The Monroe

It's been 6 months since I moved in and have enjoyed living here immensely. We looked at all the buildings nearby and the first thing that stood out was The Monroe's staff. Taylan is probably sick of all my questions but he is patience, professional, and personable. He's prompt with his responses and solutions oriented. Both the old Connor and new Connor were/are also helpful! Next is the entire maintenance crew. Work orders are taken care of immediately, trash is picked up daily unless its a holiday, and the common area rec spaces, business canter, package room, and restrooms are well maintained. They also provide free coffee! There are some areas where the hallway carpeting could use a refresh. Hoping it happens in due time. We opted for an inner unit that overlooks the courtyard and not the pool. Noise is minimal. Neighbors we have interacted with are nice. The location can't be beat. with the number 9 bus right outside the door that gets to/from central in less than 10 minutes.

I have been living at The Monroe for a little less than a year now. It has improved so much in the past month since the new management! The new staff is so nice and happy to help with any issues. Maintenance has been so quick in helping with any problems I have had in my unit. I have really enjoyed the new events the staff has offered us, such as a happy hour, fun pool party with a DJ, and the upcoming events in September! The location is amazing, such a short walk to everything in the neighborhood. Overall a great place to live!

I’m loving living at The Monroe! The new management has been absolutely wonderful! Since they took over, I’ve noticed so many positive changes. They’re responsive, friendly, and genuinely care about the residents and the property. Any issues I’ve had have been handled quickly and professionally. The community feels more vibrant, and the improvements they’ve made have really enhanced the living experience here. I’m glad to call this place home!

I had such a great experience touring this apartment community thanks to Taylan! From the moment I arrived, he was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and super knowledgeable about both the building and the surrounding area. The building itself is top notch — with great amenities and the location seems to be super walkable to many restaurants and local shops. In addition, I was really impressed by the packed calendar with resident events. Thanks again Taylan for the great tour. I left feeling excited and confident that this could be my next home!

We have lived here for over 2 years and we loved it, informally. But all good things come to an end. The office staff use to be friendly and personable, but that has changed drastically as that team has all gone on to other things. No one answers phone calls, no one responds back to emails. India is a very sweet and welcoming, but she’s only one person, and can’t handle the whole thing solo. I haven’t seen anyone else. In addition, the maintenance staff are incredibly nice and always speak to you and chat with you. Clara and her cleaning team are so very kind and genuine. The property itself is solid, and the idea of the property is great but all the amenities that are on the website are not up to par. Trash is left all over the building by some tenants and that causes the floor to smell like a dumpster for weeks on end, super embarrassing when showing someone around the property. The garages are always having problems. The rooftop tv has been ignored for 2yrs it’s always “reaching out to someone else” sort of thing. The gym amenities as far as the cycling studio and the classes it’s supposed to offer doesn’t work, despite many attempts to bring it to mgmt’s attention by multiple residents. If you reach out to the team about these issues they just go unanswered or acknowledged but never resolved. Residents have been putting in complaints for all the previous things and they’ve been unanswered for months, if not years (TV on the rooftop hasn’t worked since 2021). It’s disheartening because you pay all these fees and Half the stuff doesn’t work. For the price of the units I’d do your research beforehand.

We've lived here for more than two years and in the last few months have seen such a visible difference with the new property management. Not only are they extremely nice and willing to work with the residents on finding solutions to any problem, they are working diligently to improve the property from all aspects. The Monroe's location is perfect and extremely pet friendly. I'd recommend to a friend.

Hello all my review is based off current experience with Move In. I was caught in the middle of a management change when applying and I can say the management team did a excellent job navigating the changes and providing me with A1 service Taylan and Conner have been amazing to work with and made my move in smooth. It so important to me that I’m objective on this review and say I just moved in however based off current experience I am looking forward to working with this team at The Monroe. Great walkable community Animal friendly for those with pets.

