8 Places To Play Tabletop Games Like D&D In Seattle - Seattle - The Infatuation

"West Seattle’s cleverly named puzzle and gaming store is also a cafe—one which has an exhaustive list of well-made coffee drinks (though their simple oat milk latte stands out). You can camp out at a big table and try a game from one of the shelves. Or book a private room for an intense campaign. Outside food is welcome, but they offer a few decent pastries and tamales." - gabe guarente, aimee rizzo

Great spot! I know they are planning to move soon but at least the location we visited was bright and open for playing tabletop with great food and beverage options. Nice selection of games to play from the library or buy and also fantastic service from Summer! Highly recommend.

We recently visited this place for a friend's birthday party. We rented two private rooms, which were perfect for spending time playing board games with friends. We enjoyed playing the games. The coffee shop had a few snack options; the almond croissant was good but ran out soon. I wish they had more food options. The private room is good value for money, and they allow outside cake for private cake cutting

I've never been in your Little lounge at your old location, but I see, and I've heard that you've been moving to a better location, which I think is hella good I really want to see this business survive. I think it's a great little thing for the community. And I'm so excited that you've decided to move to a more accessible area for a lot more people. I think I don't know that's just what I think. I just want to say I'm excited for you guys and look forward to maybe coming in. Finally so excited

Google
This is a hidden D@D Bastion Everyone is polite.. chit chat is limited to D&D specific topics and nothing political, controversial or polarizing ( much appreciated) There is a regular rotation of game Masters ready to run tier one, tier 2, and tier three games The expectation is that you buy a snack or a drink to help the establishment locally Edit.. They are moving to a new location soon called The junction along California avenue

We rented a room for a small gathering for a couple of hours. The room size adequately fit our party (6-8 adults) comfortably in size, but it was really warm in the room by the time we left. They did have a fan in the room, which was REALLY nice, but it still ended up getting uncomfortablely warm by the end of our time. Especially after the activities of eating, drinking, and playing games, the fan couldn't quite keep us at a comfortable temperature after about 2-4 hours.

I came in to pick up a ‘ Too Good to Go’ purchase. It felt like I was being greeted reluctantly. The barista made no eye contact with me, kept her head down and continued to work. After about 20 seconds of awkward standing, I was the only one in the store, she acknowledged me while continuing what she was doing no eye contact. I got my purchase with ease. She asked if I wanted a drink, I should’ve went with my gut and said no but it felt like she was actually trying to engage in customer service. I ordered a 16oz mocha with almond milk. I got home to see I had, at most, 8oz of drink and a half of cup of foam!..in a cup that looks dirty. I don’t know if it was just me or she treats everyone this way but note taken, I will not be coming back. Disappointing

Google
The Missing Piece is a pretty cool place. During the day when they have their little shop open, you can get food and other such delicacies. They have a wonderful coffee selection and a very warm and friendly atmosphere. This place is extremely well lit and the owner there is extremely nice. I would definitely highly recommend this place as a place to hang out with your friends and to pass the time. In a dark and dismal world, this place is a nice little shiny beacon of hope and togetherness. Food plus games equals awesomeness on the next level. :)

Google
We really enjoyed a relaxing and laid back visit. They had a wide variety of games to choose from. Large tables and plenty of chairs available for large groups. Games are also available for sale.

Yelp
They have a great library of games to try out and play in the cafe! Also new and used games to purchase. There are tables and two rooms. It definitely gets busy and there is a schedule for different group meetups throughout the week. You can also reserve tables ahead of time for your group! A diverse population hangs out here, highly recommend. Lunch special: half sandwich, cup of soup, and a drink (we got a drip coffee) for $11 including tax. Not too shabby for a little snacky while you play some fun games.

Yelp
As per usual I was seeking a place near my last client to complete my charting and grab a beverage. I located this cafe and had no idea what I was in for. I'd never heard of a game cafe. I hesitated for a moment, but am so glad to have entered. This cafe was amazing! The person at the counter made a great drink and recommended a good bite to eat. They were personable and everyone seemed to enjoy spending time going up to them and chatting them up. People were at tables playing D&D type games, there was a group in a private room. There was a group of high school kids, and adult group too. Noise level was surprisingly reasonable and I got lots of work done. I wish I had had the time to look around at the games they were selling because there were tons of new and used games for sale.

