We showed up at 11:15 p.m. ready to have a drink or two, then leave. A staff member was blocking the door, and when they checked our ID's, she stared at it for several seconds. We have loved our experience in North Adams so far and were excited to show our friend from New York the place. It took several mins to get noticed by the bartender, and our drink order felt rushed. When we went for another round, I couldn't help but feel ignored by both bartenders as they were clearly helping people around me. They were cleaning up quickly (while there were well 15 other patrons still in there drinking,) so we decided to down our drink and head back to our bnb for the evening. As well left, they shut the door and locked it behind us. Literally. We are in our 30s and quite obviously queer. It couldn't help but feel slightly targeted. This seems off character from what we have experienced for the last several days in North Adams. People are kind, friendly, and hospitable. I hope this was just an off night for them, but again, I didn't feel like the best experiences from the getgo.