Best apartment in Germantown!!! Tia is so good and very helpful. The people here are so friendly and make you feel like family. Connor was very helpful also. Can't say enough good things about this place and people that work here.

GIRL, DON'T DO IT. I paid $2000 a month to live in SQUALOR. I was fooled by the beautiful photos on the website and signed a lease unseen, since I was moving from out of state. Big mistake. I've lived in over 10 apartments throughout my life and this was by far the worst. I'm attaching not just 1 photo, but a whole album that a few residents contributed to of evidence of the dirtiness, overflowing trash rooms, vomit and dust in the stairwells, the gnat infestation, missing door handles to enter the building, etc. Everytime I would have visitors they would comment on how bad the hallways smelled. I emailed management many times about some of my grievances, and I feel like they always fell on deaf ears. Over the 1 year I lived there: the garage door was constantly broken - I had friends have their bikes, belongings and even CAR stolen. There was zero security - doors were constantly propped wide open, or locks were broken so anyone could enter. Packages were always stolen from the package room. A few times I had someone jiggle my apartment door handle like they were trying to enter my apartment. I emailed management about it and to no one's surprise I never got an answer. I felt wildly unsafe. EVERYONE I know who lived in this building has moved out. I wouldn't be surprised if the building is now at 10% occupancy. I should've known because on my move in day they didn't even have my key on premises, and gave me zero instructions. I'm now living at another building in Germantown and it's unreal the difference in management. My mental health is so much better now that I don't have to deal with the incompetent front desk people or have gnats for roommates.

THIS PLACE IS A SCAM! I lived there for two years and it was amazing until my second year. EVERYTHING is always broken, gates, elevators, amenities. There is a new manager everyday and no one seems to know anything and blame it on them being new. I moved out two months ago and they have been stringing me along for my deposit. They have been "checking with their finance team" for two months and ignore my emails and calls. THIS PLACE IS A GREAT LOCATION BUT POOR MANAGEMENT WILL COST YOU A TON OF MONEY AND INCONVENIENCE

I lived here for one year and it was the worst experience I've ever had with a rental property. The building is fine but the management of this property is unreasonable and untrustworthy. The biggest issues I had: 1. Parking - The gate to the parking garage was broken 85% of the time that I lived here. They didn't ever communicate when it would be fixed or why it was out of use. Cars were broken into and then they started charging for spots. Absolutely ridiculous. 2. Noise - I was sent a noise complaint about my dog that was harsh and frankly rude. It resulted in me needing to rehome my dog temporarily because of the severity of the complaint. I had not been given a heads-up about any issues with the neighbors prior to this letter. 3. Security - Nonresidents were constantly coming in and out of the building. There was a strange moment when the management emailed the building telling us not to "engage with the homeless" which was ridiculous and demonstrated their lack of humanity. The issue with security was due to finance bros being in the hallways late into the evening not those with housing insecurity. 4. Requests - There were times when I would email the management about an issue with other residents, work orders, upcoming events and I would not hear back for weeks. They are unhelpful and unresponsive. I ended up moving out early and paying double rent for three months because of the horrible experience (and missing my pup!). Don't live here friends.

This property is absolutely disgusting, nothing gets fixed. They are not responsive, don't sign with this apartment. There are plenty of other complexes around that aren't disgusting for cheaper.

