The Modern Pantry

My mother organized a special event for my dad’s 90th birthday. The modern pantry did the catering. This team was fabulous. The food was excellent. Highlights were the staff and their sensitivity to the needs to the group. They get a 5 star review hands down. We will certainly repeat the experience.

What a wonderful little place! First time here and the very handsome man at the counter (Daniel) made us feel welcome from the moment we walked up. Wonderful smile. Wonderful service. Very tasty food. I had the breakfast sandwich. My buddies had the sweet potato quiche, and prosciutto and apple sandwiches. Specialty coffees all around, as well, and a sweet treat. I don’t live close by, but I’ll be sure to stop by the next time I go up to Squamish. Try it out!!!

A friend recommended this place and we weren’t disappointed. We came here for lunch and ordered the roast beef sandwich and the quiche with a side kale salad. I had them toast the sandwich. I was told the quiche would take 15 minutes to be ready. It would be nice to get all our food at the same time. Both lunch entrees were tasty and fresh. The kale salad had some sweet potatoes in it. It needed a bit more salad dressing. There are some vegan options and they definitely had a good selection of treats to accompany tea or coffee. The decor is simple inside but they also have an area out front for outdoor dining. There’s enough room for baby strollers and dogs. They’re open 8 am to 4 pm.

There are many reasons to stop at The Modern Pantry: baked goods, unique breakfast buns, frozen and ready-to-bake pot pies and desserts, or just have a restful break in their outside patio. We needed to eat before getting on the ferry at Horseshoe Bay, so we stopped here and ordered a breakfast bun, grilled sandwich, two coffee drinks and a chocolate brownie. All the food we ordered were good. The breakfast bun was a savoury version of cinnamon bun with cheese and vegetables inside – very creative. Frozen ready-to-bake versions are even available. The frozen chicken pot pies looked really good, except I was told they would have garlic inside (aarg!). They make their own jams and pasta sauces as well!

The pastries aren’t buttery enough. The texture of the almond croissant is more like biscuit than croissant. The brown butter pear crostata is too sweet. The strata stuffing on the pop up menu is good.

This bakery is a hidden gem. They make their goods fresh so you have really good and tasty croissants, rolls and pastries. The coffee is nice and not too acidic. But the real kicker is their patio which has a nice garden and view of the sea.

The Modern Pantry catered an afternoon party for 70 people - the planning, preparation, and execution were excellent. The food was fresh and outstanding in all aspects. The service was efficient and cheerful. I was thrilled with it all

Great place to go for a coffee or to have a chat with friends or business. Enjoy your coffee, sandwiches, and some delicious treats. Staff is nice and caring. Nice patio for warmer days.

My new favourite place to have coffee and baked goods! Their topped foccacia is a must (Thurs-Sunday only I believe). The place has ample seatings and some seats outside as well. Walking distance to the seawall. Their coffee was good and also their London Fog. Nice selection between savoury and sweets to go with the coffee. They also have selections local goods to purchase as well as frozen pies, which I should pick up next time! Service was prompt and very courteous. Plenty of street parking in front or the street over. A must visit and don't forget to take home the topped foccacia!

I attended with a mobility impaired friend yesterday for their hot chocolate festival. Was disappointed as the options for the festival were not displayed anywhere. The service was polite and fair. The hot chocolate was bland. Confectionery paired with the drinks were tasty. The venue was difficult for my friend to navigate with her walker. Prices were fair for what we received
