I'm so not the type of person to go out of my way to write a review, but the last 2 months of my lease term at the Morris have been nothing short of a living nightmare. Sadly, I could not in good conscience recommend that anyone live here. The concierge team is fabulous and the location is nice, but that's where my positive experience ends.
Around 2 months ago, we started noticing ants inside the apartment. We live on the 7th floor bordering the outdoor terrace area, so we weren't super bothered by this initially-- but unfortunately it quickly became an infestation. I'd come home from work, set down food for my pet, and hop in the shower. Within the 10 minutes I'd be gone, THOUSANDS of ants would swarm the food. Same thing began happening anytime we'd put food out on the kitchen counter to prep dinner. We even started finding ants on our pet and in our beds. The office's response was, "well I'd recommend not leaving food out". To be clear, we were NEVER leaving food out for extended periods of time, but we should be able to eat a meal in our own kitchen without it being infested with pests. It's been completely unlivable and unsanitary.
Each time we'd submit a service request, it would be put on hold for a week or two, as the maintenance team "only comes out once every other week". When we reiterated that our apartment was infested with ants to management and we were not getting the attn we need from exterminators, their response was that the exterminator's week-minimum response time was "the industry standard". Like in what world???? I'll attach pictures below of all the ants, but at this point we're two months in with no resolution. It's so unhygenic that I'd feel guilty **not** posting a review to warn future tenants. Don't live here unless you're cool with a completely infested apartment and management that couldn't care less.
Beyond that, they did some realllllyyy sketchy stuff with lease renewals a few months ago. Rather than warning tenants ahead of time that "you're almost at 60 days, you either need to give your notice or resign a lease", they waited until within 60 days of the lease ending to then leave a message on the door telling us we'd be charged an insane fee for a month by month lease (it was like $5k or $6k, something crazy), since we didn't give notice/resign when they'd "sent us multiple reminders via email". Ok, that would be fair...if they had actually ever sent reminder emails!! We went back to look on the dates they said they sent us renewal offers, and we **never** received any emails from the Morris on those dates. Upon speaking with other residents in the building, we found out that they did this to everyone and never sent out the renewal offers period. Once we confronted the leasing office with these facts, they immediately backed off. Just felt like super sketchy behavior, and I'd want to know about that if I was the one signing a lease here for the future.
The location and amenities are nice, but the management has completely ruined the experience unfortunately.