Yelp
A fun place to get grab some food (sandwiches, tamales, pastries, etc.) and play some board games. The barista was super friendly, and made me a pumpkin spice chai with homemade pumpkin syrup (I can definitely taste the pumpkin, bur I didn't love it!) And their pastries is from Macrina. I was told this place gets super busy after school is out.

Yelp
I've gone to this location several times in the past because they're usually quick with my order. They weren't quick this last time. It was morning and I had to go to work. It took 15-20 minutes for my coffee order to come out, and it wasn't even that complicated (two lattes). There was only one other person in line in front of me. I watched the girl preparing the order and she was moving like a snail, and she ended up spilling some of the milk out of the container she was preparing the latte in and didn't clean up after. She placed my to-go lid on a pile of syrup and I had to wipe it off myself; she didn't wipe the counter after that either. Management needs to give her more people to help her prepare the drinks so she's not the only one behind the counter, or they at least should hire someone who moves faster and is more competent at making drinks without creating a mess! My latte didn't even taste good. It just tasted like hot milk with a bit of a burnt taste.

Yelp
Was exploring different areas of Seattle, and since my friend lives West Seattle, decided to see all the little neighbourhood areas, and this was for sure a stop as I wanted to see how board game/nerd store are in the little suburbs of Seattle. This was considered more of a café first before the boardgames, nerdy stuff. But at the same time, they have dedicated private rooms for large groups who want to have a private gaming space too. The coolest thing is that they have such a good espresso machine to boot as well, with your games! They have SOO many tables in the café, and they were all the large ones too so you and your friends can play a decent board game. The coolest thing is that the location of the café is in West Seattle close to a lot of residential housing and it is literally a neighborhood gaming store. I love it a lot. When we visited, it was a Sunday morning, and there weren't a lot of people here, so it was the best time to visit, to grab a quick coffee and a bite to eat. I ordered a typical iced latte, and was invited by a bunch of ladies who brunch for a couple games of American style Mah-jong. I was extremely surprised by the style and on top of that it was extremely fun! I have played a lot of variety of MJ but this version is VERY new to me. I loved the game and the ladies were nice and lovely. Next time I want to come back here with a couple of friends, use one of their private rooms, and play a whole day of board games & magic the gathering.

Yelp
Looks like a great place to socialize and play all variety of games. We stopped by for coffee and a sandwich. We didn't expect the $9 Cuban sandwich to be small, prepackaged and microwaved. Possibly everything is prepackaged. Friendly service but wouldn't plan to have food here again. Gave it 4* because it's good to support small businesses.
google avatar

Yelp
Great place, good vibes, and a food menu that honestly doesn't have to go so hard (but it does -- oh how it does). My favorite lunch item is the Cuban sandwich (‍) but the tamales are no slouch. Both the almond and savory spirals are soft, flaky, and delicious--and the Bundt cake flavors are top-shelf (they rotate and some are gluten-free). If you have an ounce of nerd in your body or are craving a pre-library snack, I highly recommend checking out this Roxhill gem.

Yelp
This is a cool game spot and coffee spot. I brought my Little Sister from Big Brothers Big Sisters on our first outing and it was nice to have a place we could both spend time talking and also having an activity. There are loads of games to play there and games to buy and play at home. Most of the games seemed like more involved games, I wanted to play a simple card game but that doesn't seem to be the focus of the games here. The coffee was fine and the pastries were decent. There are many places to sit and it's got good vibes.

Jamie G.

Yelp
Fun place to visit, lots of new and used games, good for kids, glad to have it in the neighborhood.

Andrea K.

Yelp
What a lovely place! Alex, one of the owners, graciously showed us how to play one of the games, and we enjoyed the tea and pastries. We wish we lived closer so we could hang out to do the puzzles and to come back for some of the game events.