PART 1 OF THIS REVIEW: I moved out of the Monroe last month after 1 year. It is the worst building I have ever lived in... so bad that it's hard to know where to start. It's literally a scam... DO NOT LIVE THERE. Security is atrocious. Germantown is a nice neighborhood but close to some rough areas. The Monroe's management apparently believes the building is located in a suburban town from a 1950s movie. Doors and gates were constantly broken, without any announcement from the building or any projected resolution. There are two gates to get into the garage. One broke about a month after I moved in. The building's response was to just leave the gate wide open for anyone to walk in and out. That started a string of car robberies and the theft of an actual vehicle. I would walk to my car and see glass all over the floors from windows being smashed in. The gate was fixed about a month later but was broken literally that evening, clearly by the people who had gotten so used to breaking into our cars. In response, the Monroe management sent an email to residents accusing US of breaking it -- they said in the email that they were reviewing the security cameras and "punish or evict" whoever it was that broke the gate. As if we would damage our own property... It was ridiculously rude and misguided. That gate never got fixed again for the remaining months that I lived in the building. Later, the other garage gate broke. The solution again that time was just to leave the gate wide open. Car robberies persisted again, as well as bike robberies. Complaints to management were unanswered. Even worse is that the alarm system within the garage is broken. You are supposed to have to swipe your key fob to get inside the building from the garage, but literally half the alarms are broken. So, if you can get yourself into the garage, you can literally wander the entire building freely. During the periods of time where the garage doors were broken, I saw numerous suspicious people in the hallways who clearly were not residents and felt extremely unsafe in the building. Again, all complaints went unanswered. One night, I returned home from a late flight and saw an apartment on the first floor with a door facing the street wide open. I walked past it on the way to the door and noticed that it was a vacant apartment. I walked into the apartment to its front door, which was unlocked, so I was able to enter the building freely without using any key fob or key. In other words, a vacant apartment had just been left completely wide open in the middle of the night for anyone to wander into the Monroe. I called the front desk the next morning because this incident was extremely concerning. The response from the front desk was to raise her voice to me and say, "Well, what do you want me to do about that?". After a few minutes of ARGUING with me, when I literally was just a concerned tenant who was reporting a security incident, I had to remind her that as the landlord, her company owes legal duties to its tenants that they are not meeting and are reportable to the state. She became pretty apologetic after that... clearly thinking she'd lose her job. Security incidents also ensued in the package room. One day when looking for a package, I noticed that there were numerous packages throughout the room that were open and empty -- clearly, someone had been going through packages, opening them, and taking the contents. I had one package that came in an amazon wrapper that was cut open at the bottom, with the goods stolen through the hole. I went to report this to the front desk. The woman there said she'd look into it... but she then proceeded to grab a post-it, write the work "package" on it, then look at me and say, "so... is there something else you need?" As if it was so inconvenient that I was standing there waiting for her to take some form of action other than writing the single word "package" on a post-it... Speaking of the package room, it's a complete disaster. Packages are piled up everywhere, and it can take up to 20 min. to find your delivery. The packages are supposed to be placed on particular shelves, but they never are. Management does not go in and try to assist. There are numerous other issues in the interior of the building as well. There are gnats all over everyone's units. Not just a few fruit flies in the summer... serious infestations of large gnats. They follow you around the apartment, land on your food, etc. When you ask the front desk what they are doing about it, they instruct YOU to purchase bug catching devices for your unit. They do not pay for them. See next review for PART 2.

I have called several times, no response, no return calls! I am in the relocation business and want to book appointments and will not recommend this property if I can not communicate with a real person.

If you're considering moving to the Monroe, don't. The property is okay- The management/ownership is absolutely horrible. Let's start from the beginning. The brunette that is mentioned in so many of the reviews, is the one that "helped" me with my lease. When I went to go set up utilities, she had put the wrong address on my paper work- so on the day of my move- I had to redo everything. I called her to let her know I was having issues and she was super rude, never recognized her error, and didn't apologize. That girls is/was worthless and I was so happy to see her leave the premises. She cost me several hundred dollars by not grabbing a food delivery that she assured me she would help with while I was out of town. Security is a problem in this complex. They don't have cameras where they should be (at every entrance) and the doors are not locked. The gates hardly ever work properly and we had several break ins. Let's talk about parking. When I signed my lease- there wasn't an option to purchase a parking spot. The "management" started offering this to new residents, and since there's a crosswalk-level 3 filled up quickly. They also sold half of the level 3 parking spots- so if you live on this floor, you're basically forced to buy one. So get ready to pay an extra $600 a year for a parking spot. Also, if you have guests- they need to Uber to you bc there is zero guest parking. When I initially moved in, we didn't have valet trash so our hallways smell like garbage and still do. The most attractive amenity at this complex is the rooftop area- which was closed for 8mo of my lease. They never disclosed the problem, it looked like a leaking issue and it happened several different times through out my 15 months on the property. The walls are paper thin and I could hear my neighbors- at all hours. Doing anything and everything. I mean everyyyything. Talking, walking, dog barking, headboard banging on the wall, surround sound. When my lease was coming to an end, the management/owners didn't have the renewal offer ready for my 60 day notice. The "offer" was to increase my rent over $400 a month from my initial term. I had to argue with the office about the last day of my lease. Also, the management desperately offered the residents Amazon gift cards for positive reviews. The new management is just as horrible as the previous staff and I have zero faith they will change the culture that has been established- presumably by the "ownership" and Lincoln Management.

