Great dive bar to chill. Hop crowd and games on the upstairs to have a good time. The drinks could be strong and it’s cash only. But the vibe is great from people and the place. It’s a good spot to chill with friends.

Great atmosphere and staff . Decent food / drink . Down side cash only . Definitely going back .

I'm so glad my friends and I finally got the chance to stop into The Monkey Club. I moved here recently and have been dying to check this dive bar out.This place did not disappoint. First off the owner Dennis was beyond friendly and kind. This place offers friendly staff, cheap drinks and chill vibes to relax and hangout with friends. When we walked in Dennis said he didn't have any more tables available but a kind man stood up and offered his table to us which was really nice of him. Great vibes right when we walked in. We thanked the guy and the five of us sat down and ordered some drinks and an appetizer. Before we left Dennis offered us a free shot on him which was so nice! If you are in the area I highly recommend checking this place out. its cozy and a great time. This bar is a hidden gem and we will definitely be back to hang out in the upstairs game room next time!

This is a nice community dive bar and has a great chill vibe. Upstairs there is a pool table and is a great space to socialize. The staff there is friendly, however could be more attentive to when a drink is getting low. They have a bar snacks menu, however I did not get anything on my visit.

My new favorite place to go on a regular basis. The people are interesting and super friendly, there is a while for of games, the prices are great and the food is surprisingly excellent! This is a jewel in the neighborhood that you should try out.

Best bar in the area. The staff and management are super chill and they keep everything affordable which is a nice break from the overpriced crap that continues to develop down frankford.

My favorite bar in Fishtown. Regular movie nights, very cheap drinks. There's an upstairs with free pool and other games that's really perfect for parties, I want to throw one here pretty badly. Definitely one of the best neighborhood dives in the area. You guys need to promote yourself! Put a sign on the door, make Facebook event invitations. You've got an amazing bar and too few people know it's here.

I love this bar so much. Affordable and delicious drinks and food! With an upstairs that has pool, foosball, hockey, and more! Dennis, the owner, is so kind and wonderful to talk to. If you want a great neighborhood bar experience, this is the place to go. I don't want to sound dramatic but I will defend this bar with my life

Had a 30 minute wait for bbq down the street so figured I check the bar out..Fantastic spot. Great slushy drinks. Ordered 2 sandwiches to go..Both were awesome. Why not check something out different in these covid times!!. Husband tends bar while the wife is the chef. Super friendly..Cant wait til covid is over to actually sit inside and hang out.

Monkey club is this little hidden gem of a bar in Kensington... It's a great chill place to hang out. Dim lights, nice people,cheap drinks and some good bar food. Bartenders are also very nice. They make a great chicken pot pie, in a "hand held" version. I'm fairly certain their food is home made. The potato wedges are super yummy. Lots of their bar food is vegan so that might be good for some people. Great place! We will be back!!!!

Greatest bartenders ever! Cheap drinks, free pool and great music. Really chill place to get together with friends. Highly recommended! If you don't at least stop by you are doing yourself an injustice.

This is the place to go after Urban Axes! We came here as a large group (10+) and were able to get drinks for like $70 total (note it is cash only but they do have an ATM inside)! This seems like a super cozy neighborhood bar, and we felt pretty welcome. The best part is upstairs...they have a pool table, darts, Jenga and best of all a fooseball...all free! It's like hanging out in your friend's cool basement when you were kid. Highly recommend! I don't think they serve food so that's my only minus as I really wanted dessert but settled for a pack of Oreos there had for sale.

There are a handful of bars in Fishtown that hold tight to their working class roots and resist the urge to gentrify. The Monkey Club is one of the best: friendly bartenders, an abundance of warmth, board games, simple decor, cheap beers, and $5 mixed drinks. The crowd is a mix of neighborhood locals and hipsters who consider themselves adventurous. Even better, the upstairs portion has FREE ping pong, Foosball, billiards and darts. A crowd pleaser with down-to-earth charm. Having said this, it's a little gritty around the edges...but that's part of the charm!

Hit up all the neighborhood spots today. Been here only a handful of times recently for take out only. We rolled in here for a quick beer and a shot and just had a nice time riffing with some locals. Very welcoming, might have talked to one of the owners for a second and he was super chill. Great place, got take out, and we grabbed a movie from the blockbuster bin outside to finish the night. Love this place!

Good people, good brews, tasty treats. The Monkey Club should quickly become your local haunt. It's perfect for a game, great conversation, with an extensive bottle list and all the standard cocktails. Pepper Jack Chicken Sandwich is a fantastic go to, but try the potato wedges and bruschetta, too. It's not your average bar food. Ask for Dennis, he's really putting together a classic Kensington neighborhood bar.

Monkey Club is my favorite bar in the area. The service and the staff are always awesome. The bartenders are really nice but definitely have a bit of an edge when it's called for. The owner really has made a lot of improvements to this place and it shows. The food (little hand held pot pies and bar snacks) is all very good. The drinks are all reasonable. There's usually something good on TV. The upstairs has a pool table and other assorted games. Never really dead inside but during the week you can usually still get a seat at the bar, which I like. All in all, good people keeping the spirit of the local dive alive and doing it really well.

The best bar in Fishtown hands down. Pool, darts, board games, ping-pong in a quiet, upstairs space. Cheap, delicious drinks in a wide variety in the quaint bar downstairs. The owner is friendly, the crowds are mild, and you'll never wait to be served. Cheers!

What a Great place to hang out with friends! My wife and I had a large group of friends come into town this weekend and were looking for a place to go out and unwind. My wife and I had never been to this bar before and were taking a chance considering we were trying to be great host to our out of towners. For a simple bar they really put the atmosphere and vibe together impressively. The pool tables were up kept and leveled along with being easily accessible when we wanted to place a few rounds. My wife and I also felt the prices were very much reasonable for a weekend. The crowd was easy going and all in all it was a flawless evening amongst friends who had not seen each other in some time. Definitely a place I will be talking about and visiting again.

New bar two levels fun vibe. Downstairs is totally chill with friendly bar staff and cheap drinks. Upstairs is a dance party with a free pool table and basketball. Can't beat this place. Probably the coolest new place to open in e Kensington.

I like the chill local feel. Dive bar so don't expect fancy. But fun with pool tables and games upstairs.

My husband and I hit this place up weekly! Amazing drinks for cheap! Very chill atmosphere. Shoot pool, play darts, and enjoy foosball for free!

Awesome bar, great staff, welcoming. They just started up so no draft yet, but still a great selection of beers. Shots are cheap, always have amazing events. Best thing to come to Kensington in a long time. Jess is awesome!