Yelp
The barista was super nice and helpful. Cute place that initially looks like it was a former gas station but converted to a cafe. Very cool backdrop with all types of board games displayed. Food and drinks were fairly affordable. Coffee beverage items costs around $3.50-$5.00 a cup and breakfast sandwiches about $6-$8. Parking lot available and "tenant parking" is allowed for customers, per the barista we asked. Would definitely come back if I needed a quick coffee break from home.

Yelp
Great space; open, good lighting, and full of A+ vibes. I had a mocha, which was delicious and steamed well without being oversweet, and a green tea. The tea was what blew me away. Instead of just tossing a teabag into a cup (like every other coffee shop in the city), they actually steeped it and served it to me ready-to-drink. I didn't have to awkwardly oscillate between drinking bitter, oversteepped tea or slingshotting the bag into the nearest bin (I'm a bad shot). 10/10 for tea drinkers.

Yelp
First time here, great environment, good drink selection. I'm giving the low score because of my interaction with the person behind the bar; a blonde girl with piercings. She was rude in our encounter, and I know it's not me because I'd just walked out of a hypnotism session across the street and was relaxed as can be. I asked for an 8 ounce cup of drip. The girl said "I'll have to brew a new pot for you" and I said "OK do you guys have a working espresso bar" she looked at me sideways and said "well we are a coffee shop aren't we?" Then she gestured around as if to say "I'm foolish for assuming otherwise". It was kind of belittling and caught me off guard. Feeling uncomfortable I tried to backpedal a bit and explain myself thinking I offended her. "Yeah wasnt sure because the coffee isn't ready." It's a cafe after all. Her response was "nobody orders it I'm not gonna brew three pots before noon for no reason." Again, with a strong tone of indignation. Was so surprised I just became silent. Looks like a great spot, I'm not gonna be coming back obviously; it's put a sour taste in my mouth. We need to be respectful of each other, hopefully this helps them out.

Yelp
The Missing Piece is a new board game store in Roxhill (between West Seattle and White Center). I think it is a lovely addition to the neighborhood. They opened in the middle of the pandemic, so I really hope they survive! They are located right on the corner of 35th Ave and Roxbury in a strip mall. There is a free parking lot, but there aren't a ton of spaces. They sell new board games. Not just mass market ones like Pictionary or Boggle, but some really interesting stuff like Splendor and Azul. The best part is that the owners are really passionate about games, so they are very knowledgeable and can help with recommendations. They also sell used games! It is kind of like a consignment program where they sell it on your behalf. You get to set the price and they will shrink wrap it to make it look nice. After it sells, you get 70% of the money as store credit. One of the best parts of this place is the Game Library. You can borrow a game and test it out by playing it! They have several nice tables and a cafe where you can order food (sandwiches, pastries) and drinks (coffee, espresso, tea, hot chocolate).

Yelp
Just tried a variety of the pastries, everything was incredible! The cookies in particular were delicious. Surprising tasty treats.

Yelp
This place is adorable and has a really exciting collection of games! We played giant codenames and they also have 3D Catan! I think its really cool that they have games that you might not normally own or see elsewhere. We booked one of the VIP rooms which was perfect for a large rowdy party. Thank you to the staff for being so friendly and accommodating!

Robert B.

Yelp
This is excellent place to find and play games! Very friendly staff. Really good coffee, espresso drinks, and pastries. Great place to play D&D, role playing games, and tabletop games!

Yelp
Such a fun experience if you love board games! They have a great selection of games no matter how many people in your party. Games range from intense strategy to childhood familiar favorites. On Sundays, you can earn cards such as a chess piece, dice, and so on. These cards form combinations to earn a free food or drink item or a spin on the prize wheel. The shop has VIP rooms (with doors) you can reserve for larger playing groups or groups that might get a little loud. The shop felt clean, quiet, and a nice atmosphere for playing games.

