This bar is newly renovated and pays homage to the historic Mint hotel and casino with it's name and vintage signage.
It has a swanky 1950's/60's look and feel to the outside and inside, and captures that vintage Vegas feel. Inside it has two sections, one with the bar area and one with an event area with seating, a dance floor, and small stage area. They have cool fun events all throughout the week, and host a vintage swing dance night on Friday nights with jazz music and people dressed up and dancing. The Friday night swing dance is so unique and you feel like you travel back to another time. They also have a swing dance class. There are tons of people there.
It is a breath of fresh air from the stereotypical touristy chinzy extravagance that the strip is inundated with, all while being located just a four minute walk from Las Vegas Boulevard. It is just a few doors down from the Golden Steer, which was Frank Sinatra's favorite steakhouse.
It has relatively cheaper drink prices, and the bar area is cozy, friendly, and intimate. It is very easy to mix and mingle. The bartenders are attentive, friendly, and nice. It also has a slew of television sets and video gambling around the bar.
If you aren't doing strip bars and you are rightfully avoiding "chain" bars, this would be a great option, especially on one of their event nights. I met the owner and he is extremely nice and always looking for ways to improve the space.