I really regret moving into this apartment. there is no soundproofing between floors. management ignores emails. security doors and garage gates are constantly broken. the property (sidewalk) around the building is filthy. I wish I had read the reviews before signing the lease.

Not only is the food amazing but the service is always top notch love hearing about the history of the area this place is always clean and prompt we will be back

We have lived at the Monroe since last year and do not have one complaint! It is such a nice place and the staff has been fantastic every step of the way. They have been accommodating any and every time. There are several doors to get through before coming into your own apartment, and my wife loves this as she feels really safe because of so many access points. We toured about 10 other places around town before coming here and between the amenities, pricing, and grade of the actual apartment, we thought The Monroe is the best. Really happy with our decision!

I'll agree with Jennifer R's statement below and say that the staff turned me off of this place before I even made it inside an apartment. We were speaking to the girl at the desk about our move in a month and a half when she told us that she only had 10 one-bedrooms available left. Basically saying she highly doubted by the time we needed to move there would be any available, and how they're not holding any after the month is over. I simply asked if she thought all 10 would be gone by month's end. She snickered and replied boastfully, "Oh yeah. Definitely. I got five last week." She proceeded to trash talk our current apartment complex, along with some others including their new neighbors, LC Germantown. We began our walk by the gym, pool, and dog spa area. The apartments are completely overpriced. The plaster on the walls and the carpeting make the place look like a hotel. The girl sashayed through the halls in front of us, never really turning around to speak to us. Everything she said came off very pretentious. At that point, I didn't even want to look at the apartment because I knew I didn't want to have to deal with her if I lived there. When we did get to the apartment, she never talked about it! I wandered off into the bedroom and she went out onto the balcony and stood looking out over the pool area. When she came back in, she said something like, "How do you like it?". Really? I was so ready to leave. Our walk back was awkwardly quiet after she inquired about my shoes and spoke about them like they were some rare exotic animal she'd never encountered before. She quite obviously didn't like them. She still hasn't sent me a follow-up email like she said she would. I'm secretly hoping she spelt my name wrong and won't.

Best location, priced competitively for the area, great amenities, and an accessible and amazing management staff. They are attentive and quick to take ownership if they feel they could have done better with a particular situation. During the recent tornado the management staff gave periodic updates which were realistic and helpful. You will love living at The Monroe.

I am a current resident and this is my first year with the Monroe. While I can't speak to all of the more negative remarks, I will try to address the ones I have encountered. To start, the Monroe is located in a great area of Germantown. It is in walking distance of many cool bars, places to eat, the baseball stadium, and a grocery store. I'd almost go as far to add downtown but it's about a 25 min walk to broadway. The area is also very safe in my opinion. Parking is generally fine. During the week after 6pm you will usually have to park on the top deck as it does fill up at this time. The pool is nice however, I do agree with the below comment that it does only get sun for a short window due to how the complex is built. While staff won't disclose to you the average age, it seems most residents are younger in their late 20s early 30s with a few families here and there. I have always felt the staff has been very kind and outgoing. They have many social events and their maintenance staff is very responsive to requests. In regards to trash, they have a new trash valet that is very easy to use. There is a shoot at the building that I do agree is too small, but you really shouldn't need to use this. I've never had my water turned off without notice, but then again I do pay my water bill on time and haven't gone through serious maintenance. While I do enjoy the location, I do not believe the complex is by any means the greatest in Nashville, but I do think they do a fine job and care about their residents.