Yelp
I would give this place and all the people associated with it a million stars if I could. we had my sons birthday here this year and it was fantastic. The space was perfect and the employee was wonderful. This is also my teenage son's favorite hang out. Everyone is kind to him and it means a lot to me knowing he has a safe place to be. Thank you for being a safe place for the quirky, geeky kids of all colors. We appreciate you more than you know.

Cy S.

Yelp
Wanted to stop by to grab coffee and play a short game. The store has potential and had some games. Unfotunately, lady behind the bar was rude. Had our coffees made (it was bad, tbh). We decided to just walk out and didn't bother finishing our drinks. Will not be coming back.

Whitney H.

Yelp
I genuinely love this place & the vibes are amazing! I will hang out with my bf for a good hour or so playing the games from their library. I've been coming in a couple times a month for almost 1.5 years. I hadn't been in for maybe a month or so and came by today with the intention of just grabbing a coffee to-go (I absolutely loveee the strawberry letterjam) with my father. I also ordered a quad expresso over ice for my sister who also loves this place-- the quad came out hot & I really thought I maybe forgot to mention I wanted it iced so I didn't want to trouble the barista too much & just kindly asked for a cup with ice to pour it over; the barista's attitude immediately changed & the look she gave me made me feel like I was the most annoying person in the world despite me feeling like I was being kind. She immediately says that I didn't ask for it iced, to which I just responded that I'm really sorry & that I must've forgotten to mention it (although I feel like I really did ask for it iced) & that it's no big deal & I can just pour it over a cup of ice. She then goes to snidely say that it's actually an iced americano that I meant to order-- which I do often order americanos at other places so I know it's expresso with water, however I only wanted four shots of expresso over ice, no water. I chose to not push it & just nodded, she slides the cup of ice very quickly across the table (with no lid) towards me which I found pretty rude & that was the end of the interaction besides me wishing her a great day on the way out. This staff member (I had never seen her before in my previous visits) had facial piercings & seemingly short light-brown almost blonde (?) hair pulled back into a ponytail. I hesitate to give this place less than 4 stars because I've never had an experience like this here before. I don't understand what I did to deserve that kind of attitude. Maybe she was having a bad day? But judging by some of the other reviews I see that seem to be about the same person, maybe that isn't the case. I will still be frequenting, but if I see her there I probably won't bother to come in.

Yelp
Love love love this place! Amazing drinks and a great selection of board games. I like that the owner is willing to teach games.

Yelp
Super place. Both to purchase table top boardgames and to play. They have 2 private rooms which can be rented by the hour. Also many tables for playing board games in the main part of the store. Special events. Seattle Boardgame meetup group hosts some games here.
google avatar

Michael S.

Yelp
Our first time visiting and it was a very warm and friendly inviting atmosphere. Many people were enjoy themselves playing their favorite card or board game and the coffee was fantastic! They have VIP rooms for groups that would like to get together to play their favorite games as well as scheduled events on everyday of the week. All in all a very fun place and pleasurable experience.

Kerrie C.

Yelp
Asked for two iced lattes-one came out hot, way too hot to drink immediately, and when I asked the barista if she could remake it iced she said, "no, we don't really do that". You don't correct mistakes? Terrible customer service. I'm the only one in line on a Friday morning and she can't remake my drink?
google avatar

Josh S.

Yelp
This place is a gem. Great coffee and food to enjoy while checking out new boardgames with friends. My wife and I are excited to check out some of the weekly events they host as well.
google avatar

Fred N.

Yelp
Love this place! Great Victrola coffee, friendly staff, and an AMAZING selection of board games for all gamer types. Family games, strategy, card, puzzle, and so much more. Plus used consigned games! Highly recommended.
google avatar

Jingwen Y.

Yelp
Great spot. Wish we could take advantage of the games but given the current situation, we just grabbed coffee. I liked that it's very spacious and well lit. Lots of different games for purchase. The sandwiches were tasty and the staff were friendly.
google avatar

Maggie B.

Yelp
Went for a sandwich and left with a new puzzle! This shop has an awesome selection of games (well known and bespoke) as well as great looking pastries, sandwiches, salads, coffee and teas. Will return for lunch often as well as upcoming holiday shopping.

