs.

Yelp
Shannon and Katie are amazing!! They helped us with a special event in the loft, and they made the event seamless! They were so nice to all the guests, and so helpful. Great great great experience!!

Yelp
This is a nice place for Sunday brunch if you get there early. The menu is a nice southern blend. The atmosphere is pleasant.
google avatar

Yelp
It is for special occasions, we walked out or there with a 200 dollars bill for 3 people. We were drinking high brow drinks too. The food is good. The service was good. The dessert was really yummy. The history of the building is interesting (there are ghost stories)
google avatar

Vyvy T.

Yelp
We were quite early for an event, so we decided to stop by here for a quick drink and light bites. It was a 4 minute walk from the venue. Staff that attended to us at the bar were so fun and engaging. They had one of the best bourbon selections in town! We sampled a few from their shelves and had a delightful time. Blackened Brie was delicious as well. Came out piping hot, together with the bread was perfect. :)

Mandy T.

Yelp
We had been wanting to try this restaurant for a while and had been considering having a private event there. Finally stopped in and completely disappointed. The deviled eggs were an odd flavor and the mussels mostly were unopened or empty shells and the sauce was a sweet Chinese flavor. Very expensive for what we got.
google avatar

Michele B.

Yelp
Came here for lunch on a beautiful spring day and enjoyed lunch on the patio. Our server Alex was friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu giving us great recommendations. We started with the poke nachos which were a meal in itself and are a great shareable plate. We ordered for our lunch entree the chicken salad sandwich and the Philly chicken sandwich which I highly recommend. Plenty of outdoor seating, great indoor bar and nice atmosphere inside. Plenty of parking behind the restaurant
google avatar

S H.

Yelp
It was a very nice place. Atmosphere was great. Service was very attentive with a great attitude. We had our Son's Wedding Rehearsal Dinner out on the Porch. It was recommended. I hear never been there before. I was not from that area. The porch was great ambience and atmosphere however for the amount of ppl we had it was a bit cramped. The food was very nice. We ordered a buffet style to be served. That was in a tiny room adjacent to the porch. That too was a bit cramped for my liking but we managed. I suppose others thought it was great for that area but for my liking I would of preferred more elbow room. Otherwise, it was nice.
google avatar

Chelsea A.

Yelp
The restaurant itself is huge. Parking is in the back. We were greeted right away by the hostess and was seated right away. The server got our orders and was attentive. The food was a little bland too me. I order eggs Benedict and I felt like there was no flavor in the hollandaise sauce.

Xan T.

Yelp
Nothing extraordinary for the price. This is my personal opinion. $27 person with coffee. Will not return. Waiter forgot salt, pepper, syrup, hot sauce. He said "this restaurant is farm to table." The syrup Was cheap and the jelly came in a little jar.
google avatar

Denise R.

Yelp
We have eaten here twice in the last few months. For adults - the food is fabulous! For kids - they really need to work on the menu. Hamburger, Mac n cheese, buttered noodles, or chicken fingers. This isn't the healthiest fare or what I would expect from a restaurant of this level. The adult portions are too large for kids that eat more than beige foods. I would really like to see a small plate option for kids that isn't just an appetizer. There really are kids out there that eat well-prepared meals, with sauces, and real vegetables. Unless it's a date night, I will likely make another choice.

Austin P.

Yelp
Great atmosphere. Pro service. Nice bar. Interesting menu of original style southern food. Plenty of parking. I highly recommend.

Yelp
Super cute spot near downtown Roswell. They have some parking out behind the building. Inside is large and spacious. They hold events here too! All the staff is very nice and attentive. They have a great menu. Lots of great food and drink options.

Yelp
I had high expectations for my experience at this restaurant, given the positive reviews I'd heard. The initial service was promising as the waitress promptly served water and was polite when we needed more time to decide on our order. However, our disappointment grew as we waited for nearly 50 minutes without any further assistance. Despite expressing our readiness to order, the waitress never returned, leading us to eventually leave the restaurant feeling let down and frustrated. It's disheartening when an anticipated dining experience falls short of expectations.

Yelp
Went for Easter Brunch with my wife's family and our 9mo baby girl and was amazing. They did a buffet to make it easy and it was all good, lil rich in taste but was yummy. Easter bunny was out and about and doing pictures and that was a nice add on for kid memories. Only thing I would change, would be more lunch/dinner options at brunch. Was very breakfast heavy.

Yelp
The service was outstanding. The root beer braised short rib was a touch salty for me, but other than that it was wonderful. The staff made my party of 5, (4 kids 3-6 and myself) feel welcome and made it smooth. Top notch, guys! Going back for date night!

Yelp
I've only been to this restaurant twice. That was too many. The food was horrible ‍ over priced and just terrible.

Yelp
Alex our server was very good and attentive! I ordered Mill Butger which is a mixed meat Hamburger in a brioche bun. My friend ordered the avocado chicken. We split each of our entrées and switched up! It was a great way to try other entrées and to share! I'm glad we did! Will definitely return here again!

Yelp
This is the second time I have been to The Mill Kitchen, and have been disappointed by the food. The first time the food was not good at all, and the service was very poor. I sat at the bar and was virtually unnoticed for at least 10 or 15 minutes. This visit was very recent; I arrived around 5:30. The bar was empty-sat at the bar again. The service was a bit more attentive. I ordered the pimento cheese ball appetizers. They were soaked in some sort of sweet honey sauce and then covered with bacon. First bite was okay. The second bite was intolerable and I could not eat them. My second course was the Ahi Tuna which is served on a bed of garlic, spinach, and fingerling potatoes. None of the flavors matched, and the tuna was not prepared well. At any rate, I could go on and on about how the food is not palatable. It seems to me the chef is trying too hard to be some sort of upscale restaurant and in no way is able to pull off the items that he's trying to concoct . I won't be returning.

Yelp
We came here for Mother's Day brunch with a noon reservation and they were able to seat us early since we found a free street spot quickly and arrived early. They have buffets for the major holidays and this was no exception. It was a set price and the buffet was set up all around the restaurant. It included mostly breakfast items, a carving station, and dessert. For the price, I felt like it should have included non-alcoholic drinks, but alas, it did not. The selection was good, but many of the items were running low around noon, when our reservation was. Some never got refilled the entire time we were there. I had a good share of the prime rib from the carving station and it was a bit dry. The dessert selection was great and the chocolate covered strawberries were a hit with our family. The staff was nice, but could have been more attentive as our plates were not cleared until we asked. I would consider coming back here for non-buffet meal.

Yelp
Wanted to experience so much more. The table we were seated at was terrible. Kitchen noise, kitchen traffic, bathroom traffic. Server was to the point no breakdown of the menu no suggestions. This is the new dining experience with a higher price tag. I can't! Fish sandwich was mostly bread and mediocre. Chef salad dressing disappointing, lettuce were not fresh picked out slimy pieces, chicken small dry $16. Wine selection lacking...asked for two options but were not available because they were not chilled. Took 10 mins to receive the finally selection which was warm as well. Icing on the cake. You incur the credit card fee. Absolutely not you are running a business you incur the fee. Just for this we would only visit again if we were invited by a friend or family.

Yelp
Loved my fried chicken Caesar salad. Restaurant was a bit dated but nice. Bathrooms could use a refresh. Overall very good.