My daughter is relocating to Nashville for her job as an accountant along with her friend who is a nurse. I road tripped to Nashville with her to apartment shop along with her future roommate and her mother. My daughter had prepared by calling and making appointments with every apartment she wanted to see. The Monroe scheduled her for a 9:45 am appointment to see a 2 bedroom. We arrived promptly and encountered a brunette lady with very white teeth. She acted as if she had no idea an appointment was scheduled and proceeded to look at her computer only to say "someone else booked the appointment" followed by "we don't even have any 2 bedrooms and I wasn't here all week last week" as if the remainder of the staff was incompetent without her. All this being said we didn't need a move in date until early August. We asked a few more questions attempting to find out if any units would be coming available only to have extremely short, condescending replies. With each response she would nod her head sharply while simultaneously blinking her eyes dramatically followed by a curt little condescending smile where those pearly whites would make a teeny appearance. At one point she even said "so what can I help you with" as if she didn't know why we were there. As we exited the building all four of us burst out laughing at the bizarre behavior of this woman! We also simultaneously and without prompting perfectly imitated her head nod, eye blink and tiny condescending smile confirming without having to ask one another that her treatment of us was completely unacceptable and clearly not professional. Obviously we all agreed that we would never want to live somewhere that the management behaved in this manner! Thankfully we found a much nicer place with more square footage, wall to wall windows, nicer finishes, better amenities and management that not only welcomed us warmly but also demonstrated they had a good relationship with their existing clients! Since I am the first to review The Monroe on Yelp I fully expect to see 5 star reviews to follow since it is a common practice for apartment management to offer their clients discounts on their rent in exchange for positive reviews. My advise is to keep looking because you will find better!

I love living at the Monroe! This community is so supportive of its residents. The recent tornado took down our power for a week and Melanie and the rest of the Monroe team were so good at taking care of everyone and making sure people had places to go. They called our resident insurance company to get coverage for hotel rooms for people who needed it. They checked on each apartment to make sure people didn't have spoiled food or anything. They sent out daily emails to keep everyone in the loop and aware of what was going on. I will definitely be renewing my lease here.

I love this building. No plans to leave form here anytime soon. It's in the most perfectly central location in Germantown. The pool area is great in the summer. The gym has enough for me ( when I want to use it). My apt faces the pool and I was initially concerned it would be loud and echo-y but it's really quite which is great. The Sky lounge has cool views of the city. My apt is just what I was looking for. The staff and maintenance is quick and I have never had an issue. I'd totally recommend this building.

I would not recommend living here. For the past 2 years I was a resident at The Monroe and was never late or missed a payment and kept the place in immaculate condition. Over the past few months during my transition of moving out I have been treated with disrespect and threatened with legal actions multiple times. Upon move out, they are saying the carpet has "wrinkles" in it and I now have to pay for the carpet to be replaced. I have spoken with multiple individuals in real estate law as well as building contractors. This is apparently a scam the Apartment Managers are now running on renters. The wrinkles cannot be caused by an individual, they are caused by improper installation. However, since they have your security deposit already on hand, there is not much you can do to fight it. They are charging me $440 to completely replace the carpet because of a few wrinkles that are not my fault. Also, there is an issue with security. So, if that is a factor in anyone's decision on whether to move here or not, be forewarned. The back entrance gate was broken for over 4 months and left permanently open for a while for anyone to enter. Several of the doors marked "alarm will sound if opened" are not actually hooked up to any such alarm. Also, the there was no compensation or resolution for amenities not working for over 120 days. About a month before moving out I offered to move out early in case there was a chance they had someone ready to move in early. Their response was immediately no and if I refused to pay then they would pursue legal action. Another issue is the smell in the hallways of the complex, one of the so-called "amenities" is a dog washing station. I am sure many of you know how great wet dogs smell. Imagine having to smell that every time you walk down your hallway. Overall, this is an overpriced, under delivered cookie cutter apartment complex in a cool neighborhood. There are other option nearby that I would suggest checking out.