Anna P.

Yelp
This place is great! The service is fantastic, and so is the gluten free cinnamon roll! I also highly recommend the house blend iced herbal tea

Claire S.

Yelp
I was so excited to try this place, I think the concept of it is great. I wanted to bring some treats for my coworkers so I purchased the leftover baked goods bag through the Too Good To Go app - which helps fight against food waste - but when I stopped by to get it, the woman at the counter was immediately rude to me from the second I walked in. She had blonde hair and piercings, and she had a massive attitude despite me being friendly. She made me feel super unwelcome, and when I showed her the order code on my phone she got upset that I didn't just read it out to her... it was a very unpleasant experience, when I was just trying to do something nice by getting muffins for my coworkers that would have otherwise gone to waste. I would rather give my business to a place that appreciates it, so I will not be returning.

Margaret P.

Yelp
Great atmosphere for playing games. I had one of the tamales and it was pretty good. Cafe drinks were great! Staff working was very busy but attentive and nice.

Lisa Y.

Yelp
Luke warm coffee, stale pastries and rude girl with blonde hair behind counter. She should not be working in customer service.

Noelle P.

Yelp
Really cute little cafe to play games and hang out with friends or a small date :) The chai tea latte was so good and the smoky chicken bacon sandwich was killer!! I totally recommend this place to anyone. They even have gluten free options!
google avatar

Tracey S.

Yelp
It's a beautiful, open space with well-thought games curated for every style of gaming. The library for free playing has an excellent selection, and the owner and staff are friendly in sharing their extensive game knowledge. They have a good menu of food and beverages, so it's easy to spend a solid portion of your day there. Our side of West Seattle was much in need The Missing Piece.
google avatar

Kelli Y.

Yelp
They have the best vanilla lattes! The staff was friendly, the place was clean, and there are lots of games to look at while you're waiting for your order. It's convenient to walk to as well.
google avatar

Sarah B.

Yelp
An amazing little safe distance cafe with great coffee, and fun games. Kind staff. In lower west Seattle where there are no good cafes. A welcome addition.

Mary A.

Yelp
Really like this addition to the neighborhood. I had driven by numerous times on the way off the island, and had just thought it was a coffee shop with a large seating area. And I kind of worried about them opening in the pandemic. So the other day I decided to try their coffee and give them a little business. All I had was a latte with an extra shot (they offered me a second free shot as they sell them two for one) but was happy to make it with just one extra. And it was perfect!! It was fun to look around at all the puzzles, both new and on consignment. I don't need anything at this time but if I ever do, this will be my first stop.

s w.

Yelp
I've been coming here since it opened, great staff and game selection. Used game sections my favorite, always something worth getting.

Sara M.

Yelp
love this place, i need it to gain more traction and get more foot traffic! it has great coffee, GREAT service, and the game selection is unmatched.

S J.

Yelp
Stopped in on my daily walk. Picked up 2 coffee drinks and a croissant to go. Wow!! Highly recommend this place. The service was also outstanding. Super nice people.

Margaret K.

Yelp
My friend and I went to scrabble night and had an amazingly fun time! There are so many different games you can play at the missing piece! It's well lit very clean very comfortable even the bathrooms are lovely and Ember Behind the counter madeDelicious coffee! It was so fun I can't believe it's a Tuesday!

Sarah E.

Yelp
I stopped in at this great gaming cafe for the first time tonight. They have amazing tamales and the pastries looked good, too! So many games to browse and try out in a bright and casual atmosphere! They even had some harder to find games in stock. I'll definitely be back to try their coffee! I can already tell this is a place I will return to often.

Elizabeth B.

Yelp
What a great new spot in West Seattle! I stopped in this morning and was able to get a delicious latte while I browsed around the games. There are tables and some games that you can play while you're there, if you didn't bring your own. Their sales and loyalty programs have a gaming theme, too, and the woman making the coffee was very nice. I think she might be one of the owners. Shop local!