Very affordable for the area, within walking distance of everything in Germantown. We were able to book the apartment for a great price by the friendly staff all in one day. I don't know what Jennifer R's issue is but I can assure you that I was treated extremely well by the management and I felt that the Monroe will be a great place to live.

From the beginning we have felt like we were misinformed. We were shown an apartment that after we left was told that apartment was no longer available. Being that we left town and felt like the rooms would be similar we decided to go with it. The trash valet system, which you pay for in rent regardless, has Sunday- Thursday hours, which we found was annoying as our heavy trash days were the weekends. On top of that, the company was quite unreliable and would not come fairly often. For those reasons, we have used the service a total of 3 times. We were told the insurance company that The Monroe endorses would cover hotel and lost food from the tornado, which was also misinformation. The Monroe has a strict mail policy where the package concierge charges you for mail storage after 3 days; with that being said, they have built a new mail room to expand those services (that's not open yet). Additionally, the garage doors have been broken the entire time we have been here. The dishwasher doesn't do the best at cleaning dishes. The pool only gets sun for a few hours. Walking distance to a lot of restaurants and boutiques though! Overall, the apartments are fairly nice, but the service is anything but luxury.

I have been at The Monroe for almost one year. The management staff , maintenance staff and cleaning staff are all Terrific. A great location located in Germantown. Yes, the garage could have been better designed, but I learned to live with it. Management has taken recommendations and acted positively on them! Great amenities and Melanie and Alex made me feel right at home!

Lived here two months and absolutely love it. The staff is incredibly responsive and helpful, and my apartment is huge. There's some noise from the hallways and street if you're on an external apartment, but nothing out of the ordinary for any apartment building. Very happy here!

Stay far away from this complex and its management. Because of their poor paperwork procedure, they cost me almost $3,000. During my time living there, none of the amenities were open. The gym was the only one open and we were promised a "state of the art" gym and its far from that. We never received any discounts for the amenities not being open and available. The pool gets sun for about three hours total. If you have a dog, this isn't a good place for them. There is no area for the dogs to go to the bathroom unless you are trespassing someone else's property or taking them on the sidewalk in the mulch. The parking situation is a nightmare. The trash shoots have a very tiny opening. I actually cut my hand and had to go to the hospital to get stitches from being cut at the trash shoot. They never offered any help with that either. And It was obvious it was a severe cut because my blood was everywhere. The hallways kinda of smell like sewage. They cut the water off multiple times without notice. One time it was off for almost 15 hours. If for some reason you did decide to rent here, just know you are not allowed to transfer out to another Lincoln Property as the owner of the Monroe doesn't allow this. Somehow he is different than all the other owners. They also don't let you transfer within the complex unless you have lived there for 7 months. Needless to say this place cost me a lot of money and I've tried very hard to make this review as honest and non emotional as possible. I want to save someone before they end up in a bad way like I did. With all of that being said, the apartment finishes inside of the unit are nice. I ask the management to please not respond to this review, as your response doesn't get me my $3,000 back. All I can say is stay away from the Monroe.

I moved to the Monroe at the end of March 2018. It has been such a great experience so far! I love my 2-bedroom apartment. Clean, open, and plenty of storage space. The community is quiet and the amenities are excellent. The staff has been outstanding - from the first tour through the move in. They host great "resident" events so we can meet other community members, which I appreciate.
